Morgan Wallen Charts Second-Most Songs Ever in a Week on Hot 100 After Rewriting Record

A week after Morgan Wallen broke the record for the most songs simultaneously charted on the Billboard Hot 100 – 36, on the survey dated March 18, marking the entirety of his new album, One Thing At a Time – he tallies 28 on the March 25 chart, the second-most ever in a single week.

Released March 3, the set launched as Wallen’s second No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, with the biggest week by equivalent album units for any album, among all genres, in 2023: 501,000 (through March 9), according to Luminate.

In its second week (March 10-16), the collection earned 259,000 units, down 48%, sparking its second week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

Wallen now boasts the two top weeks in terms of the most songs charted on the Hot 100 simultaneously. Below Wallen’s hauls of 36 and 28 entries, Drake totaled 27 on the July 14, 2018-dated chart and Taylor Swift logged 26 on the Nov. 27, 2021-dated list. As with Wallen a week earlier, Drake and Swift translated big Billboard 200 debuts into their hefty weeks on the Hot 100 in those frames: Drake thanks to Scorpion and Swift via Red (Taylor’s Version).

Taylor Swift Makes Good on Promise to 13-Year-Old Burn Survivor With Tour Tickets

Taylor Swift just made good on a promise to a fan, five years later.

One of thousands of fans in attendance at the opening Eras Tour shows in Glendale, Ariz., was Isabella McCune, a longtime fan who’d been waiting since 2018 to see the pop star live. In fact, the 13-year-old was there as a special guest of Swift’s, who gifted McCune four free tickets to night two of her State Farm Stadium dates.

The bittersweet night was years in the making, as McCune had hoped to see Swift’s Reputation Tour five years prior. Leading up to the 2018 show, she suffered a severe accident that left her hospitalized for nine months as she recovered from burns covering 65% of her body, according to ABC 15 in Arizona. During that time, she listened to the “Anti-Hero” singer’s music to help her get through the difficult time.

Swift eventually visited her young fan — then 8 years old — in the hospital after the accident, and left a sweet note reassuring McCune. “Isabella, I hope you feel better soon,” the superstar wrote in 2018. “I’m so honored you’ve been listening to my music. You’re so awesome and I can’t wait to have you at a show. Stay strong, gorgeous. Love, Taylor.”

No one could have predicted how long it would take for Swift to be able to deliver on her promise, though. Lover Fest, which was supposed to be her first tour after the Reputation trek, was initially scheduled for summer of 2020. Like most tours around that time, however, it was canceled due to the global coronavirus pandemic.

Now that the 11-time Grammy winner is finally back on the road, though, McCune’s story has finally come full circle. With the help of Live 101.5 and the Valleywise Health Foundation, Swift’s team surprised her with Eras Tour tickets, which were given to her by a medical professional while she was sitting in a hospital bed like the one she spent months of her life in five years ago.

“Not only the fact that I’m able to go and I got these tickets gifted to me, they’re from Taylor Swift and her team and they remembered me, and thought of me to give me these tickets,” she told ABC15 of the surprise.

Nick Cannon Calls Mariah Carey a ‘Gift From God’: ‘She’s the Coolest Person I Ever Met’

Nick Cannon looked back on his relationship with Mariah Carey in a new interview.

“Like the greatest? I mean, I always talk about that. Then it goes viral, and our fans get mad at me,” he told The Shade Room when asked about the love of his life. “But I was 12 years old with Mariah Carey pictures on my wall, and that becomes my wife. And the fact that she’s the coolest person I ever met.”

The former couple split in 2016 after eight years of marriage, but Cannon still has nothing but glowing words to say about the superstar singer. “I get a lot of this delightful disposition from her. She’s just always happy, always doing for others. No matter what’s happening in life. I’m like, ‘Wow, a person can really operate like that and don’t allow negative energy into their space.’ When I found that out, about how remarkable she was, that woman is not human. She’s a gift from God.”

Cannon and Carey share 11-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe — known by the Lambily as Dem Babies. Since his split from Mimi, the host of The Masked Singer has also welcomed 10 other kids with five different women as part of his belief in consensual non-monogamy.

He’s even parlaying his reputation for baby-making into a new game show called Who’s Having My Baby With Nick Cannon. Hosted by his pal Kevin Hart, the series is tentatively set to premiere sometime this spring on E!.

BLACKPINK’s Jisoo Goes High Fashion in Second Visual Teaser for Solo Debut ‘ME’

The arrival of Jisoo’s solo album, ME, is imminent. To further drum up anticipation for its release, the BLACKPINK singer’s record label YG Entertainment shared a second teaser visual that provides one more piece to the puzzle of her debut as a solo artist.

The stunning video features a color palette primarily consisting of black and white. Jisoo first appears on screen as an elegant silhouette before her face and body are revealed. She poses in a black crop top and a satin-finished, voluminous skirt, gazing fiercely into the camera until her solo album and its release date appear in red text at the end of the video.

The new teaser visual also slipped a major nugget of information to fans of the K-pop star. In the description box of the video, the text reads #FLOWER,” potentially hinting at the title of the album’s lead single.

In YG’s post of the visual teaser on Twitter, several fans hilariously replied with the same block of text (also known as a copypasta), “ME isn’t just an album, it’s a cultural reset, it’s the oxygen you breathe, it’s a lifestyle, a reason to breathe, an escape from this cruel world, it’s art, the first gift you open on Christmas, a hug from a loved one, everything uv [sic] ever wanted and more. It’s a blessing.”

ME is set for release on March 31 via YG Entertainment and Interscope Records. It comes after Lisa’s LALISA and Rosé’s -R- in 2021 and Jennie’s “SOLO” in 2018.

NCT DREAM Embraces Old-School Hip-Hop in English-Language Version of ‘Beatbox’: Listen

NCT DREAM is giving fans an English single to feast on, and it’s a re-release of one of the K-pop stars’ more recent tracks. The K-pop group shared its new version of “Beatbox” on Tuesday (March 21), alongside a lyric video handwritten by members Mark, Renjun, Jeno, Haechan, Chenle, Jaemin and Jisung.

“Yeah, pull up to the spot, turn it up (Yeah, yeah)/ Make a beatbox-box and it bump (Yeah, yeah)/ Rhythm with the flow is the gunghap/ Everywhere I go, bring the beatbox/ Yeah, hands up to the top, bring ’em up (Yeah, yeah)/ Make a beatbox-box and it bump (Yeah, yeah) Everywhere I go, make the room hop/ Everywhere I go, bring the beatbox,” the boys sing in unison on the song’s infectious chorus. The lyric video also highlights scenes of the group doing a photo shoot for the single.

“Beatbox” — which serves as NCT DREAM’s second English-language single after “Fireflies” — was originally released as the title track from the group’s second album repackage, Beatbox. The set arrived last year on May 30 and, in addition to the Korean version of “Beatbox,” featured new tracks “To My First,” “Sorry, Heart” and “On the Way,” which did not appear on the K-pop group’s second album, Glitch Mode. Glitch Mode peaked at No. 5 on Billboard‘s Top Album Sales chart, while Beatbox, Glitch Mode‘s repackage, peaked at No. 61.

Up next for NCT DREAM is a tour across the United States titled NCT DREAM — THE DREAM SHOW2: In A DREAM tour, which will kick off on April 5. It is set to make stops in Chicago, Atlanta, Houston, Dallas, Los Angeles and Seattle before concluding on April 21.

Watch Taylor Swift Stage Dive at Her Eras Tour Concerts

There’s stage diving, and then there’s literally diving headfirst into a stage floor. Taylor Swift has been adopting the latter approach during the first couple dates of her highly anticipated Eras Tour, performing a one-of-a-kind stunt during a key moment in her show that has been leaving fans speechless.

The move comes toward the end of Swift’s three-hour showcase and serves as a transition from the surprise song section of her concert to the finale, which is dedicated to her most recent album, Midnights. After the 33-year-old pop star sings two random acoustic numbers from her nearly two decades-long catalog on a B-stage, she puts her hands together above her head and plunges into a Taylor-sized hole in the stage floor.

Lighting effects then make it look as though Swift is swimming underneath the catwalk connecting the B-stage and her main stage. When she emerges on the main stage, she performs Midnights single “Lavender Haze” wearing a brand new costume.

The “Anti-Hero” singer officially kicked off the Eras Tour in Glendale, Ariz. — temporarily renamed “Swift City” in her honor — with a pair of State Farm Stadium shows Friday and Saturday night (March 17-18). There were many other stunning moments throughout the concert that left Swifties reeling, from Tay’s sexy “Vigilante Shit” dance routine to her calling out Evermore critics, but the unexpected dive was definitely one of the big standouts. Almost immediately, clips of the plunge started going viral on Twitter, sparking jokes, memes and all-around awe from fans.

Bruce Springsteen Busted Out a Standells Classic During the E Street’s Boston Show

Bruce Springsteen always knows how to give the people exactly what they want. The Boss proved it once again on Monday night (March 20) at Boston’s TD Garden Arena when he gave the Beantown faithful a taste of one of their hometown anthems when he busted out The Standells’ 1965 ode to some of the city’s iconic faces and places, “Dirty Water.”

According to Boston.com, the run through the garage rock tune came at the top of a 50-minute encore and it was just one of several Boston mentions Bruce tossed out over the course of the show. The rocker also dedicated the classic “Thunder Road” to the nurses, doctors and staff at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute and encouraged his fans to donate to the volunteers from the Greater Boston Food Bank who were set up around the arena.

“Dirty Water” was written by the Standells’ producer Ed Cobb, a California native, and it makes mentions of the city’s notoriously fouled Charles River and Boston Harbor (hence, “Dirty Water”), the totally unfair midnight curfew imposed upon female students at Boston University (“Frustrated women… have to be in by 12 o’clock”) as well as the subject of the recent Keira Knightley film Boston Strangler (“have you heard about the strangler?”).

In the years since, the song by the Los Angeles band has become an anthem for Boston sports teams, including hockey’s Boston Bruins and Boston Red Sox baseball team. “Dirty Water” peaked at No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 in June 1965.

Miley Cyrus’ ‘Flowers’ Adds Eighth Week at No. 1 on Billboard Global Charts

Miley Cyrus’ “Flowers” remains the biggest song in the world, as it scores an eighth week at No. 1 on both the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts (dated March 25).

“Flowers” is from Cyrus’s new album, Endless Summer Vacation, which debuts at No. 3 on the U.S.-based Billboard 200 chart. It’s her 14th top 10, including those under her former Disney Channel-era Hannah Montana alter ego, a run that began in 2006.

The Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. surveys, which began in September 2020, rank songs based on streaming and sales activity culled from more than 200 territories around the world, as compiled by Luminate. The Global 200 is inclusive of worldwide data and the Global Excl. U.S. chart comprises data from territories excluding the United States.

Chart ranks are based on a weighted formula incorporating official-only streams on both subscription and ad-supported tiers of audio and video music services, as well as download sales, the latter of which reflect purchases from full-service digital music retailers from around the world, with sales from direct-to-consumer (D2C) sites excluded from the charts’ calculations.

Here’s the Dirt: ‘Flowers’ Holds Atop Global 200

Cyrus’ “Flowers” claims an eighth week at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200, with 104.6 million streams (up 7%) and 32,000 sold (up 10%) worldwide in the March 10-16 tracking week.

The song notches its eighth week of over 100 million worldwide streams. Only The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber’s “Stay” has logged more such frames since the Global 200 started: nine, in August-October 2021.

The Weeknd and Ariana Grande’s “Die for You” is steady at its No. 2 Global 200 high; Karol G and Shakira’s “TQG” holds at No. 3 two weeks after it soared in at the summit; SZA’s “Kill Bill” keeps at No. 4, following two weeks on top in January; and PinkPantheress and Ice Spice’s “Boy’s a Liar, Pt. 2” rebounds 6-5, after hitting No. 3.

Cyrus Also No. 1 on Global Excl. U.S.

As on the Global 200, Cyrus’ “Flowers” posts an eighth week at No. 1 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart, with 79.9 million streams (up 5%) and 16,000 sold (up 1%) outside the U.S. March 10-16.

The rest of the Global Excl. U.S. top five holds in place from the week before: Karol G and Shakira’s “TQG,” at No. 2 two weeks after it premiered at the pinnacle; The Weeknd and Ariana Grande’s “Die for You,” at its No. 3 best for a third week; Rema and Selena Gomez’s “Calm Down,” at No. 4 following two weeks on top in January; and SZA’s “Kill Bill,” at No. 5 after reaching No. 2.

Freshest Find: Ric Wilson, Chromeo & A-Trak, “Clusterfunk”

Ric Wilson, Chromeo, & A-Trak have joined forces for the uber-wavy collaborative project, CLUSTERFUNK. Ahead of the nine-track set arriving March 31 via EMPIRE, the trio released the tantalizing single “Clusterfunk.” On it, Wilson delivers a number of unique flows, effortlessly melding the old and the new in a sonic ode to his hometown of Chicago.

Lo Village, “On Your Way”

After years of healing and growing, Maryland trio Lo Village has returned with “On Your Way.” For the group, the robust single “exists as a reminder that the journey doesn’t begin until you look within and bet on yourself. You will run in circles until this is understood,” the group says in a statement.

BLK ODYSSY feat. Bootsy Collins, “Honeysuckle Neckbone”

“Honeysuckle Neckbone” tells the story of a remorseful man who has lost his first love. The recurring phrase “sweet like candy“ references the intimate, addicting times the lovers shared, but also the bittersweet taste candy leaves when over-indulging. BLK ODYSSY linked with bassist Bootsy Collins to capture his ability to fuse jazz instrumentation with R&B/hip-hop melodies.

Veeze, “GOMD”

“If I had a dollar for every time these n—as hate, I’d be rich like Jay and Ye,” Veeze opens on his new single “GOMD.” The Detroit rapper declares that he “got rich with Babyface [Ray]” as the two came up “making plays.” On “GOMD,” Veeze expands on his calculated wordplay using woozy metaphors and similes to compare his success to that of other artists and public figures.

Rory feat. Jay Electronica and reggie, “Enough”

Rory recruits Jay Electronica and reggie for his new single, “Enough.” The single’s alt-soul rhythm is paired with a cinematic visual that sees Rory and his dog aimlessly roaming around a couple’s house. “Enough” is a single from his upcoming album, which he’s been curating for the last three years with new talent in the R&B space.

Ni’jah, “Agatha”

Donald Glover’s new thriller Swarm has been all the rage since premiering last Friday (March 17). Alongside the show, which stars actress Dominique Fishback, the creators also released a Swarm EP via RCA, featuring (of course) Childish Gambino, KIRBY and the series’ central fictional pop star, Ni’jah. “Agatha” is a bold rap anthem from Ni’jah, who is played by Nirine S. Brown.

Alex Vaughn & Ari Lennox, “Demon Time”

Alex Vaughn has quite the crew of homegirls. On her latest offering, HOMEGIRL PACK, she enlists R&B queens Ari Lennox, Summer Walker and Muni Long across three tracks. “Demon Time” proves to be a standout moment, as Lennox and Vaughn harmonize like honey, outlining their sexual conquests unapologetically.

Princess Nokia, “angels & demons”

On her latest break-up-centric EP i love you but this is goodbye, Princess Nokia goes the softer route — save for on “demons & angels.” “I would cover us in blood/ With a knife to a dove/ ‘Cause forever is my angle,” she yells passionately over the somber chorus.

6lack, “fatal attraction” 

6lack has irresistible singles down to a science. On “fatal attraction,” the East Atlanta mainstay sticks to his foolproof formula, delivering vulnerable verses overtop romantic pianos and trap drums. The track arrives ahead of 6lack’s upcoming album, Since I Have A Lover, set to arrive March 24.

Amaarae, “Reckless & Sweet”

Amaarae is bringing all the sensual energy on “Reckless & Sweet.” The Ghanaian singer’s whispery tone pulls listeners in, while the delectable visual and body-swaying production keeps us all eyes and ears for the two-and-a-half-minute ride.
