The performance will mark Foo Fighters’ ninth time taking the SNL stage, and are fresh off the release of their 11th album, But Here We Are. The album crowned Top Alternative Albums and Top Hard Rock Albums upon its release in June, while the LP’s lead single “Rescued” commands Hot Hard Rock Songs.

The week prior, on Oct. 21, Bad Bunny will pull double duty as host and musical guest. Bad Bunny made his first appearance on SNL in April 2020 with a cameo during a pandemic-era Saturday Night Live At Home episode. He made his debut as a musical guest in February 2021 (and acted in a couple of sketches) alongside Bridgerton star Rege-Jean Page as the host. The Oct. 21 episode will mark Bad Bunny’s first time hosting.

Saturday Night Live airs on Saturdays at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBC. For those without cable, the broadcast streams on Peacock, which you can sign up for at the link here. Having a Peacock account also gives fans access to previous SNL episodes as well.

ADE 2023: Organizers Share 10 Things to Know About the Dance Industry’s Biggest Conference This Week in Amsterdam

Much of the electronic music industry is currently en route to Amsterdam, with the genre’s biggest conference, ADE, starting tomorrow (Oct. 18.) Approximately 8,000 professionals are expected to attend.

The four-day event is, as always, putting on a dizzying number of panels and adjacent events that will take over more than 100 clubs and event spaces throughout the city. ADE 2023 is again divided into Lab and Pro programming, with Lab content tailored for people trying to get into or just starting out in the industry, while Pro programming is designed for established managers, label execs, artists, streamers, marketers, promoters and more.

While the conference is “inspiring and gets everyone together,” says ADE co-organizer Meindert Kennis, “we also focus on hands-on information … In the end, that’s what a lot of professionals are coming for, and they need to take home value for themselves or their organization. We try to implement that in all the different elements of ADE to really help the industry push itself forward.”

There will be a lot of momentum to be gleaned 170 Pro sessions happening from Wednesday to Saturday. Talks on streaming, labels, social engagement, royalties and much more will be given by execs from Spotify, YouTube, Tiktok, Beatport, TuneCore and many other organizations. After dark, the industry will flex what it does best, with musical performances by 2,900 artists both rising and established happening throughout the city.

Here, ADE organizers Kennis and Jan-Willem van de Ven share key 10 things to know about ADE 2023.

1. Over the past 15 years, ADE’s musical offerings have expanded from 33 nightclubs to, in 2023, more than 200 venues. ADE doesn’t produce all of these events themselves, but facilitates promoters from around the world utilizing these spaces while throwing parties under the ADE banner.

“The concept is that we don’t program all these events ourselves,” says van de Ven. “We help facilitate individual promoters to showcase what they know and do best.”

2. As ADE has grown to feature consumer-facing events, it’s become a platform for global festival brands to test run new concepts. This week will see 35 locations around Amsterdam hosting outdoor and big tent festival-style events.

“What you see now is a lot of concepts being tried at ADE,” says van de Ven. “It’s not a DJ showcase festival anymore, but it’s more a concept showcase festival where you’ll see a lot of concepts being tried out for the first second time. But if it works at ADE, it might work for the rest of the world.

3. As with previous editions, ADE 2023 features hundreds of panels, networking sessions, drink mixers, musical performance and other adjacent programming.

“If you’re at this panel, or at a drinks thing or another event, you’re missing out on 100 other ones,” says Kennis. “That’s difficult, but that’s also the strength of it and the reason why ADE is such a thrilling event…because it’s just too much to handle. That’s why ADE means so so many different things to so many different people, and there’s something for everyone.”

4. To help guide attendees’ schedules, ADE 2023 Pro programming is organized by three tracks: strategies, opportunities and responsibilities.

“Strategies is all about the business and the value chain,” says Kennis. “Opportunities is really for future startups like A.I. adn responsibilities, is stuff like green initiatives and [industry gender equity associations like] SheSaid.So. This way, we try to at least give people the possibility of making an efficient time schedule.”

5. These Pro and Lab tracks are designed to work in tandem. Lab programming this week includes production demos, mastering social media, music rights education and much more.

“The idea behind it was to create an ecosystem that that feeds itself,” says Kennis, “so that the young people or aspiring producers and professional needs are serviced in that way that they will be a pro visitor maybe in a few years later.”

6. Not everyone who goes to Amsterdam attends the actual conference, with many people traveling to the city simply to be around so much of the industry.

“Not everyone is buying a ticket to go to a panel,” says van de Ven. “That’s our preferred situation obviously, but at the same time, having these all these people over here doing business and creating this momentum together is is really important for us. That’s our greatest value.”

7. ADE recently received official designation as a Dutch nonprofit cultural organization. For the first time ever, the conference will hold an opening night party at the city’s Rijksmuseum, where members of the electronic music community will mingle while surrounded by the works of Rembrandt, Vermeer Van Gogh and other Dutch masters.

“There are these two cultural moguls, and Rijksmuseum are one of them, and we’re on the other one,” says van de Ven. “We can create this jaw dropping momentum, if we can have several audiences together and show the world that day culture and night culture [don’t need to be separate.] It can be one and the same. It’s going to be amazing.”

8. That cultural organization classification also helps ADE define itself in the eyes of the industry.

“A lot of people think we’re a big commercial company with huge budgets that can fly in any artist in that will fit the narrative,” says Kennis. “Unfortunately, that’s not the case. The stamp of approval of being an official nonprofit cultural organization within the Netherlands kind of helps us fight the stigma that [ADE is] money-hungry, commercial activities, which is nice.”

9. With ADE musical showcases often drawing huge crowds, organizers have developed a new tool that will help attendees figure out what venues are at capacity.

This in-app feature will allow people to “look at every festival location on a map and see if there’s room for entrance,” says van de Ven, “so people aren’t going 50 minutes by Uber” to events they can’t get into. “We’ve wanted this for many years and knew we really needed to solve this issue, so this year is going to be our pilot with 40 or 50 locations.”

10. ADE 2023 is expecting many industry professionals from the U.S., which doesn’t currently have its own dance industry conference.

“There are some parts of the world that are buying more tickets than we expected,” says van de Ven. “For example, Australia’s quite big this year, and there a lot of people coming from the United States.”

Who Do You Want to See on ‘Hot Ones’ Next? Vote!

Hot Ones is heating up this season, with some of the biggest celebrities yet taking on the popular spicy wing challenge.

For those who aren’t familiar with the Hot Ones series, in each episode, host Sean Evans and a celebrity guest eat 10 chicken wings or vegan substitutes, with each wing prepared with a progressively spicier hot sauce. Meanwhile, the celebrity answers thoughtful and well-researched questions from Evans while trying to keep it cool amid the heat.

Earlier this week, Complex Media’s First We Feast accidentally led fans to believe Taylor Swift was the next person to join the show by sharing a cryptic teaser that a new Hot Ones challenge had been accepted. The caption reads, “Are you ready for it?” — which Swifties were quick to point out could be a reference to the superstar’s Reputation single “…Ready for It?”

By late Monday afternoon, the account had hidden the comments and turned off commenting, and also shared a new post with the message “we are fellow swifties too, we come in peace.”

However, fans are still hoping Swift might sit down to take on the spicy wing challenge, and there are a slew of other stars who have yet to test their taste buds. Which music star do you want to see take on the Hot Ones challenge next? Let us know by voting in our poll below.

BTS’ Suga Reveals He Had So Much ‘Anger & Rage’ Earlier in His Career, He ‘Wanted to Quit’ Music

V wasn’t the only member of BTS who struggled during the K-pop group’s earlier days — Suga dealt with his fair share of emotional lows too, he revealed on the Tuesday (Oct. 17) episode of his Suchwita drinking show.

The rapper invited Kim Jong-wan, the singer of Korean rock band NELL, onto the show. Suga explained his admiration for the band’s lyricism, and commented on how rumors of Jong-wan’s demeanor — he was called “Kim devil” in the press — mirrored some of his own behaviors.

“Whenever I listen to NELL’s music, there’s always a sense of sadness and depravity. All that is captured in the music. Of course, when I was young, I also had a lot of anger and rage — anger against the world and against the system, but as I made my mixtapes, a lot of those negative emotions got reduced,” the BTS star explained.

He continued, “During D-DAY, compared to D-2, people said a lot of that rage was gone, but I don’t think that can be helped. I don’t think I need to bring back the emotions I’ve already dealt with. Back then, I was distressed and wanted to quit, but those thoughts went away through music, so now I’m thankful for those times. It was thanks to those moments that I can do all this now.”

Suga’s persistence resulted in him continuing his solo music endeavors. The new decade has seen the rapper release this year’s D-DAY and 2020’s D-2. Kim Jong-wan features on the latter project with track “Dear My Friend,” which he revealed was a daunting one for him to record for Suga. “I was actually really scared because the guide vocals were done by Jung Kook. It sounded so good! At first, I was like … ‘How do I sing this?’” the NELL frontman recalled.

“After that, our company told me to stop using Jung Kook for the guide vocals because if I do people would feel feel pressured,” Suga replied. “I really think Jung Kook is an incredible vocalist. When I played the guide for other people, they said it had a unique feel.”

Post Malone Says Taylor Swift Told Him She Loved the Riff on ‘Better Now’: ‘That’s F—in’ Crazy’

Post Malone was in his happy place on Tuesday morning (Oct. 17), chopping it up with Howard Stern on SiriusXM, playing some of his favorite covers, rocking out with a gospel choir and revealing that pop megastar Taylor Swift is a charter member of Team Posty.

When Stern asked Malone to recall which song of his Swift praised, Malone said the kind words came during a brief encounter backstage at a radio show, where Swift said she was blown away by his Grammy-nominated Beerbongs & Bentleys No. 7 Billboard Hot 100 hit “Better Now.”

“We were just passing by and she was like, ‘Oh my God! Nice to see you. ‘Better Now’ if f—in’ amazing!’,” he said Swift told him. “And I was like, ‘What?’That’s f—in’ crazy, you’re a great f—in’ songwriter! Thank you so very much.’” The kind words felt especially good for the self-described high school outcast, who told Stern that he still can’t quite figure out why he never fit in before blowing up into one of the most-streamed acts of the modern era.

“There’s so many beautiful artists in the world and for another artist to acknowledge that is a really, really b–chin’ thing. It’s a really special thing,” Malone said of Swift’s compliment. “That was a really cool moment and it was very inspiring.”

When Stern mentioned a story that claimed Swift’s Eras Tour was so mega that she could take the proceeds and give every person in America a $20 bill, Malone couldn’t wrap his head around that altitude of fame. But having met Taylor he said he’s not surprised at her latest level-up, which also includes the $97 million first-weekend gross for the Eras tour movie.

“It’s f—in’ so cool. It’s so cool,” he said of Swift’s constantly evolving success. “I recently got to hang out with her and she is genuinely one of the most kind and considerate and a f—in’ hell of a songwriter. Holy s–t, amazing,” Malone said of Taylor, who he described as “f—in’ destroying it” while he’s just “doing the best I can.”

Stern — who has graphically described his fascination (and fantasies) about Swift’s reported relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce on his show — then, of course, reminded famously skilled Beer Pong player Malone that he once lost a suds match to Kelce that resulted in the Dallas Cowboys fan getting a KC tattoo as punishment.

Because he knows Kelce, Stern asked Malone if he approves of the reported pop star relationship, which has been breathlessly covered by the NFL during Swift’s recent appearances at a string of Kelce’s games. “Yes sir. Whenever I met him he was the sweetest dude,” Malone said of Kelce. “You never know. Nowadays you never know. You meet a lot of people in the world and what’s cool is to see people that are successful — much like Taylor and Travis and [Chiefs QB] Patrick [Mahomes] — they really give a s–t about human beings. And I think that’s pretty bad ass.”

During the chat, Malone also talked about his love of Daisy Duke short shorts — and his decision to eat healthy on tour, which resulted in his noticeable weight loss — his lonely adolescence as an outcast and his plans to build a giant compound in an undisclosed location where he and his family can rest, relax and get away from the fame machine.

Malone, a legendary Bud Light fan and spokesperson, also said that he was not interested in the right-wing freakout over trans TikTok influencer Dylan Mulvaney getting some commemorative cans from the beer maker. “I have been drinking Bud Light since I was the legal age of 21 and I’m gonna f—in’ drink a nice cold f—in’ Bud Light, man. I really don’t give a s–t, man. I just wanna do what makes me feel comfortable.”

He also stuck around to play a haunting cover of Alice in Chains’ 1992 grunge classic “Them Bones” featuring a choir, as well as his original, “Landmine,” from this year’s Austin album.

Grimes Is Convinced Taylor Swift’s the ‘Only Presidential Candidate Who Can Unite the Country’

If Taylor Swift ever decides to run for president, Grimes is ready to join her on the campaign trail.

The Canadian musician recently took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to unofficially endorse Swift as the leader of the United States’ executive branch should the pop star ever choose to run for the job. “In many ways Taylor Swift is the only presidential candidate who can unite the country,” Grimes proclaimed Tuesday (Oct. 17).

It wouldn’t be the first time a celebrity with no prior political experience stepped into the Oval Office, as the “Oblivion” singer, who shares three children with X owner Elon Musk, pointed out. “Trump v Swift is totally occurring in a parallel universe rn,” she added.

As fun as it is to imagine a White House decorated with pictures of Swift’s cats Meredith, Olivia and Benjamin, or a fleet of Secret Service bodyguards wearing Eras Tour friendship bracelets, the “Anti-Hero” singer actually isn’t logistically able to run for the top job for the next presidential election. Besides her touring commitments planned throughout 2024, law states that the U.S. president must be at least 35 years old to hold office; Swift turns 34 in December.

Still, Grimes isn’t the first person to support a Swift presidential bid. Earlier this month, The View‘s Alyssa Farah Griffin, a former communications staffer of twice-impeached former president Donald Trump, made headlines for saying that the 12-time Grammy winner could feasibly sweep America if she ever ran for commander in chief.

“To be honest, if Donald Trump looks like he’s gonna win, she’s just gonna need to get in the race and defeat him once and for all, because she’s probably the only person who can!” Griffin said during an episode of The View: Behind the Table podcast. “This ends in one way; we are all Taylor Swift fans.”

If Swift’s ability to win over Chiefs nation and NFL fans in general recently is any indication, Griffin might just be right. Ever since seemingly striking up a romance with Kansas City tight end Travis Kelce, the musician’s attendance at games has been proven to boost female viewership for the football league, and she’s become a go-to topic of conversation in sports media as of late.

Britney Spears’ Memoir Says She Had an Abortion During Justin Timberlake Relationship

Britney Spears‘ upcoming tell-all memoir, The Woman in Me, includes a shocking claim about her teenage romance with fellow Mickey Mouse Club star Justin Timberlake. The couple famously began dating in 1999, when she was 17 and the *NSYNC star was 18, just as their careers were exploding.

“It was a surprise, but for me it wasn’t a tragedy. I loved Justin so much,” she writes in the book, according to an excerpt published People, which Billboard can confirm. “I always expected us to have a family together one day. This would just be much earlier than I anticipated.”

“If it had been left up to me alone, I never would have done it,” she continues. “And yet Justin was so sure that he didn’t want to be a father.”

“To this day, it’s one of the most agonizing things I have ever experienced in my life,” she also writes of having an abortion.

Billboard has reached out to Timberlake’s rep for comment.

A series of excerpts from the book this week in People describes Spears’ life under her restrictive 13-year conservatorship, as well as the story behind her infamous head-shaving incident in 2007, and what she describes as fat-shaming at the hands of her estranged father, Jamie Spears.

Spears and Timberlake broke up 2002 and she married former back-up dancer Kevin Federline in 2004. She and Federline had two children — Sean Preston and Jayden James — before their split in 2007.

The Woman in Me arrives Oct. 24.
