If we’ve learned anything about Knicks owner James Dolan over the past few years it’s that he has no problem banning people from his playground known as Madison Square Garden for the pettiest of reasons, and now, rapper Lil Tjay has found himself embargoed from the Mecca of basketball.
According to TMZ, the “Pop Out” rapper is no longer welcome at “The World’s Most Famous Arena” after he was caught spitting in the face of a security guard during the WBO lightweight champion bout between Keyshawn Davis and Denys Berinchyk last Friday night (Feb. 14). In a video making the social media rounds following the incident, we see a security guard going back-and-forth with Tjay at the event before someone intervenes and separates the two men only for Lil Tjay to approach the guard one more time letting one fly right out of his mouth and into the guard’s face.
That’ll do it every time.
Needless to say, once upper management caught wind of the incident and saw the video, it wasn’t a hard choice for them to ban the rapper from ever setting foot back in Madison Square Garden.
Per TMZ:
Madison Square Garden tells TMZ … “Our policy is that patrons that engage in confrontational and disruptive behavior will be escorted out and banned from all MSG properties.”
Our sources inside the building tell us Tjay and his crew were pushing to get ringside without having the proper clearance to be in the VIP area.
We’re told when Tjay was informed they weren’t allowed, the “Trench Baby” rapper got physical and spit in the guard’s face — with multiple angles of the slimy skirmish caught on camera.
While Lil Tjay might be a well-known artist in the Hip-Hop culture, he found out he doesn’t hold enough weight to just walk into the VIP section of a huge event without getting pushback from hired security. That’s only reserved for the likes of Jay-Z, 50 Cent and Hip-Hop moguls of that caliber… maybe.
What do y’all think about Lil Tjay getting banned from Madison Square Garden? Too harsh for his actions or a proper punishment? Peep another angle of the incident and let us know in the comments section below.

Rapper Lil Tjay found himself in trouble with the law, and his Instagram followers were front and center to see it all happen.
Spotted on TMZ, Lil Tjay was taken into police custody on Tuesday, June 6. According to his lawyer, the rapper was arrested for the second time this year in NYC, and the arrest happened while he was on Instagram Live.
The “Calling my Phone” crafter was filming a short clip for a music video in Manhattan when law enforcement showed up and slapped cuffs on him for reckless endangerment, his lawyer Dawn Florio told the celebrity gossip site.
The entire arrest was captured while he was on Instagram Live, and people in the crowd could be heard telling him to stop resisting when his phone ended up in someone else’s possession.
It turns out Lil Tjay was caught waving around a fake gun while hanging out of the sunroof of a moving vehicle.
Per TMZ:
According to the NYPD … Lil Tjay was perched on the sunroof of a moving vehicle while waving an apparent firearm. Police took him into custody and recovered the “weapon,” which turned out to be a fake gun. Tjay was charged with criminal possession of a weapon for the imitation pistol.
His attorney said he was also charged with reckless endangerment for displaying the prop gun and obstructing governmental administration for refusing police orders to put his hands behind his back during his arrest.
Damn.
Other Incidents Involving Lil Tjay
TMZ also broke the story of Lil Tjay getting arrested in January following a traffic stop in the Bronx while heading to shoot a music video with Ice Spice. The celebrity gossip site’s law enforcement sources told them a firearm was found in the vehicle leading to his arrest on weapons charges.
Just recently, Lil Tjay was involved in a scuffle backstage during Hot 97’s Summer Jam concert over the weekend, HipHopDX reports.
He is definitely not having a great 2023 so far.

Rapper Lil Tjay’s mission to support fellow rapper Ice Spice ended with him in handcuffs as he was arrested on the way to her video shoot.
According to reports, officers from the New York Police Department conducted a car stop of a black Cadillac Escalade on Monday afternoon (Jan. 16th) at West 183rd Street and Ryer Avenue in the Bronx around 4 P.M. They reported that five men including Lil Tjay were in the vehicle and that four handguns were recovered. A passerby took video footage of the encounter, which was later shared on Twitter. He was reportedly en route to film the video for “Gangster Boo” with Ice Spice.
Lil Tjay, aka Tione Jayden Merritt, was arrested and taken to a local precinct. Representatives for the NYPD stated that the 21-year-old was charged with criminal possession of a firearm, along with the other men in the car. They had pulled the SUV over because it lacked a front license plate and had tinted windows.
Fellow Bronx native Ice Spice was also involved in an encounter with police officers nearby when she was pulled over on Walton Avenue, according to sources. The “Munch” rapper was not charged with anything and freed to go on her way, but her passenger, Markus Grisham, was arrested for criminal possession of a weapon. It was reported that he allegedly had a 9-millimeter handgun on his person when detained at the traffic stop.
The arrest is the latest bit of trouble for Lil Tjay, who was shot multiple times in an attempted robbery at a shopping plaza in Edgewater, New Jersey last June. The “Run It Up” rapper had to undergo emergency surgery, with concerns that the damage he sustained was life-threatening. He made a significant recovery to the point that he recorded and released the track “Beat The Odds” from his hospital bed.
