Offset Celebrates Baltimore H.S. Students For Great Attendance With Gift Cards, $30K of Groceries

Offset celebrated a group of Baltimore high school students with exemplary attendance this week when he dropped by Paul Laurence Dunbar High School to hand out some special gifts. The moment was captured in a Facebook post from the Baltimore Police Department with pics of the Migos rapper walking the halls of the school and posing the students.

“The BPD, along with DTLR and @thelachow, had a wonderful time surprising the students at Paul Laurence Dunbar High School (Baltimore, Maryland) who showed great attendance and academic success this school year! They even got to meet Rapper Offset and received gift cards. Great job, students!,” read the post.

According to CBS News, in coordination with the DTLR and LA Chow, ‘Set gave the students and their families $30,000 worth of groceries and gift cards during the meet-and-greet before his solo gig at the Fillmore in Silver Spring. While hanging with the teens, the rapper also shouted out senior Caden Bowie, who was accepted to more than 40 colleges.

Offset is currently on his first solo tour, which launched last weekend in Philadelphia in support of his 2023 Set It Off album. The tour will touch down in Boston at the House of Blues on Friday night (March 15) and will keep the rapper on the road through mid-July, with gigs in Toronto, Detroit, Cincinnati, Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Phoenix, Dallas, Houston and his hometown of Atlanta before hopping overseas for a July 15 gig in Paris at the Salle Pleyel and London on July 17 at the Forum Kentish Town.

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds Set ‘Wild God’ Tour of U.K. and Europe

Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds will wield their dark art in arenas across the U.K. and Europe later this year in support of Wild God, the band’s 18th studio album.

The alternative rock outfit will kick-off their months-long Continental European jaunt Sept. 24 at Rudolf Weber-Arena in Oberhausen, Germany, with a string of U.K. dates set for November. As it stands, the action will wrap up Nov. 17 at Accor Arena in Paris, France.

Cave and Co. will use a previously-announced tour of Australia this April and May as a launch-pad for the northern run.

“I never think about how a record is going to go live, it never, ever occurs to me,” explains Cave in a statement. “The lyric writing process is way too hard to take ideas like that into consideration. But, when I listen to Wild God now, I think we can really do something epic with these songs live. We’re really excited about that – the record just feels like it was made for the stage.”

Wild God will drop Aug. 30 through Cave’s own label Bad Seed, via a new, exclusive worldwide licensing agreement with Play It Again Sam, an imprint of the independent [PIAS] label group.

Earlier, the ARIA Hall of Fame-inducted bandleader said of Wild God, “there’s no f—ing around with this record. When it hits, it hits. It lifts you. It moves you. I love that about it.”

Led by Cave, the current Bad Seeds lineup consists of Thomas Wydler, Martyn Casey, Jim Sclavunos, George Vjestica and longtime collaborator Warren Ellis, who produces the forthcoming album with Cave.

Wild God stretches across 10 tracks and was cut at Miraval Studios in Provence, France and Soundtree Studios in London, England, featuring contributions from Radiohead’s Colin Greenwood (bass) and Luis Almau (nylon string guitar, acoustic guitar).

It’s the followup to Ghosteen, the critically-lauded two-disc longplay from 2019, which explored Cave’s exposure to grief and pain, following the sudden death of his son Arthur in 2015.

Ariana Grande Shines at No. 1 In Australia With ‘Eternal Sunshine’

Ariana Grande’s Eternal Sunshine (Universal) enjoys the brightest possible start in Australia, where it debuts at No. 1, for her fifth leader.

All seven of the U.S. pop star’s album have landed in the ARIA top 10, including No. 1s for My Everything (in 2014), Dangerous Woman (2016), Sweetener (2018) and Thank U, Next (2019).

Eternal Sunshine also shines bright on the ARIA Singles Chart, yielding a string of new entries including “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait For Your Love),” opening at No. 2 for the week’s top debut and her 20th top 10 appearance in these parts; “Bye” (No. 19); the title track (No. 22); “Supernatural” (No. 18); “True Story” (No. 39) and “Wish I Hated You” (No. 46), while her former No. 2 hit “Yes, And?” rockets 34-11.

With her No. 1 start, Grande ends Taylor Swift’s weeks-long lockup of the top 5. Still, Swift dominates the pointy end of the albums chart, published Friday, March 15, with five of the top 10, led by 1989 (Taylor’s Version) (via Universal), holding at No. 2.

Meanwhile, Australian singer and TV presenter Ricki-Lee bows at No. 3 with On My Own (AWAL), her fifth studio album and first in 10 years. That’s a new career peak for Ricki-Lee, whose albums have all impacted the ARIA top 40, with Fear & Freedom (from 2012) her previous best at No. 7. Ricki-Lee is host of Australia Idol, the long-running reality TV series on which she got her break as a contestant 20 years ago.

Controversial Australian rock act Sticky Fingers enjoy a new peak position for Caress Your Soul (Sureshaker/MGM), which reenters the chart at No. 11 following the release of a 10th anniversary edition. The album previously peaked at No. 39 back in 2013.

Legendary British heavy metal band Judas Priest bows at No. 16 with Invincible Shield (Columbia/Sony), their 19th studio album. Judas Priest has never cracked the top 10 on the ARIA Chart. The closest they got was with Firepower, which blasted to No. 12 in 2018.

Over on the ARIA Singles Chart, American viral star Benson Boone holds at No. 1 for a second week with “Beautiful Things” (Warner), ahead of Grande’s “We Can’t Be Friends” and Djo‘s “End of Beginning” (AWAL), respectively. “End of Beginning” lifts 5-3, a new peak position for Djo, the music project of Stranger Things star Joseph Keery.

PartyNextDoor Reveals ‘P4’ Release Date During His Billboard SXSW Headlining Set

PartyNextDoor’s anticipated performance at the Moody Amphitheater at Waterloo Park on Thursday, March 14 was the perfect kick-off to Billboard’s annual THE STAGE at SXSW concert series.

During Party’s one-hour set, he not only delivered hits including “Break from Toronto” and “Come and See Me” (feat. Drake), but elevated them to new heights with a show stopping crew of dancers and lively three-piece band. But naturally, he ended on the ultimate high: a surprise announcement about his long-awaited fourth studio album, PartyNextDoor4 (P4).

As he told Billboard in his current cover story: “This is the hardest I’ve ever worked on an album. This is the proudest I’ve felt…I’m excited to grind even more for the next [one]. I’m in love with how hard you should work for it.” To coincide with the big reveal — which turned out to be the album’s release date of April 26 — Party also dropped his new single “Real Woman.”

Over the years, Party has established himself as a go-to hitmaker for artists including Ye, Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Post Malone and Rihanna (he’s scored two Hot 100 top 10 hits with the lattermost, including “Work” and “Wild Thoughts”).

THE STAGE takes place from March 14-16 as part of SXSW, Austin’s annual music, film and tech festival, and features performances from Billboard’s latest cover stars: Party, Christian Nodal, and Illenium. Tickets can be purchased here.

SEVENTEEN to Make U.K. History as First K-pop Act to Perform at Glastonbury Festival

SEVENTEEN is set to break ground this summer in the U.K., where they’ll become the first K-pop act to perform on Glastonbury Festival’s main stage.

The group is booked for Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage, joining a stacked bill that’s headlined by Dua Lipa, Coldplay, SZA and Shania Twain.

The five-day festival is set to take place June 26-30, 2024 at the Eavis’ Worthy Farm in Pilton, south-west England.

Also making their Glasto debuts are Avril Lavigne, Cyndi Lauper and Camila Cabello, while stars of rock, pop, hip-hop and electronic take their places in the lineup, from Idles to Burna Boy, Little Simz, The Last Dinner Party, LCD Soundsystem, PJ Harvey, Janella Monae and more.

The grandaddy of U.K. music festivals, Glastonbury, staged on Michael Eavis’ milk farm, will welcome more than 210,000 party-goers this summer, a mass of humanity that’s greater than the population of Norwich or Oxford. Tickets sold out before the lineup was announced Thursday.

Girl group Blackpink smashed through the barricades when, in 2023, they became the first ever K-pop band to headline a U.K. festival, performing for 65,000 spectators at London’s BST Hyde Park.

CARATs will also get a chance to see SEVENTEEN on Continental European soil, when the pop group headlines Lollapalooza Berlin later this summer– also a first for a K-pop act.

Set for Sept. 7-8 at Olympiastadion and Olympiapark in the German capital, Lollapalooza Berlin’s bill also features Sam Smith, Martin Garrix, Burna Boy, The Chainsmokers, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Shirin David and CRO.

The performances are pay-back, of sorts. SEVENTEEN slated to visit Europe during their ODE TO YOU WORLD TOUR in 2020, but those shows were scrapped due to the pandemic.

SEVENTEEN is coming off a banner year, during which the group shifted 16 million combined album units worldwide, including their 10th mini album FML (April 2023) and follow up SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN (October 2023).

FML topped the IFPI’s Global Albums Chart, with 6.2 million combined copies worldwide, based on streams, downloads and physical sales during the calendar year 2023. The collection was the most pre-ordered LP in K-pop history, landing at No. 1 in South Korea and Japan, and debuting at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and helping SEVENTEEN to No. 2 on the federation’s Global Artist Chart, behind Taylor Swift, confirming the 13-piece act as the most popular band on the planet last year.

PartyNextDoor Releases ‘Real Woman’ Single: Stream It Now

PartyNextDoor released his new single “Real Woman” Friday (March 15) after finishing his headlining set at Billboard’s THE STAGE at SXSW in Austin, Texas.

And while closing out his set, Billboard‘s latest cover star revealed the news all of his fans have been waiting for: His forthcoming fourth studio album, PARTYNEXTDOOR 4, will be released on April 26 via OVO Sound. It marks his first full-length album in four years since Partymobile, which debuted at No. 8 on the Billboard 200 and peaked at No. 4 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums.

The album also arrives 10 years after his debut album, PARTYNEXTDOOR 2. Its second single “Her Way” experienced a lot of success last year: The sped-up version of the song became 2023’s most popular TikTok song in Canada and third-most popular in the United States.

Produced by Noah “40” Shebib, Eli Brown and Prep Bijan, “Real Woman” employs bright, twinkling synths, trap hi-hats and a backing choir for the hypnotic late-night anthem. The single follows “Resentment,” which debuted in the top 10 of Hot R&B Songs last July, and “Her Old Friends” from January 2023.

The R&B singer-songwriter and producer talked about his highly anticipated LP in his recent Billboard cover story. “This is the hardest I’ve ever worked on an album. This is the proudest I’ve felt,” he said. “I’m excited to grind even more for the next [one]. I’m in love with how hard you should work for it.”

Following his SXSW set, Party will perform at Rolling Loud California tonight before traveling to Australia next week for the five-date Souled Out festival.

BTS’ V Unveils New Solo Single ‘FRI(END)S’: Stream It Now

BTS‘ V has officially shared his first project post-military enlistment — a new solo single titled “FRI(END)S.”

Released Friday (March 15), the R&B-infused track was written entirely in English. It follows V’s September 2023 EP Layover, which the K-pop star dropped just a couple months before beginning his mandatory service in the South Korean military alongside bandmates RM, Jimin, Jung Kook, Jin, J-Hope and Suga, who have also enlisted.

V previously confirmed that he had banked a few projects to release during his time away, writing in a December statement that he’d “prepared a lot of things” for the 18-month period. “I will miss you so much,” he penned at the time, as translated to English. “Actually, I’m really sad that I can’t make happy memories with my ARMY for the time being […] it’s the hardest not to see the ARMY.”

He added, “I’ll be back!”

The boy bander first announced “FRI(END)S” on social media March 3, going on to share a number of concept photos and teaser videos ahead of the single. “The track, rooted in the pop soul R&B genre, delivers relatable and witty romance through lyrics,” read a statement from Big Hit Music at the time.

“The single artwork accompanying the announcement reveals the song title and release date against a vivid pink background that hints at the song’s sweet mood,” it continued.

As a soloist, V has notched three songs on the Billboard Hot 100. He reached his highest peak to date in 2023 with “Slow Dancing,” which debuted at No. 51 on the chart.

Cardi B Has Had ‘Enough’ on Fiery New Single: Stream It Now

Enough is enough — at least according to Cardi B. With the release of her brash new single “Enough (Miami)” on Friday (March 15), the Bronx rapper is getting a few things off of her chest.

“B—s is washed, soap on the dishes/ I apply pressure like boa constrictors/ One b—h, two b—h, old b—h, new b—h/ None of y’all b—s not gon’ do s—t,” she spits in the first verse of the confrontational OG Parker and Romano-produced track. If her Missy Elliott-nodding “Like What (Freestyle)” was a warning shot, “Enough” finds Cardi taking direct aim at her biggest opps.

Cardi first teased “Enough” through a video posted to her official TikTok page on March 7. Going for a stripped-down vibe with minimal makeup and a white tank top and sweats, Cardi rapped and danced along to the snippet in the clip. She also posted the clip on her official Instagram page with the same “15” caption, not so subtly alluding to the song’s March 15 release date.

The new single arrives amid a flurry of new Cardi B music. In addition to “Like What” — which debuted at No. 38 on the Billboard Hot 100 and atop Rap Digital Song Sales (both charts dated March 16) — Cardi is also set to appear on “Puntería,” the opening track from Shakira‘s forthcoming Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran LP (March 22). Last year, she appeared on several Hot 100 hits, including Latto‘s “Put It on Da Floor Again” (No. 13), Offset‘s “Jealousy” (No. 55) and FendiDa Rappa‘s “Point Me 2” (No. 82) and “Bongos” (No. 14, with Megan Thee Stallion).

On the Hot 100, Cardi B has earned five No. 1 singles, including “Bodak Yellow,” “Up,” and the Megan Thee Stallion-assisted “WAP.” Invasion of Privacy, her debut studio album, debuted and peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, and has since spent more than 220 weeks on the ranking.

Kacey Musgraves’ ‘Deeper Well’ Arrives: Stream It Now

Kacey Musgraves‘ fifth studio album, Deeper Well, has arrived.

The singer-songwriter first teased the news of the album in early February, with a series of photos and a social media post which read, “I’m saying goodbye to the people that I feel are real good at wasting my time…No regrets, baby, I just think that maybe you go your way and I’ll go mine.” Those words, of course, are lyrics to Deeper Well‘s title track; Musgraves co-wrote the song with longtime collaborators Daniel Tashian and Ian Fitchuk. Musgraves followed by releasing another song from the album, “Too Good to Be True.”

Musgraves told Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1 about the new album, saying, “I’ve found more of a connection to my softer side, my roots, like some of the Americana, the folk, the country…really the warmth of that. I felt drawn to that. I felt like I was in a softer place myself after [Musgraves’ 2021 album] star-crossed and going through a divorce and doing a lot of therapy and honestly falling in love again and opening myself back up to the human experience. These songs just kind of started coming out.”

On her new project, Musgraves drew inspiration from the energy and artistic legacy of New York City’s Greenwich Village. She also recorded the album at the iconic Electric Lady studios.

“Sometimes you reach a crossroads. Winds change direction,” Musgraves previously said in a statement. “What you once felt drawn to doesn’t hold the same allure, you get blown off course but eventually find your footing and forage for new inspiration, new insight and deeper love somewhere else.”  

The 14-track album was announced after Musgraves picked up her seventh Grammy honor, for best country duo/group performance for her Zach Bryan collaboration “I Remember Everything.” That Grammy victory made Musgraves the first artist to win in all four country field categories, having previously won best country solo performance in 2019 (“Space Cowboy”), as well as best country album and best country song in both 2014 (Same Trailer, Different Park and “Merry Go ‘Round”) and 2019 (Golden Hour and “Space Cowboy”).

“I Remember Everything” became Musgraves’ first Hot 100 chart-topper, and spent 20 weeks at No. 1 on the Hot Country Songs chart; she has also earned four top 10 albums on the Billboard 200 to date, among them star-crossed and Golden Hour.

Justin Timberlake is back, as the superstar unveiled his sixth studio album, Everything I Thought It Was, on Friday (March 15). The project is his first full-length album since 2018’s Man of the Woods.

The album features previously released singles “Drown” and “Selfish,” which debuted at No. 19 on the Billboard Hot 100, earning Timberlake his highest debut in six years on the tally. The lead single from Everything I Thought It Was also marked Timberlake’s 29th top 40 hit as a soloist.

Notably, EITIW also includes a long-awaited reunion from *NSYNC, called “Paradise,” and the full band performed the track onstage at Timberlake’s one-night-only concert at The Wiltern in Los Angeles on Wednesday night (March 13).

Timberlake had already hinted at more *NSYNC music last month, following the release of “Better Place” for the Trolls Band Together soundtrack in September. During an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, the star strongly hinted that he and bandmates JC Chasez, Lance Bass, Joey Fatone and Kirkpatrick are cooking up a follow-up to their comeback single. “That was fun,” he began, recalling how the guys reunited for “Better Place.” “It’s kind of crazy — there’s so much that picks up right where it left off as far as chemistry.” 

In support of his new LP, Timberlake is set to embark on a headlining North American arena tour. The tour will kick off April 29 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, B.C., and visit major cities such as Las Vegas (May 10-11), New York (Jun. 25-26) and Atlanta (Nov. 16), before concluding Nov. 20 at KFC Yum Center in Louisville, Ky.
