Stephen Sanchez’s ‘Until I Found You’ Success, ‘Angel Face’ Deluxe Album & More | Billboard News

Stephen Sanchez has the world captivated with his nostalgic voice. We sat down with the “Until I Found You” sensation and got his thoughts on how he fell in love with the ’50s-inspired genre, his ‘Angel Face (Club Deluxe)’ album, his reaction to Priscilla Presley’s seal of approval, working on his single for the Beach Boys movie and more!

Stephen Sanchez:

I just fell in love with it and fell in love with the sound and all the artists attached to that sound in that time and music just isn’t like that anymore. Hey everyone, it’s Stephen Sanchez and you’re watching Billboard News.

Rania Aniftos

Hey everybody, it’s Rania Aniftos with Billboard News and I’m so excited, we’re here with the ultimate crooner today, Stephen Sanchez. I mean, we gotta get to the beginning of it. Of course people love you for your kind of 1950s-style fresh take on a throwback time that people miss. Have you always been into that?

Stephen Sanchez:

Man, I grew up kind of surrounded by that music a little bit. But also there was a ton of self discovery as well. I think more than anything, you know, the lyricism and the orchestral production of those songs, it makes you feel nostalgic even more so. I mean, probably back then that was the norm, right? Like I don’t think anyone was feeling nostalgia. I definitely feel like their love was soundtracked by that music. But I think now even more so this is a feeling of nostalgia.

Rania Aniftos:

Well, that was super clear with “Until I Found You,” because I think people are yearning for this old-school type of love, you know? And a lot of people ended up using that song on TikTok to kind of romanticize the romance.

Killer Mike:
What he brought in terms of voice and what he brought in terms of structure, he didn’t sound typical. He didn’t sound like stereotypically what you would think Atlanta was. And there was a razor sharpness and edge about him. Young, handsome dude, great voice and man was just spitting up truth. It was just literally like everything he said it felt authentic.

Damien Scott:
Yeah, he sounded like he came from like, the early 2000s. And, you know, in the way that everything was so assured and the way he rapped, just felt like …

Like you’ve been here,

We’re just talking to you, again, like that same kind of quality of just, I’m just talking to you, I’m just telling you what’s going on in my life. I’m just, I’m not I’m not overexaggerating anything, everything is real to me. And he had a flow that was just incredibly water.

Killer Mike:
Yeah Atlanta, actually, he wear it like a masters track. And I love that.

What did it do on the charts?

Tetris Kelly:

Bebe Rexha calls out G-Eazy in a now-deleted post, but she said what she said. Bebe Rexha hopped on IG to respond to texts she received asking her to make content with G-Eazy since their 2015 hit “Me, Myself and I” is seeing a resurgence. Bebe posted a screenshot of the text with the caption “G-Eazy you have my number. Why don’t you text me and ask me yourself you ungrateful loser.” She also says she could expose the bad things he’s done and how he treated her after she gave him, quote, “your only real hit.” “Me, Myself & I” is G-Eazy’s first of his two top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100. Bebe eventually deleted the post because she said it was negative and toxic. Plus, she said her team made her take it down, tweeting, “Sometimes trauma can lead us to react that way, and that period of my life was traumatizing. I am writing this because I regret taking it down. And I want to say that I still stand by what I said.” Bebe also retweeted a photo with the caption, “Bebe Rexha and Halsey talking about how they carried G-Eazy’s career.” G-Eazy and his ex Halsey’s song “Him & I” is his third-highest-charting song on the Hot 100. G -Eazy posted about his album release party and upcoming tour, but not a response to Bebe’s posts. We’ve reached out to both of their teams for comment.
