Michelle Obama

HipHopWired Featured Video

Michelle Obama, the former First Lady of the United States, knows a bit about how media will dissect a political figure’s every move and she used that firsthand knowledge to great effect. During a rally in support of Vice President Kamala Harris, Michelle Obama took shots at Harris’ opponent Donald Trump, and slammed the media’s nitpicking of the Democratic Party hopeful’s interviews in comparison to the former president.
Michelle Obama was in Kalamazoo, Mich. over the weekend at a rally for Harris and she was very clear in calling out Trump for what she framed as “gross incompetence” while Harris is expected to “dazzle” each time she’s made media appearances and during interviews.

From the speech:

So I hope you’ll forgive me if I’m a little frustrated that some of us are choosing to ignore Donald Trump’s gross incompetence while asking Kamala to dazzle us at every turn. I hope that you’ll forgive me if I’m a little angry that we are indifferent to his erratic behavior, his obvious mental decline, his history as a convicted felon, a known slumlord, a predator found liable for sexual abuse, all of this, while we pick apart Kamala’s answers from interviews that he doesn’t even have the courage to do, y’all.
To Obama’s point, Trump has elected to duck certain media appearances and debates in favor of rallies, such as the racially charged event in New York over the weekend that featured a parade of speakers spewing racist rhetoric against Puerto Ricans and Black Americans.
Harris has been under harsher lights and every gaffe is highlighted and magnified to a degree we haven’t truly seen with Trump’s campaign. No matter which side of the political aisle one stands, the difference in coverage is stark.

Michelle Obama spoke before the Democratic National Convention on its second night, moving the audience and social media users watching.Former First Lady Michelle Obama took the stage to address the audience in support of the Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris, and social media was inspired and moved by her words. Mrs. Obama took the stage as part of the trio of headliners closing out the second night of the convention, dressed in an impeccable navy blue dress as she came on after Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff. She was greeted with a huge standing ovation by the crowd. “OK! We’ve got a big night ahead!”, Obama said, telling them that it was the first time that she had been back in her native Chicago since her mother passed away. “I was not even sure if I would be steady enough to stand before you, but my heart compelled me to be here because of the sense of duty I feel to honor her memory. And to remind us all not to squander the sacrifices our elders made to give us a better future.”

“Something wonderfully magical is in the air, isn’t it?”, Obama asked before continuing: “A familiar feeling that’s been buried for far too long…the contagious power of hope!” The crowd would be rapturous with applause as she touted the attributes of Vice President Harris, imploring the crowd to join her in a call-and-response to support Harris by organizing and voting with the words “Do something!”  The former First Lady would also speak about Harris’ commonalities with the American people, especially Black people and other people of color. “She understands that most of us will never be afforded the grace of failing forward. We will never benefit from the affirmative action of generational wealth.”
Mrs. Obama also took time to knock Republican nominee and former President Donald Trump for his series of attacks on the vice president, referencing his chaotic NABJ appearance last month. “Who is going to tell him the job he is currently seeking might just be one of those black jobs?” she quipped. Social media users were enthralled by her words, with many noting her jabs at Trump and marveling over her poise. “Michelle Obama is literally Beyoncé, and I can’t explain it,” wrote one social media user Jasmyn in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

Former President Barack Obama officially endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris to be the Democratic nominee for president, and social media exploded with the news.On Friday morning (July 26), former President Barack Obama officially endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris to be the Democratic nominee for president this November. The news set the Internet ablaze, as social media users chimed in with their responses. The 44th president posted a video to X, formerly Twitter which captured him and former First Lady Michelle Obama calling Harris (decked out in a tan pantsuit no less) after her speech in Indianapolis to members of the historically Black sorority Zeta Phi Beta on Wednesday (July 24). In the video, Harris responded joyfully, “Thank you both! It means so much. And, and we’re going to have some fun with this, too, aren’t we?”

“Earlier this week, Michelle and I called our friend @KamalaHarris,” Obama wrote in the post. “We told her we think she’ll make a fantastic President of the United States, and that she has our full support. At this critical moment for our country, we’re going to do everything we can to make sure she wins in November. We hope you’ll join us.” He and Michelle Obama also released a joint statement designed to fundraise for Harris’ campaign publicly, writing: “There is no doubt in our mind that Kamala Harris has exactly what it takes to win this election and deliver for the American people.”

The endorsement by Barack Obama comes after a few days of speculation as to why he hadn’t issued it before when President Joe Biden announced he wasn’t going to seek re-election on Sunday. Some Trump supporters were dismissive of the Obamas’ endorsement. “Posting your ‘Support’ for Kamala really late/early hoping nobody would see,” a Marjorie Taylor Green fan account posted, adding “Looks like Obama was able to get Kamala to agree to be his puppet.” Others were wildly supportive, remarking how the former president was savvy in making his endorsement – the two have been close since his campaign run in 2007. They also chided early stories claiming that he wasn’t supportive of the vice president’s campaign.

In a recent interview, Ye aka Kanye West confessed that Michelle Obama is the woman he’d want to have a threesome with along with Bianca Censori.

Kanye West is turning heads again, this time, declaring that he’d want a threesome with his wife Bianca Censori and former First Lady Michelle Obama. During his recent interview with podcaster Justin Laboy on Monday (April 22), Laboy asked the artist: “You, your woman, one other person y’all gonna have a threesome with? Anyone in the world, there’s just one person.” Ye seemed to mull the question seriously.

“I think I know what you’re thinking, but I’m not gonna even say any names. I just want to see what you think,” Laboy continued until Ye blurted out, “Michelle Obama.” Both fell out into laughter at the outlandish statement, with the Vultures rapper adding, “Gotta f*** the President’s wife!” Laboy ended the segment by saying, “There’s the answer. I don’t think that’s the legit answer, but there you have it.”
The naming of Michelle Obama might be inspired by Ye’s own animosity toward former President Barack Obama, which has developed within the past few years. The two were once cordial, having shared roots in the city of Chicago, Illinois, but Kanye’s infamous outburst at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards interrupting Taylor Swift led the former POTUS to remark, “he’s a jacka—“ during a break in filming a CNBC interview. Obama would reiterate the statement in an interview with The Atlantic in 2012, adding: “Although I like Kanye. He’s a Chicago guy. Smart. He’s very talented.”
For his part, Ye had seemed to be willing not to take offense to those statements, but after Donald Trump won the presidential election in 2016, he soured publicly on Obama while declaring his support for Trump, even stating in an interview with Charlamagne tha God that he felt he deserved a public apology. In an interview with former Fox News host Tucker Carlson in 2022, Ye stated that his “bond” with Obama had faded when he went away from what he “was supposed to say as a rapper.”
