Tomorrowland Is Returning to Brazil in 2023

Tomorrowland is returning to Brazil in 2023. The Belgium-based dance festival will happen Oct. 12-14, 2023, in Parque Maeda in Itu, a municipality of São Paulo.

This expansion marks Tomorrowland’s return to Brazil after a seven-year hiatus, as the fest also happened at the same site in 2015 and 2016, drawing roughly 150,000 attendees each year. “In addition to its grandeur as an event, the importance of Tomorrowland is reflected in actions aimed at the city and the local community,” Itu mayor Guilherme Gazzol said in a statement. “We are proud to host this world-renowned festival in Itu, a historical tourist city.”

With this return to Brazil, the Tomorrowland brand officially has four major events on the 2023 calendar, with the company hosting a one-day show in Mexico, CORE, on Jan. 14, 2023, in Tulum. This show will focus on the underground house and techno heard on the flagship Tomorrowland festival’s CORE stage, and include sets from Maceo Plex, Nina Kraviz, Channel Tres and more.

From March 18 to 25, Tomorrowland hosts its winter event at the Alpe d’ Huez ski resort in the French Alps. The lineup for this show is yet to be announced. The flagship Tomorrowland festival will then return to its longtime home of Boom, Belgium, over two weekends” July 21 – 23 and July 28 – 30, 2023. (For the first and only time, three weekends of Tomorrowland happened in 2022 as the festival attempted to recoup financial losses incurred during the pandemic.)

The company will then round out its year in South America, with its Brazilian event expected to again draw 150,000 attendees. The lineup for this show has yet to be announced.

Shania Twain Opens Up About ‘How Good It Felt’ Posing Topless: ‘I‘m Comfortable in My Own Skin’

The best thing about bein’ a woman is the prerogative to have confidence in your body, no matter what stage of life you’re in. That’s exactly how Shania Twain feels, anyway.

In a recent interview with People, the 57-year-old countrypop star opened up about why she chose to pose topless for the cover artwork of her September single “Waking Up Dreaming,” set to appear on her February album Queen of Me. “This is me expressing my truth,” she shared. “I’m comfortable in my own skin, and this is the way I am sharing that confidence.”

“I think the best fashion is confidence, and whatever you wear — if you’re wearing it with that, it’s fashionable,” she continued. “I am a woman in my late 50s, and I don’t need to hide behind the clothes. I can’t even tell you how good it felt to do nude shooting. I was just so unashamed of my new body, you know, as a woman that is well into my menopause. I’m not even emotional about it; I just feel OK about it. It’s really liberating.”

Though she has had her struggles with self-image, according to People, Twain has projected confidence in her body since the beginning of her career. In the music video for her 1993 single “What Made You Say That,” for example, she went braless. But now, she’s learning to carry that confidence into her late 50s.

“From the very beginning — the very first video — I was ditching the bra,” she told the publication. “But, I was a lot firmer then, so as I grew older, I started feeling a different pressure of, ‘Well, your breasts are not as plump as they used to be. Your skin is not as tight as it used to be. Maybe you should start covering it up a little bit more.’”

“I hit this wall and was like, ‘Whoa, my confidence is regressing,’” she added. “‘My courage is dulling. Why am I allowing this? Frig that.’ I am not regressing. I am embracing my body as it changes, as I should have from my childhood to my teens, as I should be from my taut 20s and 30-year-old self, to my menopausal body. I’m not going to be shy about it. I want to be courageous about it, and I want to share that courage in the artwork that I am directing.”

Stray Kids‘ New Album ’SKZ-REPLAY’ Is Here: Stream It Now

Who says new music needs to arrive on a Friday? Stray Kids defied the traditional release formula and dropped its third compilation album, SKZ-REPLAY, on Wednesday (Dec. 21) much to the delight of fans.

The new project contains a whopping 25 songs across two discs. Side A features 10 tracks consisting of eight solo songs from members Bang Chan, Lee Know, Changbin, Hyunjin, Han, Felix, Seungmin and I.N., as well as the Korean version of “Fam” (which received an official music video following the album’s release) and “#LoveStay.” Side B includes original songs from the group’s two video series, SKZ-Player and SKZ-Record.

SKZ-REPLAY is the third installment in the group’s compilation album series. Last year, the K-pop stars dropped SKZ2021 on Dec. 23 via JYP Entertainment. The album had a total of 14 tracks that the group had previously recorded, but were re-recorded to highlight its current eight member lineup.

SKZ-REPLAY follows the success of Stray Kids’ Maxident EP. Released in early October, the set hit the No. 1 spot on the all-genre Billboard 200 after earning 117,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. in the week ending Oct. 13, according to Luminate. The mini album, which marked the K-pop group’s second No. 1 release after Oddinary, arrived with single “Case 143,” which additionally hit the top spot on the Hot Trending Songs chart with help from the group’s devoted STAY.

The Specials Singer Terry Hall’s Cause of Death, Final Days Revealed By Bandmate: ‘The World Has Lost a Unique Voice’

Just says after the death of The Specials singer Terry Hall at age 63 after what the band described as a “brief illness,” the group’s bassist revealed the beloved singer’s cancer diagnosis, as well as the previously undisclosed album the group was preparing to record.

“We had it all planned out. Make the album we were going to do in 2020 – a reggae album,” wrote Horace Panter, an original member of the second wave British two tone ska revivalist group of the sessions that were already booked in Los Angeles during the first winter of the COVID-19 pandemic. Panter said Aggrolites keyboardist Roger Rivas was set to co-produce the set and famed street artists Shepard Fairey was on board to create the cover.

With 8 songs prepped for the sessions by Hall, “confidence was high,” Panter wrote, noting that a revised plan called for them to hit the studio in September of this year. “Terry e-mails everyone and says he’s in bed with a stomach bug and can’t do the first week of pre-production sessions,” according to Panter. “No big deal, we can knock everything back a week. We’re not due to fly out until November 4th. The next week, Terry is no better and is in hospital. There’s not much we can do except wait for him to get better. Sunday October 2nd and I get a phone call from Manager Steve. And everything turns to s–t.”

Panter said that Hall’s illness was “a lot worse” than anyone thought, writing that the singer had been “diagnosed with cancer of the pancreas which has spread to his liver. This is serious. Like life-threatening serious.” At press time Billboard was unable to independently confirm the description of Hall’s illness and cause of death.

After the pancreatic cancer diagnosis, Panter said that Hall then developed diabetes, with chemotherapy going well, but pushing any potential plans to record vocals to March 2023 at the earliest. “He is in and out of hospital to stabilise the diabetes issue and also to manage pain. It then goes quiet,” Panter wrote. “Beginning of December and reports are not good. Terry has lost a lot of weight and is very frail. His friend Ian Broudie visits and phones Manager Steve. He fears that Terry is slipping away. 15th December and Manager Steve drives up to London to visit. He calls me on his return journey and says things are not looking promising. Terry is dying.”

The day after the visit, Panter said Hall was placed on morphine and was essentially unconscious most of the time. He described Hall’s wife holding the phone to the singer’s ear so he could say goodbyes to his bandmates and family, including to Panter. The bassist said the “Ghost Town” singer died on Sunday evening. “The world has lost a unique voice and I have lost a good friend,” he lamented.

One of the leading lights of the late ’70s British ska revival, The Specials (originally billed as Special AKA) formed in Coventry, England, in 1977, with Hall replacing original singer Tim Strickland in the group notable for its multiracial makeup. Coinciding with the burgeoning Rock Against Racism movement in the U.K. at the time, the band members made a statement in their rude boy two-tone suits and porkpie hats and blasted out of the gate on their Elvis Costello-produced self-titled debut on their 2 Tone label, which featured their signature cover of Dandy Livingstone’s 1967 single “A Message to You Rudy.”

The outpouring of grief over Hall’s death came in a torrent in the days after, with everyone from Elvis Costello (who produced the band’s self-titled 1979 debut), to Go-Gos guitarist Jane Wiedlin (who sang backing vocals on the group’s 1980s More Specials album) and dozens of other friends, peers and collaborators sharing their thoughts.

One of the most moving was a wordless, emotional piano performance of The Specials’ 1980s track “Friday Night, Saturday Morning” by Blur/Gorillaz frontman Damon Albarn. “Terry, you meant the world to me. I love you,” Albarn wrote.

Nicole Scherzinger Is ‘Down for a Collab’ With Taylor Swift

When she grows up, she wannabe famous, wannabe a star, wannabe … Taylor Swift‘s next collaborator. Nicole Scherzinger shared with followers in a Tuesday (Dec. 20) TikTok that the door is definitely open if a certain 11-time Grammy-winning pop star ever wants to get into the studio together.

In the TikTok, the former Pussycat Dolls star stands in a recording booth, dressed in a black dress. Singing into a microphone, she jams out to a mashup of Swift’s latest No. 1 single, “Anti-Hero,” and “Buttons,” one of Scherzinger’s own hits.

“I’d be down for a collab @Taylor Swift ??,” she captioned the video.

Scherzinger posted the TikTok in response to one fan who thought she had been teasing a Swift collab in a previous video, in which she’d worn another all-black outfit and dark nail polish.

“Is the black nails a Reputation Easter egg?” the fan had asked, as black was Swift’s staple color throughout the Reputation era. (Reputation is one of Swift’s first six albums that she’ll eventually rerecord and rerelease.) “You and Taylor working together?”

So far, the “All Too Well” singer has dropped two of her six planned rerecorded albums: Fearless (Taylor’s Version) and Red (Taylor’s Version). Both of them included several previously unreleased songs, which she invited artists such as Maren Morris, Chris Stapleton, Keith Urban, Ed Sheeran and Phoebe Bridgers to record with her.

Fans have no idea which of Swift’s remaining four earlier albums — her self-titled debut, Speak Now, 1989 or Reputation — will be next, though the inclusion of additional collaborations on the next rerelease seem like a given considering the two already-released Taylor’s Versions. And whether or not the Masked Singer judge actually ends up on Reputation (Taylor’s Version), fans in her comments are just as ready for a Taylor team-up as Scherzinger is.

“THAT WOULD BE EVERYTHING!” wrote one. “I’m tagging @Taylor Swift so maybe she sees your post.”

“NS x TS?? I’M SO DOWN!!!!” commented another, to which Scherzinger replied with a heart emoji.

SZA’s Blown Away by the Success of ‘SOS’ on Billboard Charts: ‘NOT What I Expected’

SZA is celebrating the success of her sophomore album, SOS.

The TDE singer-songwriter shared her excitement about earning her first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 with SOS, and notching two top 10 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with the set’s “Kill Bill” (No. 3) and “Nobody Gets Me” (No. 10).

“A number one album and two songs in the top ten is NOT what I expected,” SZA captioned her Instagram post, which included a gallery of photos and chart stats. “I’m bad at celebrating myself but I wanna thank everybody that rallied around me and positively reinforced me these last few years.”

She added, “Thank you to every person that poured into this album. I love my team. Thank y’all for loving and arguing about the album Lmaoo. Imma take another swing at it for the deluxe then shut up for a while. God is excellent.”

SOS earns SZA her third Billboard 200 entry after her debut album, Ctrl, reached No. 3 in 2017, and EP Z peaked at No. 39 in 2014. SOS‘ “Kill Bill” and “Nobody Gets Me” give SZA her sixth and seventh Hot 100 top 10s.

SZA’s celebratory Instagram post included screenshots of the Billboard article boasting her first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200, along with a screen grab of her Hot 100 chart accomplishments. The carousel also featured a cute snapshot of the artist, whose real name is Solana Imani Rowe, posing with a large foam finger and shiny balloons spelling out “Solana #1,” and a hilarious Saturday Night Live video clip of Bowen Yang quoting her new song “Smoking on My Ex Pack” while dressed as Krampus on “Weekend Update.”

Her post drew numerous accolades in the comments section from fellow music stars Lizzo, Demi Lovato, Busta Rhymes and Benny Blanco.

“Yayy,” Lizzo commented, who also added a second comment praising the “Solana #1” photo. Lovato opted for a pair of flame and raising-hands emojis. And Rhymes added numerous crown emojis, while Blanco wrote, “i swear if u ran for president i would vote for u.”

SZA‘s hotly anticipated 23-track SOS arrived on Dec. 9 after a five-and-a-half year wait. Preceded by lead single “Shirt” and a tease of “Nobody Gets Me,” the set follows the recent Billboard cover star‘s smash 2017 album, Ctrl, which spawned hits such as “Drew Barrymore,” “Love Galore” and “The Weekend.”

Bad Bunny Teases Brand New Song Just in Time ‘to Close the Year’: Listen

Bad Bunny is doing it once again: surprising fans with brand-new music. On Tuesday (Dec. 20), just five days before Christmas, the Puerto Rican artist unleashed a preview of a never-before-heard track on TikTok.

“OK, now yes, check this out,” he said in the 50-second clip. “Let me play this for you. This is to close the year.”

Bunny’s sultry vocals are heard over a simple beat that soon transitions into a hard-hitting reggaeton. “He loves you and gives you everything/ But you’re the devil and you’re crazy for me/ You like the bad boys and are playing fire with me […] although you’re a sin, I’m going to hell following that big a–/ I’m on my way/ Today I’m picking you up after midnight,” he chants in the saucy snippet.

He teased fans some more in the caption. “Let me know if you want another preview,” he wrote, which has fans speculating in the comments that this could either mark the return of “Trap Bunny,” or that he might drop a whole new album before 2022 comes to an end.

As fans patiently wait for El Conejo’s next big move, there’s no denying that Bad Bunny was the year’s biggest music star.

Bad Bunny ruled Billboard’s year-end Top Artists chart for the first time, while his Un Verano Sin Ti made history as the first all-Spanish album to hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 year-end albums chart (and has spent 13 weeks at the top so far), and the album also became the first-ever all-Spanish release to earn a Grammy nomination for album of the year.

He also closed out the year with his record-breaking $435 million in tour grosses that combine more than 80 concerts from two separate tours (El Último Tour del Mundo and The World’s Hottest Tour). That amount became the highest gross for an artist in a calendar year since Billboard Boxscore launched in the late 1980s.

The unreleased track he teased on TikTok will follow his Arcangel-assisted “La Jumpa,” which debuted at No. 3 on the Hot Latin Songs chart dated Dec. 10, 2022.

On Tuesday (Dec. 20) the group encouraged their fans to drop by this year’s edition of their “Choose Love” pop-up shop in London — or to visit the store online — “to buy essential supplies like warm coats, hot food and heating fuel for refugees and displaced people all over the world this winter.”

A brief video accompanying the tweet showed a long line of people waiting outside the shop and a shot of the unconventional shelves inside stocked with toys for children, soccer balls, house plants, children’s backpacks, jerry cans and orange life vests, along with footage of coats and school supplies in the hands of kids in need.

“Everything you buy will go directly to the people who need them the most,” the video promised. “This year shop with love.”

Earlier this month, singer Chris Martin gave fans an update while sharing his current favorite songs. “I hope you’re all doing well. Here are some things I love at the moment,” Martin wrote in a note while listing his current top tracks, including include RM‘s “Yun” featuring Erykah Badu, Badu’s live rendition of “Tyrone,” Bayka‘s “She Like It,” The 1975‘s “Looking for Somebody (to Love),” Inhaler‘s “Totally,” Kyoka‘s “Hurt People” and Stormzy‘s “Hide & Seek.”

Martin concluded his message by writing, “We are in the studio. We send you all much love.” The band recently wrapped a massive world tour in support of 2021’s Music of the Spheres.

Morgan Wallen’s ‘You Proof’ Ties Record for Longest Leading Country Airplay No. 1

Morgan Wallen claims a share of history on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart as “You Proof” hits a record-tying eight weeks atop the survey.

The song, up 5% to 25.1 million audience impressions Dec. 12-18, according to Luminate, matches the No. 1 Country Airplay runs of Alan Jackson and Jimmy Buffett’s “It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere” (2003) and Lonestar’s crossover hit “Amazed” (1999), dating to the chart’s start in 1990.

“You Proof,” released on Big Loud Records, is also the first Country Airplay No. 1 to withstand multiple other leaders amid its command. After it ruled for five weeks (Oct. 15-Nov. 12), Tyler Hubbard’s “5 Foot 9” topped the Nov. 19 chart, followed by Thomas Rhett’s “Half of Me,” featuring Riley Green (Nov. 26). After “You Proof” led again on the Dec. 3 tally, Bailey Zimmerman’s “Fall in Love” paced the Dec. 10 chart, ahead of the two latest weeks at No. 1 for “You Proof” (Dec. 17 and 24).

Wallen co-wrote “You Proof,” his seventh Country Airplay leader, with ERNEST, Ashley Gorley, Keith Smith and Charlie Handsome, the latter of whom also produced it with Joey Moi.

Concurrently, “You Proof” leads the streaming-, airplay- and sales-based Hot Country Songs chart for an 18th week, becoming one of only 10 singles to reign for at least that long (since the list became an all-encompassing genre survey in 1958). It holds at the summit with 28.1 million in all-format radio audience, 12.6 million official streams and 2,000 downloads sold in the U.S. Dec. 9-15.

Barrett Moves ‘Up’

Gabby Barrett nets her third Country Airplay top 10 as “Pick Me Up,” which she co-wrote, pushes 11-9 (18 million, up 9%). Her first two entries (among four so far) each hit No. 1: “I Hope,” for a week in April 2020, and “The Good Ones,” for three frames starting in April 2021.

‘Tequila’ Talkin’

Jason Aldean scores his 36th Country Airplay top 10 as “That’s What Tequila Does” rises 12-10 (16.1 million, up 18%). The single follows “Trouble With a Heartbreak,” which became his 25th leader when it began a three-week reign in May. His first entry, “Hicktown,” marked his first top 10 (No. 10, 2005).

Aldean ties Garth Brooks and Blake Shelton for the ninth-most Country Airplay top 10s. George Strait leads all acts with 61, followed closely by Kenny Chesney (60) and Tim McGraw (59).
