Sam Smith and Kim Petras Return to No. 1 In Australia With ‘Unholy’

It’s a New Year, Christmas songs perform their disappearing act for another time, and “Unholy” is back on top in Australia.

Sam Smith and Kim Petrasglobal hit lifts 13-1 on the ARIA Chart, published Jan. 6, for its fifth non-consecutive week at No. 1.

The 2023 rebirth of “Unholy” (Capitol/EMI) closely follows the announcement that Petras will headline Sydney WorldPride’s closing concert, Rainbow Republic, on March 5, and comes ahead of Smith’s intimate performance at McLaren Vale’s d’Arenberg Cube in Adelaide.

“Unholy” leads a fresh top 10 on the ARIA Singles Chart, as Xmas tunes tumble out of sight.

SZA‘s “Kill Bill” (RCA/Sony) vaults 12-2, while former leader “I’m Good (Blue)” (Warner) by David Guetta and Bebe Rexha leaps 25-3.

Meanwhile, British singer and songwriter Raye enjoys a new chart peak with “Escapism” (Orchard), up 26-7. “Escapism,” which represents a new, independent era for the rising artist, was the top single on the midweek U.K. chart.

Following the publication of ARIA’s year-end charts, which saw Harry Styles’ “As It Was” (Columbia/Sony) coming in at No. 1 for 2022, the Harry’s House number is once again on the rise. “As It Was” lifts 34-9 on the weekly survey.

Just one single makes its debut in the top 40 on the new chart, Dutch DJ Tiesto’s collaboration with Canadian singer-songwriter Tate McRae, “10:35” (Sony/Warner). It’s new at No. 24.

The top album for 2022, ARIA reported earlier in the week, is Taylor Swift’s Midnights (Universal). Swift’s tenth and latest studio album holds at No. 1 on the latest ARIA Chart, for its ninth non-consecutive week at the summit. It’s one of five Swift albums currently in the top 40.

The dancehall phenom teased his and Drizzy’s new cut in a preview snippet via Instagram on Wednesday (Jan. 4), and unveiled the cover art for his upcoming fifth studio album Great Is He via OVO Sound, showing the Jamaican artist in 19th-century threads with a pensive expression. “New year, new Gear, new blessings, new money, new music! #GIHE,” the caption reads.

“We Caa Done” is co-produced by TRESOR and Batundi and accompanied by a visual directed by OVO mainstay Theo Skudra, shot in the beautiful island scenery of Turks & Caicos. “‘We Caa Done’ is all about persevering,” Popcaan said in a statement. “We don’t think about limits. We’re living the life we’ve dreamed of, and despite what the haters and naysayers have to say, we will only be greater.”

Prior to the Drake-assisted single, Popcaan dropped single “Set It” and the love song “Next To Me,” featuring Ton-Ann Singh, in preparation for the upcoming album.

Popcaan enjoyed success with his last three albums, all peaking at No. 3 on the Billboard U.S. reggae chart.

It’s possible the music video was filmed back in August, when Drake and Popcaan went on a boys’ trip with fellow artist J. Cole and NBA star Kevin Durant to Turks & Caicos. The crew was seen riding jet skis and posing together by the water during their tropical festivities.

YoungBoy Never Broke Again Drops New Album ‘I Rest My Case’: Stream It Now

YoungBoy Never Broke Again released his new album I Rest My Case on Friday (Jan. 6) via Motown Records.

One day after the album’s announcement on Monday, the rapper released four tracks early: “Black,” “Groovy,” “I Love YB Skit” and “Top Girls.”

This marks Youngboy’s first release since he signed to Motown Records in October. The Baton Rouge, La., native broke out in 2015 and signed to Atlantic two years later, going on to become one of music’s top acts. Just last year, Youngboy (real name Kentrell DeSean Gaulden) debuted six projects on the chart — five solo endeavors and one collaborative set with DaBaby (Better Than You). He’s charted four solo top 10 albums on the Billboard 200 in 2022 — more top 10s than any other act this year — and has released four albums in the past two months: The Last SlimetoRealer 23800 Degrees and Ma I Got a Family.

Here Are the Lyrics to JVKE’s ‘Golden Hour’

Singer-songwriter JVKE got his first hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart (dated Sept. 10) thanks to his latest single, “Golden Hour.”

“Golden Hour” has popped off on TikTok since its release, and JVKE himself has over 10 million followers on the platform.

If you need to follow along with JVKE’s “Golden Hour,” find the lyrics below:

It was just two lovers
Sittin’ in the car, listening to Blonde
Fallin’ for each other
Pink and orange skies, feelin’ super childish
No Donald Glover
Missed call from my mother
Like, “Where you at tonight?” Got no alibi

I was all alone with the love of my life
She’s got glitter for skin
My radiant beam in the night
I don’t need no light to see you

Shine
It’s your golden hour (oh)
You slow down time
In your golden hour (oh)

We were just two lovers
Feet up on the dash, drivin’ nowhere fast
Burnin’ through the summer
Radio on blast, make the moment last
She got solar power
Minutes feel like hours
She knew she was the baddest, can you even imagine
Fallin’ like I did?

For the love of my life
She’s got glow on her face
A glorious look in her eyes
My angel of light

I was all alone with the love of my life
She’s got glitter for skin
My radiant beam in the night
I don’t need no light to see you

Shine
It’s your golden hour (oh)
You slow down time
In your golden hour (oh)

Here Are the Lyrics to HARDY’s ‘Wait in the Truck’ Feat. Lainey Wilson

HARDY and Lainey Wilson teamed up for a rare murder ballad in country’s modern era.

“You rarely hear songs like this that bring light to heavy situations that people are really scared to talk about,” Wilson told Billboard of the track. “I feel, in my heart, that our job is to sing about the things that people are afraid to talk about. It’s a song that definitely starts a conversation.”

If you need a guide to follow along with the lyrics to HARDY and Lainey Wilson’s “Wait in the Track,” find the lyrics below:

I got turned around in some little town
I’d never been to before
Working my way through a middle of June
Midnight thunderstorm
There was something in the headlights
It stopped me on a dime
Well, she was scared to death
So I said “Climb in” and in she climbed
Oh, yeah

Well, she was bruised and broke from head to toe
With a tear in her blood stained shirt
She didn’t tell the whole truth but she didn’t have to
I knew what had happened to her
I didn’t load her down with questions
That girl had been through enough
I just threw it in drive, looked in those eyes
And I asked her where he was

I don’t know if he’s an angel
‘Cause angels don’t do what he did
He was hellbent to find the man behind
All the whiskey scars I hid
I never thought my day of justice
Would come from a judge under a seat
But I knew right then I’d never get hit again
When he said to me

“Wait in the truck”
“Just wait in the truck”

Well, I knocked and knocked and no one came
So I kicked in his double wide door
I let the hammer drop before he got
To that 12 he was reaching for
I didn’t try to hide my pistol
I didn’t even try to run
I just sat on the porch, smoking one of his cigarettes
And waited for the cops to come

I don’t know if he’s an angel
‘Cause angels don’t do what he did
He was hellbent to find the man behind
All the whiskey scars I hid
I never thought my day of justice
Would come from a judge under a seat
But I knew right then I’d never get hit again
When he said to me

“Wait in the truck”
“Just wait in the truck”
Whoa (oh)
Have mercy on me, Lord
Have mercy on me
Have mercy on me (oh), Lord

It’s been sixty months and she still comes
To see me from time to time
It was worth the price, to see a brighter side
Of the girl I picked up that night
And I might be here forever
It ain’t paradise that’s true
But it’s a whole hell of a lot better
Than the place I sent him to, yeah

(Have mercy, have mercy, have mercy on me)
Wait in the truck (have mercy on me)
Just wait in the truck
(Have mercy, have mercy, have mercy on me)
Wait in the truck (Lord, have mercy)
Just wait in the truck
(Have mercy, have mercy, have mercy on me)
Have mercy on me, Lord
Have mercy on me
(Have mercy, have mercy, have mercy on me)
Have mercy on me, Lord
(Have mercy on me)
(Have mercy, have mercy, have mercy on me)
Wait in the truck
Just wait in the truck
(Have mercy, have mercy, have mercy on me)
Wait in the truck (please, have mercy)
Just wait in the truck (please, have mercy)

Here Are the Lyrics to Meghan Trainor’s ‘Made You Look’

Meghan Trainor re-entered the pop world with a blazing hit, “Made You Look,” which made its rounds on TikTok thanks to a viral dance trend started by users Brookie and Jessie.

“It was one of the last songs I wrote for the album,” the star previously told Billboard of the track, which appears on her recent LP Takin’ it Back. “I knew I needed my self-confident banger that I always do on my albums, and I was really studying “All About That Bass.” I was like, “Why did this work so well?” I think everyone just loves to sing along to a song that’s like, “I am awesome, I am the sh-t, I am hot.” Especially after having a baby, I was already struggling to love my body. I was covered in a C-section scar crossing over all my stretch marks and I was really struggling to like myself, but also like myself in front of my own husband.

If you need a guide to follow along with Meghan Trainor’s “Made You Look,” find the lyrics below:

I could have my Gucci on
I could wear my Louis Vuitton
But even with nothin’ on
Bet I made you look (I made you look)

I’ll make you double take soon as I walk away
Call up your chiropractor just in case your neck break
Ooh, tell me what you, what you, what you gon’ do, ooh
‘Cause I’m ’bout to make a scene, double up that sunscreen
I’m ’bout to turn the heat up, gonna make your glasses steam
Ooh, tell me what you, what you, what you gon’ do, ooh

When I do my walk, walk (oh)
I can guarantee your jaw will drop, drop (oh)
‘Cause they don’t make a lot of what I got, got (ah, ah)
Ladies if you feel me, this your bop, bop (bop-bop-bop)

I could have my Gucci on (Gucci on)
I could wear my Louis Vuitton
But even with nothin’ on
Bet I made you look (I made you look)
Yeah, I look good in my Versace dress (take it off)
But I’m hotter when my morning hair’s a mess
‘Cause even with my hoodie on
Bet I made you look (I made you look)
Mhm-hm-hm

And once you get a taste (woo), you’ll never be the same
This ain’t that ordinary, this that 14 karat cake
Ooh, tell me what you, what you, what you gon’ do, ooh (what you gon’ do, ooh, ooh)

When I do my walk, walk (oh)
I can guarantee your jaw will drop, drop (oh) (I guarantee your jaw will drop, drop)
‘Cause they don’t make a lot of what I got, got (ah, ah)
Ladies if you feel me, this your bop, bop (bop-bop-bop)

Oh, I could have my Gucci on (Gucci on)
I could wear my Louis Vuitton
But even with nothin’ on
Bet I made you look (said, I made you look)
Yeah, I look good in my Versace dress (take it off, baby)
But I’m hotter when my morning hair’s a mess
‘Cause even with my hoodie on
Bet I made you look (said, I made you look)

Here Are the Lyrics to SZA’s ‘Kill Bill’

SZA got vengeful in her SOS fan favorite track, “Kill Bill,” in which she executes a murder of her ex-boyfriend and his new girlfriend.

The album, which bowed at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 dated Dec. 24, landed comfortably in the top spot for a third week on Jan. 7. Meanwhile, “Kill Bill” remains just outside of the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100, two weeks after scoring the album’s highest debut on the chart with its No. 3 entrance.

If you need a guide to follow along with SZA’s “Kill Bill,” find the lyrics below:

I’m still a fan even though I was salty
Hate to see you with some other broad, know you happy
Hate to see you happy if I’m not the one driving
I’m so mature, I’m so mature, I’m so mature
Got me a therapist to tell me there’s other men
I don’t want none, I just want you
If I can’t have you, no one should

I might
I might kill my ex
Not the best idea
His new girlfriend’s next
How’d I get here?
I might kill my ex
I still love him though
Rather be in jail than alone

I get the sense that it’s a lost cause
I get the sense that you might really love her
The text gon’ be evidence, this text is evidence
I tried to ration with you, no murders or crime of passion
But damn, you was out of reach
You was at the farmers market with your perfect peach
Now I’m in amazement, planning home invasion
Now you laying facedown
Got me singing over a beat

I’m so mature, I’m so mature, I’m so mature
Got me a therapist to tell me there’s other men
I don’t want none, I just want you
If I can’t have you, no one will (I might)

I might kill my ex
Not the best idea
His new girlfriend’s next
How’d I get here?
I might kill my ex
I still love him though
Rather be in jail than alone

I did it all for love (love)
I did it all on no drugs (drugs)
I did all of this sober
I did it all for us, oh

I did it all for love (love)
I did all of this on no drugs (drugs)
I did all of this sober
Don’t you know I did it all for us? (I’ll kill your ex tonight)

Oh
I just killed my ex
Not the best idea (idea)
Killed his girlfriend next
How’d I get here?
I just killed my ex
I still love him though (I do)
Rather be in hell than alone

Kim Kardashian & North West ‘Shake It Off’ to Taylor Swift Song on TikTok

Kim Kardashian and her nine-year-old daughter North West were back at it again on TikTok on Thursday (Jan. 5), taking part in their usual fast-paced choreographed clips.

This time, however, the mother-daughter duo are singing along to Taylor Swift‘s 2014 hit, “Shake It Off,” which is surprising given Kardashian and Swift’s tumultuous history. After the SKIMS founder’s ex-husband Kanye West interrupted Swift on stage at the 2009 VMAs, which sparked their decade-plus feud, he called her out in his 2016 song “Famous” by rapping, “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / Why? I made that b—h famous.

That year, Kardashian defended Ye in an episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians. In 2019, however, she revealed that the beef was finally over. “I feel like we’ve all moved on,” she said during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, adding that the two still had not spoken.

In 2021, Kardashian revealed in an interview on Honestly With Bari Weiss that she’s actually a fan of Swift’s music. “I mean, I really like a lot of her songs,” the billionaire reality TV star revealed. “They’re all super cute and catchy. I’d have to look in my phone to get a name.”

Upon Swift releasing her 10th studio album Midnights in 2022, many fans believed that “Vigilante S—,” while not mentioning anyone directly, may be about her public feud with West and Kardashian, flipping the script and now siding with Kim K.
