Beyoncé’s ‘Texas Hold ‘Em’ Locks-Down Midweek Chart Lead In U.K.

Beyoncé’s “Texas Hold ‘Em” is proving tough to shift in the U.K.

Based on sales and streaming data published by the Official Charts Company, Bey’s country-influenced hit is on track for a fourth-successive week at the top.

If it holds on, as expected, “Texas Hold ‘Em” (Columbia/Parkwood Ent) will be the Houston superstar singer’s longest-reigning single in the U.K., passing the three-week run at No. 1 for 2003’s “Crazy In Love.”

Ariana Grande appears set for a fifth U.K. No. 1 album with Eternal Sunshine (vis Republic Records), which leads the Official Albums Chart Update. Three tracks from the new LP are set to crack the U.K. top 20, led by “yes, and?” at No. 4; “we can’t be friends (wait for your love),” new at No. 6 on the chart blast; and “bye,” new at No. 13.

Those new entries should lift Grande’s career U.K. top 40 tally to 34.

Trending on Billboard

Grande’s seventh studio album, Eternal Sunshine enjoys a bump from her performance on Saturday Night Live and the release of a “Slightly Deluxe” version featuring four additional tracks, including her previously heard duet with idol Mariah Carey on “yes, and?”

Grande was also on hand at the Academy Awards on Sunday, March 10 to present Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell with the best original song Oscar for “What Was I Made For?” (Intercope) from the Barbie soundtrack. “What Was I Made For,” which the siblings performed at the Oscars, is set to a U.K. top 40 return. The melancholy single flies 98-26 on the Official Chart Update, as U.K. fans snap up copies of a limited 7” single.

Finally, Drake‘s rework of 4batz‘s breakout hit “act ii: date @ 8 (remix)” (4batz OVO sound) should make a top 40 splash. “Act ii” starts at No. 20 on the midweek chart, and could add to Drake’s ridiculous tally of U.K. top 40 appearances, which currently stands at 91.

All will be revealed when the Official U.K. Singles Chart is published Friday, March 15.

Ariana Grande Eyes U.K. No. 1 With ‘Eternal Sunshine’

Ariana Grande is fast out the blocks in the U.K., where Eternal Sunshine leads the chart race.

Based on midweek sales and streaming data captured by the Official Charts Company, Grande should snag her fifth U.K. chart title with Eternal Sunshine (via Republic Records).

The U.S. pop star previously led the weekly survey with 2016’s Dangerous Woman, 2018’s Sweetener, 2019’s thank u, next and 2020’s Positions.

Grande’s seventh studio LP, Eternal Sunshine is also set to place three songs inside the top 20 of the Official Singles Chart, including lead single “yes, and?”, “we can’t be friends (wait for your love)” and “bye” (according to U.K. chart criteria, no more than three songs from one artist album can impact the national singles chart).

Meanwhile, British heavy metal veterans Judas Priest could bag a career best with their 19th and latest studio album, Invincible Shield (Columbia). Led by Rob Halford, Judas Priest’s career best is a No. 4 peak with 1980’s British Steel.

Trending on Billboard

Completing an all-new top three on the chart blast is Bleachers’ eponymously-titled fourth studio LP (via Dirty Hit). It’s new at No. 3 on the chart blast, and likely to set a new career peak position for Jack Antonoff’s U.S. pop-rock outfit.

‘80s girl group Bananarama could snag a first top 10 appearance in 36 years with hits retrospective Glorious – The Ultimate Collection (London Music Stream). It’s new at No. 6 on the Official Chart Update. Previously, the “Cruel Summer” singers enjoyed top tier spots with 1983 debut Deep Sea Skiving (at No. 8) and 1988’s The Greatest Hits Collection (No. 3).

Another all-female British pop outfit is eyeing a top 10 return — Girls Aloud. Following the release of a 20th anniversary reissue, including three previously-unheard tracks featuring vocals from late band member Sarah Harding, Girls Aloud’s sophomore album from 2004 record What Will The Neighbours Say? (Polydor/UMR) is tracking for No. 10.

Finally, new releases from Grace Petrie (Build Something Better at No. 17 via Robots Need Home), Norah Jones (Visions at No. 35 via EMI) and former Sonic Youth star Kim Gordon (The Collective at No. 37 via Matador) are on target for top 40 berths.

All will be revealed when the Official U.K. Albums Chart is published late Friday, March 15.

Eric Carmen, Hitmaker Behind ‘Hungry Eyes,’ ‘All by Myself’ & More, Dies at 74

Eric Carmen, the hitmaker behind ’70s and ’80s smashes like “All By Myself” and “Hungry Eyes,” has died at age 74, his wife Amy confirms.

“It is with tremendous sadness that we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of Eric Carmen,” a message posted to his website, Facebook and X account reads. “It brought him great joy to know, that for decades, his music touched so many and will be his lasting legacy. ‘Love Is All That Matters…Faithful and Forever,’” the message concludes, signed by Amy Carmen, his wife of eight years.

Over his decades-long career — starting in earnest during his college years at John Carroll University in his home state of Ohio, when he joined a band called Cyrus Erie — Carmen scored three top five hits on the Billboard Hot 100: the No. 2-peaking “All By Myself” in 1976, followed by the Dirty Dancing soundtrack standout “Hungry Eyes,” which peaked at No. 4 in 1988, and “Make Me Lose Control,” a No. 3 hit, also in 1988. His highest-charting album was his self-titled solo debut, which peaked at No. 21 in 1976.

In addition to scoring a hit on the Dirty Dancing soundtrack, Carmen also co-wrote “Almost Paradise… Love Theme from Footloose” (performed by Mike Reno and Ann Wilson) for the Footloose soundtrack, earning him his lone Grammy nomination for best album of original score written for a motion picture or a television special.

Trending on Billboard

Before his blockbuster solo career, he recorded four albums with The Raspberries from 1972 to 1974. They scored a No. 5 hit from their debut album called “Go All the Way” in 1972 and a top 20 hit with the ironically titled “Overnight Sensation (Hit Record),” which peaked at No. 18 in 1974.

Many of Carmen’s songs have endured thanks to new placements in pop culture, including Celine Dion’s Hot 100 No. 4-peaking cover of “All By Myself” in 1997; “Go All the Way” being featured on the Guardians of Galaxy: Awesome Mix Vol. 1 soundtrack in 2014; and his co-written “Almost Paradise” serving as the theme song to The Bachelor spin-off Bachelor in Paradise in 2014.

Kanye West’s daughter, North West, is letting it be known that the apple hasn’t fallen far from the tree and that she, too, is all about the music. During a listening event in Phoenix on Sunday for Ye and Ty Dolla $ign’s new album Vultures 2, the 10-year-old announced she’s dropping an album of her own, and its title commemorates her father’s debut LP.

“I’ve been working on an album and it is called Elementary School Dropout,” North told the audience, which responded with a massive roar of applause.

It was just over 20 years ago that Ye blessed the Hip Hop world with his debut album College Dropout. Now, North is honoring the rap megastar by making his first album the inspiration for her own after she appeared to launch her music career on Vultures 1.

From Hip Hop DX:

The reveal comes shortly after North made her music debut on her father and Ty Dolla $ign’s collaborative project Vultures 1, featuring prominently on “Talking.”

The track peaked at No. 30 on the Billboard Hot 100, making her one of the youngest ever artists to appear on the chart.

On the song, North raps: “I love it here/ We’re gonna take over another year/ It’s your bestie, Miss, Miss Westie/ Don’t try to test me/ It’s gonna get messy/ Just, just bless me, bless me/ It’s your bestie, Miss, Miss Westie.”

Along with North, Ye and Kim Kardashian’s two youngest children, Psalm and Chicago, were also in attendance at the listening party, which means they got to watch their older sister perform “Talking” on stage with their father.

So, are y’all excited about North West’s upcoming debut album Elementary School Dropout? What do you think the pre-teen’s future as a recording artist is going to look like? Let us know in the comments below.

Cardi B Unveils Cover Art for New Single ‘Enough (Miami)’

Cardi B has had enough!

The rap superstar took to Instagram on Monday (March 11) to share the sultry cover art for her upcoming single, “Enough (Miami),” set for release on Friday (March 15). In the photo, a nude Cardi lays across a white sofa with her hair in long waves down her shoulders, rocking a glass skin look with her makeup. See the photo here.

Last week, Cardi teased the single over on TikTok. “Me vs. you and you know who they pickin’,” she raps on the track. “I can survive in the coldest conditions… B–ches is washed, soapin’ the dishes/ I apply pressure like boa constrictors/ One b–ch, two b–ch, old b–ch, new b–ch, none of y’all not gonna do s–t/ I’m in Miami I pull up on cruise ships.”

The song is a follow-up to Cardi’s recently released single, “Like What (Freestyle).” The song is Cardi’s first solo record since 2021’s “Up,” which earned the rapper her first Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hit and a 2022 Grammy nomination for best rap performance. Since then she’s dropped “Tomorrow 2” with GloRilla, “Jealously” with Offset and the Megan Thee Stallion collab “Bongos.”

A new album from the rapper would mark her first since 2018’s Invasion of Privacy. The album spawned two No. 1 Billboard Hot 100 singles, the diamond-certified “Bodak Yellow” and “I Like It.” She also won the Grammy for best rap album for Invasion of Privacy, topping Pusha T, Mac Miller, Travis Scott and Nipsey Hussle.

Stray Kids’ K-Wave Coca-Cola Campaign Marks First Big 2024 Project for Their ‘Year of Giving’

It’s the evening at the end of a typically packed week for Stray Kids, but the four-time Billboard 200 chart-toppers are unquestionably buzzing to discuss one of their big first projects in 2024, which they’ve deemed “the year of giving.”

In the seven days ahead of this interview, Stray Kids members Felix, Seungmin and I.N. all attended different Paris Fashion Week shows — with Felix making his runway debut walking for Louis Vuitton in the luxury brand’s ready-to-wear 2024/2025 collection presentation — Han dropped a new song “13” via the group’s YouTube channel, Bang Chan also revealed his English song “Eternity” and its accompanying video on YouTube as Nylon Japan premiered a striking fashion film tied to his new magazine cover, and the entire group continued preparations for their upcoming fan-meeting concert “SKZ’S MAGIC SCHOOL” taking place at the end of March. Even when Bang Chan notes that “the Kids sometimes can be shy” in having all eight members discuss their latest endeavors, what comes through in both their full-group cheering responses is the vibrant assurance that SKZ are aiming to deliver something to touch both their beloved STAY fandom and global audiences at large.

Alongside three fellow superstar acts under their JYP Entertainment label, Stray Kids teamed up with Coca-Cola in late February for its new Coca-Cola K-Wave Zero Sugar drop that not only introduces a new “Fruity Fantasy” flavor but looks to honor the international K-pop fandom. The guys join ITZYNMIXX, plus JYP Entertainment founder J.Y. Park for the Coca-Cola Creations joint single “Like Magic.” which was produced by Park, has Bang Chan credited as a vocal arranger, and Changbin as co-writer.

In addition to the new flavor and music video, the collab is delivering limited-edition apparel and accessories including a special lightstick, digital photo cards, a mobile “fan music video AI experience” via the Coca-Cola Creations microsite, all capped off with the K-Wave Concert for Inkigayo, scheduled for June 2 that promises to host JYP talent and other top K-pop names including Stray Kids, ITZY, NMIXX and more.

“The experience starts with an amazing Coca-Cola Zero Sugar taste accompanied by a dash of fruity K-pop magic,” adds Oana Vlad, the senior director of Global Strategy at the Coca-Cola Company. “We are excited to celebrate one of the most passionate fan communities in the world and create new experiences that we hope will bring Coca-Cola magic to fans across the globe.”

Looking ahead to the K-Wave Concert and the year that the group already confirmed will include — and you might need to a breath to take it all in — a fan-meeting concert, third world tour, an album, a “special” album, pop-up stores and loads more digital content, Bang Chan, Lee Know, Changbin, Han, Hyunjin, Felix, Seungmin and I.N. gave Billboard some additional insight into their first major 2024 project and what else is coming.

Congratulations on launching this new campaign for the Coca-Cola K-Wave Zero Sugar. I think the first order of business is to know if you’ve tried it and what you think of this new flavor?

All: Yeah, tastes good!!!

Hyunjin: It’s really very nice. The taste was refreshing, a little like bubblegum, and a somewhat cloudy or misty feeling.

Seungmin: One of the best Cokes in the world.

You and several of your JYP Entertainment artists participated in this campaign that honors K-pop fandom. What’s your overall take on it?

Bang Chan: You know how you just mentioned how this campaign “honors K-pop fandom,” right? But it’s really an honor for us to be able to be in the campaign that honors K-pop fandom, you know what I mean? I feel like it’s just really a good opportunity for not only us, but the other artists in JYP to really spread out the word about K-pop and, that itself is just something that we are very honored to do. And hopefully, people out there can really look forward to the K-pop wave.

Changbin: I usually drink one or two Cokes a day—two Zero Cokes a day, that is! I’m so happy to be able to host this campaign with the actual drink and our JYP family; I think it’s very meaningful. I believe that Zero Coke can unite us all—K-pop fans, JYP family, and Stray Kids. I’m looking forward to continuing that love.

You all participated in the song and video for “Like Magic” alongside J.Y. Park, ITZY, and NMIXX. Changbin wrote alongside JYP, and Bang Chan is a vocal arranger. What was the process of working together?

Bang Chan: Vocal arranging is something that I’ve always done, especially with our own music and everything. But JYP himself was like, “Oh, Chan, you can just direct by yourself; you know the members better than I do, so just get all the vocals done.” And then with like the tuning, editing, the arranging — I figured that out myself as well, and it was a pretty cool experience because usually, we work on music on our own, but to do it for someone else like JYP, it was a great honor, and it was overall very, very fun.

Changbin: When I first heard the song, it was quite new and had kind of a fun feeling to me. So, I was really contemplating and thinking a lot about how to reflect and meld my rap style on it. I’m really happy that the results seemed really fine and Mr. JYP also said he’s happy with that. Also, getting to work with him after a long time, I was really thrilled because it’s been a while since I worked with him as the producer.

Moving from the production, how was it to collaborate on a song with so many of your fellow JYP artists?

Bang Chan: Our company is very much a “family-ship,” you know what I mean? We all looked out for each other, and having a chance to work on something together was really, really fun. I mean, we didn’t actually get to see each other at the music video set and everything — because everyone’s schedules are very, very busy and different — but it kind of felt like as if we were doing like JYP Nation [the name for company-wide JYP Entertainment songs or concerts].

Some of the members spent time as kids in different countries. Are there any special Coke flavors you remember loving as kids?

Felix: When I was younger, I remember drinking a lot of Vanilla…

All: Wow!!!

Felix: I remember I was at a party one time, there was a whole crate of Vanilla Coke and I was drinking, like, six at a time. I think that’s my biggest memory and that was with Vanilla Coca-Cola.

Coca-Cola also announced a K-Wave Concert for Inkigayo scheduled for June 2, where you will perform. Is there a chance fans can look forward to new Stray Kids music by then?

Bang Chan: It’s only March and we have so much to do for this year. Look, Jeff, I’m not going to spoil too much, but we have a lot prepared. I’m pretty sure you’re going to be surprised, but I can say we have many things prepared — very different from what we’ve done so far. So, hopefully, people out there can really, I guess, take it all in with our stuff that we’re going to come out with and everything goes well. Hopefully, STAYs really enjoy what we are going to bring out and 2024 can be another great year for Stray Kids.

To expand slightly, the “2024 STEP OUT” video teased a lot. Is there anything else you can share?

Bang Chan: We’ll let your imagination get you there. [Laughs]

Fair enough. What else do we need to know as you begin 2024 with this first big collaboration?

Bang Chan: We’re always processing everything, but we’re just really confident and feel really great that we have STAYs out there because it’s all because of them that we’re getting all these great results. It’s a gift from STAY, and we just want to create more gifts for STAYs out there — 2024 is “the year of giving.” Hopefully, us Stray Kids can give more to not only STAYs, but to everyone out there. So, thank you Billboard for everything, and thanks to Coca-Cola for giving us this great experience and opportunity to work on a very great campaign.

Felix: And we look forward to the future! Today was very fun having to answer a lot of good questions and talk about the Coca-Cola campaign; it was great to get in-depth with it. We just hope that our messages can very clearly spread to the world and show a lot of positivity. We hope that [everyone] can enjoy this year’s Coca-Cola K-Wave edition — just can’t wait.

Jessika Laudermilk Talks Rising Star Honoree Victoria Monét, Empowering Women & More | Billboard Women in Music 2024

Billboard host Lyndsey Havens caught up with Honda’s AVP of Marketing, Jessika Laudermilk, on the 2024 Women in Music Awards’ red carpet. During the evening’s programming, Honda proudly presented the Rising Star Award for the fifth consecutive year, honoring Victoria Monét. In an exclusive interview, Laudermilk articulated Honda’s deep-seated belief in nurturing aspiring artists, emphasizing the brand’s unwavering dedication to fueling dreams within the music industry. Through partnerships with Billboard and initiatives like Honda Stage, Honda empowers emerging artists, providing them with a platform to amplify their voices and connect with audiences worldwide. As Laudermilk embodies female empowerment within the automotive industry, her advice resonates as a beacon of inspiration for women everywhere: stay true to oneself, persevere, and break through barriers. With her daughters by her side at the event, Laudermilk epitomized the spirit of the celebration, where dreams take center stage and the future of music shines brightly.

Take a look at the conversation below:

Host: We’re so happy to have you here. So Honda is presenting the Rising Star award to Victoria Monét this year. Tell me a little bit about why it’s so important to be a part of presenting that award.

Jessika Laudermilk: Well, Honda is so excited to be here tonight at the Billboard Women in Music Awards to celebrate women as they pursue their dreams within the music industry. And  for five years now, Honda has had the honor to recognize rising up-and-coming women artists in the industry and really help fuel the ambitions of these young artists as they pursue their dreams. And it’s a great connection to Honda, as one of our biggest philosophies is the power of dreams. And so, it’s been inspirational to watch all of these past rising star winners as they continue to pursue their dreams within the industry, going back to Rosalia, to Gabby Barrett a few years ago, to last year’s winner with Doechii. So, this year’s winner of the Rising Star award really is a perfect embodiment of female empowerment: Victoria Monét and we are so excited for her to win this award tonight as she is a perfect example of a woman breaking down barriers and pursuing her dreams. And it’s also inspirational just to continue to see, and we hope that this award is one that young artists will be inspired to win and also an inspiration for young women who will be watching this award show tonight.

Host: How else does Honda empower women, especially young women, throughout their career, whether they’re in entertainment or something?

Jessika Laundermilk:Honda has had a long history over two decades of supporting women and music platforms within our brand. And whether it is through Honda Stage, we’re here tonight as a partner with Billboard to help bring the Billboard Women in Music to all of you, and we’ve also partnered with Billboard to support our Honda Stage initiative. And just this year alone, we have four different female artists through the Honda Stage, where it’s a really unique platform where we can bring unique content to their fans, but also giving these up-and-coming artists a new platform to be able to reach new audiences and help them break through to the music industry. We also have other events and programming that we work with called Dreamlab, where we work with different female artists and also through the Honda Civic tour. So, we have a lot of investments with music as it really is a great correlation to our brand and our message as we see these young artists trying to pursue their dreams.

Host: As a woman yourself working in the automotive industry, what advice or wisdom would you have for other women?

Jessika Laudermilk:It has been a great ride being a female in a very male dominated industry, as music is, too. And I love to be that example for my daughters who I brought here tonight, and other women throughout the company. And I would say, as advice, always stay true to who you are and to never give up on that and to always try to break through to what the next step is.

While British Vogue did not share photos of Swift and Kelce, the duo were mentioned in the caption as some of the star-studded attendees. See the post here.

Fan videos also captured Kelce passionately dancing to the pop star’s Reputation lead single, “Look What You Made Me Do,” rocking from side to side while singing along to the lyrics. And yes, he did snag one of Swift’s signature light-up bracelets, matching the rest of the crowd.
