Sabrina Carpenter’s ‘Espresso’ Serves up Midweek U.K. Chart Lead

Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso” is piping hot in the U.K., where it leads the chart race for the first time.

The American singer and actor has a bonafide hit on her hands with “Espresso” (Island), which debuted at No. 6 on the national chart, following its release April 11, and has continued to climb ever since.

“Espresso” is her first top 10 and fourth top 40 appearance on the U.K. chart, following “Feather” (No. 19 peak), “Skin” (No. 28) and “Nonsense” (No. 32).

Carpenter can’t take it to the bank. Taylor Swift’s “Fortnight” featuring Post Malone dips 1-2 on the Official Chart Update, and, based on early sales and streaming data published by the Official Charts Company, is less than 1,000 chart units behind. “Fortnight” last Friday, April 26, opened at No. 1 on the Official Chart, for Swift’s fourth leader, while its parent LP The Tortured Poets Department (EMI) rampaged its way to the summit of the albums chart, for her 12th leader and third chart double.

Another track from Swift’s double album could debut in the top 10, “I Can Do It With A Broken Heart.” It’s new at No. 7 on the Official Chart Update, and could lift her career tally of U.K. top 10s to 29.

Dasha’s “Austin” (Warner Records), meanwhile, is predicted to hold at No. 10.

All will be revealed when the Official U.K. Singles Chart is published late Friday, May 3.

Feid & ATL Jacob Take ‘Luna’ to the Moon, Rising to No. 1 on Latin Airplay

A new partnership reaches No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay chart (dated May 4), as Feid and ATL Jacob’s “Luna” rises 2-1 to lead the 50-track-deep ranking. The song becomes the 11th collaboration in 2024 to land at the summit, with three of them Feid collabs.

“Luna,” released on Universal Music Latino/UMLE, ascends to the top slot from No. 2 after a 15% increase to 10.73 million audience impressions on U.S. reporting radio stations during the April 19-25 tracking week, according to Luminate. The new No. 1 unseats Prince Royce and Gabito Ballesteros’ “Cosas de La Peda,” which spent one week in charge. It falls to No. 3 with 8.33 million in audience, down 23%.

“Luna,” produced by ATL Jacob, where the latter also provides background vocals, is one of ten cuts from Feid’s Ferxxocalipsis set, which earned the Colombian a third top 10 on Top Latin Albums (No. 9 debut last December). The song generated significant attention only after Feid shared an acoustic version on his Instagram account in January, thus followed a No. 20 launch on Latin Rhythm Airplay in February, where it holds at No. 1 in its second week.

With the new champ, American rapper ATL Jacob checks into the penthouse on the overall Latin Airplay tally for the first time. Feid, meanwhile, picks up his seventh No. 1 among 14 career entries. Further, as “Luna” shakes up the scoreboard, here’s a look at the 11 collabs, whether through co-billed or three-way combined efforts, that hit No. 1 on Latin Airplay in 2024:

Title, Artist, Peak Date
“Según Quien,” Maluma & Carín León, Jan. 6
“Bubalu,” Feid & Rema, Jan. 13
“Harley Quinn,” Fuerza Regida & Marshmello, Feb. 3
“Borracho y Loco,” Yandel & Myke Towers, Feb. 17
“Qlona,” Karol G & Peso Pluma, March 2
“Por El Contrario,” Becky G, Leonardo Aguilar & Angela Aguilar, March 9
“No Es Normal,” Venesti, Nacho & Maffio, March 16
“Puntería,” Shakira & Cardi B, April 6
“Perro Negro,” Bad Bunny & Feid, April 20
“Cosas de La Peda,” Prince Royce & Gabito Ballesteros, April 27
“Luna,” Feid & ATL Jacob, May 4

In addition to its Latin Airplay control, “Luna” ascends 9-8 on the multi-metric Hot Latin Songs chart, which combines airplay, streaming data, and downloads, despite a 6% dip in streams, to 3.5 million official U.S. streams generated during the same period.

“Luna” is one of the 36-song setlist on Feid’s Ferxxocalipsis Tour, the North American 27-date run that launched in Sacramento April 24 and will close in Miami on July 26.

Benny Blanco Makes Selena Gomez the Ultimate Steak Dinner

Benny Blanco is boyfriend of the year!

The producer took to Instagram on Monday (April 29) to document an adorable romantic gesture for his girlfriend, Selena Gomez — making her a full-blown steak dinner. “I woke up early this morning and I was like, ‘I want to do something nice for my girlfriend.’ I was thinking, whenever I want to put a smile on her face or get laid, I just make her steak.”

Blanco then took fans through his process of making the perfectly smoked steak, crispy potatoes and a Caesar salad. “If you’re not making homemade croutons, you’re an idiot,” he joked.

When the meal was finally complete, the star put the food into a storage container and was planning to “sneak” into her work and give it to her. However, Gomez had the day off, so he went to her house. When he arrived, the “Love On” singer was still sleeping. “I’m going to write a cute little note and leave it by her bed so she can eat it later,” Blanco revealed, before writing the note and putting it on her nightstand, giving her hand a little squeeze before heading out.

When Gomez woke up, she shared the sweet gift to her Instagram Stories, along with the note that reads: “I love you! Sleep well! I made you steak.”

Gomez first confirmed that she and Blanco were dating on Dec. 7, about six months into their romance. In a reply to fans on Instagram, she wrote that he “is my absolute everything in my heart” and that she is at her “happiest” in the relationship.

Sorry, but PartyNextDoor is outside and will be taking his new album PARTYNEXTDOOR 4 (P4) with him on the road on the Sorry I’m Outside Tour, which he announced Monday (April 29).

In the 48-second trailer directed by Aidan Wilde, Party (real name Jahron Anthony Brathwaite) takes fans through his latest album journey from the studio to the stage and from the bright lights and police sirens of Hollywood (with his “Real Woman” single title replacing the Hollywood sign) to his Toronto hometown. In one scene, a sea of people are throwing their hands up in unison while chanting the sample of the late DMX‘s “Party Up (Up in Here)” in his single “Lose My Mind.” “Dates announced tomorrow,” Party wrote underneath the clip on Instagram.

The Canadian-Jamaican R&B star released his fourth studio album, PARTYNEXTDOOR 4 (P4), on April 26, 2024, via OVO Sound and Santa Anna Label Group. P4 arrives four years after his last studio LP Partymobile, which peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard 200 and No. 4 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. The 14-track project contains no features and other previously released singles “Her Old Friends” and “Resentment,” the latter of which reached the top 10 of Hot R&B Songs. “This is the hardest I’ve ever worked on an album. This is the proudest I’ve felt,” he told Billboard in his recent cover story.

In his 2014 biography, Billy Joel: The Definitive Biography, Joel revealed that he originally wrote the classic about all of the models in Manhattan, but changed the initially plural title of the song to singular when he began dating Brinkley. Brinkley and Joel tied the knot in 1985 and welcomed their daughter Alexa Ray Joel that same year. They were married for nearly a decade before divorcing in 1994.

Earlier this year, Joel unveiled his first single in nearly two decades, “Turn the Lights Back On,” which he performed at the 2024 Grammy Awards. “The melody, the chords, the chord progression, even the time signature was something that struck me immediately, and that’s how I relate to music,” he previously shared of writing the song with Freddy Wexler. “This particular lyric in this song, I’ve had these thoughts, I could have written these lyrics verbatim. I’ve chewed on these words and I’ve thought of these words, and I’ve said these words before. It was all kind of falling into place — and who am I to fight that?”

Last month, KALEO returned with the new single “Lonely Cowboy,” which is available on all streaming platforms and is joined by a stunning performance video shot inside Rome’s historic Colosseum. The stand-alone track notably marks the group’s first new original music in three years.

“Lonely Cowboy” hinges on a softly plucked acoustic guitar and sparse orchestration, while gruff, yet warm vocals remain the guiding force. “Guess it’s time to say goodbye to the rider of the night,” sings vocalist, guitarist, pianist, songwriter and producer JJ Julius Son as he paints a vivid picture underscored by a proud and intentional homage to Italian film composer Ennio Morricone.

JJ commented on the song, sharing, “It feels like a Spaghetti Western, and I love those vibes. My friends and family have always encouraged me to put it out, but now was the right time. It’s an important one for me.”

The Colosseum show took place in front of 250 of the group’s biggest fans at the Archeological Park of the Colosseum in Rome, joining the ranks of Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Billy Joel, The Cure, Elton John and Paul McCartney as the only artists to ever perform an electric concert in front of the iconic monument. Presented by VERTIGO LIVE, a leading producer of cinematic live experiences, the momentous night was captured on film and will be released as KALEO: Viva Roma in the Shadow of the Colosseum later this summer. Rapsody Says to ‘Get the F— Outta Here’ With Any ‘To Pimp a Butterfly’ Slander After J. Cole’s Kendrick Lamar Diss Track

During an appearance on the Bootleg Kev podcast, Rapsody was asked her feelings about J. Cole apologizing to fans and Kendrick Lamar after dropping his “7 Minute Drill” diss record from his recent mixtape Might Delete Later. On the track, Cole took shots at Lamar’s discography, most notably To Pimp a Butterfly, calling the Compton rapper’s third solo effort boring, rapping, “Your second sh– put n—as to sleep, but they gassed it.”

Rapsody — who, like Cole, is from North Carolina and was featured on Lamar’s To Pimp a Butterfly track “Complexion (A Zulu Love)” — was reluctant to give her opinion, but ultimately had this to say when asked about the apology.

Trending on Billboard

“I try not to speak on these things,” she began. “I hold my thoughts to myself. But, aye, he’s a man, he made his decision. But I’m just speaking from me, if I’m in that position? I love the spirit of what this is or the sport of it. And if it’s me, I’m goin’, ‘Homie or not, let’s go.’ You know, he approached it how he approached it.”

On the subject of To Pimp a Butterfly suddenly being considered mid, she wasn’t buying into that narrative.

“I thought about that when Cole made his apology,” she said. “And when he did it, I would never approach his discography. But at the art of war … war is war. But it’s funny to see the landscape of sheep to me. And it’s like, because we’re in this battle and he says it’s not good, everybody is like, ‘Yeah, we don’t think it’s that good’? Get the f— outta here.”

Shaboozey & Beyoncé Make History as ‘A Bar Song (Tipsy)’ Replaces ‘Texas Hold ’Em’ Atop Hot Country Songs Chart

Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” bounds to No. 1 from No. 6 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart (dated May 4). The song, which interpolates J-Kwon’s 2004 hip-hop classic “Tipsy,” marks the first leader on the list for the Virginia native (born Collins Obinna Chibueze).

“A Bar Song (Tipsy)” surged by 95% to 20.9 million official U.S. streams; 1,202% to 170,000 radio airplay audience impressions; and 48% to 14,000 sold April 19-25, according to Luminate.

Trending on Billboard

Notably, as Shaboozey dethrones Beyoncé’s “Texas Hold ‘Em,” which reigned for the past 10 weeks, two Black artists have led back-to-back for the first time since Hot Country Songs became an all-encompassing genre ranking in 1958.

Shaboozey guests on two tracks on Beyoncé’s LP Cowboy Carter, which leads Top Country Albums for a fourth week (with 66,000 equivalent album units): “Spaghettii” (also with Linda Martell) and “Sweet * Honey * Buckiin’.” He recently told Billboard that he’s “so happy to have such a powerhouse of an artist that chose to take this journey to country, so it’s amazing to be a part of that.”

A week earlier, Shaboozey soared to No. 1, from No. 34, on the Emerging Artists chart and “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” topped Digital Song Sales and Country Digital Song Sales, marking his first coronations on Billboard’s charts. He adds a second week atop Emerging Artists, while the track paces Country Digital Song Sales for a second frame.

The song is the lead single from Shaboozey’s American Dogwood/EMPIRE album Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going, due May 31. He previously released the sets Cowboys Live Forever, Outlaws Never Die in 2022 and Lady Wrangler in 2018. He told Billboard that he describes the new LP as “a little bit of this genre that even Cowboy Carter created, just a bit of everything. A lot of country, but some hip-hop moments on there, too. But a lot of my personal story and journey.”

J-Kwon’s “Tipsy” ruled the Hot Rap Songs chart for five weeks and hit No. 2 on both the Billboard Hot 100 and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs in 2004. The St. Louis rapper recently told Billboard of Shaboozey’s revival of the song, “It really ain’t even paying homage … let’s say it like this: we did that together, and I’m proud of him.”

All charts dated May 4 will update on Billboard.com tomorrow, April 30.
