Lil Nas X Took Selfies with Basically Every Celeb at the 2023 Met Gala

The rapper cozied up to Bad Bunny, Billie Eilish, Doja Cat, Paris Hilton and more.

So much for that “no phones” rule! Lil Nas X turned the 2023 Met Gala into his own personal photoshoot on Monday (May 1) by snapping selfies with … well, almost every famous face in attendance.

After hitting the carpet in his feline-inspired, barely-there ensemble covered in silver body makeup and a bejeweled face mask, the rapper covered up with a white fur stole and started hitting up pals for selfies. Over the course of the night, he bumped into everyone from Kim Kardashian, Cara Delevingne and Naomi Campbell to Bad Bunny, Billie Eilish and his “Industry Baby” collaborator Jack Harlow, who just dropped his third studio album Jackman.

The “Old Town Road” rapper may not have captioned any of the fourteen photos he posted on Twitter, but his eight million followers on the platform had plenty to say in the replies. “MOM DAD AND SIS I LOVE MY FAMILY,” one fan wrote under the Grammy winner’s ecstatic pic with Maluma and Anitta while another commented, “PARIS HILTONNNNNNN the way he’s eating with LEGENDS tonight omggggeee” on his sweet photo cozied up to the “Stars Are Blind” singer.

Plenty of fans couldn’t get enough of the two cat-on-cat selfies Lil Nas X posted with Doja Cat, who dressed in an homage to Karl Lagerfeld’s beloved cat Choupette with facial prosthetics. “This is the live action CATS cast we needed,” one joked. Another posted a gif of Elizabeth Banks as Effie Trinket in The Hunger Games and wrote, “It’s giving Hunger Games the Capitol.”

Cardi B, Doja Cat & More: Which Musician Had Your Favorite 2023 Met Gala Look? Vote!

Another Met Gala has gone down in the history books! Musicians and celebrities alike descended upon New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday (May 1) for the institution’s annual fundraising event, which also doubles as one of fashion’s biggest nights.

As always, the Met Gala follows a different theme each year, with 2023’s being “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty” to honor the late designer who passed away in 2019; the theme followed in the footsteps of previous designer tributes, much like 2017’s “Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between” and 2011’s “Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty.”

With the event honoring Lagerfeld’s legacy in the fashion world, musicians in attendance could pull inspiration or from Lagerfeld’s designs for Balmain, Patou, Chloé, Fendi, Chanel and his eponymous brand, which resulted in the events attendees either dressing like the icon — see: Cardi B, Pusha T and Conan Gray — or going the more daring route by dressing like Lagerfeld’s famous feline Choupette

Doja Cat was the talk of the town, as she elegantly arrived in a backless hand-beaded white gown by Oscar de la Renta a fitted hood punctuated by glittering cat ears and forehead jewels. In a clear homage to Choupette, Doja accessorized the look with facial prosthetics to make her look even more catlike.

Bad Bunny made a splash in the menswear department by showing up in a fitted, cream colored suits decorated with fabric rosettes. The look was business in the front, and a party in the back, as his suit jacket was backless.

Teyana Taylor Brought Chick-fil-A to the Met Gala

Sure, the Met Gala offers a multi-course meal for its celebrity guests, but Teyana Taylor opted for a different dinner option.

The “Bare Wit Me” singer dined on some Chick-fil-A chicken tenders and waffle fries that she brought to the event on Monday (May 1), and the whole situation was hilariously documented by Pusha T on his Instagram Stories.

“@teyanataylor is embarrassing me. She brought @chicfilausa to the #MetGala. I want her away from me…#HARLEM,” the rapper captioned a photo of Taylor’s full plate, with the official Met Gala menu offering dishes like salmon and pea soup seen underneath.

Pusha followed up with another video, in which the 31-year-old R&B singer is seen enjoying her food, with Usher laughing next to her. “@usher tried to stop her…” the “If You Know You Know” rapper wrote.

“It’s two types of people,” Taylor wrote on her own Instagram Stories, comparing Pusha’s pea soup to her own chicken and fries meal.

Taylor served one of the top looks of the night at this year’s Met Gala, which was themed “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty.” She rocked a black-and-white Thom Browne tweed backless jacket with cutouts at the hips and built-in gloves. She paired the look with a matching drop-waist skirt, a sleek black tie over a white collared shirt, thin black veil and aviator sunglasses reminiscent of the late German fashion designer’s favorite accessory.

“Luv” is one of four songs from FML in the top 10, with “Luv” followed by “Dust” at No. 5 and “April Shower” and “Super” at Nos. 9 and 10, respectively.

BLACKPINK’s Jennie Shares the Advice Rosé Gave Her for Her First Met Gala

Jennie of BLACKPINK strutted the carpet at the 2023 Met Gala on Monday night (May 1) and dished in an interview all about being there for the first time.

“I am everywhere, this is my first Met,” the K-pop idol told Vogue correspondent Emma Chamberlain upon arrival at the star-studded soiree. “I was really excited until I got off my car, like, two minutes ago.”

To fit with the evening’s theme — Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty — Jennie wore a vintage Chanel minidress from the late Lagerfeld’s fall/winter runway collection for the iconic fashion house in 1990. She accessorized the white number perfectly with black opera gloves and matching tights, and as a longtime Chanel ambassador, the rapper had insider access to the look for her big moment.

“I’m so lucky to have the Chanel team recreate this look from the ’90s — the one that Karl did, so I’m just, like, so happy!” she gushed.

Being her first time at the exclusive event, Jennie admitted she was looking forward to “literally everything” and had no idea what to expect, but also revealed the advice her BLACKPINK bandmate Rosé gave her after attending the gala in 2022 for In America: An Anthology of Fashion. “Rosie, she was here last year. She told me just have fun, so that’s the plan for today,” the “SOLO” rapper said.

Jennie also took to social media in the hours after the Met Gala to show off her dress from every angle, writing, “Merci mon chancel family for this dream look.”

Four Tet Announces Forthcoming Collaborative LP From Fred again.. & Brian Eno: ‘The Most Beautiful Album of 2023’

The Four Tet and Fred again.. collaboration train continues, this time with a new guest: Brian Eno.

Today on social media Four Tet announced that his label, Text Records, will release a collaborative album from Fred again.. and Eno this Friday, May 5. Four Tet called the LP, called Secret Life, “the most beautiful album of 2023.”

The collaboration is one among friends, as Brian Eno is a longtime mentor of Fred again.. the U.K. producer born Fred Gibson.

“I think of Fred as my mentor as well,” Eno told Zane Lowe last fall, “in that I learnt so much about contemporary music from watching him working. When I first worked with Fred I could see he was brilliant. It’s very clear. He’s a very very sensitive and good artist, and I was very impressed by that. But I didn’t really understand a lot of what he was doing. It took me quite awhile to think ‘oh my gosh, this is really a new idea about how you can make music.’ So I learned a lot from him. It’s a two way relationship.”

Four Tet, who’s playing three shows in Los Angeles this week tonight through Thursday (May 2-4), also noted that the album will get physical releases on vinyl and CD. A companion online radio station, secretlife.fm has been broadcasting daily starting at 10 p.m. U.K. time.

Secret Life is the first album from Fred again.. since the November 2022 release of his third studio LP, Actual Life 3 (January 1 – September 22, 2022). Eno’s last studio album, ForeverAndEverNoMore, was released in October of 2022. It was the legend’s 29th solo studio LP.

Meanwhile, Four Tet and Fred again.. are on an epic run, having headlined the second weekend of Coachella with Skrillex. The trio were added to the festival’s Sunday night lineup just the day before the event started, after the weekend one Sunday night headliner Frank Ocean dropped out after a leg injury.

Four Tet also released a new single, the eight-plus minute “Three Drums,” last week on Text Records.

Mariah Carey Celebrates Tony Nomination for ‘Some Like It Hot’

Mariah Carey took to social media on Tuesday morning (May 2) to celebrate Some Like It Hot scoring more than a dozen Tony Award nominations.

“Congratulations to the amazing cast and crew!!! Couldn’t have asked for better news to wake up to!!!” the Songbird Supreme turned Broadway producer shared on her Instagram Stories.

The musical leads this year’s pack of Tony nominees with 13 nominations, including best musical, best performance by a leading actor in a musical (both Christian Borle and J. Harrison Ghee), best performance by a featured actor in a musical (Kevin Del Aguila), best performance by a featured actress in a musical (NaTasha Yvette Williams), best direction, best book, best original score and more.

Carey, meanwhile, serves more than one function in the musical. Not only is she a member of the production team, but she also lent her voice to the pre-show announcement before the curtain rises. (“Welcome to the Shubert Theater!” she tells the audience each night. “At this time, please take a moment to turn off your cell phones. And remember: The use of photographic equipment and recording devices is strictly prohibited. And now, Some Like It Hot.”)

Should Some Like It Hot take home the Tony for best musical, Mariah would technically be halfway to EGOT status, thanks to the five Grammys she’s collected over the years out of 34 total nominations — including wins for best new artist in 1991 and best R&B song for 2005’s “We Belong Together.”

Here’s Why Doja Cat, Lil Nas X & Jared Leto Dressed as Cats at the 2023 Met Gala

The 2023 Met Gala kicked off on the first Monday of May (May 1), and saw musicians, actresses and other celebrities dressed up in the most fashionable and head-turning garments while descending upon New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Rihanna and A$AP Rocky, Dua Lipa, Olivia Rodrigo and more offered stunning looks, while Doja Cat, Jared Leto and Lil Nas X went the daring route with cat ensembles on the beige carpet, but some spectators were left wondering how feline costuming fit in line with the gala’s theme this year.

In line with previous themes such as 2017’s “Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between” and 2011’s “Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty,” the 2023 Met Gala’s theme was “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty” to honor the late designer, who passed away in 2019. Attendees could pull from Lagerfeld’s designs for Balmain, Patou, Chloé, Fendi, Chanel and his eponymous brand for inspiration or archival looks, but in the case of Doja, Leto and Lil Nas X, they chose to pay homage to designer’s beloved cat, Choupette.

To pay tribute to Lagerfeld and his relationship with the Birman, Doja gave a high-fashion take on the famous feline, opting for a backless hand-beaded white gown by Oscar de la Renta (the designer also had a close relationship with Lagerfeld) with a fitted hood punctuated by glittering cat ears and forehead jewels. The rapper accessorized the look with facial prosthetics to make her look even more catlike.

Lil Nas X left little to the imagination with his crystal outfit, donning silver full-body glitter and matching sparkling underwear and platform shoes in collaboration with makeup artist Pat McGrath and Dior Men. For his face, Lil Nas was decorated with glittering whiskers, as well as pearls, appliqué, rhinestones and more. Cat-winged eyeliner and sharp claws (nails by Temeka Jackson) completed the “Call Me By Your Name (Montero)” rapper’s look.

Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman Jared Leto, meanwhile, wore a literal Choupette costume that looked just like Lagerfeld’s famous feline companion. As the singer-actor progressed on the carpet, he removed his cat head to reveal intense, glittering eye makeup, and later removed the body of the costume to show an all-black ensemble consisting of a bedazzled cape, shirt and trousers.

Rihanna Explains How ‘Everything’s Different’ With Her Second Pregnancy at Met Gala

Rihanna, A$AP Rocky and their baby on the way were a glamorous party of three at the Met Gala on Monday night (May 1). And, while on the red carpet showing off her Karl Lagerfeld-inspired ballgown, the 35-year-old Fenty mogul opened up about how her experience with baby no. 2 has differed from her first pregnancy with her now one-year-old son.

“It’s so different from the first one,” she said, stopping to chat with ET on the sidelines. “No cravings. Tons of nausea. Everything’s different, but I’m enjoying it.”

“I feel good,” added the singer, who’s now in her third trimester. “I feel energetic.”

Rih also spilled on her baby boy waiting back at home, whom she welcomed with Rocky almost exactly a year ago on May 13. As his days of being an only child tick down, Rihanna has recently been treating fans to Instagram photos and videos of her son. In one post, he adorably enjoys his first Easter, and in another, he looks super cool sporting a Fendi jacket.

“I’m in love,” she told the publication of her firstborn. “I’m obsessed and I don’t even feel guilty about it.”

A$AP, who was at Rihanna’s side throughout the red carpet proceedings, also chimed in. “[He’s] growing big,” the rapper gushed. “Beautiful, happy baby.”

Some of the last people to arrive at the annual fashion extravaganza, the couple looked outstanding Monday night wearing their clothing tributes to Lagerfeld’s career. The “Umbrella” musician stunned in a white Valentino wedding gown decorated with white fabric roses, while Rocky paid homage to the late designer’s love of Scotland by arriving in a kilt.

One night prior, Rih teased her own Met Gala appearance by posting a series of photos wearing a furry, black and white Chanel look out in New York City. Both looks fit snugly over her baby bump, a hallmark of the singer’s trend-setting maternity style.

Snoop Dogg & Friends to Celebrate 30th Anniversary of ‘Doggystyle’ at Hollywood Bowl

Snoop Dogg is joining the Hollywood Bowl’s 2023 concert lineup. Snoop Dogg & Friends — subtitled 30th Anniversary of Doggystyle & More and produced by Dr. Dre — will take place June 27-28 (8 p.m. PT). The Los Angeles Philharmonic announced the new addition to the Bowl’s summer slate Tuesday (May 2).

A host of special guests will help the hip-hop pioneer, media personality and entrepreneur celebrate the anniversary of his seminal debut studio album. The performers will be backed by the ReCollective Orchestra led by conductor Derrick Hodge.

Released in 1993 by the rapper then known as Snoop Doggy Dogg, Doggystyle spun off two top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 and also his first as a lead artist: “What’s My Name?” and “Gin and Juice.” Guests on the album included Nate Dogg, Warren G., Kurupt, The Lady of Rage, The D.O.C., Tha Dogg Pound and R&B group The Dramatics.

Produced by Dr. Dre following Snoop Dogg’s own guest contributions to the former’s 1992 classic The Chronic, Doggystyle debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and topped that chart for three weeks. The later RIAA-certified multiplatinum album initially sold 803,000 copies its premiere week which, at that time, was a first-week record for a debut rap album, according to Luminate. The record stood for nearly a decade until 50 Cent’s 2003 debut studio album, Get Rich or Die Tryin’, which logged 872,000 units sold in its first week. Doggystyle was released by Death Row Records, which Snoop Dogg now owns, and Interscope Records.

Tickets for Snoop Dogg & Friends go on sale Friday, May 5, at 10 a.m. PT. Visit the Hollywood Bowl’s website for more information.
