Joe Jonas and Khalid Drop ‘Not Alone’ Video From Korean War Drama ‘Devotion’ on Veterans Day

Joe Jonas and Khalid are honoring members of the military on Veterans Day (Nov. 11) with the premiere of the video for their ballad “Not Alone.” The sweeping song appears on the soundtrack to the upcoming Korean war drama Devotion (Nov. 23), which stars Jonathan Majors, Glen Powell and Jonas.

In a sneak peek of the Quran Squire-directed visual posted by People, the director explains that the shoot took place at Hangar 21 in Fullerton, California, where the singers lip synched their bits from the dramatic song co-written by Ryan Tedder and Harv in front of the actual vintage war plane used in the film.

“We definitely spoke about the idea of shooting this video as a separation of my two passions from music and acting,” Jonas told People. “I’m not playing a character in this video, I’m myself. But we wanted the video to speak to the raw emotion of the song, so everything from the clothing to actually having one of the planes we used in the film.”

“Another step on your own/ Another mile that you’ve flown/ And I’ve been right by your side/ There’s so much more than you see/ Like the wind that blows through the trees,” Jonas sings on the first verse, which swells into the sweeping chorus: “You are not alone/ I watch over you, ooh/ Won’t let you go, you gotta know, you’re not alone/ You are not alone.”

Jonas told the magazine that he was eager to collaborate with his friend Khalid on the song, explaining, “Having him part of this co-write and also his beautiful voice [being] part of this brought it to a whole new level.” Khalid said he felt the same way about being part of the credit sequence track from the biographical drama based on the 2017 book Devotion: An Epic Story of Heroism, Friendship and Sacrifice about two pilots who were among the most celebrated wingmen during the Korean War.

“I’m very thankful that Joe reached out to me to be a part of this. I think that the message is really special,” Khalid said. “The movie, he tells me, is incredible. I can’t wait to see it for myself. And this is just a beautiful experience all around. Good vibes, good people, good energy. And I can’t wait for you guys to hear the song and see the movie.”

Britney Spears & Ariana Grande Bond Over Their Perfume Lines: ‘Sending You So Much Love, Queen’

Ah, the sweet smell of women supporting each other. Britney Spears and Ariana Grande complimented each other on their respective perfume lines on Instagram Friday (Nov. 11), though the “Toxic” singer jokingly confessed it might not be the best for business to shout out a competing brand.

“I know I shouldn’t say this because I have my own line of perfume…,” Brit wrote on Instagram. “But I’m obsessed with @ArianaGrande’s fragrance line. I have the spray and two bottles from it !!! I guess I’m sharing this now that I can breathe better and it smells so good!”

Just a few hours later, Grande took to the comments to return the compliment. “I love yours as well !” she wrote. “Always have and will.”

“Sending you so much love, queen,” the Positions pop star added.

Grande has released several fragrances over the years, from 2015’s “Ari by Ariana Grande” scent to her “God is a Woman” range of body products. Spears, on the other hand, has also been the face of several perfumes, releasing her first, “Curious,” in 2004. She’s released two fragrances just this year: “Blissful Fantasy” and “Naked Fantasy.”

The interaction between the two artists comes a couple days after Spears posted a lengthy message on Twitter expressing her frustration with all the “humiliating” documentaries that have been made about her.  “I am a person … I’m not a robot or a science experiment like they analyzed me in that place !!!” she wrote.

“I’m a valued soul,” she continued. “So for the documentaries that were done on me, they were trash and nothing more than trash … period !!!”

Eminem Is Bringing Mom’s Spaghetti to New York City

You get one shot! Eminem‘s Detroit eatery, Mom’s Spaghetti, is officially coming to New York City for a limited time.

The rapper and his manager Paul Rosenberg shared the news that the restaurant — which takes its name from a famous line in Eminem’s 2002 smash “Lose Yourself” — would be hosting a pop-up in Manhattan’s SoHo neighborhood to celebrate the 20th anniversary of his movie 8 Mile.

“Rabbit, run! -to the #8mile20 pop-up in NYC!” Rosenberg wrote on Instagram. “We open today with @momsspaghettidetroit served hot, merch and experiences. RSVP at momsspaghetti.com for an appointment or walk-up and wait for a slot.”

The pop-up will be open through Sunday, Nov. 20, and the menu includes spaghetti, spaghetti and meatballs and a vegan option served with “rabbit balls.” In addition, it will also include unique “fan experiences” and custom merch centered around the Oscar-winning quasi-autobiographical drama based on Eminem’s life.

Fans can RSVP for tickets for specific windows of time on the Mom’s Spaghetti website, though walk-ins are also welcome.

Earlier this month, Eminem was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s Class of 2022 alongside Dolly Parton, Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo, Duran Duran, Eurythmics, Lionel Richie, and Carly Simon. During the ceremony, Dr. Dre inducted his protege and longtime collaborator. “I knew that his gifts were undeniable,” said Dre. “Each of us was what the other one needed — and I was willing to bet my entire career on it.” He also credited Em with “[bringing] hip-hop to middle America.”

Nas Is Finally Headlining Madison Square Garden for the First Time

All he needs in one mic, one beat, one stage — and The Garden will do just fine. Following the release of Nas‘ new album, King’s Disease III, the rapper announced on Friday (Nov. 11) that he will be performing a special one-night-only concert at Madison Square Garden, a show that marks the rap icon’s first time hitting the stage at the historic music venue.

The show — which is set to take place on Feb. 24 — will be produced by Live Nation. Tickets go on sale to the general public Nov. 18 at 10 a.m. ET via Ticketmaster. Chase cardholders will have early access to tickets starting on Tuesday, Nov. 15, at 10 a.m. through Thursday, Nov. 17, at 10 p.m. And for those wanting to score tickets the old-fashioned way, they can be purchased in person at Madison Square Garden and the box offices of its affiliated venues, Radio City Music Hall and the Beacon Theatre.

The one-night-only show comes on the heels of Nas’ recently wrapped NY State of Mind Tour, which saw him hit the road with Wu-Tang Clan and special guest Busta Rhymes for a series of 25 dates across the U.S. and Canada, including stops at Los Angeles, Toronto, Atlanta, and Newark.

King’s Disease III, which contains a total of 17 songs, was produced and executive produced by Hit-Boy. Nas — who found success in the late ’90s and early 2000s — also participated in the executive production of the record. The album marks Nas’ first offering since the release of his surprise nine-song LP, Magic, which was released last year on Dec. 24.

Polyphia Rules Top Hard Rock Albums Chart With ‘Remember That You Will Die’

Polyphia hits No. 1 on a Billboard rock chart for the first time with Remember That You Will Die, which crowns the Top Hard Rock Albums list dated Nov. 12.

Remember launches with 16,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending Nov. 3, according to Luminate. Of that sum, 10,000 units are from album sales.

Polyphia previously peaked as high as No. 4 on Top Hard Rock Albums with 2016’s Renaissance.

Remember also begins at No. 3 on Top Alternative Albums, surpassing the No. 5 debut and peak of 2018’s New Levels New Devils. It also opens at Nos. 5 and 6 on Top Rock Albums and Top Rock & Alternative Albums, respectively, also both new bests for the band.

On the all-genre Billboard 200, Remember is Polyphia’s first top 40 album, starting at No. 33 and outperforming the No. 61 peak of Devils.

Concurrently, three songs from Remember place on Billboard’s multi-metric Hot Hard Rock Songs chart. “Ego Death,” featuring Steve Vai, leads the way at No. 18 with 759,000 official U.S. streams in the week ending Nov. 3.

Lizzo to Receive People’s Champion Award at 2022 People’s Choice Awards

Lizzo is slated to receive the People’s Champion Award at the 2022 People’s Choice Awards, Billboard can exclusively announce.

Lizzo will be recognized “for her groundbreaking contributions to music and television, as well as her commitment to championing overall diversity and inclusivity across race, gender, sexuality, and size,” according to a statement.

In addition to this special award, Lizzo is nominated in four music categories – the female artist of 2022, the song of 2022 (“About Damn Time”), the album of 2022 (Special) and the social celebrity of 2022. Her Prime Video show Lizzo’s Watch Out for the Big Grrrls is also nominated for the competition show of 2022.

The 2022 People’s Choice Awards will air simultaneously on NBC and E! on Tuesday, Dec. 6, at 9 p.m. ET/PT from the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, Calif. Actor and comedian Kenan Thompson will host the annual ceremony for the second consecutive year. 

The People’s Champion Award recognizes a person who uses their platform to fight important social causes and embodies being a champion of the people. Previous recipients are social justice activist Bryan Stevenson (2018), P!nk (2019), director/screenwriter Tyler Perry (2020) and actor Dwayne Johnson, a.k.a. The Rock (2021).

“Lizzo is not only an incredibly talented performer and groundbreaking entertainer, she is also a role model and inspiration to fans worldwide,” Cassandra Tryon, svp, entertainment live events, NBCUniversal Television and Streaming, said in a statement. “She leads with kindness, advocates for inclusivity, and champions increased diversity and equity in the industry and beyond. Her commitment to breaking barriers and empowering others to use their own voices to create change makes her a true ‘People’s Champion.’”

Lizzo has performed at the Grammys, American Music Awards, MTV Video Music Awards, BET Awards and Saturday Night Live, where she was both host and musical performer.

Lizzo won three Grammys in 2020 and is expected to receive several more nominations when the nods for the 65th annual Grammy Awards are announced on Tuesday, Nov. 15. Her three 2020 Grammys are best pop solo performance for “Truth Hurts,” a No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100; best traditional R&B performance for “Jerome”; and best urban contemporary album for the deluxe edition of Cuz I Love You, which contained both tracks.

She won a Primetime Emmy in September as an executive producer of Lizzo’s Watch Out for the Big Girrrls, which was voted outstanding competition program.

Actor and budding director Ryan Reynolds was previously announced as the recipient of this year’s People’s Icon Award. The show also recognizes a Music Icon each year. That award has yet to be announced.

Bad Bunny and Harry Styles are the top music nominees for the 2022 People’s Choice Awards, with seven and six nominations, respectively. Styles’ tally includes a nod as the drama movie star of 2022 for his performance in Don’t Worry Darling.

Newly minted CMA entertainer of the year Luke Combs, 2022 Primetime Emmy nominee Selena Gomez, hitmaker Charlie Puth and the aforementioned Lizzo each received four nominations. Gomez’s tally includes two nominations for her work on the hit TV show Only Murders in the Building.

Takeoff’s Streams Rocket 435% in Week After His Death, ‘Infinity Links’ Album Back in Top 15

The late Takeoff’s death on Nov. 1 sparked a surge of activity surrounding both his solo catalog and that of Migos, comprised of Takeoff, Quavo (his uncle) and Offset (his cousin).

The group’s song streams rallied 182.2% in the seven days after his death, while his solo material grew 434.9% in the same period, according to initial reports to Luminate. (The sums here include both official and user-generated content, the latter of which does not factor into Billboard’s charts.)

Among the chart impacts, Takeoff and Quavo’s collaborative album, Only Built for Infinity Links (released Oct. 7), rockets 84-12 on the all-genre Billboard 200 dated Nov. 12, in its fourth week on the list.

Takeoff, born Kirshnik Ball, was fatally shot on Nov. 1 in Houston at age 28. His death drew tributes from dozens of celebrities, including Beyoncé, Drake, Future, Cardi B and many other friends and musical collaborators.

Migos’ song catalog (defined as tracks where the group is the lead act) registered 56.6 million U.S. on-demand streams for Nov. 1-7, a 182.2% increase from the 20.1 million collected from Oct. 25-31. In addition, Takeoff’s solo material logged 46.4 million U.S. on-demand streams in the week after his death, compared with 8.7 million in the week prior, a swell of 434.9%.

For the latest chart tracking week, which ran Oct. 28 – Nov. 3, fans’ support through streaming in the latter half of the week leads to several gains across multiple charts. As mentioned, Only Built for Infinity Links, rallies 84-12 on the Billboard 200, with 23,000 equivalent album units, a 109% week-over-week upgrade. Streaming powers its rebound, with 32.1 million official streams of its songs in the week ending Nov. 3, up 110% from the prior week.

In addition to the Billboard 200 jump, Infinity Links leaps 40-6 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and 19-4 on the Top Rap Albums list.

Lead Links single “Hotel Lobby (Unc & Phew)” was the most streamed song of Takeoff’s solo offerings in the previous chart tracking week, with 7.5 million official U.S. streams (up 101% from the prior week). Three songs from the album — “Messy” (4.8 million, up 452%); “To the Bone,” featuring YoungBoy Never Broke Again, (4.2 million, up 41%); and “Nothing’s Changed” (3.2 million, up 78%) — were next in line, with the track “Last Memory,” from his 2018 solo effort, The Last Rocket, in fifth place, with 2.9 million clicks.

“Messy” debuts on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart at No. 43, aided by the release of its official music video on Oct. 31. “To the Bone” returned to Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs at No. 45, having reached a previous No. 24 best upon its debut three weeks ago.

Among Migos cuts, the most streamed tracks were the group’s most successful hits: “Bad and Boujee,” featuring Lil Uzi Vert, led with 3.7 million official streams (up 93%), followed by “Stir Fry” (3 million, up 85%), “Walk It Talk It,” featuring Drake (2.98 million, up 85%), and “Motorsport,” with Nicki Minaj and Cardi B (2.4 million, up 71%). The four songs are the full slate of Migos’ top 10 hits on the multi-metric, all-genre Billboard Hot 100 chart, with “Bad and Boujee” a standout as the group’s sole No. 1 with its three-week reign in 2017.

Busta Rhymes Pushes Back Release of ‘The Fuse Is Lit’ EP in Honor of Takeoff Funeral

Busta Rhymes has joined the list of artists pausing their own grooves to pay tribute to late Migos rapper Takeoff. In a video to fans, Busta revealed that he has pushed back the release of his The Fuse is Lit EP until next week (Nov. 18) in order to honor the MC who was gunned down on Nov. 1 in an as-yet-unsolved killing in Houston.

“Let us all collectively send love and light to our brothers, you know Takeoff… sending love and light to his beautiful family… sending love and light to our brothers [Migos members] Quavo and Offset, Quality Control Family,” Busta said in the somber video. “Family and friends that has been affected directly and indirectly by this tragedy.”

In light of that and his desire to support Takeoff’s family and friends at the rapper’s public funeral service in Atlanta on Friday (Nov. 11), Busta said he decided to push the EP’s release date by a week. “Send our love and beautiful energy to our brothers Migos and Quality Control and their beautiful families,” he said. The five-track EP — featuring collabs with Bid Daddy Kane, Skillibeng and Conway the Machine, as well as production from Swizz Beatz, Marly Marl and Focus — is Busta’s first release since 2020’s Extinction Level Event 2: The Wrath of God.

Hours after the world learned that Takeoff (born Kirshnik Khari Ball), 28, was killed by an unknown assailant while partying with uncle Quavo at a Houston billiard hall, Rhymes penned a moving tribute to the Migos’ lyrical secret weapon. “It took a lot of time today and a lot of thoughts to try to figure where to start with this today,” he wrote. “There is no perspective that is the right perspective to look at things from when you experience the loss of life, especially when you love the life of people we loose.”

Takeoff’s funeral will kick off at noon at State Farm Arena in his hometown of Atlanta on Friday, with Alicia Keys slated to perform at the event that was open to Georgia residents only. The public memorial will have a strict no photo/no video policy, with all devices subject to gate check in Yondr bags prior to entering the arena. The rapper’s family requested that in lieu of flower or gifts, donations should be made to The Rocket Foundation, recently established to support programs supporting community-based solutions to prevent gun violence.

Drake announced earlier this week that he was postponing his planned show at Harlem’s Apollo Theater in order to mourn Takeoff.

Kelly Clarkson Brings the ‘Twilight’ Nostalgia With Florence + the Machine Cover: Watch

Twihards, this one’s for you. On the Friday (Nov. 11) episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, Kelly Clarkson dusted off a song from the Twilight films’ soundtracks for her latest Kellyoke cover: “Heavy In Your Arms” by Florence + the Machine.

Standing in the center of a stage flush with blood-red lights, the three-time Grammy winner’s crystal-clear vocals were so powerful throughout the performance, they had no trouble at all dominating the heavy drums, synths and guitars delivered by her band of backup musicians, Y’all.

“I’m so heavy, heavy, I’m so heavy in your arms,” she sang, taking the line’s striking final note even higher than Florence + the Machine frontwoman Florence Welch does in the original.

“Heavy In Your Arms” was originally released in 2010 as a single on the soundtrack for the third film in the Twilight franchise, Eclipse, which peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200. In 2018, Billboard ranked it as the No. 9 best original song written for any of the franchise’s five films.

“I felt this was a strong theme in the Twilight series,” Welch has said, describing the gothic rock anthem’s lyrics. “Is someone being rescued or are they being condemned, and is the love you carry bringing you down?” 

The new Kellyoke isn’t the first time Clarkson has paid tribute to Florence + the Machine — in fact, it’s not even the first time she’s performed “Heavy In Your Arms.” As some fans pointed out in the comments, the “Stronger” singer actually covered the track while on tour in 2012, and just a couple months ago, she sang Welch’s 2010 hit “Dog Days Are Over” on her talk show.

Morgan Wallen Says He Performed All of This Year’s Concerts ‘Mostly in a Sober State of Mind’

Morgan Wallen may not have taken home any CMA Awards on Wednesday (Nov. 9), but he did open up on the event’s red carpet.

Wallen — who was nominated for the evening’s highest honor, entertainer of the year, as well as male vocalist of the year — spoke with Extra about his year, what he’s learned about himself and how he approached his tour with a new mindset.

“I think we played like 75 shows or something like that this year, and I did them all mostly in a sober state of mind,” he shared.” I was really, really focused. I kind of treated it like an athlete would a season, and I think that was really key to me. I feel like I really thrived in that.”

Wallen has been crisscrossing the country on his Dangerous Tour, selling out arenas and adding stadium shows to his itinerary, while seeing his song “You Proof” spend its fifth week at No. 1 on Billboard‘s Country Airplay chart.

With Thanksgiving coming up, Wallen also said he is most thankful for his family.

“My little boy, that’s gotta be my No. 1,” he said, referring to his son Indigo Wilder, who was born in 2020.

Asked what lessons he hopes to pass along to his little one, the country star responded, “I’m going to just try to teach him to be grateful for the things that really matter. He’ll grow up in a way that I didn’t, just because of me and who I am. I didn’t really have a whole lot growing up, so I got to learn the importance of just values, and I just hope I can really instill in him the same that my parents did.”

Back in June, Wallen told Country Countdown USA that he is working on new music.

“I’ve already got 12 songs finished, maybe more. I’m just trying to beat what I’ve got,” he shared at the time. “I’m confident in whatever I do next already. Overall I feel pretty comfortable. I don’t feel rushed. I’ve got other things — I’ve got the tour, I’ve got my son — so I’m glad that I’ve already spent some time on the next project.”

In late October, Wallen teased a new song, “Me + All Your Reasons,” with lyrics that catalog a litany of bad decisions.

“Smoke on my clothes, liquor on my breath/devil on my shoulder, strangers in my bed/pills in my pocket, ashes on the floor, These bad decisions keep on knocking on my door,” he sings in the clip shared to Instagram. The song ultimately reveals that his ex-lover didn’t leave him lonely, but with a string of her excuses to accompany him.
