Sinners, a new film from director Ryan Coogler and starring Michael B. Jordan in a lead role, was released to the wider public this week, and the early returns are in. On X, many are praising Coogler and Jordan for delivering a wild, western movie-inspired vampire romp.
Sinners takes place in the 1930s in the Southern United States and features Michael B. Jordan as twin brothers Elijah “Smoke” Moore and Elias “Stack” Moore. Delroy Lindo, Wunmi Mosaku, Buddy Guy, Saul Williams, and Omar Benson Miller also star in the film.

The plot follows the Moore brothers as they return home to Mississippi after living in Chicago, attempting to change their former ways. The brothers, realizing the North was just as racist as the South, steal money from some Chicago gangsters and head back home to open up a juke joint. However, arriving back home, they encounter a growing evil in the form of vampires in their hometown.
Jordan has received kudos for pulling double duty as Smoke and Stack. The film also touches on some of the racial tension of the times with Hailee Steinfeld playing the role of Stack’s love interest, Mary, who is passing for a white woman despite being part Black. Also, there is heavy emphasis on music in the film, in particular the Blues, and how it plays into the overall narrative is cleverly done.
On X, fans, including LeBron James and LeVar Burton, are saying that Sinners delivers the big-screen thrills, stating that Ryan Coogler has yet again delivered some movie magic. Of course, there are requisite criticisms, and we’ll try to share comments from all sides below.
Sinners is in theaters now. Learn more here.

One thing you can always count on with a Ryan Coogler film is a fire soundtrack, and it looks like that streak will continue with the official soundtrack for his upcoming vampire flick, Sinners, starring Michael B. Jordan.

While the blood will be spilling, the toes will be tapping. The highly anticipated horror flick’s official soundtrack will feature some big names while sticking to the film’s core theme.

Coogler loves to collaborate with those he is familiar with, which is why he and Michael B. Jordan have become one of Hollywood’s most successful duos. So it should come as no surprise that he is working once again with Ludwig Görranson.

Ludwig Görranson has provided exceptional soundtracks for Coogler’s other successful movie franchises like Creed and Black Panther, so it’s not a stretch of any kind to think that won’t be the case for Sinners.

Ludwig Görranson Reveals Working On Sinners‘ Score & Soundtrack Was Personal To Him

Coogler’s vampire movie takes place in the Jim Crow era South, so you can expect Görranson’s production to reflect that in the songs on the soundtrack, which he revealed working on was very personal to him.

“I never imagined I’d score a film about a guitar player — it hits close to home,” said Göransson. “My dad, a guitar teacher at the local school and a die-hard blues fanatic, put a guitar in my hands when I was six. If it were up to him, I’d be named Albert for Albert King, the legendary guitarist. The ore I composed for Sinners is the most personal of my career. It’s reflection of my own musical journey, told through the voice of the instrument that means the most to me. I per orm it on a 1932 Dobro Cyclops resonator—the very same guitar that Preacherboy Sammie carries throughout the film.”

The soundtrack features songs from Rod Wave, James Blake, Don Toliver, Brittany Howard, Raphael Saadiq, Buddy Guy, Rhiannon Giddens, Cedric Burnside, Eric Gales, Christone “Kingfish” Ingram, Iarla Ó Lionáird, Jerry Cantrell, Lola Kirke, Peter Dreams, Bobby Rush, OG DAYV, Jack O’Connell, Sharde Thomas-Mallory and more.

You can listen to “Why You Here / Before the Sun Went Down,” the score’s lead single featuring Miles Caton, who also stars in the film above, and check out the entire tracklist from the soundtrack and its lead single, “Sinners,” from Rod Wave below.

It may be a few years before we get to visit Ryan Coogler’s Wakanda in the Marvel Cinematic Universe again, but we can’t wait to see what he’s got in store for us when it comes to the supernatural South during the Jim Crow-era in America.

On Tuesday (Jan. 28), Warner Bros. released their latest trailer for Coogler’s upcoming film Sinners, which stars Michael B. Jordan (twice) as he takes on the tole of twin brothers who venture home to the South only to find that racism has taken on a new and terrifying form. Yup, white racist vampires. Makes sense if you think about it but that’s neither here nor there.

Looking to live their best lives, the white vampires look to ruin the happiness and peace that the twin brothers are looking to establish in their home but find quite a resistance as the good people of the small town aren’t going to take to blood-sucking colonizers too lightly.
While we can only imagine the kind of undead snow bunnies these vampires will use to tempt the good men of this community (Dr. Umar would be safe under those circumstances), we can’t wait to see how Killmonger goes about protecting his people and their home. Best believe heads will roll.
Check out the trailer for Sinners below and let us know if you’ll be checking for it when it hits theaters on April 18.

While we await word on a third installment to Marvel’s Black Panther, director Ryan Coogler has been keeping himself busy with a new project that delves into the supernatural and takes place during the 1930s Jim Crow era (talk about a double whammy).

On Tuesday, September 24, Warner Bros. released the first trailer to Coogler’s upcoming film Sinners, and if you were a fan of HBO’s Lovecraft Country, this film might just be up your alley. Starring Michael B. Jordan twice (he plays his own twin brother), the film centers around Jordan as he returns to his home after traveling the world and seeing men die “in every way possible” only to learn that “demons” now haunt his hometown.

Getting the strap in preparation for a showdown of Biblical proportions, Jordan and the people of his community must now fight for survival as the evil hunts down the people of his town and does God knows what with them.
Even without much plot details or demons to be seen, the trailer for Sinners definitely promises a ghoulish good time for lovers of the horror genre. We can’t wait.
Check out the trailer for Sinners below, and let us know if you’ll be checking for it when it hits theaters in March of 2025.

The dynamic Hollywood duo Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan’s next film has found a home.
Warner Bros. beat out Universal and Sony for the rights to Ryan Coogler’s next project starring his longtime collaborator Michael B. Jordan.
Variety broke the news about the bidding war for the untitled project, which will mark the fifth film that Coogler and Jordan have worked together on.

The details around the film are a secret, but according to reports, it will be a vampire film that will allegedly take place during the Jim Crow era and have anime vibes.
For those that don’t know, Michael B. Jordan is a massive fan of anime, and if you saw Creed III, the boxing film’s scenes featuring Jordan and Jonathan Majors are full of homages to his favorite anime shows.
A report from The Hollywood Reporter details the great lengths Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan went to keep their movie a secret.
“Deta” ls are being kept hush-hush, but according to sources, the project has been described as a period thriller (some have said it takes place in the Jim Crow-era South) involving the undead. Some sources have said it also contains anime influences — Jordan is known to be a massive fan — but it is unclear how those influences are weaved into the project.”
Coogler and Jordan are becoming the black Scorsese and DiCaprio.
Jordan starred in Ryan Coogler’s critically acclaimed film debut, Fruitvale Station, before starring in other films directed by Coogler, Black Panther, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and Creed.
Coogler will reportedly begin production on the secret film this summer.
We can’t wait to see what this film is all about.

Chlöe Bailey‘s got a crush on one of the biggest stars in Hollywood. The 25-year-old “Have Mercy” singer joined The Dotty Show this week, where she revealed that he celebrity crush is none other than Michael B. Jordan. “I’ve been saying that in interviews even, like, years ago,” she admitted. When asked if she’s told […]

Sixteen years after Will Smith’s I Am Legend hit theaters (his last sci-fi blockbuster film, After Earth, bombed horribly), it’s finally receiving a sequel and it’ll feature another Hollywood heavyweight to help conjure up some much needed hype.

According to Variety, I Am Legend 2 is going into development and will star Will Smith alongside one of Hollywood’s hottest actors, Michael B. Jordan. Though details about the plot aren’t known, it will be interesting to see what direction the film goes in. By the end of the first film Will Smith had sacrificed his own life to save the lives of his fellow co-star Alice Braga. While there was an alternate ending in which Smith survived, many people didn’t get to see that as it wasn’t included in the theatrical release of the film.

Though the film was based on Richard Matheson’s 1954 novel of the same name, in the novel, Smith’s character of Robert Neville was the last man alive in a world of vampires and not mutated human beings like in the film. Many felt that the film should’ve stayed true to the vampire material from the book, but writer Avika Goldsman decided to go a different route with the screenplay and ultimately we got mutated humans who acted a fool. Now that he’s signed a multiyear deal with Warner Bros., he’s ready to revisit the mutated world that Robert Neville is stuck in.
Variety reports:
Goldsman revealed that the sequel will follow the ending of Matheson’s novel and the original film’s alternate ending in which Smith’s character survives.
“We trace back to the original Matheson book, and the alternate ending as opposed to the released ending in the original film,” he said. “What Matheson was talking about was that man’s time on the planet as the dominant species had come to an end. That’s a really interesting thing we’re going to get to explore. There will be a little more fidelity to the original text.”
So, are we finally getting vampires? Will the humans mutate into blood sucking demons of the night? We kinda hope so. Who will Michael B. Jordan play in the film? We have no idea. Naturally, many assume he’ll be Will Smith’s son for obvious racial reasons, but we doubt that will be the case. That’ll just be too cliché for the film. There is a chance we may once again see Alice Braga return as she’s expressed enthusiasm for a return to the franchise once she learned a sequel would be happening.

“I was super surprised and very curious,” Braga said. “I was almost jumping on the phone and saying, ‘Can I please be in it? Can I please be in it? Can I please be in it?’”
We sure hope so.

Cam’ron’s comments about photos of Michael B. Jordan and Jonathan Majors earned him some backlash online, particularly from members of the Hip-Hop community.

The Harlem rapper took to social media Saturday (April 8), to share pictures from a photo shoot that the two actors took part in as part of promoting their recent film Creed III. The first black-and-white image shows Jordan seated with Majors hugging him from behind while both face the camera. The second image shows both men looking ahead, resting their heads on each other. Cam’ron wrote in the caption: “The reason I didn’t go see creed.”

The “You Gotta Love It” artist didn’t offer any elaboration, but the post led to many suspecting that he was uncomfortable with the two actors in that setting, prompting a wave of criticism. In the comments, many pointed out the 47-year-old’s stance in light of his wearing of the color pink in the late 1990s and 2000s, which marked a shift in perspective in Hip-Hop.
Veteran rapper Skillz crafted his own Instagram post with the photo in question. “We are our own worst enemies smh. I tell all my homies I love ’em…Why? Cuz I do! Sometimes it throws ’em off but Ion care, Ima keep saying that ish. Tomorrow ain’t promised. We all getting older man & death is definitely certain. It’s already hard enough out here for black men as it is bro,” he wrote in the caption.

He continued: “Maaan the times we living in goofy af. Y’all got it. When you die and ya family don’t have one picture of you smiling you got it bruh. Hardest obituary pic ever. You won.” His post resonated with other artists like DJ Paul of Three Six Mafia. “My brother missing out cause it’s an amazing movie! I’ve watched it five times and I’m not just saying that because we had the theme song in the trailer,” he wrote with a laughing emoji. Jarobi White, a founding member of A Tribe Called Quest, also chimed in: “I think being afraid to show love to brothers because of being seen as gay is well…. Gay.”

Such observations haven’t stopped Creed III’s success. Its done mighty well at the box office, with Jordan stepping in as director of the film that made its debut on March 3. It earned $58.7 million in its opening weekend in North America, and so far further $41.8 million overseas.

Michael B. Jordan and Jonathan Majors made sure to send love Angela Bassett’s way.
Following Angela Bassett’s loss or “snub,” her Black Panther co-star Michael B. Jordan and his new bestie and Creed III boxing partner Jonathan Majors came through with some support giving her a shoutout before presenting the Oscar for Best Cinematography.
For those who didn’t tune in or didn’t care to watch the 95th Oscar Awards, Bassett, who was heavily favored to win the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her stellar performance in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, didn’t do the thing losing out to Jamie Lee Curtis for her performance in Everything Everywhere All at Once adding to the film’s epic night.
Many also feel Jamie Lee Curtis’ co-star Stephanie Hsu was “snubbed” and should have taken home the Oscar.
Once Jordan and Majors hit the stage, the Creed III director said “Hey Auntie” to Bassett, a nod to the popular line from the first Black Panther film. Majors told the iconic actress, “We love you.”

Twitter, who was still in their feelings about the “snub,” did appreciate the moment from Jordand and Majors. “Some real gs. Those few words = a whole conversation understood by many of us. What’s understood doesn’t always need to be explained,” one Twitter user wrote.

“Michael B Jordan to Angela Bassett: Hey Auntie. Jonathan Majors to Angela Bassett: WE love you IM CRYING,” another user wrote.

Angela Bassett Has Not Said Anything About The Oscars Moment
Bassett has yet to comment on the night and whether or not she felt she was the victim of another snubbing. She didn’t bring home the gold statue for her brilliant performance in the Tina Turner biopic, What’s Love Got To Do With It.

Speaking with CBS Mornings earlier this month, she spoke about it, saying, “Of course, in the moment, you’re hoping and praying and wishing … but I don’t walk away thinking I’ve been robbed,” she said. “That’s too negative of an emotion to carry with me for the rest of my life.”
You can peep more reactions to Jonathan Majors and Michael B. Jordan’s kind gesture in the gallery below.

Rocky who? Michael B. Jordan’s directorial debut, Creed III, has made history.
Michael B. Jordan is laughing his so-called “corny” self to the bank despite some red-carpet shenanigans that sparked ridiculous podcast debates.
Creed III, the third installment in the Rocky spinoff franchise, knocked out the competition bringing in an estimated $58.7 million at the domestic box office this weekend, exceeding the initial $30 million projection from the studio per The Hollywood Reporter. With that haul, it earns the bragging rights for having the biggest opening weekend for a sports film.

The film also pulled in $41.8 million overseas this weekend, bringing the film’s total box office earnings to $100.4 million.

“This is beyond all of our expectations. And we knew that we had something special — we tested the movie, and it tested great, but the public responded so resoundingly to it,” Erik Lomis, MGM’s head of distribution, said, speaking with the Associated Press. “Everything went right here, starting with the movie itself … It was just up to us not to break it when they gave it to us, and we didn’t.”
No Sylvester Stallione, No Problem
Creed III marks the first time Sylvester Stallone, who appeared in both Creed and Creed II, is not in the film. He was not missed thanks to Jonathan Majors, who fills in the role of Adonis’ former friend turned rival Damian in the film.
Speaking on how his new buddy Jordan sold him on the role, Majors told Entertainment Weekly, “The thing that got my attention was how he was pitching it, with so much passion and clarity, and that this would be a character coming in who we’ve not seen before. I thought it was a huge opportunity to join the franchise and also to work alongside Michael and learn everything he’s experienced in his twenty-plus years of working in this industry.”
Creed III is currently on track to be the highest-grossing film in the franchise and could top out at $150 million, besting Creed’s $109.8 million and Creed II’s $115.7 million.
