All Four Members of BLACKPINK Have Now Hit the Hot 100 as Soloists, Thanks to JISOO’s New Duet

All four members of BLACKPINK have now charted songs as soloists on the Billboard Hot 100, as JISOO completes the sweep on the latest, Oct. 25-dated chart.

JISOO and ZAYN’s “Eyes Closed,” released Oct. 10 via Bissoo/Warner Records, debuts at No. 72 on the Hot 100 thanks to 5.8 million official U.S. streams, 225,000 in radio airplay audience and 2,000 sold through Oct. 16, according to Luminate.

JISOO joins fellow BLACKPINK members ROSÉ, LISA and JENNIE in having charted solo hits on the Hot 100. BLACKPINK is now the first all-female K-pop group to have all its members reach the Hot 100 individually.

BLACKPINK has made history on Billboard’s charts. Upon its debut in 2018, “DDU-DU DDU-DU” became the highest-charting Hot 100 hit by an all-female K-pop group — a record later surpassed by the group’s “Ice Cream” (No. 13). The act also became the first K-pop girl group to top the Billboard 200, with Born Pink in 2022.

With all four members now boasting solo Hot 100 hits, BLACKPINK joins an elite lineage of groups of four or more members who have all scored solo entries on the chart. Others on the list:

Ice Cube Bites Back at Critic of New Song ‘Act My Age’: ‘You’ve Obviously Lost Your Sense of Humor’

Ice Cube took some time to fire back at a critic of his new song, “Act My Age,” and said the troll should get a sense of humor.

Cube dropped off the music video for his “Act My Age” song with Scarface on Oct. 15, and one viral post on X noted that the track is “a prime example of why, as a rapper, you just gotta know when it’s time to hang the mic up.”

“I would never listen to you and hang up my mic,” Cube wrote in response on Monday (Oct. 20). “You’ve obviously lost your sense of humor. You need to go find it and stay out of my business.”

The song actually deals with this very topic, with Cube saying at the beginning of the track: “If you’re over 35 and still rapping, keep rapping, my boy. F—k all of that, ‘Oh, I’m getting old’ s—t. No, we need y’all, we need y’all to save music. We need the real lyricists back.”

The song originally appeared on Cube’s latest album, Man Up, which dropped on Sept. 12.

“I’ve always stood on speaking truth to power and making music that reflects reality,” Cube said in a statement. “Man Up is about accountability, resilience and reminding people where the real problems come from. Hip-hop didn’t create the struggle — it gave us the language to call it out.”

Billboard had previously talked with Cube in 2024, when he teased Man Up and said he was inspired by America’s alleged softness. “It’s about men not accepting nonsense and speaking up, and not just taking a backseat, letting other people take the lead,” he said at the time. “We gotta take the lead.”

Cavin Yarbrough, Half of R&B Duo Yarbrough & Peoples, Dies at 72

Cavin Yarbrough, half of the 1980s R&B duo Yarbrough & Peoples, has died at the age of 72.

The singer-musician-producer passed away on Thursday (June 19) owing to complications from heart disease. “He was the love of my life, my protector. Now he’s my guardian angel,” Yarbrough’s wife and longtime music partner, Alisa Peoples, said in a statement.

Yarbrough & Peoples is best known for their crossover dance/funk hit “Don’t Stop the Music.” Released in 1980, the song spent five weeks at No. 1 R&B and also reached No. 19 on the Hot 100. The RIAA gold-certified single was featured on the pair’s also gold-certified debut album The Two of Us. The album also reached No. 1 on Billboard’s R&B chart and No. 6 pop.

The duo went on to score another R&B No. 1 single with “Don’t Waste Your Time” in 1984. Their engaging mix of R&B, soul, funk, pop and dance — graced by their smooth and spirited vocals — also sparked three additional R&B top 10s during the pair’s ’80s heyday: “Heartbeats,” “Guilty” and “I Wouldn’t Lie.”

Born in Dallas, Yarbrough was a classically trained pianist who first met fellow Dallas native Peoples as youngsters taking piano lessons. The pair’s friendship and creative bond later led to establishing their own band. It was Charlie Wilson of The Gap Band who discovered Yarbrough & Peoples. He brought them to the attention of Lonnie Simmons, who signed them to his Los Angeles-based label, Total Experience Records.

“Cavin was not only an extraordinary talent, but a kind man with a great heart,” said longtime friend Michele Elyzabeth, who also served as Yarbrough & Peoples’ PR representative for more than 40 years. “His legacy will live on in the music, in our memories and in the hearts of everyone who knew him.”

Pete Townshend Speaks Out About The Who’s Split With Zak Starkey: ‘I Have to Be Careful What I Say’

Pete Townshend has a simple description of The Who’s turbulent split with longtime drummer Zak Starkey: “It’s a mess.”

In a new interview with i Paper, the legendary guitarist and songwriter opened up about the chaotic sequence of events earlier this year involving Starkey’s firing, rehiring and eventual departure. Starkey, a veteran session and touring drummer, had been part of The Who’s lineup for nearly 30 years.

“I will miss Zak terribly. But quite what the story is, I don’t f—king know. I really don’t know,” Townsend admitted.

The confusion began in April when Townshend and The Who frontman Roger Daltrey made a “collective decision” to part ways with Starkey, who is the son of Beatles drummer Ringo Starr. Days later, Townshend reversed course, stating Starkey was “not being asked” to step down. But just a month later, Townshend again changed his stance, saying, “The time has come for a change,” signaling the end of their long-running collaboration.

Shortly after, Starkey offered his own version of events, claiming he hadn’t been “fired” but had instead “retired to work [on] my own projects” ahead of The Who’s The Song Is Over farewell tour.

The fallout appears to have been sparked by a misstep during the band’s charity performances for the Teenage Cancer Trust at London’s Royal Albert Hall in March.

“[Daltrey] came in four bars early,” Starkey told Rolling Stone in June. “But he just got lost. He blamed it on the drums being too loud, and then it got made into this huge social media thing.”

In his interview with i Paper, Townshend addressed the same performance.

“I couldn’t see anything wrong. What you see is a band who haven’t played together for a long time. But I think it was probably to do with the sound. I’ve lost my sound man as a result,” the iconic musician said.

He continued, “I think Roger just got lost. Roger’s finding it difficult. I have to be careful what I say about Roger because he gets angry if I say anything about him at all. He’ll be sacking me next. But that’s not to say that he sacked Zak. It’s a decision Roger and I tried to make together, but it kind of got out of hand.”

Despite the turmoil, Starkey says he would return to The Who if asked.

“Of course I would,” he told Rolling Stone. “I said to Pete, ‘Thirty years. In the 30 years, you put the bar so f—kin’ high. What the f—k do I do now?,’” he said. “The Who, you just don’t know what’s going to happen. If you think something is going to happen, the opposite happens. If you second guess Pete, he will play the opposite. You have to go with whatever you’re doing, and not think.”

Morgan Wallen Walks Out With Drake & Baseball Legend Roger Clemens at Second Houston Stadium Show

Morgan Wallen didn’t disappoint fans on the second night of his I’m the Problem tour stop in Houston on Saturday (June 21).

After kicking off the weekend with a surprise appearance by NFL legend Andre Johnson and Houston businessman Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale on Friday at NRG Stadium, the 32-year-old country star had more star power in store for night two.

Continuing what has become a signature grand entrance at his shows, Wallen took the stage accompanied by rap superstar Drake and baseball great Roger Clemens at the home of the Houston Texans. Dressed in a black Kid Rock T-shirt, Wallen walked out flanked by Drake and Clemens as the singer’s “Broadway Girls,” featuring Lil Durk, played in the background.

The moment was captured on video and displayed on the stadium’s jumbotron, showing Clemens handing Wallen a custom baseball jersey while a denim-clad Drake appeared to take a swig from a flask.

Morgan also shared the walkout moment on Instagram, set to Drake’s 2011 track “Under Ground Kings.” “All summer long,” he captioned the post. Diplo took to the comments, writing, “Man can’t be stopped.”

This isn’t the first time Wallen and Drake have teamed up. In 2023, the Toronto MC featured the “Last Night” singer in the opening scene of his “You Broke My Heart” music video. The track was featured on the “Scary Hours” edition of Drake’s For All the Dogs album.

Wallen’s dramatic walkout moments at NRG Stadium have become a hallmark of his live shows, with past surprise guests including Travis Kelce, Troy Aikman, Peyton Manning and Tom Brady.

The back-to-back concerts in Houston launched Wallen’s 20-date I’m the Problem tour, which runs through Sept. 13 and hits 10 cities across the U.S. His next stop is a two-night run at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison, Wisc., on June 28–29. The tour features an all-star lineup of supporting acts, including Koe Wetzel, Miranda Lambert, Brooks & Dunn, Ella Langley, Gavin Adcock and Thomas Rhett.

The trek supports Wallen’s blockbuster fourth studio album, I’m the Problem, which has held the top spot on the Billboard 200 for four consecutive weeks since its release on May 16.

Sabrina Carpenter, SZA, Ariana Grande Win Multiple Awards at 2025 Kids’ Choice Awards (Full Winners List)

Sabrina Carpenter was the top winner at the 2025 Kids’ Choice Awards, winning three of the show’s signature Orange Blimp trophies: favorite female breakout artist, favorite album for Short n’ Sweet and favorite song for “Taste.” Carpenter’s album, which topped the Billboard 200 for four weeks, won the Grammy for best pop vocal album. “Taste,” a fairly risqué song by Kids’ Choice standards, reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Tyla hosted the show, which aired live on Saturday, June 21 at 8 p.m. (ET/PT) from Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, Calif. Tyla led a dance celebration featuring the hottest songs of the summer and closed out the show with a centerstage sliming (the show’s most popular gimmick). She also won favorite global music star.

Rihanna became the first recipient of the ICON Silver Blimp Award, honored for her contributions to entertainment, beauty and activism. She accepted the Blimp from inside the magical Smurf Village, before unleashing a tidal wave of blue slime on the audience. 

SZA, Ariana Grande and Jack Black were all double winners on the night. SZA won favorite female artist and favorite music collaboration for “Luther,” her smash collab with Kendrick Lamar which topped the Hot 100 for 13 weeks. (It goes without saying that the target audience for this show wasn’t even born when Luther Vandross died in 2005.)

Grande won favorite movie actress for playing Glinda in Wicked and favorite song from a movie for backing Cynthia Erivo on “Defying Gravity” from that blockbuster musical, which also won favorite movie.

Black won favorite movie actor for playing Steve in A Minecraft Movie and also received the special King of Comedy award. The latter award was presented by his Nacho Libre co-stars Ana de la Reguera and Héctor Jiménez.

Bruno Mars won favorite male artist. Stray Kids won favorite music group. These were the first wins for Mars, Stray Kids and SZA.

Benson Boone won favorite male breakout artist. Selena Gomez and benny blanco won favorite viral song for “Bluest Flame.”

There were two musical performances: “cliché,” by mgk, from his upcoming seventh studio album, Lost Americana, introduced by his daughter, Casie Baker, and “Gnarly,” by KATSEYE, from their upcoming second EP, Beautiful Chaos, introduced by Ice Spice. Both performances culminated in slimings.

The show also featured celebrity appearances by Malia Baker, benny blanco, Kylie Cantrall, Auli’i Cravalho, Terry Crews, Young Dylan, Brie Garcia, Maia Kealoha, Salish Matter, Kel Mitchell, Daniella Monet, Renee Montgomery, Victoria Monét, Leon Thomas, Alex Warren and more.

Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards 2025 will encore on Sunday, June 22, at 9 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Nickelodeon; Monday, June 23, at 8 p.m. on Nicktoons, and Tuesday, June 24, at 9:10 a.m. on TeenNick. (All times are ET/PT.) The show will also be available to stream on Paramount+ on Sunday, June 22.

Dua Lipa Brings Surprise Guest Charli XCX to the Stage for ‘360’ in London

Brat Summer lived on at Wembley Stadium, where Dua Lipa welcomed Charli XCX to the stage for “360” Saturday night (June 21) at her second Wembley Stadium gig on the Radical Optimism Tour.

The “Houdini” singer had the London stage lights set to neon green with Charli taking center beside her, fan-captured video from the concert shows.

“I thought I’d bring a friend out,” Dua Lipa teased the crowd on Saturday before the pair performed 2024’s Brat album opener together. “Let me tell you, she is the biggest brat I have ever known.”

Charli’s appearance at Wembley night two follows a surprise on night one from Jamiroquai, who joined DuaLipa on Friday for a live rendition of “Virtual Insanity,” the English act’s breakthrough single that earned a Grammy for best pop vocal performance by a duo a group in 1998, and a video of the year award at the MTV VMAs the year prior. At Friday’s show, Dua Lipa told that crowd she’d invited someone who’d “really inspired me from the moment that I started making music” and has “been a trailblazer for British music.”

The two-night residency marked Dua Lipa’s first time headlining Wembley, a 90,000-capacity venue.

The two sold-out concerts were made even more momentous for the British-Albanian pop star by a good-luck letter from the Spice Girls.

“Dear Dua,” read the card, which the singer shared in an Instagram slideshow, “We just wanted to wish you lots of luck with your sold out shows at Wembley Stadium … that’s Girl Power!! We love you! The Spice Girls xxxxx.”

Dua Lipa — whose Radical Optimism debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 upon its release in May — next performs in Liverpool, headlining Anfield Stadium for two nights (June 24-25), and then Dublin for one night at Aviva Stadium (June 27). The Radical Optimism Tour will make it to North America with an arena run beginning in September.

Suga Writes Letter to Fans, Marking End of Mandatory Military Service for BTS

Suga, rapper and songwriter in the global K-pop sensation BTS, is discharged from South Korea’s mandatory military service as of Saturday (June 21), marking the official return of all seven members from their enlistment duties.

The group’s representatives, BIG Hit, confirmed on Wednesday that Suga was nearing completion of his service duties after using up his remaining leave. His official discharge date is Saturday.

BIG Hit had said earlier that no events were planned for Suga’s release out of concern for overcrowding.

It is a momentous occasion for fans of BTS, known as BTS ARMY. The seven singers of the superstar K-pop band plan to reunite as a group sometime in 2025 now that they’ve finished their service.

Last week, BTS members RM and V were discharged from South Korea’s military after fulfilling their mandatory service. Jimin and Jung Kook were discharged a day later. All four were enlisted in December 2023.

Jin, the oldest BTS member, was discharged in June 2024. J-Hope was discharged in October.

Six of the group’s seven members served in the army, while Suga fulfilled his duty as a social service agent, an alternative form of military service, due to a prior shoulder injury.

In South Korea, all able-bodied men aged 18 to 28 are required by law to perform 18-21 months of military service under a conscription system meant to deter aggression from rival North Korea.

The law gives special exemptions to athletes, classical and traditional musicians, and ballet and other dancers if they have obtained top prizes in certain competitions and are assessed to have enhanced national prestige. K-pop stars and other entertainers aren’t subject to such privileges.

However, in 2020, BTS postponed their service until age 30 after South Korea’s National Assembly revised its Military Service Act, allowing K-pop stars to delay their enlistment until 30.

There was heated public debate in 2022 over whether to offer special exemptions of mandatory military service for BTS’ members, until the group’s management agency announced in October 2022 that all seven members would fulfill their duties.

On Saturday, Suga wrote to BTS ARMY directly in a letter addressed to fans posted on Weverse, HYBE’s social media/fandom platform.

Noting that he’s missed his fans and that he’s been thinking about how he’d reconnect with them, Suga reflected on BTS’ two-year hiatus. “I think I had two years to think about myself,” he wrote, in part, saying he’d “been running forward, but this time has been an opportunity to look back on myself.”

“Dear ARMY, thank you for your patience and thank you very much. And I’m sorry for making you disappointed and worried about what happened last year. Above all, it was so upsetting that it hurt the fans’ hearts. I felt sorry for the members who must have felt heavy in their seats because of me,” wrote Suga, presumably in reference to an incident in 2024 in which he faced license suspension and fines for driving an electric scooter while intoxicated. At the time, Suga apologized to “everyone who was hurt by [his] careless and wrong actions,” and later said, “It’s all my fault. My carelessness is giving everyone who cares about me a hard time. I will try not to do anything wrong again and live with repentance.”

In his letter on Saturday, Suga wrote, “In the future, we will try our best to repay the love you have given us. I love you.”

Patrick Walden, Former Babyshambles Guitarist, Dies at 46

Patrick Walden, former guitarist for the British rock band Babyshambles, has died at the age of 46.

The band, fronted by Pete Doherty, announced Walden’s passing in a social media post on Friday (June 20). A cause of death was not disclosed.

“It is with deep regret and sadness that we share the news of Patrick Walden’s death,” the band wrote on Instagram. “We feel very fortunate to have known/loved and worked with him and we kindly ask for respect and privacy during these difficult times.”

The statement was signed by Doherty and fellow band members Mick Whitnall, Drew McConnell and Adam Ficek.

Babyshambles was formed in 2003 by Doherty after his departure from The Libertines due to substance abuse issues. Walden, a London native, joined as lead guitarist, alongside McConnell on bass and Gemma Clarke on drums.

In addition to his guitar work, Walden co-wrote several songs on Babyshambles’ 2005 debut album, Down in Albion, including “Pipedown,” “Loyalty Song” and “F—k Forever,” which peaked at No. 4 on the Official U.K. Singles Chart.

Before joining Babyshambles, Walden played in various bands including Fluid, the Six Cold Thousand and the White Sport. His time with Babyshambles was brief, ending in 2005 amid struggles with drug addiction and a legal case involving his girlfriend that resulted in a brief jail sentence. The charges were later dropped.

Walden was replaced by Whitnall for the band’s sophomore album, Shotter’s Nation, which dropped in 2007. Though he never officially rejoined the group, Walden occasionally performed with Babyshambles at select shows over the years. The band has reunited sporadically during Doherty’s solo performances.

Doherty had previously hinted at a potential reunion tour to mark the 20th anniversary of Down in Albion, though it was unclear whether Walden was expected to be involved.

“It is on the cards,” Doherty told NME in December 2024. “We will get back together and get in a room with the instruments and play through the old songs, then get on stage and do it. But it’s the ‘who’ and the ‘when’ that needs to be worked out. I think we’ll just keep that one on the horizon and deal with that one next year. Before then, I’ve got a new collection of songs which I’m putting out on my own label, which is tidy.”
