Don’t call it a comeback. The Beats Pill is making its return with improved sound features, a cheaper price tag and Lil Wayne and LeBron James helping usher in the new era.

Announced on Tuesday (June 25), the new Beats Pill is 10 percent lighter than its predecessor, with a 20-degree tilt for “better on-axis sound projection.” It retails for $149.99 – around $50 cheaper than the original — and will be available in matte black, statement red and champagne gold.

“The Beats Pill has been a staple in the James household from day one,” James said in a statement. “It’s an iconic product, so it’s exciting to be part of its relaunch for a new generation.”

Tunechi and LeBron star in the new Beats Pill campaign dubbed “The Predicament.” In the clip, James is throwing a hotel party while Tunechi’s classic “A Milli” blasts in the background, preventing Lil Wayne from sleeping in a nearby room. After Wayne gets up to see where the noise is coming from, he ends up joining in on the party.

The Beats Pill offers up to 24 hours of battery life and a Fast Fuel charging option that gives you two hours of music playback after a 10-minute charge. The Bluetooth speaker has USB connectivity for continuous play (it’s iOS and Android compatible) and one-touch pairing.

“The Beats Pill is back and better than ever — now packed with outstanding sound, all-day battery life, and convenient features,” said Oliver Schusser, Apple’s vice president of Apple Music and Beats. “From the beloved Pill characters to cameos in the world’s most watched music videos, the original Beats Pill was a pop culture phenom and we’re thrilled to bring back a fan favorite updated with the latest features in an iconic design.”

If you have the original Beats Pill, back from 2012 or 2013, then you probably remember the choppy sound quality and terrible bass. According to Beats, the new Pill promises to deliver “better sound than ever before.”

Beyond the acoustic upgrades, including a redesigned tweeter for “crisper highs and rich mid-range tones” and a reengineered racetrack woofer, Beats Pill features a removable carry lanyard, a soft-grip silicone backing and an IP67 dust and waterproof rating.

The Beats Pills is available for pre-order at Amazon, Beats, Apple.com and BeatsbyDre.com. The speaker will be released on June 27.

The internet nearly exploded last September when Taylor Swift attended her first Kansas City Chiefs game, unofficially confirming her then rumored romance with Travis Kelce. And though the couple later explained that they’d been dating for weeks prior to that first public outing, the tight end has revealed that the pop star’s debut appearance at Arrowhead Stadium was still a major turning point in their relationship behind the scenes.
“The first game she came to against the Bears, I was like, ‘I could probably set you up with everything,’” Kelce recalled on a Bussin’ With the Boys podcast episode posted Tuesday (June 25). “And she just walked through the front door. There was no going down, talking to security … She was just like, ‘I want to be around the family and friends and experience this with everybody.’”

Trending on Billboard

“She got beaucoup points for that,” he continued. “I was like, ‘D–n, she’s in the madness. She wants to be a part of it, she wants to support me.’ She really won me over with that.”

“That’s why I really started to fall for her — how genuine she is around friends, family,” Kelce added. “It can get crazy for somebody with that much attention, and she just keeps it so chill.”

Swift would continue supporting the Ohio native at games throughout the 2023-24 season, all the way to the Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory in February. Kelce is now returning the favor by attending the “Anti-Hero” singer’s Eras Tour concerts across Europe, most recently making an adorable onstage cameo at her show in London over the weekend.

“I love the show, man — she’s got bangers,” the New Heights host gushed on the podcast before naming his three favorite Swift songs: “Blank Space,” “Cruel Summer” and “So High School,” which he proudly took credit for inspiring.

“It’s got a little bit of a sentimental meaning,” he said of the latter track, which appears on Swift’s Billboard 200-topping The Tortured Poets Department. “‘You know how to ball, I know Aristotle,’ man.”

Before moving past the subject of his superstar girlfriend, Kelce also explained why he chooses to be so open about his and Swift’s love story. “You want to keep things private, but at the same time, I’m not here to hide anything,” he said. “That’s my girl. That’s my lady. I’m proud of that. I’m not sitting here trying to juggle, ‘How can I keep this under wraps?’”

Lifetime is reaching back into the headlines for The Bad Orphan, a psychological drama premiering on the network on Saturday (June 22).

Inspired by a true story, The Bad Orphan centers around a married couple who adopts an 8-year-old orphan with special needs. According to the movie description, the couple’s “ideas of a perfect family come into question when they discover that Gabby is a troubled little girl, and the family begins to believe things aren’t what they seem. As the unsettling behavior of their ‘child’ worsens and lies are uncovered, cracks in the family dynamic form with Jessica increasingly becoming concerned that adopted daughter Gabby is a threat to their family. Is Gabby just an innocent little girl? Or is there more to her story?”

The Bad Orphan stars Betsy Brandt, Chloe Coco Chapman, Mark Taylor and Eve Edwards. The movie was inspired by the real-life story of Natalia Grace, a Ukrainian-born orphan with dwarfism who was adopted by a married couple, accused of being an adult and later abandoned by the couple. Grace, now 20, shared her story in the Investigation Discovery documentary series, The Curious Case of Natalia Grace.

Luke Combs is opening up about what he calls “one of the best and one of the worst days in my life” during an interview with Zane Lowe of Apple Music 1 that aired Thursday (June 20).

In August 2023, Combs and his wife Nicole celebrated the birth of their second son, Beau (the couple are also parents to 2-year-old son Tex), but the two-time CMA entertainer of the year winner wasn’t able to be present for the birth of his second child due to being on tour in Australia.

“I’ll never forget the craziest day, probably, in my life, close to it,” Combs told Lowe. “One of the best and one of the worst days in my life at the same time was, interestingly enough, and it’s so hard to wrap my mind around it,” Combs said, before detailing the day his son Beau was born.

Trending on Billboard

“So it’s Aug. 16. I wake up in the morning, I’m in Sydney, Australia, in a hotel room, and we’re on tour in Australia. I probably woke up at around 8 a.m. or something like that — Australia time — and I had a text from my wife and it said, ‘I’m so sorry, I really tried to not have the baby while you’re gone.’ And God, dude, it sucked.”

Combs grew emotional as he added, “It sucked because he was born on Aug. 15 in the States. I got to see him be born, which was awesome,” presumably implying that he watched via a video call. “He wasn’t born yet, but my wife went, she texted me on the way to the hospital, and he was two and a half weeks early and I was supposed to be home and I wasn’t. That was real hard to do and I haven’t really told anybody that.”

He added that two of his close friends also work as his guitar tech and personal assistant, so he had a support system. “God, it was a hard day, but I was so lucky that a lot of my closest friends now work for me. And so I had a really great support system. “I was able to be with them through that whole thing.”

Though Combs couldn’t be there in person, he said his wife also had “a really great support system” by her side at home in the States.

“Luckily, my mother-in-law came up for the month while I was gone, because, obviously, we have a 1-year-old [Tex turned 2 on June 19] and my wife is essentially nine months pregnant at the time, so thank goodness she was there. My sister-in-law lives in Nashville as well. So my wife had a really great support system with her for that experience, which I’m very thankful for. That made it a lot easier. I had people with me, everything went great. No hiccups in the process or anything.”

He called the day “a defining moment in my life, for sure,” and said that the day highlights some of the less-than-rosy parts of being in the music industry. “The leaving, and your schedule’s crazy and you’re traveling all over the place. It’s not like I can drop everything I’m doing and fly 18 hours home.”

While his newly released album Fathers & Sons includes songs looking at fatherhood from different perspectives, he said, “I didn’t cover that too much in this album because it’s really hard for me to deal with.”

The dozen-song project includes the songs “The Man He Sees in Me” and “Remember Him That Way.”
