The opening electric guitar riff followed by the steady beat of jingle bells marks the opening of Bobby Helms’ classic hit “Jingle Bell Rock.” The 1957 track makes reference to other similar-sounding songs, including “Rock Around the Clock” and the original “Jingle Bells.”
Helms’ tune made it to the Billboard Hot 100 in 2016, where it peaked at No. 29. It then peaked at No. 3 in 2020. The song, which has a country swing to it, has been covered by many artists in Nashville throughout the years, including George Strait, Rascal Flatts, Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton.
Check out the lyrics and stream the song below to get into the jingle bell rock groove.

Crystal-clear tequila meets hi-fidelity sound.
Tequila Avión celebrated their collaboration with producer WondaGurl with an immersive, invite-only listening experience for a select group of media and tastemakers in Miami on Wednesday (Dec. 7).
“It just sounded interesting. Like nothing I’d ever heard before,” the 25-year-old producer, who has worked with the likes of Travis Scott, Drake, Jay-Z, Mariah Carey, Rihanna and the late Pop Smoke, told Billboard of teaming with the tequila company during the Avión Listening Experience 2.0 at Miami’s Soundlux Audio space.

Soundlux Audio granted Avión and guests the first official use of their new $110,000 Dali Kore speakers for the event. Guests experienced how sound can affect taste (“Science actually proves this,” WondaGurl explained to the crowd) while listening to the Canadian producer’s remixed version of original sound recordings of the Avión tequila-making process — from the agave fields to the Avión distillery — as Avión’s Carlos Andrés Ramirez led the group through a sound-inspired tasting of Avión Reserva 44 and the brand’s-new Avión Cristalino tequila.
“The original audio was seven to 10 years of the tequila-making experience turned into a 10-minute audio and highlighted elements of the tequila-making process,” said WondaGurl.
Miami Heat’s DJ Irie, Marcello “Cool” Valenzano of Cool & Dre, producer Marcella Araica and performance artist Aileen Quintana were among the special guests. Avión held a similar event in Brooklyn over the summer.
So how does sound affect taste? Sweet and salty flavor notes, for example, are amplified by high-pitch sounds, while flavors such as minerals and herbs are amplified by low-pitch sounds, WondaGirl noted during the event.
The multiplatinum-selling producer, who revealed that she’s working on “an electronic and instrumental project,” signed a publishing deal with Travis Scott’s Cactus Jack Publishing and Sony/ATV Music Publishing through her Wonderchild imprint in 2020. Her debut solo album is set for release early next year.
Avión and WondaGurl also announced an exclusive opportunity for aspiring musicians to enter for a chance to win an at-home studio set from Perfect Circuit filled with nearly $3,000 worth of gear chosen by the producer.
Courtesy of Tequila Avión
The set includes a synthesizer, studio monitor, closed-back studio headphones, vocal microphone, audio interface, keyboard controller, cables, and a $250 gift card.
“I feel like [these] are just standard classic speakers for people who are just starting out and interface is really what brings those things together, so you can plug it into your computer,” she said of curating the collection. “The speakers and then midi-controller, I feel like most producers are going to need a midi-controller [keyboard] to use.”
In addition to the at-home studio, one lucky winner will get a virtual, one-on-one mentoring session with WondaGurl.
To enter for a chance to win, submit up to 300 words to AvionListeningExperience.com about why you deserve one of the at-home studio bundles curated by WondaGurl who will choose the final recipients. The contest ends on January 22, 2023.

Cardi B hopped on Instagram Live recently to offer her followers some strongly worded advice about plastic surgery.
“In August I got surgery and I removed 95% of my [biopolymers] … if you don’t know what it is, it’s a– shots. It was a really crazy process,” the rapper said, according to People. “All I’m going to say is that if you’re young — if you’re 19, 20, 21 — and sometimes you’re too skinny, and you be like, ‘Oh my god, I don’t have enough fat to put in my a–,’ so you result to a– shots, DON’T!” (The rapper previously opened up to GQ about receiving illegal injections in a basement apartment in Queens for $800.)
“When it comes to BBLs [Brazilian butt lifts], if y’all want advice from me, before you get your BBL done, you have to make sure your blood levels are all right,” she continued. “If a doctor says your blood levels are too low or you have diabetes or whatever, don’t do it.”
Cardi told her 144 million followers that she was addressing the procedure because “a lot of people thought as soon as I gave birth [to baby Wave in Sept. 2021], I got my body done.”
This week, the superstar also used her social media to clap back at a troll who questioned a video of her performing in a backyard at Art Basel, revealing that she was paid a cool million dollars for a 35-minute set at a private party.

“Fragrance is so personal – it represents something different and smells unique for each person. I’m excited to bring the Fenty Eau de Parfum experience in-store so that people can discover it in a new way,” Rihanna said in a statement.
The multi-faceted fragrance retails for $140 and features intoxicating scents of magnolia, musk, tangerine and Bulgarian rose handpicked by Rihanna, who worked alongside LVMH Master Perfumer Jacques Cavallier-Belletrud, to create a “sensual warm floral experience.”
“That’s the thing I love the most: It’s an experience, it’s a memory, encapsulated into a fragrance. Once you smell it, you’ll never forget it.”
“I wanted a rich color that really represented all genders from across all walks of life,” she continued. “Brown is my favorite color. Brown is who I am. Brown is what I come from. If I’m going to make a fragrance that represents me, even the body language of the bottle needs to marry that. So I wanted something brown, but also transparent so you could see the liquid and the fragrance you’re about to experience.”
After the limited run at Sephora, Fenty Eau de Parfum will continue to be available at FentyBeauty.com while supplies last.

Pulling together his annual tribute to the celebrities we’ve lost in the past calendar year via the Beatles’ iconic Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band cover is always a fraught prospect for British artist Chris Barker. Over the past few years as December rolls around and he feels the pressure to blast out this year’s model, Barker frets over whether he can do it, who to include/leave out and whether the whole things is even a good idea.
“I’ve been doing this since 2016. That was the year anyone who was nice or kind or creative or special decided it was time to leave before the bad stuff started,” Barker tells Billboard in an exclusive note about the year we lost Prince and David Bowie, among many others. “Or at least that’s how it felt at the time. I’ve become a little bit desensitised to it over the years. I mean, I still try and keep the star’s dignity and think of their loved ones and how it would make them feel to see it, but – let’s face it – I make notes over the course of the year now rather than just waiting til November. It’s a thing.”
That explains the inspiration behind his 2022 image, which contains a whopping 151 faces, including late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins, who sits front and center next to an image of Queen Elizabeth II, and just below a Grease-era Olivia Newton-John, who is flanked by actors Ray Liotta and Harry Potter actor Robbie “Hagrid” Coltrane.
Also added last minute was Fleetwood Mac singer/songwriter Christine McVie, who passed away this week, as well as a raft of other music stars, including “Bat Out of Hell” singer Meat Loaf, Migos’ Takeoff, Aaron Carter, Irene Cara, Loretta Lynn, Coolio, the Screaming Trees’ Mark Lanegan, rock godfather Jerry Lee Lewis, Low’s Mimi Parker, Dr. Feelgood guitarist Wilko Johnson, The Wanted’s Tom Parker, composer Vangelis, the Ronetttes’ Ronnie Spector, mysterious singer Q Lazzarus, Yes drummer Alan White and famed rock member memorialist Cynthia Plaster Caster.
“But this year, I had to put them all the previous ones side by side for some reason (Someone asked me to do it or something) and it really hit me how many great people we’ve lost forever. It’s a real sea of amazing talents laid out in front of your eyes,” Barker says of the lengthy list of musicians, actors and comedians who’ve shone a bit of light into the darkness. By now an expert on such things, Barker says that he noticed early on in 2022 that it was going to be an “exceptional year” of bold-faced losses, with his list so long that by mid-year he’d already surpassed the final total from year one.
“It was almost enough to make me think maybe this isn’t the right thing to do any more. But people really like it and they’ve grown to expect it,” he says. “I have been shuffling the characters around quite a lot but I think my front four is valid. Nichelle Nichols’ (Star Trek) career was groundbreaking, Meat Loaf was iconic, Robbie Coltrane was heartbreaking and Olivia Newton-John defined an era. There are plenty of others on the list who are also huge losses and massive icons but I’m satisfied with my decision here. I have made life difficult by going so early on this. I know in previous years I have had to make late editions and updates but this year it will be a really difficult job as there just aren’t any gaps.”
The list, as usual, is a mix of mostly American and British luminaries of stage, screen, music, comedy and politics, including actors Sidney Poitier, Angela Lansbury, James Caan, Paul Sorvino, Julee Cruise, Anne Heche, William Hurt, Yvette Mimieux, Bob Saget and Leslie Jordan, as well as a mix of directors and sports and fashion figures.
“Every year I ask that if people like the montage, they could consider making a donation to charity,” he says. “This year, please consider making a donation to a charity helping the children and the people of Ukraine. This shouldn’t be happening in the 21st century.”

Ciara got dressed up in her finest all-black going-out fit to celebrate husband Russell Wilson’s 34th birthday on Tuesday (Nov. 29). The Denver Broncos QB slipped into a tuxedo for a photo shoot in which the devastatingly handsome pair shared a kiss in their living room soundtracked by Mary J. Blige’s “Everything.”
“Intelligent, Beautiful, Loving, Caring, Thoughtful, Consistent, Special, Anointed, Rare, A Legend, a Winner, Everything that is YOU!” Ciara wrote in the caption to her post. “I love you so much Birthday Boy @DangeRussWilson! Today a King was born! I love you so much! I’m so proud to celebrate you today and everyday.”
Wilson appreciated the loving words, responding in kind to his wife’s post, writing, “I am grateful I get to spend the rest of my life with you. And one day Eternity in Heaven. I love you Mrs. @Ciara Wilson.” The couple, who got married in July 2016, share a daughter and a son.
Back in September, Ciara returned to playlists with the feel-good R&B jam “Better Thangs” featuring Summer Walker. The single dropped after the singer closed a new deal with Republic Records and Uptown Records (in partnership with her Beauty Marks Entertainment label) on the heels of her July single “Jump.”
“For me, joy is the ultimate feeling that I was feeling [when creating ‘Better Thangs’], and I wanted for people to feel that with this record,” Ciara told Billboard after the song dropped. The Grammy-winning artist revealed that both “Jump” and “Better Thangs” will appear on the as-yet-untitled studio album that will serve as a follow-up to her 2019 release, Beauty Marks.

Balenciaga brand ambassador Kim Kardashian has called out the luxury fashion house for its recent holiday ad campaigns that featured children holding teddy bear bags dressed in what seemed like bondage gear. The campaign has since been taken down from all of the brand’s accounts.

“I have been quiet for the past few days, not because I haven’t been disgusted and outraged by the recent Balenciaga campaigns, but because I wanted an opportunity to speak to their team to understand for myself how this could have happened,” the reality star tweeted on Sunday (Nov. 27).
She continued, “As a mother of four, I have been shaken by the disturbing images. The safety of children must be held with the highest regard and any attempts to normalize child abuse of any kind should have no place in our society — period.”
Kardashian went on to explain that she appreciated Balenciaga’s removal of the campaigns and apology and believes the brand understands “the seriousness of the issue” and will ensure it never happens again.
“As for my future with Balenciaga, I am currently re-evaluating my relationship with the brand, basing it off their willingness to accept accountability for something that should have never happened to begin with — & the actions I am expecting to see them take to protect children,” she concluded.

On Tuesday, the luxury fashion house took down the ad campaigns after receiving pushback on social media for the photos which included images of the children with their teddy bear bags.
“We sincerely apologize for any offense our holiday campaign may have caused,” Balenciaga said in a statement to its Instagram account. “Our plush bear bags should not have been featured with children in this campaign.”
In another statement a few hours later, the brand also addressed a separate campaign that displayed “unsettling documents” that referred to a Supreme Court case relating to child pornography laws, CNN reported.
“We apologize for displaying unsettling documents in our campaign,” Balenciaga wrote. “We take this matter very seriously and are taking legal action against the parties responsible for creating the set and including unapproved items for our Spring 23 campaign photoshoot. We strongly condemn abuse of children in any form. We stand for children safety and well-being.”
