Drake Debuts at No. 1 In Australia With ‘For All The Dogs’

Drake collars Australia’s albums chart as For All The Dogs (via Republic/Universal) bows to No. 1.

For All The Dogs starts at the summit of the new ARIA Chart, published Friday, Oct. 13, for Drizzy’s fifth No. 1 Down Under, following Views (2016), Scorpion (2018), Dark Lane Demo Tapes (2020) and Certified Lover Boy (2021).

Lead single “Slime You Out” featuring SZA peaked at No. 12 in September, and vaults on the latest singles chart, up 65-13. It’s one of 20 For All The Dogs tracks which impact the top 100 of the national singles survey, including three in the top 10, led by “First Person Shooter” featuring J. Cole at No. 4.

Meanwhile, Olivia Rodrigo‘s sophomore set Guts (Geffen/Universal) is unchanged at No. 2 on the ARIA Albums Chart.

Also new to the top 10 is Aussie rock outfit The Screaming Jets, with their ninth studio album, Professional Misconduct (Independent). It’s new at No. 3, for the band’s fifth top 10 appearance following All For One (No. 2 in 1991), Tear Of Thought (No. 3 in 1992), The Screaming Jets (No. 5 in 1995) and All For One 30th Anniversary Edition (No. 4 in 2021). The latest album includes contributions from founding bass player Paul Woseen, who died Sept. 15 at the age of 56.

ARIA Hall of Fame-inducted singer Russell Morris lands at No. 5 with The Real Thing: Symphonic Concert (MGM), recorded in Melbourne in July with the 54-piece Southern Cross Symphony and his 10-piece band. The “Real Thing” singer has released 15 studio albums, three live albums and six compilations since launching his recording career in 1969. Morris set a career high in 2014 when Van Diemen’s Land peaked at No. 4.

Close behind on the fresh ARIA Chart is Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers, who enjoy a top tier start with I Love You (Domestic La La), the Canberra four-piece pop-punk band’s debut LP. It’s new at No. 6.

Also crashing the top 10 is NCT Dream’s Fact Check (Virgin Music Australia/Universal), the fourth studio album from the sub-unit of South Korean boyband NCT. It’s new at No. 9. The pop group hit No. 20 in August of this year with ISTJ – The 3rd Album, while another NCT sub-unit, NCT 127, has charted here twice, with a best of No. 3 for 2 Baddies from 2022, ARIA reports.

Over on the ARIA Singles Chart, Doja Cat’s “Paint The Town Red” (RCA/Sony) enters an eighth week at No. 1, respectively beating Tate McRae’s “Greedy” (RCA/Sony) and Kenya Grace’s “Strangers” (Warner) to the line. “Paint The Town Red” ties with Morgan Wallen’s “Last Night” for the second longest-running leader of 2023, behind only Miley Cyrus’ “Flowers” at 12 weeks.

Finally, BLACKPINK star Jennie lands at No. 69 on the ARIA Chart with “You & Me” (YG Entertainment/ Interscope Records), for her first solo appearance on the Australian singles tally.

TOMORROW X TOGETHER Extend ‘Name’ Series With New LP ‘The Name Chapter: FREEFALL’: Stream It Now

TOMORROW X TOGETHER caps a busy stretch with The Name Chapter: FREEFALL, the South Korean five-piece boyband’s fifth album.

The Name Chapter: FREEFALL arrives just two month after the release of Sweet, the lads’ second Japanese-language album, which debuted at No. 3 on the World Albums chart.

This year has also been a sweet one for TXT — comprising Yeonjun, Soobin, Beomgyu, Taehyun and HueningKai. They’re coming off their first No. 1 on the Billboard 200 (and third top 10 appearance on the chart) with The Name Chapter: Temptation, from January 2023; a U.S. late night TV debut; a headline performance at this year’s Lollapalooza; and the release of their collaborative single with the Jonas Brothers, “Do It Like That.”

Produced by Ryan Tedder, the prolific creative behind such hits as OneRepublic’s “Counting Stars” and Beyoncé’s “Halo,” “Do It Like That” was the first team-up by TXT and the U.S. sibling trio, and it appears on the new album.

The new music drop follows a round of teases in August via social media posts on both the band and BigHit Music’s accounts, initially identifying the album’s title and sharing a mysterious video teaser.

The Name Chapter: FREEFALL is the second instalment in the K-pop group’s “name” series, after The Name Chapter: Temptation, which impacted the Billboard 200 for a total of 19 weeks, including one cycle at the summit.

It’s 10 cuts deep, and includes the previously-released singles “Chasing That Feeling” (including a second, English-language version) and “Back for More.”

Something To Give Each Other arrived at the stroke of midnight, its 10 tracks a celebration of “sex, dance, sweat, community, queerness, love and friendship,” and passage through a challenging time.

It’s the followup to Sivan’s sophomore album from 2018, Bloom, which peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard 200, one of his four top 10 appearances on the chart.

The new LP includes the single “Rush” which has amassed over 215 million combined global streams and debuted on 12 Billboard charts, including a No. 77 bow on the Hot 100; and follow-up single “Got Me Started,” which has raked in over 30 million combined streams, according to EMI.

Written and recorded in London, Los Angeles, Melbourne and Sweden, Sivan worked closely on Something with a collection of collaborators, including Oscar Görres (Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Sam Smith), Ian Kirkpatrick (Dua Lipa, Britney Spears), AG Cook (Charli XCX, Beyoncé), Styalz Fuego (Khalid, Imagine Dragons) and Leland (Selena Gomez), and creative director Gordon von Steiner.

To celebrate the fresh release, Sivan shares the official music video for album track “One Of Your Girls,” which features actor and musician Ross Lynch. The clip, which can be seen below, was created by the team behind the videos for “Rush” and “Got Me Started” — director von Steiner, cinematographer Stuart Winecoff (JAY Z, FKA twigs, Miu Miu) and choreographer Sergio Reis (BTS’ “Black Swan”).

The 28-year-old is firmly established in the fields of pop, fashion, film and LGBTQI+ culture, and has been a fixture on U.S. TV over this past week, with spots on the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, and more. He’s the cover star for the September 2023 issue of Rolling Stone AU/NZ.

The five-year gap between albums, “it wasn’t intentional,” he told Fallon. “It was just like, I started working on it then COVID (happened), then I was filming a TV show, doing whatever. It just took a long time. I’m genuinely, like, this is the most proud I’ve ever been of anything.”

Ice Spice & Rema Unite on ‘Pretty Girl’ Single: Stream It Now

Ice Spice has recruited Rema for her newest single “Pretty Girl,” which was released on Friday (Oct. 13).

This marks the first time the Bronx-bred rapper, who’s Nigerian by way of her father, and the Nigerian Afro-rave singer have collaborated on a song. But the two are no strangers to collaboration. Ice’s four Billboard Hot 100 top 10 hits are with other artists: “Karma” with Taylor Swift (peaked at No. 2), “Boy’s a liar, Pt. 2” with PinkPantheress (No. 3), “Princess Diana” with Nicki Minaj (No. 4) and “Barbie World” with Minaj and Aqua (No. 7). Meanwhile, Rema’s “Calm Down” remix with Selena Gomez reached No. 3 on the Hot 100 and topped Billboard‘s U.S. Afrobeats Songs, Adult Pop Airplay, Pop Airplay, Rhythmic Airplay and World Digital Song Sales charts. “Calm Down” won the best Afrobeats award at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards last month.

“Pretty Girl” arrives the day before Ice’s Saturday Night Live debut on the 49th season premiere, which will be hosted by Pete Davidson. It’s the first episode since the live sketch comedy show shut down in May due to the recently resolved writers’ strike. Earlier this week, she won the best breakthrough hip-hop artist award at the 2023 BET Hip-Hop Awards.

Next month, Ice will open on select dates for Doja Cat‘s Scarlet Tour. Rema was recently announced as the co-headliner alongside Kendrick Lamar for the second night of the Hey Neighbour Festival in Pretoria, South Africa. The festival will take place Dec. 8-10.

Offset Drops Star-Studded Album ‘Set It Off’ With Cardi B, Travis Scott, Future & More: Stream It Now

Today (Oct. 13), Offset is back with his long-awaited sophomore album Set It Off, marking his first solo album in four years.

The 21-track effort is a star-studded affair, as the Migos MC enlists Cardi B, Future, Travis Scott, Latto, Don Toliver, and more for his highly personal offering. To warm fans up, Set released two singles in “Jealousy” featuring Cardi and his “Fan.” His debut effort, Father of 4, spawned his multi-platinum single “Clout.”

Since his first solo effort, Offset experienced the passing of TakeOff, who was shot and killed in Houston last year.

“Even on my own journey, I still feel his presence and his energy like, bro, ‘We got to go hard. We got to win. We got to win. This ain’t the end of it. We got to win,’” the “Clout” rapper told Apple Music in a new interview. “So that’s another thing that pushed me through is my boy, Take, man. He didn’t care that he didn’t care about the numbers, nothing. He like, ‘Bro, y’all’s s–t hard.’ He’s just very supportive in that. I just keep that in the back of my mind and just keep pushing.”

He also spoke about TakeOff’s temperament and what made him uplifting. 

“Take had that… he just had good character. He just was like, ‘I make music with people that love my music and I love everybody.’ He’s a loving person, man,” he told Zane Lowe. “It was just a tragedy my boy had to go like that, man. But I’m pushing for him too. Legacy, the group thing is it can’t be a group because our main member is missing.”

Bad Bunny Drops ‘Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana’: Stream His New Album Now

We may not know what will happen tomorrow but what we do know is that Bad Bunny‘s new album is finally here. Titled Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana, which loosely translates to, “nobody knows what will happen tomorrow,” the name of his new album captures Bunny’s unpredictability and knack for keeping his fans on the edge.

Just last month, after releasing his latest reggaeton single “Un Preview,” the Puerto Rican superstar told his more-than 15 million followers on his WhatsApp Channel that “this is possibly the last song I release this year. It’s a little preview of what’s to come next year,” leaving fans thinking he wouldn’t release new music for the remainder of 2023. But, in true Bad Bunny fashion, he’s not only released one song, he’s gifted fans an entire album.

On Monday (Oct. 9), the chart-topping singer took to Instagram to share the album title and release date. “The most anticipated day by many has arrived,” he captioned the promo video in which he’s seen swarmed by paparazzi before entering a fancy restaurant and being greeted by a gentleman who says, “Don Benito, it’s so nice to see you.”

Just hours before dropping the record, Apple Music unveiled the tracklist with new songs such as “Mr. October,” “Gracias Por Nada,” “No Me Quiero Casar” and “Thunder y Lightning,” featuring collabs with Feid, Arcángel, Young Miko and De La Ghetto, among others. The set also includes the previously-released “Where She Goes” and “Un Preview.”

Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana follows Bad Bunny’s blockbuster Un Verano Sin Ti. The album, only the second all Spanish-language album to hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200, spent 13 nonconsecutive weeks atop the tally. It was also up for album of the year at the Grammy Awards, becoming the first Spanish-language album to score a nomination in that category.

Taylor Swift Is Back in Kansas City to Watch Travis Kelce’s Chiefs vs. Broncos Game

Taylor Swift is back in Kansas City.

One day after her Eras Tour film had its star-studded premiere in Los Angeles, the superstar was spotted heading to Travis Kelce‘s suite on Thursday night (Oct. 12), rocking a Kansas City Chiefs windbreaker and a black miniskirt with black heeled boots. In a TikTok posted by the NFL’s official account, Swift is escorted to the suite for the Thursday Night Football game between the Chiefs and Broncos, while waving to cheering fans.

This is the third Chiefs game Swift has attended over the past month, with the first being on Sept. 24, when the Chiefs faced off against the Chicago Bears at Arrowhead Stadium. The pair left the stadium together, as seen in a clip that sports reporter Jarrett Payton shared on X. Kelce and Swift were then spotted riding off together in his convertible, according to photos acquired by TMZ.

The second game was on Oct. 1 in New Jersey, when the Chiefs played the New York Jets. She arrived with a group of famous friends, including Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman.

Kelce’s ongoing courtship of Swift began back in July, when he tried (and failed) to hand her a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it during her Eras Tour stop in Kansas City — at his Arrowhead Stadium home field.

One of These 58 Songwriters Will Win the Second-Ever Grammy for Songwriter of the Year: Full List

Lainey Wilson and HARDY, who won multiple awards for their country hit “Wait in the Truck,” now find themselves competing for a Grammy nomination for songwriter of the year, non-classical (and also for best new artist).

Wilson and HARDY, who is listed as Michael Hardy in songwriting categories, are among 58 songwriting pros who are competing for a nomination for songwriter of the year, non-classical.

The award, which is in its second year, got a big boost from the Recording Academy, which moved it from being the only category in the songwriting field last year to the general field, which also includes record, album and song of the year plus best new artist. Producer of the year, non-classical was also moved up to that high-rent district on the Grammy ballot. The move is expected to greatly increase the number of Academy members who will vote in these two categories.

Songwriter of the year, non-classical was specifically designed to celebrate songwriters who primarily write for other artists, rather than songwriters who are also artists or producers. So how did Wilson and HARDY make the list? Wilson’s entry shows songs she wrote for Ashley McBryde, Mackenzie Porter and more. HARDY’s shows songs he wrote for Morgan Wallen, Jelly Roll and Cole Swindell, in addition to his own work.

Eight past Grammy winners are vying for nominations in the category. The roster includes Liz Rose and Hillary Lindsey, who shared a Grammy for best country song eight years ago for co-writing (with Lori McKenna) the Little Big Town smash “Girl Crush.”

The six other past Grammy winners vying for a nod in this category are Edgar Barrera, Claudia Brant, Jason Ingram, Shane McAnally, Jonathan Smith and Diane Warren.

Warren has received 15 Grammy nominations, more than any other of this year’s other contenders for this award. She has won just one Grammy – best song written specifically for a motion picture or for television for her Celine Dion classic “Because You Loved Me.”

Nija Charles and Laura Veltz, who were nominated in this category last year, are in the running to be nominated two years in a row. But Tobias Jesso Jr., who won the inaugural award, is not on the entry list in this category this year, nor are last year’s nominees Amy Allen and The-Dream.

One songwriting pair is nominated – Mariah Martinez and Dana Victoria Portlalatin.

Lauren Christy is entered with songs she wrote for such artists as Pentatonix and Loud Luxury featuring Bebe Rexha. Christy was nominated for producer of the year, non-classical in 2003 as part of The Matrix (along with Graham Edwards and Scott Spock).

This category is analogous to producer of the year, non-classical, which was introduced in 1974. Thom Bell, one of the architects of the Philadelphia soul sound, was the first winner in that category.

First-round voting for the 66th annual Grammy Awards opened on Wednesday Oct. 11 and closes Oct. 20. Nominees will be announced on Nov. 10 (five days earlier than last year). The final-round voting window extends from Dec. 14 through Jan. 4, 2023 (same as last year). Winners will be announced on Sunday, Feb. 4, 2024, at Crypto.com Arena (formerly known as Staples Center) in Los Angeles.

Offset Says Feeling Takeoff’s Presence Pushed Him to Finish Solo Album ‘Set It Off’

Offset is gearing up to release his upcoming solo album Set It Off on Friday (Oct. 13). Ahead of its arrival, the rapper sat down for a conversation with Apple Music 1’s Zane Lowe, which saw him talking about his late Migos bandmate Takeoff and how his family helps him through creative roadblocks.

Offset explained that losing Takeoff to a fatal shooting late last year was particularly hard because his spirit was genuinely uplifting.

“Take had that… he just had good character. He just was like, ‘I make music with people that love my music and I love everybody.’ He’s a loving person, man,” he told Lowe. “It was just a tragedy my boy had to go like that, man. But I’m pushing for him too. Legacy, the group thing is it can’t be a group because our main member is missing.”

Takeoff’s spirit lives on through Offset’s music, as he recalls the late rapper cheering him on in his solo endeavors — something that allowed him to push on in recording his new project. “Even on my own journey, I still feel his presence and his energy like, bro, ‘We got to go hard. We got to win. We got to win. This ain’t the end of it. We got to win,’” the “Clout” rapper added. “So that’s another thing that pushed me through is my boy, Take, man. He didn’t care that he didn’t care about the numbers, nothing. He like, ‘Bro, y’all’s s–t hard.’ He’s just very supportive in that. I just keep that in the back of my mind and just keep pushing.”

In addition to making music in honor of Takeoff’s memory, Offset shared that he continues to be inspired by his family, who in his words “kept my head on my shoulders” during the album recording process.

“Them being able to be close to me and to hold me tight because I needed family for a long time, man,” he said, referring to his five children and wife Cardi B. “People think everything is peaches and creams with an artist. You go through mental things, you go through things with your family, you go through confidence things, you go through creative block.”

The 31-year-old revealed that he struggled with making music during the summer months but was able to pull himself back together because one of his sons insisted on hearing new material. “It was like they giving me more life when I felt like I was draining … hearing my boys be like, ‘Dad, man, we want to hear your new music. When your new album going to drop? You need to come on.’ It just sparked the juice,” Offset recalled. “‘OK, let’s get back into the grind mode. Let’s get back into it.’”

Set It Off marks Offset’s second solo album; his first, Father of 4, peaked at No. 4 on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart.
