Looking to strike while the iron is still burning hot, Future and Metro Boomiâ have announced that their follow-up album to We Donât Trust You (which dropped on March 22) will be releasing less than a month later on April 12 and will be titled, We Still Donât Trust You.
The two announced the surprise project yesterday (April 4) and though the announcement was overshadowed by J. Coleâs Might Delete Later EP and response to Kendrick Lamarâs diss, fans are already buzzing about the upcoming project. Taking to his official IG page for the big reveal, Future and Metro dropped a teaser video for their latest offering with Future writing âJobâs not finished 4/12/24â in the caption for the post.
With many feeling that Future took many subliminal at Drake on his previous album, could his caption suggest that the Southern rapper will continue to throw darts at the King of The North? Will he and Kendrick Lamar collaborate on another diss record? Maybe Pusha T for good measure? Who knows, but with We Donât Trust You having debuted atop of Billboardâs Top 100, you can expect We Still Donât Trust You to do the same.
And no, this isnât a deluxe edition of the previous album with some extra tracks as Metro made it clear that âThis is not a deluxe this is completely separate body of work #WeSTILLDontTrustYou 4/12/24.â
Canât wait.

Kendrick Lamar put the Hip-Hop world on notice after dropping a verse on âLike Thatâ from Future and Metro Boominâs new WE DONâT TRUST YOU project. K-Dot revisited his âControlâ verse days and restored the feeling after aiming shots at Drake and J. Cole while declaring himself the best among the so-called âBig Three.â
Kendrick Lamar has been spending more time focused on his pgLang brand and assisting the career of his cousin, Baby Keem to great effect. The former TDE standout has often been mentioned in the same tier as Drake and J. Cole, with many thinking the trio would clique up one day and shift the entire ecosystem.
K-Dot put those hopes and dreams to rest on âLike Thatâ and didnât mince words at all. Some are of the mind that Lamar has taken subliminal shots from Drizzy over the years, in particular, related to their status within the Hip-Hop hierarchy.
From âLike Thatâ:
âOkay, letâs get it up, itâs time for him to prove that heâs a problem/N*ggas clickinâ up, but cannot be legit, no 40 Water, tell âem/Ah, yeah, huh, yeah, get up with me/F*ck sneak dissinâ, first person shooter, I hope they came with three switches/I crash out, like, âF*ck rap,â diss Melle Mel if I had toâ
In a bid to distance himself from the pack, Lamar added, âMotherf*ck the big three, n*gga, itâs just big meâ which left nothing to the imagination.
This isnât the first time Kendrick Lamar caused a stir. Back in 2013 on Big Seanâs âControl,â Kung Fu Kenny named names and essentially dared everyone to try his pen and had people not even involved in the jabs responding to the verse. Time will tell if Drake or J. Cole will respond, considering the latter has always represented his connection to Lamar as friendly.
Again, this could also be traced to a perceived beef between Future and Drake, although that hasnât been confirmed. Further, Metro Boomin has had recent issues with the Canadian superstar that went public, adding to the lore of discord between them all.
On X, formerly Twitter, folks are chiming in about Kendrick Lamarâs jabs toward Drake and J. Cole. Check out the reactions below.

Metro Boomin is no stranger to fame and that comes with the requisite smartphone cameras in his presence, capturing moments perhaps not meant for the public. One such video surfaced of Metro Boomin doing a âsniff testâ which the woman in the video used to make a joke that the producer didnât find amusing.
X user @pxssywater, which explains quite a lot if weâre keeping it funky, posted a video of Metro Boomin at a cookout during an unspecified time. While Young Metro is cheffing it up, the woman holds up her fingers for the sniff test and she apparently passed with flying colors considering the jubilation shown in the video.
âIf Young Metro donât trust you, it ainât good coochie,â read the caption with @pxssywaterâs X reply.
In response, Metro wrote in a X reply, âu so lame enjoy the cloutâ to which @pxssywaterâs replied with, ân*gga you know it was just joke/skit that you agreed to do⌠this video went viral yrs ago âŚ.. your ppl the one who sent it to meâ completed with corresponding emojis to convey the seriousness of things.
Currently, the video of Metro Boomin sniffing @pxssywaterâs fingers has exploded online once more with over two million views and counting of the clip in question.

You can add Drake and Metro Boomin to the list of rap stars who donât get along. Drizzyâs recent jab at the producer has prompted a response.
TMZ is reporting that Champagne Papi recently hosted a livestream that is now going viral. On Saturday (Dec. 2), the beatsmith took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to vent his disappointment on his album Heroes & Villains not receiving its just due in terms of honors. âYet Her Loss still keeps winning Rap Album of the Year over H&V. Proof that award shows are just politics and not for me,â the tweet read. âIdc about awards honestly, the true award and REWARD is knowing that the music I spend so much time on brings joy to peopleâs everyday lives.â
Naturally, the post landed on Drakeâs radar. He soon unfollowed Metro Boomin on social media, and Metro deleted the aforementioned post. During a livestream the âWick Manâ MC addressed both his fans and haters. âTo the rest of you â the non-believers, the underachievers, the tweet and deleters â you guys make me sick to my stomach, fam,â he said. âLook at my eyes â you guys wanna do something? Thatâs what I thought.â
On Monday (Dec. 13), Metro Boomin posted a skit that fans believe is the unofficial response to Drake. The video shows four Black males wearing straight hair wigs talking in what is perceived as âfrat boysâ at a basketball court. âWhoa calm down Jamal, donât pull out the 9,â one of the actors says.
The two have previously worked on Drake and Futureâs 2015 collaboration album, What A Time To Be Alive. You can see Drake address things below.

After years of teasing a collaborative album, Metro Boomin and Future are finally going to be going into the lab to cook up an LP to keep heads nodding, booties shaking and necks snapping.
On Tuesday (April 18), the super producer from St. Louis shared an image of his Coachella set. He shared it with the Toxic King and in the caption dropped the bomb that their fans have been waiting to hear for years when he wrote, âAfter a 10+ year journey it was surreal to perform @coachella in front of 20k+ with my brother @future đŚ đŚ đŚ Metro Pluto album otwđĽđĽđĽđĽâ
That Metro Pluto album is bound to do big numbers, b.
The announcement comes a month after Metro Boomin told Flaunt magazine that he âwould definitely betâ on a duet album with Future dropping sometime this year. Though that wasnât exactly a confirmation so much as it was a confident prediction, it now seems like the project will indeed be happening and their fans canât wait to see what they serve up once they get out the kitchen.
Real talk it seemed like it was only a matter of time before these two churned out an entire project together after Future let the world know that âIf young Metro donât trust you, Iâm gonâ shoot you.â You donât ride for someone like that and not break bread together. Just sayin.â
How many cuts into the album is in the can or whether or not the project is even officially underway is anyoneâs guess, but best believe heads will be streaming the sh*t out that joint once it hits platforms later this year.

Metro Boomin has been creeping back into the studio just months after dropping his third Billboard 200-topping album Heroes & Villains in December. And it looks like heâs already cooking up another project with none other than J.I.D, which a rep from the rapperâs team confirmed to Billboard on Wednesday (March 29).

The superproducer took to Twitter on Tuesday to share some pics of the new dynamic duo from the studio with the caption, âGot a lot of new music coming but when me and @JIDsv drop,â followed by a string of fire emojis. The â151 Rumâ rapper commented, âI love working with u brudda, itâs an honor,â to which Metro replied, âHonor is mine family,â with a handshake emoji.

Metro later wrote âYessir!!â in response to the Debating Hip-Hop Twitter account, announcing, âweâre really getting a @JIDsv x @MetroBoomin album.â
He mightâve hinted at the album earlier in the year when he sat down with Streetz Is Watchin Radio and told DJ Drama about a collab project that he was releasing this year. âIâmma just say when this drop, honestly, itâll be like one of the biggest things of this generation,â the producer said. âAnd you know I be chilling, I donât like to just jump out and say that, but I can confidently say that.â
In his Flaunt cover story, Metro confirmed a collab album with Future is also on the way, affirming, âI would bet on it. I would definitely bet on it.â Metro is clearly no stranger to collab albums, having worked on Without Warning alongside 21 Savage and Offset in 2017, Double or Nothing with Big Sean the same year, and Savage Mode II with 21 Savage (with special narrative assistance from Morgan Freeman) in 2020.

Metro Boomin has joined the ranks of musical artists selling their publishing catalogs, recently making a deal that earns him $70 million.
According to reports, the producer behind hits from Migos, Kanye West, and Future has sold off part of his existing publishing catalog to the Shamrock Capital firm. Sources with knowledge of the deal estimate that the âJumpmanâ producer received close to $70 million. Representatives for Metro Boominâ declined to comment on the transaction, and Shamrock Capital didnât respond to press inquiries.

News of the deal comes as Metro Boominâ has recently released a new album, HEROES & VILLAINS. The album contains features from Takeoff, Future, Chris Brown, 21 Savage, and The Weeknd. The deal is only for âpartâ of the catalog, but there is no information as to what that includes.
Music catalog purchases have held the attention of those in the music industry as well as observers. Last month, reports stated that the estate of the late superstar Michael Jackson is planning to sell half of its interests in his music catalog for an estimated price of $800 to $900 million. Hip-Hop artists are now finding themselves in the eyesight of interested firms â Dr. Dre sold a collection of music streams and other assets to Shamrock Holdings and Universal Music Group for a sum close to $250 million.Justin Bieber has also taken the plunge and sold the rights to his music catalog in January for an estimated $200 million.
The discussion over artistsâ catalogs and Hip-Hop have also been in the spotlight due to the recent arrival of the entire catalog of the iconic group De La Soul last Friday (March 3rd). The catalog had been withheld from digital streaming platforms for years in a fight with their label, Tommy Boy Records and its parent company, Warner Music Group. In addition, the Quality Control independent label which is home to Migos, Lil Yachty and Lil Baby was acquired in a major deal by the South Korean entertainment firm Hybe America for $320 million.Â
