Tones And I Creates History as ‘Dance Monkey’ Passes 3 Billion Streams on Spotify

Tones And I enters the history books once more, as the Australian artist’s monster hit “Dance Monkey” ticks past 3 billion streams on Spotify.

With that feat, Tones (real name: Toni Watson) becomes the first female artist to achieve that streaming milestone.

Since its commercial launch in 2008, Spotify has entered just eight songs into the three billion streams club; with the exception of “Dance Monkey,” all of them are recorded by male artists from North America or the United Kingdom.

At the top of the tree is The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” (4.092 billion streams), ahead of Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You” (3.796 billion) and Lewis Capaldi’s “Someone You Loved” (3.239 billion), respectively.

Trending on Billboard

Since “Dance Monkey” dropped in May 2019, nothing has been quite the same. The single logged 24 non-consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the ARIA Chart, an all-time record, and spent 11 weeks at No. 1 on the Official U.K. Singles Chart, a record for a solo female artist.

Konstantin Kersting produced and mixed the song, which hit No. 1 in more than 30 countries around the world.

Tones, a one-time busker, also nailed a Billboard Hot 100 hit with “Dance Monkey.” The second single from her debut EP The Kids Are Coming, “Dance Monkey” swung to No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100, earned the artist her first top 10 hit on Billboard‘s Pop Airplay, Hot Rock & Alternative Songs and Dance/Mix Show Airplay charts, and Tones claimed top spot on the Hot 100 Songwriters Chart.

Apple, owner of music recognition app Shazam, has named “Dance Monkey” as the most-Shazamed song of all time, with users of the app identifying the track more than 44.4 million times. And in April 2023, the official music video for “Dance Monkey” clocked two billion views on YouTube.

Global streams across Tones’ catalog, which includes 2021’s “Fly Away,” which peaked at No. 11 in the U.K.

Tones is currently opening for Pink’s Summer Carnival stadium tour of Australia which, too, should bust records. When it completes its final show in late March, the trek, produced by Live Nation, is expected to pass 900,000 ticket sales for Australia and New Zealand, a box-office record for a solo female artist.

Earlier in the month, Tones shared the new single “Dreaming,” co-written with Sam Nelson of X Ambassadors and co-produced alongside Nelson and Randy Belculfine.

“Dreaming” will appear on her sophomore album, due out later this year and the followup to 2021’s Welcome to the Madhouse, which debuted at No. 1 on the ARIA Chart.

TWICE Open Up on ‘With YOU-th’ Album Themes of Growing Up & Beyond K-Pop

It takes around 30 minutes, but eventually, TWICE relaxes enough in their New York City hotel room to chitchat and laugh out loud among their nine-member huddle — a stark difference from the professionally guarded and admittedly “nervous” girl group that Billboard spoke with at their first U.S. appearance in 2016.

Ever the humble professionals, the K-pop heroines and their loyal fans have earned the right to comfortably settle into a new, happier routine after growing for nearly nine years together.

Nearly immediately following TWICE’s entry into the K-pop scene in late 2015, members Jihyo, Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Mina, Sana, Momo, Dahyun, Chaeyeon and Tzuyu became reliable chart-toppers and commanded the industry’s attention with every release. Not only did they set the standard for their generation of K-pop acts with nine consecutive No. 1 singles on South Korea’s Circle Chart, the nontet replicated their prominence in the Japanese market (with 20 top 10 entries in the Billboard Japan Hot 100) with a next natural step in cracking the world’s largest industry, the United States.

Trending on Billboard

With a lineup from South Korea, Japan, and Taiwan, the U.S. is a trickier and far less obvious market to embrace TWICE. In K-pop’s ongoing global crossover, where more acts have fluent English speakers and Billboard-charting girl groups are trending towards six or fewer singers, TWICE remains strong with all nine of its original members. After taking over K-pop with the viral performances and dances accompanying singles like “Cheer Up” and “TT,” and solidifying a deeper connection with tracks like their biographical “Feel Special” and the encouragement anthem “Talk That Talk,” now is the moment for the group to let the material strengthen the bond with U.S. audiences.

“‘I Got You’ was influenced by TWICE,” leader Jihyo explains of their latest original English single that kicked off their new era in early February. “It’s us speaking to each other and encouraging each other, which is really great that we can do this together because there are members who can help me when I’m having a hard time, there are members who see me when I’m in a good mood — just being together is encouraging…just like how PD [producer-director J.Y. Park] first made ‘Feel Special,’ the album concept itself is putting together our story. We wanted to showcase how the fans look at our teamwork, and that’s why we chose this song.”

The JYP Entertainment founder and producer behind TWICE hits like “Signal,” “What Is Love?” and “Alcohol-Free,” Park previously told Billboard how a teary meeting discussing relying on their team mates through the hardships of K-pop idol fame inspired him to write the No. 1 single on the spot in 2019. But if “Feel Special” was birthed from TWICE’s hardships and growing pains, “I Got You” and its quick-selling accompanying mini album EP With YOU-th comes from reaching a point of happy stability.

“Up ’til now, we’ve never done a song like this before,” Jihyo adds. “We’ve always been singing songs about the theme of love, and this is more about our friendship, kind of similar to ‘Feel Special,’ and it was really comforting to us because of that…It was actually one of the songs on the album that the members reacted to really well. I thought it was new, but it also felt comfortable. We liked the lyrics [for] the fans and thought the fans would like the lyrics as well.” Momo adds, “While we were performing this song outside [in Mexico City] on tour, the weather was nice, it went so well with the song — just seeing the fans’ expressions was really great to see.”

The sentiment extends to their upbeat lead single, “One Spark,” released alongside With YOU-th on Feb. 23, originally in Korean before the English version dropped days later for maximum global consumption. Lyrics in both versions speak to a unique, undeniable ally through an effervescent tempo-hopping pop jam: “If I lose my rhythm/ Then your beat goes on and on,” Mina and Tzuyu sing on the pre-chorus, with the English version’s chorus shouting out “My favorite person, it’s our golden days/ My heart is burning, burning, burning/ Don’t lose this spark, baby.”

“Actually, we were thinking a lot about which title song [single] we should do between ‘One Spark’ and ‘I Got You,’” explains youngest member Tzuyu, sharing the group’s opinion heavily influences their musical path today, but joke they’ll take 100 percent creative control at 10 years. “We voted between the two songs of what should be the title track single. I think ‘One Spark’ is actually a great song performance-wise and we can put on quite a powerful stage performance.”

“Compared to, let’s say, ‘Set Me Free,’ the choreo is a bit more complicated with a lot more movement to consider with our stage outfits,” Chaeyoung adds about bringing the new single to life. “It’s a faster song. It’s tough, but we worked hard on this choreo and felt like we grew, so I’m glad we’re doing it. Even in the music video, once we’re together and partying, the mood explodes. Of course, people can take it in this way, and others might see it a little bit differently, but overall, we just wanted to showcase the good energy among us and how much synergy we have within the group.”

But alongside the celebratory mood, a poignant moment in the music video comes during a flashback when viewers see Dahyun crying in the dance studio with several members trying to cheer her up. While Dahyun admits she had a tear dropper on set just in case, she ultimately “really wanted to express my own emotions, so I just cried by myself without any tools.”

“The music video shows us in their past during our trainee times when we were going through a hard time,” Jihyo says. “We wanted to showcase how we push each other throughout those hard times working as a team.”

Admitting that the trip down memory lane brought back “sad emotions,” Nayeon adds how “even if this didn’t happen during that trainee time exactly, we thought about how, throughout our history, there were a lot of these kinds of moments.”

Momo says the new album process brought back her experiences with Sixteen, the 2015 singing competition show that created the group. “I was actually remembering when I was first eliminated on Sixteen and crying,” she shares. “All the members were there with me. And when we were filming, one of us had to go to the emergency room and all the members were together.”

Exploring a deeper connection with each other and their loyal fans — affectionately known as ONCE — is a central theme in With YOU-th.

A teaser video previewing all six new tracks on the EP shows what one might imagine a longtime superfan’s room may look like, with different memorabilia, imagery, and visual references from past eras accompanying the audio. With YOU-th is not just a message of togetherness but marks them moving and maturing through the years.

“Around our debut, or even a few years ago, many of our fans still went to school and now go to work. Or there may have been a few in middle school and now in high school,” Sana reflects. “We take a lot of pride in seeing them and how they grow. We’re really thankful that we have fans who have been with us throughout their time as we grew with our career.” TWICE even know two ONCEs who ended up marrying each other.

Three B-side tracks on With YOU-th feature three TWICE members as sole songwriters sharing their experience of growing more mature and fearless in their creative processes.

‘Bloom’ is a song about asking someone to wait,” Jeongyeon shares of the track she wrote. “Referencing a flower, the last step would be when the flower blooms, meaning I will come to grab you then and hold you.”

Chaeyoung felt inspired by alt-pop star PinkPantheress while writing “Rush.” “While I was listening, I felt like a Jersey Club rhythm, kind of like PinkPantheress’ music, and thought the sound itself was quite cute and lovely, so I wanted to bring that in the emotions in the lyrics in a fun way,” the Seoul native says. “Lyric-wise, it’s about approaching something or someone, so I wrote it in a more fun way.”

Bringing the record full circle, With YOU-th closes with the Dahyun-penned “You Get Me” that connects to “I Got You” by expanding on a relationship more profound than words.

“The lyrics say how ‘even if we don’t say anything, you already know me,’” explains Dahyun. “It’s a warm, easy-listening song, and I really wanted to write the lyrics as soon as I heard it. I was able to do that, so I’m really happy about that and can’t wait for the fans to listen.”

While teasing that “ONCEs are going to be really busy this year,” there is certainly a concerted focus on ensuring TWICE can and will keep developing.

“The biggest thing is that K-pop has become so global,” reflects Mina, as TWICE moves into contention for their first No. 1 on the Billboard 200 — an arguably overdue feat as they hold the largest U.S. sales week for a female K-pop act when Ready to Be earned 153,000 equivalent album units last year. “I think that teams’ lifespans have generally been extended a lot and that we’ll be able to do much more in the future. There have been a lot more opportunities to take advantage of because of the global expansion of K-pop. If there’s something wrong, we’ll tell the company, but as long as the fans want to meet us, we want to go until the end.”

“There’s not so much meaning behind setting goals now; we put a bigger priority on promoting longer and spending meaningful time with the fans,” Jihyo adds. “Of course, the company might have a goal. But personally, we think that having a happy time with fans is the goal right now.”

Despite the warm contentment felt inside With YOU-th, and within the TWICE members’ tight-knit cluster after nearly an hour of chatting, there’s one quick glimmer of hesitancy from Jihyo after a mention of their exciting chart prospects in their latest crossover push into America.

“You know how you mentioned, ‘Isn’t it time for America to focus on TWICE?’” the group leader says quietly but firmly, as their final word. “Please do focus on us.”

On Tuesday (Feb. 27), Fred announced a surprise performance at Sydney’s Opera House for that evening via his Instagram, and sold out it “emphatically,” say reps for TEG-affiliated Handsome Tours, with over 145,000 people queuing for less than 3,000 tickets. The one-off show at the Opera House’s Concert Hall set the record for the largest on-sale demand for the iconic venue — all within a 24-hour timeframe.

Off the back of that pop-up show, the full-scale tour announce which too has sold out. All dates will feature support from JOY (ANONYMOUS), who debuted new, unreleased music at Fred’s Sydney Opera House special.

Fred Again has a special — and deep — connection with Australian music fans.

He made his live debut here in January 2023, performing sets at Laneway Festival, selling-out headline shows, and unleashing surprise DJ pop-ups that reportedly sold-out in under 5 seconds, including a set at Sydney’s 5,500-capacity Hordern Pavilion. Last year, he was the most played artist on the triple j, the national youth-focused radio network.

LOCASH Launches Galaxy Label Group: Exclusive

Country music duo LOCASH has launched Galaxy Label Group in partnership with Studio2Bee Entertainment, founded by veteran Nashville music executives Skip Bishop and Butch Waugh.

BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville will distribute the label, Billboard can reveal.

LOCASH’s Preston Brust and Chris Lucas celebrated the newly-announced venture on Wednesday evening (Feb. 28) during an event in downtown Nashville, just as radio programmers descended on Music City for the annual Country Radio Seminar.

“We’re all blessed to be part of this music business and we have a chance to do what our passion is, and to have Skip and Butch back on the team with us, it’s great,” Lucas tells Billboard during a Zoom call with LOCASH and Bishop.

Trending on Billboard

In launching the label, LOCASH, who formed in 2008, draw on nearly two decades of experience as artists and writers. In 2016, they earned a top 5 Country Airplay hit with “I Love This Life,” and followed with the chart-topper “I Know Somebody,” top 20 song “Ring on Every Finger,” and in 2019, earned another top 5 Country Airplay hit with “One Big Country Song.”

“We’ve talked about doing a label for years,” Lucas says. “Some of the best success we’ve had was when were have been more hands-on with it.”

Bishop and Waugh had previously worked on the campaign for “I Love This Life,” and the full-fledged staff that Studio2Bee has with marketing and radio reps, “seemed like a perfect match,” Bishop explains.

A nod to the label’s name, Brust says the ideal artist roster will include genres beyond country, though they haven’t signed additional artists just yet. The hard lessons LOCASH has learned along the way as artists and songwriters influence the business model for the new label.

“The main thing that we’ve seen on some bigger labels is that sometimes some artists would be to the side because another artist was hot at that moment,” Brust says. “We’ve always talked about that and how it’s not fair, because there is so much talent in this city.”

Galaxy Label Group will also serve as home to LOCASH’s new music; BMG Nashville’s Wheelhouse imprint had previously released their albums. The duo has been in the studio working on their upcoming album, with their first single, “Hometown Home,” expected to release in the spring.

“This song just stepped into the roots of what Locash is about,” Lucas says. “It’s about hometown love and being the guy who says, ‘We could go anywhere in the world and start a new life together, but if you want to stay here in our hometown, that’s good with me too, because I just want to be with you.’ It’s one of those messages that is relatable and hits you in the heart.”

Beyond signing artists, Galaxy Label Group aims to aid songwriters. The duo says Galaxy Label Group will give songwriters a percentage of the master royalties (out of the label’s share) on every recording for the label, including Locash’s upcoming album. The commitment could mean a boost for songwriters, whose incomes have seen significant, negative impact in the steaming era. When physical albums sold regularly, songwriters would be paid on each album sold, earning a solid income regardless of whether their song was picked as a radio single. But with streams comprising the bulk of music consumption, songwriters are increasingly dependent on radio hits, losing out on the valuable income avenue physical records once provided.

The commitment follows in the footsteps of some smaller indie labels such as Facet Records and Good Boy Records, as well as individual artists such as Kip Moore, who in 2017 pledged an annual bonus for songwriters.

“We want to be fair,” Lucas says. “It’s one of those things where if we sit down and before the album comes out, we say, ‘This [percentage] seems fair.’ We could get down the road and if the single just goes into another realm, who knows? We could change a percentage at that point.”

Ultimately, Brust says, they hope to “create new revenue streams in this the industry.” He adds, “Nashville is built on the song. The best songwriters in the world—I would put us up against anyone. Nashville has it, period. There’s no one better than that. We want songwriters to have a fair chance. If someone’s getting 700 million streams and the songwriter’s barely seeing a dime, that’s not fair. We want to get a part of this ahead of the game and get a fair percentage for them. That’s what we’re most excited about right now—giving back to the community that has been there for us.”

“Comedian/Actor Richard Lewis passed away peacefully at his home in Los Angeles last night after suffering a heart attack,” his rep, Jeff Abraham, shared the news via a statement. “His wife, Joyce Lapinsky, thanks everyone for all the love, friendship and support and asks for privacy at this time.”

Lewis quickly became a fan favorite over 40 episodes of Curb Your Enthusiasm, including the 2000 pilot episode. In 2021, he announced that he would not return to the series in order to recover from three surgeries, though he ended up making a one-scene appearance in season 11. He ended up returning for the now-airing final season of the HBO program.

Following the devastating news, Lewis’ longtime friend and Curb co-star Larry David shared his own statement of mourning. “Richard and I were born three days apart in the same hospital and for most of my life he’s been like a brother to me,” he wrote in the statement shared by HBO. “He had that rare combination of being the funniest person and also the sweetest. But today he made me sob and for that I’ll never forgive him.”

Lewis’ Anything But Love co-star Jamie Lee Curtis also took to Instagram to share a lengthy, emotional tribute to her late friend. “He also is the reason I am sober. He helped me,” she wrote in part. “I am forever grateful for him for that act of grace alone. He found love with Joyce and that, of course, besides his sobriety, is what mattered most to him. I’m weeping as I write this. Strange way of saying thank you to a sweet and funny man.”

Many of Lewis’ famous friends and colleagues flooded social media with messages of love and memories of the comedian. See below.

For First Time Since 2021, Hip-Hop Has Nos. 1 & 2 Simultaneously on Billboard 200

For the first time in 122 weeks, hip-hop albums seize both the No. 1 and No. 2 spots on the Billboard 200 albums chart. On the list dated Feb. 24, Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign’s Vultures 1 reigns, while Yeat’s 2093 debuts at No. 2. The pair makes for the first time that hip-hop has twin titles atop the chart since Oct. 30, 2021, when Young Thug’s Punk and Drake’s Certified Lover Boy, nabbed the top two spots.

The PunkCertified Lover Boy moment was the ninth such double for hip-hop on the Billboard 200 in 2021, capping a year that saw additional chart-toppers from Moneybagg Yo, DJ Khaled, J. Cole, Lil Baby, Lil Durk, Tyler the Creator, and YoungBoy Never Broke Again. But, despite no one-two lockdown in 2022 or 2023, hip-hop still maintained top standing among listeners, with R&B/hip-hop as both years’ most-streamed genre by total album consumption, according to Luminate. (R&B/hip-hop is an umbrella genre for Luminate that contains most titles categorized as R&B and/or rap. Individual statistics for R&B or rap are not available for the purposes of such research.)

While hip-hop’s 122-week break between holding both the gold and silver medal is certainly rare for this era, it doesn’t quite touch the record gap of just under four years in the early 1990s. On the chart dated Jan. 19, 1991, Vanilla Ice’s To The Extreme and MC Hammer’s Please Hammer Don’t Hurt ‘Em ranked at Nos. 1 and 2, respectively, marking the 12th consecutive week that the blockbuster albums had locked up the top two spots. After those titans surrendered the summit, hip-hop needed until Nov. 5, 1994, to recapture the top pair, with the Murder Was the Case soundtrack (No. 1) and Scarface’s The Diary (No. 2) becoming the magic combination.

Trending on Billboard

As hip-hop scores its winning week, two different hip-hop No. 1 albums – Vultures 1 and 21 Savage’s American Dream – in the first two months of the year already prevents a repeat of a discussion point that piqued interest in 2023. Last year, the genre didn’t find a No. 1 album in the first half of the year – the longest wait of any calendar year since 1993. Largely due to the dominance of albums such as SZA’s R&B set SOS and Morgan Wallen’s country collection One Thing at a Time, hip-hop couldn’t capture the flag until July, when Lil Uzi Vert’s Pink Tape finally ended the shutout.

Jimmy Butler’s Emo Phase Continues in Fall Out Boy’s ‘So Much (For) Stardust’ Music Video

It was never a phase, mom! Especially for Jimmy Butler.

The NBA star appears in the new music video for Fall Out Boy’s “So Much (For) Stardust” released on Wednesday (Feb. 28), bringing back his viral “emo” hairstyle, featuring straightened locks in long bangs across his face, which he originally debuted last October for the Miami Heat’s media day.

In the clip, Butler rocks the exact same hairstyle, but this time paired with a sparkly purple cowboy outfit. He’s seen singing and dancing along to the lyrics in a Western-style venue, before FOB’s bassist Pete Wentz joins him dressed in a similar outfit, but in white.

Fall Out Boy’s eighth studio album So Much (For) Stardust arrived in March 2023, with the album topping Billboard’s Top Rock Albums chart. The project features a total of 13 tracks — including lead single “Love From the Other Side,” “Heartbreak Feels So Good,” a surprise Ethan Hawke collaboration titled “The Pink Seashell,” the album’s title track and more.

“‘Time is luck.’ Finish another tour. You reflect but not like a gem in the sun – more like a year long stare into yourself in another airplane bathroom,” the band — which consists of members Patrick Stump, Pete Wentz, Joe Trohman and Andy Hurley — wrote when announcing the album last year. “Sometimes you gotta blow everything you were and put the pieces back together in a new shape. The same but different – the foundation dynamited and the dust used to create the concrete pour. I have a tendency to get a little sad whenever I think about anything…but I also feel pure joy when I think that I exist at the same time as whales or that read happens to rise at a certain temperature. And that we happen to be spinning on this little blue rock at the exact same time together. So much (for) stardust.”

Mau y Ricky Talk Returning to Venezuela Ahead of ‘Hotel Caracas’ Release: ‘I Can’t Say Enough About the Love We Felt’

When Mau and Ricky Montaner returned to Venezuela last year after an almost-10-year absence, they both admit they were a little worried.

“Ricky and I were really anxious,” says Mau, before Ricky chimes in, “When we left [Venezuela], our cousins and our best friends stayed behind. They always told us, ‘Oh, you’re no longer Venezuelans. You’re gringos.’ And that was really our identity. So we felt a lot of those nerves. When they opened the doors to the plane and I stuck my head out, and I saw the girls who came with the wheelchairs get all excited, I thought, ‘OK. We’re good.’”

The three-month stay was an essential part of the adventure of creating Hotel Caracas, the brothers’ new album, scheduled for release in July. Two singles, “Pasado Mañana” and “Vas a Destrozarme” have already been released. Overall, the project will feature 16 songs, along with corresponding music videos and a documentary, as it highlights the brothers in a different musical light. This time around, they’re working with entirely acoustic arrangements, leaning more pop and using a lot of horns and brass, working with producer Malay Ho, known for his work with artists like Frank Ocean. The album was created as a tribute to the brothers’ native Venezuela. Going back, they say, was a “personal purpose.”

“We found ourselves in a country that, despite having a complicated situation, […] I can’t say enough about the love we felt from the people and the sense of belonging that one has in one’s land,” says Ricky.

“People talk a lot, but everything they say is about the negative,” adds Mau on the topic of Venezuela. “We want to help continue having the conversations that have been had, but also, we want people to remember how extraordinary the music of my country is, the cinema in my country and the culture in general. People are desperate for this to happen.”

Mau and Ricky Montaner have been musical adventurers for as long as they can remember. Born three years apart (Mau is 30, Ricky is 33), the brothers have been making music together since they were children and have experimented a lot along the way, trying out sounds ranging from urban pop songwriting to many cross-genre mashups of their songs – from reggaeton to tropical.

Dressed in their own version of gray suits (shorts instead of pants and Converse high tops), the brothers spoke with Billboard about Hotel Caracas, their trip to Venezuela and, of course, the series Los Montaner.

Chance stopped by Late Night With Seth Meyers on Tuesday (Feb. 27), where he gave an update on his musical pursuit of Peppa Pig, the children’s show character that his two daughters — seven-year-old Kensli and four-year-old Marli — are huge fans of.

“I have been trying to [reach out]. It’s just really difficult to get in touch with Peppa,” Chance said with a laugh, before Meyers offered that the lack of communication could be due to the time difference, as the animated pig is based out of the United Kingdom.

The rapper’s interest in collaborating with Peppa Pig began in May 2023, during another appearance on Late Night. “[My daughters] do like my music. They’re really, they’re more into, like, Peppa Pig and their contemporaries,” he said at the time. “But, like, I have a few songs that they’ll listen to.”

Then, out of his “own desperation,” Chance made a plea with Peppa. “If you’re listening right now, like, I’m trying to work or at least get some autographs for my kids,” he said to the camera. “Shoutout to Peppa Pig.”

Upon seeing the clip, Peppa’s official Twitter account wrote, “@chancetherapper tell your people to call mine #toddlermixtape,” to which Chance replied, “Huge fan, will reach out through the proper channels.”

Here’s to hoping a Chance x Peppa Pig team-up will come to fruition soon. Watch the full Late Night interview below.

In the tracking week of Feb. 16-22, “Whatever She Wants” registered 11.9 million official U.S. streams, according to Luminate. Thanks to the sum, the track opens at No. 5 on the Rap Streaming Songs chart and gives Tiller his first appearance there. On the all-genre Streaming Songs chart, the new release begins at No. 15.

Streams provide essentially all the song’s activity for the week on the multimetric Hot Rap Songs chart, with minimal digital download sales and 322,000 audience impressions for radio airplay contributions for the remaining two metrics.

Tiller’s new track makes its chart debut following its official release after a demo version was available for months on Soundcloud. The original “Whatever She Wants” appeared on Tiller’s Soundcloud-exclusive Slum Tiller 2 mixtape, which premiered Nov. 9, 2023. On his X (formerly known as Twitter) profile, Tiller wrote that, due to “popular demand,” the song received a wide release through RCA Records across digital and streaming platforms on Feb. 13.

Elsewhere, “Whatever She Wants” starts at No. 11 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and No. 32 on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100. On the former, the No. 11 entrance gives the rapper/singer the fourth-highest placement among his 25 visits. The new arrival trails only DJ Khaled’s 2017 seven-week No. 1 “Wild Thoughts,” on which he and Rihanna feature, and two 2016 hits: “Don’t,” which peaked at No. 4 and “Exchange,” which reached a No. 8 best.
