A$AP Rocky Says ‘It Was Time’ to Reveal Rihanna’s Pregnancy at 2025 Met Gala

After Rihanna revealed ahead of Monday night’s (May 5) 2025 Met Gala that she was pregnant with her third child, expectant father A$AP Rocky was beaming with pride to reporters on the event’s red carpet.

“It feels amazing, you know?” the rapper said of letting the world in on their good news, as seen in an Associated Press video. “We were tired of holding that, and it was time to show the people what we was cooking up. I’m glad everybody’s happy for us, because we’re definitely happy.”

When asked how it feels to be getting so much love from fans around the reveal, Rocky said: “That’s amazing. Honestly, it’s a blessing nonetheless because you know how some people in other situations at times can be envious of other people, but we’ve been seeing love for the most part. We’re real receptive to that. We appreciate that, you know what I mean? That’s love. Love is love.”

Rihanna and Rocky share two sons together, RZA Athelston Mayers, who turns 3 years old this month, and 1-year-old Riot Rose Mayers. Her first pregnancy reveal was her most low-key, when she and Rocky confirmed they were expecting by taking a stroll through New York City with Rihanna’s bare baby bump on display. Her second pregnancy reveal came on the biggest stage there is, when she headlined the 2023 Super Bowl halftime show wearing an unzipped bodysuit to show off her growing baby bump.

She went major again with No. 3, choosing fashion‘s biggest night, the Met Gala, for the reveal. Following early photos of Rihanna making her way to the Met, she closed out the night’s red carpet just before 10 p.m. ET, wearing a menswear-inspired look topped off with a slouchy, wide-brimmed black hat.

Tems Steps Out in Colorful Ankara Gown & Matching Umbrella at 2025 Met Gala

Tems brought ankara, a vibrant African wax print popular in Nigeria, to New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art at the 2025 Met Gala on Monday (May 5).

British-Ghanaian fashion designer Ozwald Boateng helmed her blue and green tailored mermaid vest gown, which she wore over a blue pinstriped collared shirt with a green pussy bow and umbrella with a matching peacock design.

The Nigerian superstar has been on a roll this year, from winning her second Grammy for best African music performance with “Love Me JeJe” to joining the ownership group for San Diego FC as a club partner to becoming the first African female artist to hit 1 billion Spotify streams with her feature on Future‘s “WAIT FOR U,” also featuring Drake.

Rihanna & Her Baby Bump Close Out the 2025 Met Gala Red Carpet

Hours after Rihanna‘s surprise pregnancy reveal ahead of the 2025 Met Gala, the pop superstar made her way to the red carpet to show off her impeccable style and her new baby bump.

The Met Gala legend perfectly embodied the night’s “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” theme, wearing a menswear-inspired look that included a slouchy, wide-brimmed black hat; a gray corset over a white shirt collar topped by a black bolero jacket and burgundy polka-dot tie; and a pinstriped, button-down floor-length skirt. The skirt appeared to be created with an ultra-long men’s blazer, with its sleeves tied at her waist.

Rihanna finished the mobster-chic look with the perfect shoe: a black heel with a white lace-up spat.

Tyla Sweeps the Floor With Pinstripe Jacquemus Gown at 2025 Met Gala

Tyla served old Hollywood glamour and paid homage to at the late André Leon Talley at the 2025 Met Gala on Monday (May 5).

The South African star stunned on the blue carpet with her immaculately tailored off-the-shoulder Jacquemus gown that featured a beaded pinstripe design, and a floor-length cape that honored Talley, according to her stylist Law Roach’s Instagram Story.

This year’s Met Gala celebrated the theme of “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” inspired by Monica L. Miller’s 2009 book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity. The official dress code is “Tailored for You,” a nod to the spring 2025 exhibition’s focus on menswear and is “purposefully designed to provide guidance and invite creative interpretation,” according to Vogue.

“For Tyla’s makeup, we were channeling vintage Hollywood glamour — icons like Josephine Baker, Dorothy Dandridge, and Jean Harlow — with a modern twist,” her makeup artist Pat McGrath told Vogue. “The look focused on sultry smokey eyes using warm nudes and deep browns, paired with tonal red lips in varying shapes…. We also played with the brow — arched, softened, and gently toned to echo a new kind of modern Hollywood.”

Omar Apollo, Bad Bunny, Shakira & More at Met Gala 2025: Best Looks From Latin Music Stars

Omar Apollo channeled a sly cheetah galán, J Balvin exuded dapper energy in a vintage pink suit, and Bad Bunny donned a traditional Puerto Rican pava hat. Monday’s (May 5) 2025 Met Gala was a visual feast, and the Latin music stars came out in full force at one of the year’s most eagerly awaited fashion events.

Other luminaries in Latin music at the Met Gala included Shakira, who turned heads in a dreamy soft pink gown by Atelier Prabal Gurung with a fluffy train. Rosalía wore an immaculate sculpted white gown by Olivier Rousteing, and Maluma honored zoot-suit-era pachucho culture at the coveted event.

Andre 3000 Carries Piano on His Back at 2025 Met Gala & Drops New Piano Album at the Same Time

Leave it to André 3000 to get the Met Gala red carpet buzzing and do some album promo at the same time.

On Monday night (May 5), the Outkast legend showed up to the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute fundraiser with a baby grand piano strapped to his back, and at the same time, he surprise-dropped his latest instrumental album, called 7 piano sketches.

The album was released at 8 p.m. ET via Epic Records, shortly after André arrived on the carpet wearing his piano look by Burberry, in collaboration with benji bixby and styled by Law Roach. (This marked the debut for benji bixby, which is the latest incarnation of André’s late-’00s line Benjamin Bixby.)

André’s Met Gala look mimics the cover art of the new album.

In a press release, André said the original title for the project was “‘The Best Worst Rap Album In History’ and here is an excerpt from the original liner notes: ‘It’s jokingly the worst rap album in history because there are no lyrics on it at all. It’s the best because it’s the free-est emotionally and best I’ve felt personally. It’s the best because it’s like a palette cleanser for me.’”

7 piano sketches is the follow-up to another instrumental project from André, the 2023 flute album New Blue Sun, which was nominated for album of the year at the 2025 Grammys, along with two other nods for the work.

In November, André will be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame alongside bandmate Big Boi as part of Outkast.

Chappell Roan Makes Her Met Gala Debut in Glam-Rock Magenta Suit

For Chappell Roan, it feels like every day is the Met Gala. So it was no surprise that the always fashion-forward pop star would make a splash for her first time on those legendary steps outside the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday night (May 5).

For her Met Gala debut, Chappell went full glam rock, pairing a bell-bottomed patchwork magenta suit with a floor-length matching coat that blossomed out into a feather-lined train dragging behind her. The fitting final touch was her David Bowie-worthy makeup, with shimmering silver eye shadow up to her eyebrows, extra-long feathered eyelashes, and a pink pattern drawn down her cheeks. A slit at the front of her bell-bottom pants also revealed matching magenta heeled boots, and the look was topped by her flame-red curls brushed out to full volume.

While we saw the coat as Chappell exited the Carlyle Hotel to make her way to the Met, it looks like she posed in just the suit on the Met steps.

Shakira Stuns in Dreamy Pink Dress at 2025 Met Gala

The Colombian superstar stunned in a gorgeous pink dress at the 2025 Met Gala on Monday (May 5). Dressed in Atelier Prabal Gurung, Shakira’s dreamy soft pink dress was striking, particularly because of the super long train that trailed behind her for a dramatic touch that made it seem like she was floating across the carpet. She rocked her signature tousled hairstyle letting the dress take the spotlight.

Following a stint of shows in Latin America, Shakira is set to kick off the North American leg of her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran Tour on May 13 in Charlotte, North Carolina, and will then make her way to other cities including New York, Chicago, Boston, Miami and Los Angeles, to name a few.

Lizzo Channels Cruella de Vil on 2025 Met Gala Red Carpet

While no animals were harmed in the making of her outfit, Lizzo channeled the energy of 101 Dalmatians baddie Cruella de Vil on the 2025 Met Gala carpet.

It was all about the black-and-white color scheme of her dress, topped off with a bolero jacket draped over her shoulders. But the true Cruella moment came with Lizzo’s long cigarette holder and the pointed black-and-white manicure. The pop star leaned into the inspiration on the carpet, posing with her arms in the air like the famous Disney villain.

Lizzo finished the outfit with white-blonde hair worn in loose, flowing curls. Over on Instagram, Lizzo previewed the look with a teaser video alongside the caption: “Met… here I come!”

One X user spotted Lizzo’s Disney doppelgänger, writing, “Lizzo giving Cruella De Ville realness at the #MetGala.”

Shaboozey Rocks Turquoise Grillz & Beaded Suit for Met Gala Debut

Shaboozey took his tailored suit to a whole new level for his debut at the 2025 Met Gala on Monday (May 5).

The turquoise grillz, watch and beaded design across his black collared tank and behind his black cropped suit jacket added a nice pop of color to his ensemble. And Shaboozey traded his signature cowboy hat for a sleek black slanted hat.

Outside of his Met Gala debut, the “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” hitmaker has been having an incredible start to his week. His 2024 album Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going is No. 8 on the Billboard 200 this week (chart dated May 10), nearing its No. 5 peak from last June.
