Kamala Harris is a big music fan.
The Democratic presidential nominee took part in the music game Track Star, where she had to guess a song by a few seconds of its instrumental, winning money for each correct answer. Harris easily identified a song from Stevie Wonder, whom she called “one of the greatest musicians who ever lived. […] He’s a lyricist, he’s a poet, he’s very active on social justice issues and he’s actually a friend.”
Harris also admitted that because of her schedule lately, gearing up for the presidential elections, “this is probably the most music I’ve listened to in a long time.” She continued, “Both of my parents loved music. It was part of my childhood. We would go to sleep with them playing music all the time.”

She concluded by noting that the song everyone should know is Roy Ayers Ubiquity’s 1976 hit, “Everybody Loves the Sunshine.” She admitted, “It’s one of my favorite songs.”
Harris recently sat down with her Vice President selection, Tim Walz, for a wide-ranging discussion, where they brought up the music that shaped their lives. For Walz, it started with Bruce Springsteen’s 1980 album The River, which he called a “transformational piece of music” for him. He also shared his love for Bob Seger. “My first car, it was the summer of 1980 and I’d been saving up. I buy a 1973 orange Chevy Camaro,” he recalled. “Got an eight-track player in it. The previous owner left Bob Seger’s Night Moves in there. I listened to it, and it’s kind of the soundtrack of my life. […] What’s really great about it is I’ve got a ’79 international that’s my car and it’s got an eight-track player in it. I have the very eight-track to this day.”
Harris added that while Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Miles Davis and John Coltrane were main fixtures within her family home, one of her “personal favorite musicians” is Minnesota’s own Prince. “My husband Doug and I — I’m more of a hip-hop girl, and he’s more Depeche Mode,” she shared. “However, in the Venn diagram of things, Prince he and I love the same. Talk about how Prince was with that guitar, man. I almost know by heart every one of those songs.”
In case you were living under a rock or just woke up from coma, last night Lil Yachty had a public meltdown on Instagram Live over his former artist Karrahbooo and his podcast co-host and friend Mitch.

First, a clip of his podcast A Safe Place went around of him, Mitch, and Key Glock having a discussion about trying to understand why some want what others have when things got awkward. “Some people gotta eat, gotta feed they family, however the case may be,” Yachty said. “That’s when the militant part comes into play because sometimes, unfortunately, don’t wanna put in work and just want what you have. And that’s a whole different conversation because I ain’t been rich forever.” Adding, “I done been broke before, so who am I to tell this n—a not to go do what you gotta do.

Mitch disagreed and said you can give them different advice.” However, Yachty then replied, “Like what? You ain’t never had a job. What you gonna tell a n—a to get a job?” The Atlanta rapper then brought up what Mitch would be doing with his life if Yachty wasn’t around and all Key Glock could do was sit there in silence.
Naturally, Rap Twitter had a field day with said clip and criticized Yachty for being a bad friend. Boat addressed the viral clip during his IG Live session and stated he started the podcast to help his friend and said he was going to end it because Mitch wouldn’t defend him on social media. “I aint want to do no motherf—king podcast, n—a, I’m a f—king rapper.”
Lil Yachty goes off on his bestfriend and producer Mitch and cancels their podcast together ‘A Safe Place’ on IG live, for not clearing up a viral clip “I aint want to do no motherf*cking podcast n*gga, Im a f*cking rapper… I put $400,000 in Mitch pocket…” pic.twitter.com/OX9TloJQ58— SOUND (@itsavibe) August 23, 2024
Mitch then took to X to clear the air, suggesting him and Yachty joke around and are often brutally honest with each other.
As for Karrahbooo, a waitress at Red Lobster set fire to this whole night. X user @C_Staxxz claimed the former Concrete Boy member walked into the restaurant chain to buy some Cheddar Bay Biscuits said she was kicked out of the group after being asked why she left. The user also claimed Karrahbooo told her that “they were really mean to her and bullying her a lot.”
Those two now-deleted tweets bothered Yachty so much, he decided to hop on Live and finally address the situation. He responded by saying, “Tell people how you verbally abuse people. Don’t get on here to make it seem like niggas kicked you out… bullying you? Bro, go ‘head and tell people how you talk to people… You talk to people like they’re small, like they’re beneath you.”
He then claimed that he wrote all of her verses and styled her and the other members of the Concrete Boys. “I wrote every f—king verse you’ve done,” he said. “I dressed you. I dressed all five of y’all n—as, bro. I dressed five n—as every time we stepped out the house. I put an outfit on everybody. I put eight carat earrings in everybody ear. I put three chains on all y’all neck.”
Adding, “We bought a Cartier watch. I gave you that chrome Rolex, bro. You was waiting tables… What are we talking about, n—a? I changed your motherf—king life and you are here lying, talking about some, ‘We bully you’… That sh—t got me f—ked up, bro. You got me f—ked up, bro. You disrespectful, bro. You talk to people crazy. You tell people that they are nothing. You tell people you’re going to spit on them. You tell people they poor and you talk to my f—king label crazy. You claim I was stealing money from you. Stealing money from you how? You ain’t made no money.”
He continued, “This the problem with you new artists. Y’all get poppin’ online and then you become more popular than your actual music. You $900,000 in the whole and I got every f—king receipt.” Boat then brought up her viral On the Radar freestyle and said he was trying to make her pop off and it worked. “I slowed the beat down, I put 808s specifically on your verse so when it got to your part and the beat dropped, everyone would be like, ‘This girl is the craziest one.’”

For whatever reason, Boat finds himself in these situations and even went as far as to claim he was going to stop talking on the Internet. “I’m not doing no more talkin’,” Yachty said on Instagram Live last month. “I don’t got s—t else to say. I’m gone off this internet s—t. I think I’m gone for the rest of the year. I swear to God. I ain’t got s—t else to say.
Karrahbooo has yet to respond.
There was one extra Madonna in the Vatican recently.
One week after turning 66, Madonna gave fans a peek at her family trip to the Catholic Church headquarters via Instagram on Friday (Aug. 23). While in Rome, she snapped glamorous photos showing off a chic floral dress, hat and gloves, posing in front of the ancient Vatican City architecture and admiring some of the gorgeous marble statues and religious paintings immortalized on the walls inside the holy buildings.
“Arrivederci Roma!!!” she captioned the post. “a perfect ending to a Glorious Birthday Celebration with friends and family! … Ciao Italia!!!!”
The “Material Girl” singer also included a snap of her 11-year-old twins Estere and Stella wearing matching polka-dot dresses on the outing, as well as a photo in which she stands next to her rumored boyfriend, Akeem Morris. In the latter, Madge cools herself off with a delicate fan while the soccer player sports a white scarf as a veil over his head.

The post comes nearly four months after Madonna wrapped up her Celebration Tour in early May, closing out a career-spanning showcase that kicked off later than expected due to the superstar being hospitalized in June 2023 for a bacterial infection. On the Fourth of July this year, the Queen of Pop reflected on her recovery in a heartfelt Instagram post, writing, ”A year ago today, I had just come home from the hospital after surviving a life threatening illness, I could barely stand in my backyard holding one sparkler.”
“I made a miraculous recovery and had an amazing year,” she added at the time. “Thank you God. Life is beautiful!”
Later that month, Madonna and her twin daughters walked the red carpet at the Deadpool & Wolverine premiere in celebration of the icon’s 1989 hit “Like a Prayer” being used in the superhero film. In an interview with SiriusXM shortly before the premiere, the film’s star Ryan Reynolds and director Shawn Levy opened up about the process of getting the song cleared for the project, which apparently involved a personal visit to Madge’s house.
“It was a big deal to ask for it and certainly a bigger deal to use it,” Levy recalled. “We went over and met with her and and sort of showed her how it was being used, and where, and why.”
“She gave a great note,” Reynolds added. “She watched it, and I’m not kidding, [she said], ‘You need to do this.’ And damn it, if she wasn’t like spot on.”
Ye and Ty Dolla $ign took over South Korea’s Goyang Stadium for a Vultures 2 listening party on Friday (Aug. 23), and West gave the thousands of Korean fans in attendance a special treat with a solo set spanning his entire discography.
Yeezy even picked up the mic and rapped along to his greatest-hits medley, which boasted more than 70 tracks in total and featured everything from “Stronger” to “Runaway” and “Famous.”
At various points, Ye was prefacing his anthems with some shout-outs, and his on-and-off enemy Drake was on the receiving end of one ahead of Graduation‘s “I Wonder.”

“This one for Drake. This one for Ian Connor,” Ye said. Connor is a fashion designer who has faced a myriad of sexual assault allegations.
Some thought West was trolling Drake — since they don’t appear to be on good terms, but Drizzy is actually a huge fan of the poignant 2007 track. The 6 God posted lyrics quoting “I Wonder” alongside a photo with Ye following their 2021 Larry Hoover Benefit Concert at the L.A. Coliseum.
Jay-Z and some of his Roc-A-Fella associates were on the receiving end of a shout-out while West took it back to the 2000s for “Diamonds From Sierra Leone.”
“This for Hov right here,” he saluted his Watch the Throne partner with the Late Registration instrumental playing. “This for Dame. Everybody put your diamonds in the sky one time. This for [Kareem Burke] Biggs. This for [Kyambo Joshua] Hip-Hop, this for Gee Roberson, this for Lenny S, this for Beanie Sigel, this for Memphis Bleek.”
West wasn’t going to leave without taking a few shots at his former partner Adidas. He had the 40,000 in the audience join him in a “F— Adidas” chant before moving into his rebellious “Can’t Tell Me Nothing” banger. The Graduation track reached No. 41 on the Billboard Hot 100. “Ay hold on, hold on. Korea, y’all gotta help me with this. Say f— Adidas,” he said before repeating as the crowd’s chants got louder. “Don’t play with me!”
The Chicago-bred rapper seemed to be more inspired to pick up the mic and rap along to his catalog rather than the traditional Vultures listening experiences which see Ye and Ty Dolla $ign play the recorded versions of tracks over the venue’s speaker.
The Vultures duo was set to remain in Asia and perform in Taiwan over the weekend, but the performance has been canceled for reasons that remain unknown. Yeezy Chief of Staff Eric Cui claimed it was “out of their control.” Vultures 2 arrived Aug. 3 and debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, with 107,000 album units sold in the first week.

Sabrina Carpenter dropped her sixth studio album, Short n’ Sweet, on Friday (Aug. 23), and fans already have theories about some of the songs — including a love triangle between herself, Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello.

It all started when Carpenter and Mendes were spotted spending time together in February 2023, a year after the “In My Blood” singer split from Cabello in November 2021. Just two months later, Cabello and Mendes were spotted rekindling their romance at Coachella.
Following the release of Short n’ Sweet, fans noticed that some of the lyrics on the album seemingly refer to the situation. “Your car drove itself from L.A. to her thighs/ Palm Springs looks nice, but who’s by your side?/ Damn it, she looks kinda like the girl you outgrew/ Least that’s what you said,” she sings on “Coincidence.”

A number of other songs also follow a story in which the guy she is interested in goes back to his ex-girlfriend. “We never talk about how you/ Found God at your ex’s house, always/ Made sure that the phone was face-down/ Seems like overnight, I’m just the b—- you hate now,” she sings in “Sharpest Tool.”
Then, came the music video for “Taste,” in which Carpenter follows the same theme when she sings, “I heard you’re back together and if that’s true/ You’ll just have to taste me when he’s kissin’ you.” The corresponding, Death Becomes Her-inspired visual stars Jenna Ortega, who fans think was casted to represent Cabello in the clip, as they are both 5′ 2″ Latina brunettes. The video finds the duo finding ways to kill each other, before ultimately coming together to take down the man they both dated.

Of course, none of this is confirmed and remain just theories, but we’ve compiled some fan thoughts on social media, which you can check out below.
new sabrina carpenter album is absolutely fantastic, but it’s so funny to think about how it’s literally about the love triangle between her, shawn mendes, and camila cabello 😭 pic.twitter.com/leceCpYlu7— melina ♡ (@orngeshwspdwy) August 23, 2024
Anyone else think that majority of the songs on Sabrina Carpenter’s new album are about her and Shawn’s alleged fling? Seems like to her it was more serious than we all realized, but that he brushed it off as soon as Camila came back 👀 #trending #sabrinacarpenter #shawnmendes— Mike Capalungan (@mike_capalungan) August 23, 2024

Coldplay‘s 2021 album may be called Music of the Spheres, but Chris Martin has no intention of playing music in the Sphere anytime soon. John Rich has thoughts about a potential Taylor Swift endorsement of Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris. To kick things off, Sabrina Carpenter dropped her highly anticipated sixth studio album, Short n’ Sweet. The project features previously released singles “Espresso” and her Billboard Hot 100 chart topper “Please Please Please.” Along with the album release, Carpenter also dropped the thriller-inspired music video for “Taste,” starring Wednesday actress Jenna Ortega. Mura Masa, Curve 1
[embedded content]
English producer Mura Masa is back with his fourth studio album Curve 1, which — with its club focus, no f–ks attitude and an orange-red version of Charli XCX’s season-defining chartreuse — can be considered a counterpart to Brat. Tracks about doing drugs (“I don’t do drugs, but with you I do,” Daniela Lalita says while guesting on previously released single “Drugs”), sex (with a female voice purring in French on the otherwise sharp-edged “SXC”) and good old making out (“We Are Making Out”) give the project a happily messy YA feel, although the production throughout is fully mature, frequently lush, occasionally soaring and simply just cool throughout. The project is the first release on Mura Masa’s own Pond Recordings.
“Feels very different to be releasing a record this time around, being independent affords so much more control and connection to the work,” the artist born Alexander Crossan wrote on Instagram. “I wanted to make something no frills, no cynical music industry narrative, no manipulative backstory. Just music that I think is really great and that people can gather around. Can’t wait for you to hear it. My love to everybody who worked with me on this, and most of all my love to anybody who listens and connects with it.”
Sofi Tukker, Bread
[embedded content]
Sophie Hawley Weld and Tucker Halpern recently told us that the concept of their new album, Bread, is both simple — the title is an acronym for “be really energetic and dance” — and deep, with the title representing ideas about satiating pleasure with abandon and experiencing nourishing abundance. The visual aesthetic the pair has created around this world reflects these themes, particularly in the video for “Woof,” which features the duo and special guest Kah-Lo (who very much eats on her guest verse) riding around New York City on a double-decker while partaking in many forms of pleasure, from massages to dancing to making out cradling a puppy. Out on Ultra Records, the entire 10-track album contains this same sort of exuberance and style, making Bread a must devour.
Yaeji, “booboo”
[embedded content]
Yaeji says she made her latest after a period of deep introspection, with the producer finding — as so many of us do — that after a lot of soul searching, it feels really good to just dance, hard. Debuted during her recent Boiler Room set in New York, “booboo” is spare, tough and funky, with the producer slowly turning up the dial on a buzzsaw bassline, adding punches of kickdrum and then turning it all off to sample her own 2017 breakout hit “raingurl” before just encouraging everyone “to shake your booty from the left to the right.” The track is out on XL Recordings.
Swedish House Mafia, “Lioness” (Francis Mercier Remix)
[embedded content]
Francis Mercier works his considerable magic on the most recent Swedish House Mafia release, with the Haitian producer stripping the flutes, relaxing the BPM and taking the percussion down by a few levels and altogether turning “Lioness” into a steamy, dreamy, hard-emoting afrobeats affair. “This one hits extra hard for me,” Mercier writes of the remix, “as I remember buying tickets to all of their NY shows. Nothing is impossible.” Mercier has been touring heavily this summer, with dates over the next few weeks including Burning Man, New York Fashion Week and shows across Ibiza.
Mau P & Diplo feat. Gunna, “Receipts”
[embedded content]
Mau P further further establishes himself as an absolute star of the new generation of producers with “Receipts” a hypnotic club-focused collab with Diplo and Gunna that was debuted during the two producers’ four hour b2b at Coachella this past April. “‘Receipts’ came to life as Wes and I were preparing for our b2b Coachella set which was also my debut performance at the festival,” Mau P says. “We had been talking for hours about music and our various influences, after which Wes asked me the obvious question – ‘Should we try to create a song together that we can play at Coachella?’ He had recently done a session with Gunna and gave me an acapella to mess around with. One night during Miami Music Week, I came home from a show feeling pretty hyped up, opened my laptop and landed on the first version of this track. From there, Wes and I went back and forth to nail it, and eventually premiered ‘Receipts’ at Coachella.”
Seven Lions & Subtronics feat. Skylar Grey, “I’ll Wait For You”
[embedded content]
Seven Lions and Subtronics join forces (as “Seventronics,” naturally), with a track as huge and hard as you’d expect from the pair. But while both producers specialize in bass, they’re also both masters of layering on shimmering flourishes that give their work a deep space feel, even as it hits you over the head. Vocals from Skyler Grey give “I’ll Wait For You” added softness and power. The single is out on Seven Lions’ own Ophelia Records.
