Shawn Mendes, Benson Boone, RAYE, Teddy Swims and the Mexican-born sister trio The Warning are set to perform at the 2024 MTV EMAs. The show is set to be broadcast live on Nov. 10 from Co-op Live in Manchester, U.K.
Four of those artists – Boone, RAYE, Swims and The Warning – are also vying for Grammy nominations for best new artist. RAYE swept the Brit Awards on March 2. Boone won best alternative at the MTV VMAs on Sept. 11.

In addition, Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale and screen stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jodie Turner-Smith and Lucien Laviscount will take the stage as presenters. Ten of the 11 artists with the most nominations for the 2024 MTV EMAs are women. The only man who cracked the leaderboard is Kendrick Lamar, with four nods.

Taylor Swift leads with seven nods, including best artist, best video, best pop and biggest fans. Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, Charli XCX and Sabrina Carpenter each scored five nominations. Closely following with four nods each are Ayra Starr, Beyoncé, Lamar, LISA, plus first-time nominees Chappell Roan and Tyla.

Fans can vote for their favorites on the EMAs website from now until 00:00 CET on Nov. 6.

The 2024 MTV EMAs will broadcast at 9 p.m. GMT Sunday, Nov. 10, on MTV UK, Channel 5 and Pluto TV, and will be available on demand on Paramount+ from Nov. 12. Tickets will be on sale at a later date.

Bruce Gillmer and Richard Godfrey are executive producers for the 2024 MTV EMAs. Debbie Phillips and Chloe Mason are producers.

This will be the eighth time the EMAs have been held in the U.K. Last year’s ceremony was set for Nov. 5 in Paris, but was canceled two weeks before the show due to the Israel–Hamas war, becoming the first EMAs to be canceled in its 30-year history.

We all know that women have been dominating the music scene in the past year, but get this: 10 of the 11 artists with the most nominations for the 2024 MTV EMAs are women. The only man who cracked the leaderboard is Kendrick Lamar, with four nods.

MTV pulled the plug on the 2023 MTV EMA Awards on Oct. 19, just over two weeks before the show was set to be staged in Paris. The network attributed their decision to the “volatility of world events.” But on Sunday (Nov. 5), which would have been the EMAs date, MTV released the winners list, saying, “as fans worldwide voted for their favorite categories including best artist, best song and more, MTV is recognizing the following artists with 2023 MTV EMAs.”
Taylor Swift was the big winner, with three awards – best artist, best live and best video for “Anti-Hero.” Surprisingly, the award for best US act eluded her. That went to Nicki Minaj, who also won best hip-hop.

Jung Kook and Måneskin were also double winners. Jung Kook won best K-pop and best song for “Seven” (featuring Latto). Måneskin won best rock and best Italian act.

Rema was the winner in the newly-added best Afrobeats category.

David Guetta, who was born in Paris, the intended site of this year’s show, won best electronic.

This year’s event was to have been broadcast live to more than 150 countries from the Paris Nord. It would have marked the first time the ceremony has been held in the City of Light since 1995.

This marked the first time the MTV EMA Awards have been canceled since it was launched in 1994. Even during the pandemic, the show went on as scheduled.

MTV released the following statement on Oct. 19: “Given the volatility of world events, we have decided not to move forward with the 2023 MTV EMAs out of an abundance of caution for the thousands of employees, crew members, artists, fans and partners who travel from all corners of the world to bring the show to life. The MTV EMAs are an annual celebration of global music. As we watch the devastating events in Israel and Gaza continue to unfold, this does not feel like a moment for a global celebration. With thousands of lives already lost, it is a moment of mourning. Voting is continuing and the winning artists will receive their MTV EMA Awards. We look forward to hosting the MTV EMAs again in November of 2024.”

Here’s the complete list of 2023 MTV EMA nominees, with winners marked. The winners for biggest fans and best group had not been identified at the time of publication.

Jung Kook, The Kid LAROI, Sabrina Carpenter, Coi Leray and Rema are among the artists set to perform live at the 2023 MTV EMAs.
The show will broadcast live on MTV in more than 150 countries on Sunday Nov. 5 from Paris Nord Villepinte, in addition to being available in multiple international territories on Pluto TV, and on demand on Paramount+.

Other performers set to perform on the show are Anne-Marie, David Guetta, Manuel Turizo, Ozuna, Reneé Rapp and Thirty Seconds to Mars.

Most of these artists are also nominees this year. Jung Kook, whose “Seven” (featuring Latto) reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, and Rema, whose “Calm Down” (with Selena Gomez) reached No. 3, are each up for three awards. Jung Kook is nominated for best song, best K-Pop and biggest fans. Rema is nominated for best song, best collaboration and best Afrobeats.

Jung Kook has performed on the EMAs as a member of BTS, but this will be his first solo performance on the show. These will also be the first EMAs performances by Leray, Turizo, Ozuna, Rema, Rapp, Carpenter and The Kid LAROI.

Thirty Seconds to Mars have won nine EMAs, more than any of this year’s other performers. Guetta, who was born in Paris, the site of this year’s show, has won six.

Also set to appear on the MTV EMA stage as presenters are: former Little Mix member and now solo star Leigh-Anne; actresses Lily Collins and Ashley Park; Fab Morvan of Milli Vanilli, the subject of an eponymous Paramount+ documentary; viral rap star and best push nominee Kaliii; best Nordic act nominee Loreen; and British breakthrough singer and best collaboration, best new and best UK & Ireland act nominee PinkPantheress.

Fans can vote for their favorite artists across MTV EMA categories — including best song, best artist, best collaboration and best Afrobeats — at mtvema.com until Oct. 31, at 11:59pm CET. Biggest fans and best group winners will be voted on at a later date via @MTVEMA on social media.

Bruce Gillmer and Richard Godfrey are executive producers for the 2023 MTV EMAs. Debbie Phillips and Chloe Mason are producers. The 2023 MTV EMAs is sponsored by Dolby and Paramount+.
