The movie shares the story of Vicky White, a 56-year-old Alabama former corrections officer who fell for a then-38-year-old inmate, helped him escape from prison and led police on a nearly two-week chase that ended in her death.
Wendy McLendon-Covey stars as White in the Lifetime movie. Rossif Sutherland plays Casey White, the prisoner she falls for after he gets transferred to the prison where she works to serve out a 75-year sentence (the two were not related despite sharing the same last name).
Vicky and Casey went on the run on April 29, 2022, and were captured 11 days later.

Lifetime is back with another V.C. Andrews adaptation — and this time, it’s with her 1990 book Dawn. The limited series V.C. Andrews’ Dawn will air Saturday (July 8) and will be released in four installments every Saturday evening through July 29.

If you haven’t read the book, the series will tell the story of Dawn Longchamp (Brec Bassinger) who grows up around humble surroundings with a loving family. After a sudden tragedy occurs, a startling discovery is unfurled causing her life to take an unexpected turn. Now, surrounded by a new family and environment, she has to adjust to a different life filled with dark secrets and betrayal.
Starring alongside Bassinger is Jesse Metcalfe, Khobe Clarke, Donna Mills, Joey McIntyre and Fran Drescher.

Viewers will get a glimpse at her life before breaking into the industry, traveling back to Oakland, Calif., where the Woman to Woman artist honed her craft. Her journey wasn’t without obstacles though. We’ll also watch the difficulties she faced including a complicated relationship with her mother and childhood trauma. This all leads to her eventual success and rise to a multi-platinum-selling recording artist and television personality.
Cole even dedicates the film to her mother, noting their good-natured relationship despite a rocky past.
“This is a story of a daughter’s love for her mother and although my heart remains broken from her untimely passing I am honored to be sharing it with the world,” said Cole in a previous news statement. “Playing the role of myself was a unique opportunity to re-live special moments in my life that also gave me the chance to process her loss in ways I did not expect. I miss her every day and even though she is not here, her presence was felt throughout this film. Mom, I love you.”
Other actors starring alongside the singer include Debbi Morgan as Frankie Lons, Joseph C. Phillips and Tonia Jackson as her foster parents Leon and Yvonne Coles, and Cindi Davis and Brittney Level as her sisters Neffe and Elite.
