“I’ve walked some dark hallways. Almighty’s riding shotgun. But I feel pretty good, you know? You have good days and bad days. It’s a little bit of a roller coaster. I’m doing a lot better than I was this time last year,” he told Extra on the red carpet. To keep strong, the 60-year-old star keeps it simple. “Just my faith. I’ve always rode with a prayer. As long as I have Him with me, I’m cool. You just have to dig in. You don’t have a choice.”

Keith revealed his diagnosis in June 2022. “Last fall I was diagnosed with stomach cancer,” Keith began his tweet. “I’ve spent the last 6 months receiving chemo, radiation and surgery. So far, so good. I need time to breathe, recover and relax.”

The singer added, “I am looking forward to spending time with my family. But I will see the fans sooner than later. I can’t wait.”

During the People’s Choice Country Awards, Keith performed “Don’t Let the Old Man In,” which he wrote for Clint Eastwood’s The Mule, but the song had a more harrowing feeling in light of the diagnosis. “And I knew all of my life / That someday it would end / Get up and go outside / Don’t let the old man in,” he sings on the reflective track.

Kelsea Ballerini Thinks Taylor Swift & Travis Kelce Are a ‘Vibe’

Kelsea Ballerini is on the Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce train.

“I love Travis. We did SNL together. I love Taylor. We were close for many years. I want happiness for everyone, so vibe,” the country star told Extra on the red carpet at the first People’s Choice Country Awards.

Ballerini was also discussed Swift’s rumored romance by Access Hollywood, with the interviewer asking, “Do you ship this?”

“I ship happiness!” Ballerini responded. “Whoever is happy with whoever is what I ship. I adore Taylor. I adore Travis. So if they’re happy, I ship it. Period.”

She also opened up a bit about her relationship with Outer Banks star Chase Stokes, noting that she attended the show solo because the actor is in Los Angeles. “He was here for rehearsals. It was his first time at the Opry, so it was fun showing him around when it was much calmer. He’s doing his thing and I’m doing mine.”

Ballerini also noted that Stokes is, in fact, a country fan. “He grew up in Georgia, so I got me a country boy, don’t worry,” she gushed.

The singer is performing at the inaugural awards show, hosted by Little Big Town. Brothers Osborne will present the Country Champion award to Wynonna JuddBlake Shelton will present the Country Icon award to Toby Keith.

Marilyn Manson Settles Rape Lawsuit

A week before trial was set to start, Marilyn Manson has reached a settlement with a woman who sued him for rape, Billboard can confirm.

Adam Wolf, the attorney for the woman known only as “Jane Doe,” filed the notice of settlement in Los Angeles court on Wednesday (Sept. 27). The lawyer will submit a request to dismiss the case within 45 days.

“Brian is pleased that, just as previous lawsuits were abandoned without payment or settled for pennies on the dollar, this plaintiff has now agreed to drop her suit in exchange for an insurance payment representing a fraction of her demands and far less than the cost to Brian of proceeding to trial,” Manson’s attorney Howard King shared in a press statement.

Following the news, Doe told Rolling Stone in a statement, “I was fully prepared for trial and never in a million years thought I would ever settle, but over the past two-and-a-half years I have silently endured threats, bullying, harassment and various forms of intimidation that have intensified over the past few weeks.” She noted that Manson attended her deposition and that she was “forced to answer seven hours of aggressive questioning with him staring at me from across the table.” She continued, “I’ve been told that this almost never happens, as it’s cruel, and that a main reason for it would be to intimidate and inflict emotional distress on a victim.”

“I never cared about money and only ever wanted justice, but if we had gone to trial, I could have lost my right to anonymity and been victim-blamed on a large and public scale,” she added. “Most importantly I could have risked losing the freedom to tell my story, and that is worth more than anything in the world.”

Doe initially filed a lawsuit against Manson (real name Brian Warner) in June 2021 for allegedly raping and torturing her in 2011. In the complaint, she claimed that for 10 years, she had repressed memories of being raped by Manson and only recovered them in February 2021 when other women stepped forward with accusations against him.

The woman’s complaint further claimed that following the alleged assault, Manson threatened to kill her, saying he would “bash her head in.” It went on to state that he said he would “get away with it” because he was a “celebrity who had contacts with the police.” She also alleged that Manson kept in almost constant contact with her and deprived her of food, claiming he told her “that because she was his girlfriend, she needed to lose weight because her weight embarrassed him.”

In September 2021, however, the lawsuit was dismissed by Judge Gregory Keosian, who stated that the accuser’s claims of repressed memories were “not sufficient” to overrule the two-year statute of limitations. While Keosian stated that the claim of repressed memories “is common for sexual assault victims,” he ruled that more was needed to invoke California’s “delayed-discovery” rule. The rule effectively postpones the start date of the statute of limitations if the plaintiff can prove that they first became aware of the injury within two years of filing their complaint, regardless of when the incident itself took place. The judge gave her 20 days from the ruling to amend and refile her complaint, and it was refiled eight days later with more information about her repressed memories.

Over the past two years, Manson has been hit with sexual assault lawsuits by multiple women, including Game of Thrones actress and former girlfriend Esme Bianco, his former personal assistant Ashley Walters and ex-girlfriend Ashley Morgan Smithline. The lawsuits filed by Walters and Smithline have since been dismissed, while Manson settled with Bianco in January. Smithline later recanted her accusations and claimed that Manson’s former girlfriend, Evan Rachel Wood — whose initial allegation of sexual abuse by Manson in February 2021 opened up a tidal wave of similar claims against the singer — had pressured her to make the claim, which Wood later denied. Smithline’s recantation tied in with a March 2022 defamation lawsuit Manson had filed against Wood that accused the actress of launching an “organized attack” against him, but a judge dismissed much of that lawsuit this past May.

Stories about sexual assault allegations can be traumatizing for survivors of sexual assault. If you or anyone you know needs support, you can reach out to the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network (RAINN). The organization provides free, confidential support to sexual assault victims. Michael Bibi Plays Surprise Set in Ibiza Days After Leaving Hospital Amid Cancer Treatment

Michael Bibi played a surprise set Thursday (Sept. 28) at DC-10 in Ibiza, marking his first show back following the June announcement of his cancer diagnosis.

Taking place at the closing party for Bibi’s Solid Grooves label at the famed club, the surprise set was streamed live via Bibi’s Instagram, with the British producer playing for a packed crowd and appearing to break down in tears at one point during the performance. Earlier Thursday, the producer indicated such a set might happen after tweeting “one life, live it.” The message came after Bibi’s Tuesday announcement that he was temporarily out of the hospital amid his ongoing cancer treatment.

“When I first came into hospital I was barely able to walk,” Bibi wrote on Instagram along with a photo of himself standing outside the hospital smiling. “Today I walk out with a smile having completed my main treatment. Tired but happy…My fight against cancer is not over…but for now a break & some extra time to enjoy life.”

In June, Bibi’s management agency announced that the producer was undergoing treatment for CNS Lymphoma, a rare form of cancer, and that he wouldn’t be playing any shows for the “foreseeable future.” At the time, he’d been in the midst of his Solid Grooves residency at DC-10, with a flurry of other European festival dates on his schedule.

According to Cancer.gov, primary central nervous system (CNS) lymphoma is “a disease in which malignant [cancer] cells form in the lymph tissue of the brain and/or spinal cord.” The lymph system is part of the immune system, which is made up of lymph, lymph vessels, lymph nodes, the spleen, thymus, tonsils and bone marrow.”

Willie Nelson Expands Collection of No. 1 Albums With ‘Bluegrass’ Debut

Music legend Willie Nelson may be best known for as a country superstar, but some might not realize he’s visited many other Billboard album genre charts outside of the Top Country Albums chart — where’s racked up a record 53 top 10s, with 18 of them hitting No. 1. Over the years, Nelson has placed high-charting efforts on these genre-specific album rankings: Blues Albums, Kid Albums, Reggae Albums, Traditional Jazz Albums, Jazz Albums, Americana/Folk Albums and Top Christian Albums.

On the album, Nelson reinterprets a dozen of his older songs, joined by a bluegrass ensemble. Billboard’s Bluegrass Albums chart ranks the top-selling bluegrass albums of the week in the U.S., based on traditional album sales, as tracked by Luminate. In the week ending Sept. 21, Nelson’s Bluegrass sold 3,000 copies.

Taylor Swift Inspires Heinz to Launch Limited-Edition ‘Ketchup & Seemingly Ranch’ Bottle

Move over, mayochup! There is a wackier, trendier condiment combo in town, and it’s all thanks to Taylor Swift.

Over the weekend, the “Anti-Hero” singer made waves when she attended the Kansas City Chiefs’ football game in light of her rumored romance with tight end Travis Kelce, and her choice of condiments for her game day chicken tenders meal — ketchup and “seemingly ranch” — went viral. So viral, that Heinz has rebranded the condiment combo and made it a limited-edition bottle.

Heinz confirmed in a Tuesday post on Instagram that Ketchup and Seemingly Ranch (Taylor’s Version) will be released in the coming months. “It’s a new Era for Heinz. Introducing Ketchup and Seemingly Ranch. Limited-edition bottles coming soon. #SeeminglyRanch #ItHasToBeHeinz,” the company captioned the post.

The condiment flavor — which already exists within the company as “kranch” but is receiving a tangy rebrand just for the pop star — is inspired directly by Swift and Kelce’s budding relationship, a spokesperson revealed in a statement to The Independent. “In honor of #Traylor, Heinz (Arrowhead Stadium’s supplier of both Ketchup AND Ranch) is creating a ‘Taylor’s Version’ of its iconic Kranch sauce and releasing 100 bottles of Limited-Edition ‘Ketchup and Seemingly Ranch’ sauce,” the spokesperson said.

The spokesperson additionally confirmed that 100 bottles of the sauce are due to the sum of Kelce’s football jersey number 87 and Swift’s lucky number 13.

Fans of Swift’s seemingly approve of Heinz supporting their favorite pop star’s condiments of choice. “I saw Taylor Swift eating ketchup and seemingly ranch, so I ate ketchup and seemingly ranch,” one fan wrote in the comments section of the brand’s instagram post. Another added, “This is Taylor’s world and we’re just living in it.”

Ketchup and Seemingly Ranch is likely to sell out quickly, as with Swift’s merch, but don’t worry — the flavor is still available to purchase as Kranch. You can purchase the sauce here.

Pregnant Ciara Will Make You Do a Double Take as She Lip-Syncs to Missy Elliott’s ‘Lose Control’

Missy Elliott‘s opening verse on “Lose Control” has taken on a brand-new meaning for Ciara.

The 37-year-old R&B star, who features on the 2005 hit, took to TikTok on Wednesday to do a little seated dance while showing off her baby bump.

In the video, a pregnant and bare-faced Ciara sips from a cup while dancing to the track. The caption’s video reads, “Friend: Speak life into yourself at all times boo!” with a blank space for “Me (Ciara)” dancing with her curving tummy. Ciara lip-syncs to Elliott’s opening verse — “I got a cute face/ Chubby waist/ Thick legs in shape/ Rump shaking both ways/ Make you do a double take” — and cheekily sticks out her tongue at the end of the video.

This is far from the first time Ciara has danced with her baby bump on display. Shortly after announcing that she was pregnant with a fourth child — her third with husband Russell Wilson — the star made a TikTok of her dancing on Aug. 14 set to her recent single, “How We Roll” with Chris Brown, which contains a nod to the football star.

“Yeah, top off, summer in the wind/ You look at me like that again, we make another kid/ You my heart, I’m your rib,” she lip-synched in the video, stepping away from the camera to dance and rub her baby bump. “If I ever had to for you, I would do a bid/ And I can tell that you’re ready/ Three, two, one, it’s goin’ down like confetti/ Pour the ten to one shots again/ If we film it on the phone, promise that we gonna trend.”

’90 Day Fiance’ Star Yara Zaya Recalls Surprise DM From Rihanna: ‘My Heart Dropped to My Knees’

Rihanna knows a good mom when she sees one! 90 Day Fiancé star Yara Zaya revealed that she once got a sweet DM from the “Where Have You Been” singer with regards to her parenting skills.

“I realized it, I was jumping and I couldn’t breathe, ‘Oh my gosh!’” Zaya recalled in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. Zaya was the one who started the exchange, after seeing that the pop star and beauty mogul was expecting once again: “I messaged her to tell her congratulations when she was pregnant, OK? And she messaged me back and say, you’re such a good mom and I wish I could be good mama like you.”

“It was the sweetest message ever,” Zaya’s husband, Jovi Dufren, added.

So how does one respond to a DM from one of the world’s biggest stars? “I would type and delete and type and delete and type and delete,” she said. “I was so excited. My heart dropped to my knees, that was good enough.”

Ultimately, Zaya’s response remains a blur — she remembers sending the Fenty Beauty founder a “thank you” message but nothing else afterward.

Rihanna seems to be knocking motherhood out of the park as well. She and boyfriend A$AP Rocky are parents to their two children, sons RZA Athelston Mayers and Riot Rose Mayers. She welcomed Riot this past summer on Aug. 21 and later unveiled the first photos of him since his birth on Sept. 19, with a stylish family photo shoot by photographer Diggzy.

Britney Spears’ Viral Knife Dance Video Spurs Police Wellness Check

Months after Britney Spears requested fans give her privacy after they reportedly called the cops to her residence, the police performed another wellness check on the “Toxic” singer after her recent social media post went viral for all the wrong reasons.

On Tuesday, the Grammy-winning pop star posted a video to Instagram that showed her dancing and twirling with what appeared to be a kitchen knife in each hand. A now-edited caption for the video reads: “I started playing in the kitchen with knives today !!! Don’t worry they are NOT real knives !!! Halloween is soon !!!” The post quickly went viral across social media platforms, with some users expressing concern for Britney’s well-being.

According to NBC News, authorities performed a wellness check on the star after fans’ concern gained steam. A source told the outlet that “this is overblown. [Spears] was expressing her freedom as she continues to do.” In all fairness to the “Gimme More” singer, these types of dancing videos have been commonplace on her Instagram feed for years. Nonetheless, the knives are a new addition. In the caption for an Instagram post on Wednesday — this time with knife-less dancing — Spears wrote, “Lighten up about the knives I’m copying Shakira !!!” Her comment was in reference to Shakira’s recent Video Vanguard performance at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards, during which she danced with knives.

Captain Dean Worthy of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office told Billboard: “The Sheriff’s Communications Center received a call from the Los Angeles Police Department SMART team — that’s their Systemwide Mental Assessment Response Team — and they asked us if we would go to Ms. Spears’ residence and perform a check for well-being. This was on the heels of a tip they got not from a fan, but from an individual who is close to Miss Spears and knows her on a personal level that asks that we check her.”

He continued, “We sent one of our sergeants named Sergeant McConville. He’s worked in that area for years. He knows Ms. Spears from prior encounters at the residence. He responded to the house, went through the first security gate. Upon arriving at the second security gate, he was contacted via the intercom system by [Spears’] head of security, who relayed to Sergeant McConville that that she was absolutely fine, that she did not wish to speak with the officer, or have him come in the house, but he was with her and there was absolutely nothing wrong. Her safety was not in jeopardy, from others or self-harm.”

Representatives for Spears did not immediately respond to Billboard‘s request for comment.

Captain Worthy also noted that Spears’ attorney said this was “an overreaction for her expressing herself on social media.” After confirming with “two independent people that closely know [Spears]” that she was of sound mind, “we did our due diligence to check her well-being and we did not believe that she was in any harm whatsoever,” Worthy concluded.

This ordeal is reminiscent of a similar situation in January. After Spears deleted her Instagram page, concerned fans called cops to her house, who then deduced that nothing was wrong. “This felt like I was being gaslit and bullied once the incident made it to the news and being portrayed once again in a poor and unfair light by the media,” she wrote in a note responding to the impromptu police visit. “During this time in my life, I truly hope the public and my fans who I care so much about can respect my privacy moving forward. All the love, B.”

This latest brush with law enforcement comes after Spears separated from husband Sam Asghari, who filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. In spite of all the drama, Spears has remained musically active this year. In July, she teamed up with will.i.am for “Mind Your Business,” which peaked at No. 8 on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs. Her 2002 film Crossroads is also being re-released in theaters for two days only: Oct. 25 & 28.
