Tommy Richman’s ‘Million Dollar Baby’ & Sabrina Carpenter’s ‘Espresso’ Top Billboard Global Charts

Tommy Richman’s breakthrough hit “Million Dollar Baby” rises to No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200 and Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso” scores a third week atop the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart.

Plus, Billie Eilish debuts three songs in the top 10 of both the Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S., all from her new album, Hit Me Hard and Soft, and aespa notches its first Global Excl. U.S. top 10 with “Supernova.”

The Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. charts, which began in September 2020, rank songs based on streaming and sales activity culled from more than 200 territories around the world, as compiled by Luminate. The Global 200 is inclusive of worldwide data and the Global Excl. U.S. chart comprises data from territories excluding the United States.

Chart ranks are based on a weighted formula incorporating official-only streams on both subscription and ad-supported tiers of audio and video music services, as well as download sales, the latter of which reflect purchases from full-service digital music retailers from around the world, with sales from direct-to-consumer (D2C) sites excluded from the charts’ calculations.

Richman Cashes In on Global 200

Tommy Richman’s “Million Dollar Baby” pushes 2-1 on the Global 200 with 109 million streams (down 12%) and 8,000 sold (down 2%) worldwide May 17-23.

The Woodbridge, Va., native rules the Global 200 with his first overall Billboard chart entry as a lead artist. It’s just the third such No. 1, and the first R&B/hip-hop hit, among 61 total leaders since the list launched, following GAYLE’s “abcdefu” (four weeks at No. 1 in January-February 2022) and Jawsh 685’s “Savage Love (Laxed – Siren Beat),” with Jason Derulo and BTS (one week, October 2020).

Post Malone’s “I Had Some Help,” featuring Morgan Wallen, drops to No. 2 on the Global 200 a week after it debuted at No. 1 and Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” keeps at No. 3, two weeks after it arrived at the summit.

Billie Eilish debuts three songs in the Global 200 top 10, all from her new LP, Hit Me Hard and Soft, which starts at No. 2 on the U.S.-based Billboard 200 albums chart. “Lunch” bows at No. 4, led by 95.3 million first-week worldwide streams, joined in the tier by “Chihiro” at No. 6 (77.1 million) and “Birds of a Feather” at No. 8 (64 million). Eilish ups her career count to seven Global 200 top 10s.

Rounding out the Global 200’s top five, Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso” drops 4-5, after hitting No. 2.

Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso” adds a third week at No. 1 on the Global Excl. U.S. chart, with 63.9 million streams (up 7%) and 3,000 sold (up 20%) outside the U.S. May 17-23.

Billie Eilish’s “Lunch” debuts at No. 2 on Global Excl. U.S., with 63 million streams outside the U.S., followed by her “Chihiro” (No. 4; 50.1 million) and “Birds of a Feather” (No. 9; 39 million). As on the Global 200, Eilish now boasts seven Global Excl. U.S. top 10s.

Tommy Richman’s “Million Dollar Baby” descends to No. 3 after reaching No. 2 on Global Excl. U.S. and FloyyMenor and Cris Mj’s “Gata Only” holds at No. 5, after hitting No. 3.

Plus, aespa achieves its first Global Excl. U.S. top 10 as “Supernova” shoots 23-7, up 73% to 45.4 million streams outside the U.S. The South Korean quartet – comprising members Giselle, Karina, Ningning and Winter – tallied five prior top 40 hits on the chart: “Drama” (No. 21 peak, November 2023), “Spicy” (No. 40, June 2023), “Girls” (No. 25, July 2022), “Savage” (No. 24, October 2021) and “Next Level” (No. 34, June 2021).

This run will include the French duo’s first ever headlining show at the Hollywood Bowl on Oct. 4, a show that will mark the pair’s biggest U.S. headlining performance to date.

Also all happening in October, additional dates include Denver’s Mission Ballroom, Portland’s Edgefield On the Lawn and four other shows in Vancouver, B.C.; Seattle; Atlanta and Chicago.

The new shows expand Justice’s 2024 U.S. tour behind its latest album Hyperdrama, with six previously announced shows happening in Brooklyn, N.Y.; Washington, D.C., Boston; Philadelphia and Miami, where Justice will be one of the headliners for III Points 2024.

Justice made its live comeback this past April at Coachella 2024, where the duo — Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay — debuted a hot-anticipated new live show. This stage rig is a morphing amalgamation of chrome and lights, adding dazzling accompaniment to music from the duo’s fourth studio album, Hyperdrama, released in April by Justice’s longstanding label, Ed Banger Records.

In the pair’s April Billboard cover story, the duo reported working with a team of seven computer scientists to develop this new show.

Jason Kelce Teases Brother Travis Kelce About His Outfit With Taylor Swift Joke: ‘Now That’s Funny!’

Taylor Swift‘s cats likely didn’t have a hand — sorry, a paw — in designing Travis Kelce‘s recent attire, but it sure does look like it. At least, that’s what Jason Kelce thinks.

The retired Philadelphia Eagles center reposted a tweet Monday (May 27) poking fun at his baby brother’s recent basketball game outfit, which included a pair of jeans sliced all over with harsh cutouts. “What the f–k did taylor cats do with his jeans,” one Swiftie wrote on the platform, sharing a photo of Travis’ ‘fit.

Retweeting the joke, Jason wrote, “Now that’s funny!”

Travis had worn the unorthodox pants a day prior at the Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Dallas Mavericks playoff game, which he attended alongside Kansas City Chiefs teammates Patrick Mahomes and Marquise Brown, as well as Brittany Mahomes, who is married to the quarterback. He paired the shredded denim with sunglasses and a simple white T-shirt, which boasted the image of a red apple on the front.

Swift is the proud owner of three cats — Meredith Grey, Olivia Benson and Benjamin Button. Olivia was recently ranked as the world’s third-richest pet with an estimated net worth of $97 million, and Benjamin appeared with his superstar human on the cover of TIME in December.

Jason’s recent teasing of Travis comes shortly after the two brothers addressed a more serious topic on their joint podcast New Heights. On Friday’s (May 24) episode, the duo finally shared their reactions to Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker’s controversial commencement speech at Benedictine College earlier this month, in which he quoted Swift’s “Bejeweled” while condemning President Joe Biden, abortion, birth control, LGBTQ Pride, the “cultural emasculation of men” and more.

“I’ve known him for seven-plus years,” Travis said on the show of Butker. “I cherish him as a teammate … He is every bit of a great person and great teammate. He’s treated friends and family that I’ve introduced to him with nothing but respect and kindness, and that’s how he treats everyone.”

“When it comes down to his views and what he said … those are his,” the tight end continued at the time, meanwhile Jason nodded in agreement. “I can’t say I agree with the majority of it, or just about any of it outside of him loving his family and his kids. I don’t think I should judge him by his views, especially his religious views, of how to go about life. That’s just not who I am.”

Snoop Calls Drake & Kendrick Lamar His ‘Nephews’ & Thanks Them for ‘Raising the Bar’ in Rap Feud

Snoop Dogg has given his thoughts on the Kendrick Lamar and Drake beef. While promoting his role in The Garfield Movie during a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, the Doggfather shouted out both rappers for setting a good precedent.

“Well, the only thing I want to say about that whole scenario is that I want to give both of them a shout-out for raising the bar as far as lyrics, as far as song making and writing because the writing has been upped since the confrontation,” he said. “Those are my nephews. I’m not in the middle of it. I support both of them and that’s personal business, not my business.”

Finally, Snoop added, “As far as what they did for the industry and the rap game, they made you rap again. You can’t mumble your way and gimmick your way to a song no more, buddy. So thank y’all.”

If you remember, the West Coast legend was taken aback by Drake’s “Taylor Made Freestyle” in a video he posted on Instagram April 20, saying, “They did what? When? How? Are you sure? [Sighs] Y’all have a good night and too all … [Laughs]… Why everybody calling my phone, blowing me up? What the f—k? What happened? What’s going on? I’m going back to bed. Good night.” He then reposted a fan-made clip of the song on his IG Story.

Snoop saying he’s not in the middle of the beef is interesting, though, since his voice was used by Drake in a troll job gone awry as he tried to rush Kendrick into responding to “Push Ups.” The Toronto rapper was eventually forced to take down “Taylor Made Freestyle” by the Tupac estate after being threatened with litigation.

Ed Sheeran’s Childhood Dream Comes True With Offspring Collab on ‘Million Miles Away’ at BottleRock Fest: ‘Music Is a Wild Ride’

Ed Sheeran has basically been waiting his whole life for a moment like this. During the Offspring‘s set at this weekend’s BottleRock Festival in Napa Valley, Calif. on Sunday night Sheeran came out on stage to join the veteran Cali punks for blitz through “Million Miles Away” from their 2000 Conspiracy of One album.

In a video posted afterwards, Sheeran shared the moment he met his heroes, which began with Ed asking, “Have you seen the tattoo?” The singer promptly lifted his shirt to show off the Offspring flaming skull logo ink located just under his right armpit — in close proximity to a Rolling Stones lips and tongue logo — as singer Dexter Holland, guitarist Noodles and the gang yelled and clapped in glee.

“It was the first-ever album that I owned,” Sheeran told the group about their turn-of-the-millennium LP that debuted at No. 9 on the Billboard 200 album chart at the time. And then, as if he’d rehearsed it his whole life in his head, Sheeran told Holland how the planned collaboration would go, saying, “So you always go first and third and I’ll always go second and fourth.”

“You’ve thought about this?” said surprised rhythm guitarist Jonah Nimoy. Sheeran laughed and the the whole crew rushed through an unplugged rehearsal in their dressing room, with the two men trading off lines, just like Ed had imagined.

The singer’s video of the special moment then cut to the Offspring’s set, with Sheeran rocking a black Offspring t-shirt as he strummed an electric guitar and “whoo ooh ooh”‘d along like he was born in Orange County.

In an accompanying Instagram post Sheeran offered some more context for his dream collab. “The first album I ever bought was the @offspring – Conspiracy of One. I used to pretend to be in their band in the mirror and sing along to the album when I was 9, mostly to their song ‘Million Miles Away’ as it was the first song of theirs I heard,” Sheeran wrote. “I mentioned it in an interview and Noodles / Dexter got in touch with me when we found out we were all playing the same festival, to see if I wanted to get on stage and sing it. It was an instant yes obvz. Really felt like living out a childhood dream thank you for having me up there guys. Music is a wild ride, every day I’m so grateful to be living my dream in reality.”

Watch Cardi B Troll Body-Shamers by Devouring a Plate of Pancakes: ‘Everybody’s Saying I Look Fat …’

Cardi B is totally bothered by what haters have to say about her figure … not. In a newly shared video, the rapper trolls body-shamers by eating a plateful of syrupy pancakes, seemingly making fun of the negative comments she’s been receiving about a recent performance between bites. 

In the clip, Cardi wears a bathrobe while cutting up a stack of flapjacks, sarcastically pretending to cry. “I’m getting body-shamed, I’m so sad,” she says through a mouthful of pancake.  

“Everybody’s saying I look fat, that my a– is so fat,” she continues, piling on some whipped cream. “Everybody hates me.”

The “Up” musician’s comments appear to relate to her Memorial Day weekend performance at Drai’s Nightclub in Las Vegas (aka the site of her viral microphone-throwing incident last summer). Saturday night, Cardi fired up the crowd in a skin-tight leopard-print bodysuit. 

The concert came just a few days after the Bronx native stopped by Megan Thee Stallion’s show at Madison Square Garden, where the two women performed their 2021 Billboard Hot 100-topping smash “WAP” together. Later that night, GloRilla joined the pair onstage for “Tomorrow 2.” 

The triumphant reunion followed Cardi’s May 16 Rolling Stone cover story, in which she asserted her role in helping other women in hip-hop find success. “These labels was not believing in repping new rap artists,” she told the publication. “People from every single label have f–king told me this s–t in my face. They started signing new female rappers after I got signed.”

Peter Frampton to Become Inaugural Recipient of Les Paul Spirit Award

Peter Frampton will become the inaugural recipient of the Les Paul Spirit Award on Sunday, June 9, at a private event at the Gibson Garage Nashville. The event will take place on what would have been Paul’s 109th birthday.

The annual award, in partnership with Gibson Gives, the philanthropic division of Gibson, is presented to an individual who exemplifies the spirit of the late Les Paul through innovation, engineering, technology and/or music. In addition to the award, a grant from the Les Paul Foundation will be made in the honoree’s name to the charity of his choice.

Frampton will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame later this year. His 1976 album Frampton Comes Alive! is one of the bestselling live albums in history. The double-disk album topped the Billboard 200 for 10 nonconsecutive weeks and spawned three major hits on the Billboard Hot 100 – “Show Me the Way,” “Baby, I Love Your Way” and “Do You Feel (Like We Do).” Frampton’s use of the talk box to create a human and guitar hybrid sound on the latter hit was considered groundbreaking.

Frampton Comes Alive! received a Grammy nod for album of the year. Thirty years later, Frampton’s Fingerprints won a Grammy for best pop instrumental album.

“I cannot think of anyone more fitting to be honored with this year’s Les Paul Spirit Award than Peter Frampton,” Michael Braunstein, executive director of The Les Paul Foundation, said in a statement. “Not only is he an extraordinary talent who has given us an amazing array of extraordinary music, but he is an innovator who understands music, technologies and the spirit of Les Paul. If Les were still alive today, I have absolutely no doubt that he and Peter would be experimenting together at Les’ house.” 

Paul, who died in 2009 at age 94, won Grammys for best instrumental performance in pop, rock and country categories, a sign of his broad influence. He received a trustees award from the Recording Academy in 1983 and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as an early/musical influence in 1988. In addition to his innovations with the guitar, Paul was half of one of the top vocal duos of the 1950s. Les Paul and Mary Ford’s biggest hits were “How High the Moon” and “Vaya Con Dios (May God Be With You).”

The Les Paul Spirit Award is made from hand-carved acoustic boards built by Paul that he used in his home studio. Given the unique nature of the studio pieces which are being used to create them, no two Les Paul Spirit Awards will be exactly the same.

Frampton, 74, was diagnosed with a degenerative muscle condition called inclusion body myositis in 2019. (According to Johns Hopkins, IBM “causes muscle weakness that may worsen over time and damage the muscles.”) He continues to write and perform.

21 Savage Brings Drake Out for Surprise Hometown Performance in Toronto: Watch

21 Savage invaded Canada for his first headlining show north of the border when he took over Toronto’s Budweiser Stage as part of his American Dream Tour on Monday night (May 27).

The Slaughter Gang honcho made it a night to remember as he brought out the king of the 6 and his Her Loss partner, with Drake making a surprise guest appearance, which sent to the crowd into a frenzy.

Drizzy set things off as they performed the menacing Project Pat-assisted “Knife Talk” from his 2021 Certified Lover Boy album.

“One last time please, everybody in this city that we love so much, please make some noise for my motherf—-n’ brother 21 coming out here killing this s–t,” Drake said before letting Savage know Toronto was also his city. “You know I love y’all. I’ll see you soon. Give ’em one more. You home, right? It’s your city.”

The 6 God continued to hype up the crowd while he and 21 ran into Her Loss smash “Rich Flex,” which had the fans singing bar for bar. The Tay Keith-produced banger reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2022.

Drake and 21’s chemistry is still apparent after Savage joined Drizzy on the It’s All a Blur Tour last year throughout North America, including a show in Toronto.

It’s been a busy year for 21 Savage, who unleashed his Billboard 200-topping American Dream album in January, and the “Bank Account” rapper was also named to Time‘s TIME100 list of the world’s most influential people.

The 31-year-old is continuing to trek across North America for his American Dream Tour, which will make stops in Michigan, Ohio, NYC, Atlanta, Florida and more.

Tina Knowles Reveals Beyoncé Was Bullied As a Child: ‘She Was Very Shy’

Beyoncé may run the world now, but Tina Knowles has revealed that her daughter experienced her fair share of bullies back when the superstar was young. 

In a video interview with Vogue posted Sunday (May 26), the businesswoman opened up about raising her daughters to embrace their individuality — no matter who tried to break their souls. “Beyoncé, she was very shy,” she shared. “She got bullied a bit.”  

“The day that she stood up for someone … she didn’t stand up for herself, she stood up for them,” Knowles added. “I’m getting emotional talking about it. I couldn’t have been more proud of her.”

She went on to share that her youngest daughter, Grammy-winning musician Solange, has “always been an activist” and often went around asking people to sign petitions. As for Bey’s best friend and former Destiny’s Child bandmate Kelly Rowland, Knowles remembers the Mea Culpa star as being a “little peacemaker” when she was young. 

“Kelly was always this kid that tried to protect everybody,” she continued. 

Sharing the clip on her personal account, Knowles wrote, “Each child is different!”  

“But all so special,” she added. “I believe kids are born with their personalities. My three girls All handled things very differently. Learn their personalities and respect the individuality.” 

Bey is now a mom herself, with Ms. Tina taking on the role of grandmother to 12-year-old Blue Ivy and 6-year-old twins Rumi and Sir, whom the “Texas Hold ‘Em” singer shares with Jay-Z. That means the vocalist is imparting onto her own children the same lessons she previously learned from Knowles, including the importance of blocking out the haters and focusing on one’s craft. 

For instance, Knowles recently revealed that Bey had some wise words for Blue after her dancing at the Renaissance Tour received negative comments. “It was a great life lesson because her mom basically said, ‘Listen, if you let this get you down, then they won,” she recalled. “So you should go and work harder. And, you know, just work harder and get your skills together and go out there and blast it.’”

Zach Bryan, “Pink Skies”

The prolific Bryan is known for releasing music sporadically, with little-to-no leadup to an album in terms of promotional singles (think his previous self-titled LP and its Billboard Hot 100-topping Kacey Musgraves collab “I Remember Everything,” released for the first time as part of the album). But as he releases his new song, “Pink Skies,” stadium-headliner Bryan noted on social media that he’s set to soon release a new project, The Great American Bar Scene.

The harmonica-dipped, acoustic guitar-driven track — which Bryan previously previewed on social media under the title “Elegy”– describes preparing for a funeral, but in true Bryan fashion, infuses his melancholia-hued lyrics with stately percussion, lifting the somber track to crowd singalong status. A collection of memories tie together as Bryan sings to the departed familial patriarch on lyrics like, “You’d be proud/ But you’d think they’s yuppies/ Your funeral was beautiful/ I bet God heard you coming.” The new song seems poised to become another fan-favorite, cementing Bryan’s current ranking as a top-tier purveyor of conversational, poetic heartland rock.

Jamey Johnson, “21 Guns”

Jamey Johnson releases his first new music in nearly a decade, turning his potent songwriting talent and burnished voice to paying homage to military members who gave the ultimate sacrifice. Johnson wrote the song with Jim “Moose” Brown, inspired by the funerals that Johnson (who served in the U.S. Marines for nearly a decade) has attended for many of his fellow servicemembers whose lives were cut short. The song depicts attending a service for a fallen comrade, as the preacher gives the eulogy and the serviceman is given a customary 21 gun salute, before Johnson goes directly for heart-crushing truths on the line “The rifles fire and your life flashes right before my eyes,” adding, “I don’t need no one to tell me you’re a hero/ Hell I’ve known that ever since you were young.”

Johnson, one of the top songwriters of this generation, won two CMA song of the year honors for crafting “Give It Away” and “In Color.” Here, he offers his masterful songwriting pen and world-weary vocal in service to the memory of his fellow service members, speaking truth with a grizzled grace.

Midland, “Old Fashioned Feeling”

The Texas-formed trio returns with their first new music since 2022 with this sumptuous slow-burn they recorded at Savannah, Georgia’s Georgia Mae Studios, with Dave Cobb producing. Lead singer Mark Wystrach depicts coping with the last embers of a burned-out relationship by turning to a dim-lit bar, a stiff drink, and a cavalcade of memories. The track is brimming with old-school, soulful country sounds, and spearheaded by the trio’s harmonies, which are as smooth and warm as any top-shelf bourbon.

49 Winchester, “Fast Asleep”

Sextet 49 Winchester dusts off one of the group’s earliest songs and revitalizes it with help from the Prague-based Czech National Symphony Orchestra. The song launches with pared-back instrumentation, featuring little more than acoustic guitar and lead singer Isaac Gibson’s plaintive vocal, depicting the struggle and resolution of romantic ties, before the rest of the group and the orchestra joins in on the choruses, with the orchestra lending further heft to the band’s alright exemplary musicianship. The song is featured on the group’s upcoming album Leavin’ This Holler, out Aug. 2, via New West Records.

Shaylen, “Let Me Let You”

This Chattanooga, Tennessee-born, Dallas-raised singer-songwriter deftly blends elements of country, soul and punk on this new track. Shaylen wrote this track with Brett Tyler and Lindsay Rimes, pouring out the angst of someone who’s trying to pick up the pieces of a shattered relationship and transition to a new life chapter, only to find her ex keeps showing up at her door. “When it’s 2 a.m. missing me again/ Why you gotta let me know?” she sings. Shaylen’s strong, confident vocal inhabits a punk edge and ripples over polished country-pop construction of careening rock guitar, eruptive percussion and a chorus tailor-made to get audiences chanting along.
