In the first five weeks of 2024, Taylor Swift won two Grammy Awards (including a record-breaking fourth for album of the year, for Midnights), announced a new studio album (onstage at the Grammys!), got her ninth No. 1 on the Adult Contemporary chart with the revived Lover hit “Cruel Summer,” topped Billboard’s annual Power 100 list for the first time, and saw two of her albums surpass the 2 million U.S. sales mark: 1989 (Taylor’s Version) and Lover.

1989 (Taylor’s Version), released in 2023, jumped past the 2 million mark – counting only traditional album sales (purchases of CD, vinyl, cassette and digital download copies) – in the week ending Jan. 11, according to Luminate. Meanwhile, Lover, released in 2019, flew past the 2 million threshold in the week ending Jan. 18. They mark her ninth and 10th albums to sell at least 2 million in the U.S.

Swift’s top-selling album in the U.S. is Fearless, with 7.286 million copies sold.

Plus, on the latest Top Album Sales chart, the former No. 1 Lover locks up its 200th nonconsecutive week on the tally, as it rises 8-4 on the list dated Feb. 10. It sold 8,000 copies in the week ending Feb. 1 (the tracking week captured on the Feb. 10-dated chart) – up 21% compared to its sales in the previous week. Only two other Swift albums have spent at least 200 weeks on Top Album Sales: her self-titled album, with 286 weeks (and counting), and Fearless, with 224 weeks.

Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart ranks the top-selling albums of the week based only on traditional album sales. The chart’s history dates back to May 25, 1991, the first week Billboard began tabulating charts with electronically monitored piece count information from SoundScan, now Luminate. Pure album sales were the sole measurement utilized by the Billboard 200 albums chart through the list dated Dec. 6, 2014, after which that chart switched to a methodology that blends album sales with track equivalent album units and streaming equivalent album units. For all chart news, follow @billboard and @billboardcharts on both Twitter and Instagram.

Elsewhere on the new Top Album Sales chart, Grateful Dead score its first No. 1 as Dave’s Picks, Volume 49: Frost Amphitheatre, Stanford U., Palo Alto, CA (4/27/85 & 4/28/85) debuts atop the list. It sold 21,000 in its first week. Rock supergroup The Smile sees its new album Wall of Eyes starts at No. 2 (14,500) while Swift’s chart-topping 1989 (Taylor’s Version) is steady at No. 3 (10,000; down 9%). Green Day’s Saviors slips 1-5 in its second week with 7,000 (down 82%), while Alkaline Trio’s Blood, Hair and Eyeballs bows at No. 6 with just over 6,000. Stray Kids’ chart-topping ROCK-STAR is stationary at No. 7 with 6,000 (down 2%) and Swift’s former leader Midnights falls 5-9 with nearly 6,000 (down 13%).

Two debuts close out the top 10, as Static-X’s Project Regeneration, Volume 2 launches at No. 9 with nearly 5,000, and Future Islands’ People Who Aren’t There Anymore bows at No. 10 with 4,000.

In the week ending Feb. 1, there were 1.118 million albums sold in the U.S. (up 1.3% compared to the previous week). Of that sum, physical albums (CDs, vinyl LPs, cassettes, etc.) comprised 827,000 (up 0.5%) and digital albums comprised 291,000 (up 3.6%).

There were 404,000 CD albums sold in the week ending Feb. 1 (up 3.9% week-over-week) and 418,000 vinyl albums sold (down 2.4%). Year-to-date CD album sales stand at 2.108 million (down 31% compared to the same time frame a year ago) and year-to-date vinyl album sales total 2.413 million (down 46.4%).

Overall year-to-date album sales total 5.915 million (down 36.1% compared to the same year-to-date time frame a year ago). Year-to-date physical album sales stand at 4.545 million (down 40.2%) and digital album sales total 1.370 million (down 17.7%).

Hours after Tiësto dropped out, Kaskade — real name: Ryan Raddon — announced that he’d be subbing in, writing on X that “As a kid who grew up in Chicago watching the NFL Super Bowl every year with my family, this chance to actually be part of it is absolutely mind blowing.

Las Vegas has been my second home for the past decade, as an architect of creating a landscape that includes house and dance music residencies as part of its destination,” he continues. “To be able to be the first electronic musician to be part of the full game experience of the Super Bowl held in Las Vegas seems like coming home, and I’m beyond excited to represent my community.”

Kaskade will spin during Super Bowl 2024 game breaks, with portions of his performance to be featured during the Super Bowl LVIII broadcast on CBS this Sunday.

Upon announcing that he will no longer be playing the gig, Tiësto wrote that “Me and my team have been preparing something truly special for months, but a personal family emergency is forcing me to return home Sunday morning. It was a tough decision to miss the game, but family always comes first. Thank you to the NFL for the collaboration and looking forward to working with them to deliver something incredible together in the future!”

She captioned the post with a black heart and music notes emojis, confirming that she’s working on new music.

In June, the superstar teased that she’s working hard on numerous artistic projects, including an edit for a movie based on her 2022 headlining concert tour. “I prepared for months developing my character for Joker, I filmed [Joker: Folie à Deux] for many months (a very introspective time),” Gaga wrote in a lengthy message. “I have been running my start-up Haus Labs, doing philanthropic work, and additionally have been working on The Chromatica Ball film edit.”

The “All of Me” singer took to Instagram on Wednesday (Feb. 7) to share a video of the one-year-old cutie taking a wobbly few steps. “She’s walkin,” he captioned the post, which you can see here.

It’s been an exciting 2023 for the couple. In June, Legend and Teigen announced they welcomed their fourth child, a baby boy, via surrogate. Teigen revealed in an Instagram post that around the time she became pregnant, the couple met their surrogate, a woman named Alexandra who has since become a close friend. “Just minutes before midnight on June 19th, I got to witness the most beautiful woman, my friend, our surrogate, give birth amidst a bit of chaos, but with strength and pure joy and love,” Teigen wrote, thanking Alexandra for the “incredible gift.”

Legend told E! News that the Esti’s unique moniker was intially the brainchild of wife Chrissy Teigen, but it also has surprising roots in his family tree. “It turns out, my great-grandmother was named Esther,” he said. “It wasn’t intentionally after someone, but once Chrissy told me that idea, I was like, ‘Oh, my great-grandmother’s name was Esther.’

Kanye West & Ty Dolla $ign Release Ominous ‘Vultures (Havoc Version)’ Video Ahead of New Album

Barring any last-minute changes, volume 1 of Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign’s Vultures joint project is scheduled to arrive on Friday (Feb. 9).

The dynamic duo offered up a final appetizer Thursday (Feb. 8) with the eerie “Vultures (Havoc Version)” music video. The menacing beat differentiates from the 2023 original thanks to production from the Mobb Deep legend.

Jon Rafman serves as the director of the spooky clip, which doubles as a horror film capable of causing nightmares. Hooded ghosts are summoned for a ritual of sorts and a higher power forces natural disasters, fires and explosions all around them.

Earlier this week, Ye and Ty released another video where they twinned with their daughters and tugged on the heartstrings of fans for the “Talking/Once Again” clip.

“It’s your bestie, Miss, Miss Westie/ Don’t tryna test me/ It’s gonna get messy/ It’s gonna get messy/ Just, just bless me, bless me,” North West rhymes in her rap debut.

In January, Miss Westie and Kanye hinted at her first music video, as she suggested a treatment that included her driving a Lamborghini to Nobu Malibu and fending off paparazzi.

If all goes according to plan, Vultures will hit streaming services on Friday following the listening party for the LP back in Ye’s hometown of Chicago hosted by the United Center. The event will be livestreamed here.

After complaining he couldn’t book arenas, Long Island’s UBS Arena in New York opened its doors to West for another Vultures listening experience, which is scheduled for Friday night to celebrate the album’s hopeful arrival.

Vultures will mark the first project for West since his string of hate speech and antisemitic remarks, which resulted in companies such as Adidas and Def Jam distancing themselves from the 46-year-old rapper.

Brett Favre Says Toby Keith Stopped Chemo & Felt ‘Tired’ Before His Death

Brett Favre is recalling the days leading up to his longtime friend Toby Keith’s death.

“I think in the end he was just tired,” the former NFL quarterback told TMZ Sports of Keith, who died on Monday (Feb. 5) of stomach cancer. “He did say that to me when we had our conversation, he said, ‘Brett… whatever happens, I’m okay with it.’”

Favre noted that he would call Keith every three months to check in on him, though was told upsetting news recently. “He said, ‘I quit chemo and it probably did more damage to me than the cancer did,’” Favre recalled. “And he said, ‘I just hope I didn’t quit it too late, but… I’m thankful I got a chance to play some shows. I finished them.’”

As for remembering his pal, the Green Bay Packers star said he’ll “remember him smiling, and had everyone hooting and hollering and having a lot of fun.”

“He was the best,” he added.

The country icon —  known for anthems like “Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue (The Angry American)” and “Made in America” — died “peacefully” after a two-year battle with stomach cancer. He was “surrounded by his family,” according to a statement on his official website. “He fought his fight with grace and courage.” Keith was diagnosed with cancer in 2021 and revealed the news to fans a year later, telling them that he was undergoing chemotherapy, radiation and having surgery.

Post Malone Talks Super Bowl Pregame Performance & the Only Reason He’s Rooting for the Chiefs

It’s no surprise that superstar Post Malone loves Bud Light: “I’m the tip of the spear when it comes to consumption,” he says of the brand through an audible smirk.

Which is why it’s also no surprise that Posty will star in Bud Light’s Super Bowl commercial for his third year in a row. “Maybe it will become a tradition and we just do one every year until everyone is sick of seeing me,” he questions aloud.

“I feel very handsome in this one,” he adds, noting how this commercial feels different from his previous two. “I’m going for a Clooney vibe. You know, Clooney is a little older, but he’s still a total stud. And I think, hopefully God willing, that’s what happens to me. Because I’ve been such an awkward looking dude forever, so maybe I’ll get the Clooney effect. Maybe it’ll be me and Clooney for the next Bud Light ad.”

And yet, he jokes that the team behind the commercial wouldn’t let him in their creative meetings. “They said my ideas were too epic,” he recalls.

He’s not wrong. When speaking of his long-standing fandom of the brand, another idea rolls right out: the beer blankie.

“I remember at the legal age of 21 I enjoyed [my first Bud Light] and I was like, ‘You know what? This is my deal. It makes me feel comfortable.’ And ever since then, it’s been kinda like my beer blankie. I still have my blankie, too. So it’s kinda like that … Me and Clooney with a beer blankie – that’s the next commercial.”

Despite being a Bud Light commercial veteran at this point, Post will also experience a major first during Super Bowl weekend: attending the big game. Post is one of three pregame performers, along with Reba McEntire and Andra Day, who will be singing the national anthem and “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” respectively.

As for Posty, he’ll be tackling “America the Beautiful.” And while he’s never performed the song publicly before, he reveals, “I sing it all the time, like, randomly in my most patriotic moments. It’s a song that’s always in the back of my head, and if I’m playing games or just walking around, I’ll sing it at the top of my lungs. So I’m very excited – and I’m definitely 100 percent not nervous at all to sing it in front of millions of people at the Super Bowl.”

He says he and longtime collaborator Louis Bell, along with others, have been making tweaks to how he will perform the classic, saying fans can expect a bit of country twang. “I’m just gonna sing my heart out the best I can and give America – no matter how s—-y it is – the love [this song] deserves.”

And while his beloved Dallas Cowboys will not be competing on Super Bowl Sunday, Post plans to represent them by wearing a “beautiful vintage bomber jacket signed by Tom Landry [the Cowboys’ first head coach]. I won’t be the only one there in a Cowboy’s jersey – because we know who’s supposed to be there. We got it next year.”

Until then, if he had to pick, he says he’ll be rooting for the Kansas City Chiefs – only because he has a KC tattoo – “not for any other reason … Pat [Mahomes] and Travis [Kelce], they’re great guys. A lot of great guys on both teams. But everyone in America knows who’s supposed to be there.”

In June 2023, Landon got a tattoo of D’Amelio’s eye, before she appeared in his “Friends With Your Ex” music video in September. He previously told Billboard that the song is “about falling in love with somebody you’re not supposed to but still seeing things through and having a good outcome.”

Looking forward, Landon told Billboard that he’s working on new music. “Honestly it’s amazing, and especially all the stuff that I have saved up for everybody and the stuff in the vault … I’m glad I got this one out, but I’m excited to share so much,” he shared.

D’Amelio, meanwhile, is working hard on her fashion brand, Social Tourist, which she shares with sister Dixie, and stars alongside her family in the Hulu reality series, The D’Amelio Show.
