Following her latest album, Grasa, Nathy Peluso debuts Club Grasa, an eight-track EP that turbocharges half of the album’s original 16 tracks with a dance floor-ready twist. In her first remix project, she harnesses the talents of international electronic producers to reinvent these tracks. Elements of rap, salsa, soul and acoustic melodies are reinterpreted through the lenses of these diverse artists, reflecting a global EDM aesthetic.

“This whole process has been an experiment and a super fun journey for me,” Nathy Peluso shared in a press release. “I’ve handed over my music to producers from the international clubbing scene, giving them total freedom to reinterpret it from its core.”

She also describes Club Grasa as a project that pushes her creative boundaries through collaboration, embodying the album’s intent for listeners to experience the “music in their own unique ways.”

The lineup includes Spain’s nusar3000, TRISTÁN!, Ideas Radicales, and Phoac; Argentina’s Garoto 3000 and Tayhana — who is also Mexican; Colombia’s CRRDR, and the U.K.’s Mura Masa.

The Grammy-winning British producer Mura Masa brings a glitchy electro touch to “Menina,” featuring Spanish-Brazilian artist Lua de Santana. Mura Masa, born Alex Crossen, shared his enthusiasm. “Nathy is really wonderful and Grasa is such a great album with a real sonic identity,” he said in a press release. “I wanted to take what she and Lua de Santana had done with the original and recontextualize those conceptual elements into a more club-friendly setting without compromising that identity.”

The remixes showcase a range of styles and influences. Nusar3000 infuses “Real” with a more adrenaline-pumping approach, while TRISTÁN!’s synth-futurist sound transforms “Corleone.” Tayhana’s remix of “Aprender a Amar” contrasts with Garoto 3000’s bouncy approach to “Manhattan.” PHOAC and Merca Bae explore Caribbean-industrial sounds in their respective remixes, with CRRDR blending tribal and Latin club rhythms in “Todo Roto.”

Maintaining its sultry nylon guitar-laden groove and hip-hop beat with a hint of reggaetón, the remix of “Rewind” by Blxst featuring Feid now welcomes Becky G. Her sultry and occasionally hushed, hazy tones blend seamlessly with Feid’s dynamic flow and Blxst’s R&B-infused style.

Blxst teased the collaboration last week on TikTok and Instagram, captivating fans with a preview video featuring both Becky G and the L.A. rapper, captioning the post, “Black & Brown make the world go round @iambeckyg 🤎🖤.”

This remix is a standout track from Blxst’s debut album, I’ll Always Come Find You, out on Red Bull Records. Spanning four discs and 20 tracks, the album explores a mix of trap, R&B and Afrobeats-tinged rhythms, featuring collaborations with notable artists such as Ty Dolla $ign, Anderson .Paak, Offset, 2 Chainz, Amanda Reifer and more.

Becky G is no stranger to crossing musical boundaries. From her early days as a rapper in Inglewood, Calif., she has seamlessly transitioned into música urbana and embraced música mexicana, as highlighted by her collaborations with Banda MS and Snoop Dogg, for example, and her latest 2023 album, Esquinas.

The original version of “Rewind” released in March spotlighted Colombian star Feid and marked Blxst’s inaugural bilingual collaboration, as well as the rapper’s entry into the Latin music scene. The track is a perfect fusion of his smooth Cali vibes and Feid’s distinctive paisa delivery.

Christian Alicea is not merely reviving the art of salsa; he’s rebooting it for a new generation, infusing the classic genre with a 2.0 update that’s as vibrant as it is innovative.

Last fall, Alicea created the invigorating tropical hit “El Swing,” replete with rich percussion, lively trumpets, and larger-than-life choruses that soared to No. 18 on the Tropical Airplay chart by November.

With “El Swing 2.0,” the remix, the Puerto Rican singer escalates his mission, bringing on board the talents of Luis Figueroa, Moa Rivera (self-proclaimed as La Voz Sensual de la Salsa), and Luis Vázquez, marking a groundbreaking collaboration to further boost salsa’s resurgence. Each artist injects their unique essence into the mix, introducing fresh verses that both honor and refresh the genre’s storied footprint.

The significance of this ensemble is underscored as all participants were spotlighted on Billboard’s list of 15 Artists Keeping the Tropical Genre Alive, heralding them as custodians of salsa’s vibrant future.

The music video for “El Swing 2.0” extends this playful homage its longevity, casting the singers as baseball players — a nod to the multifaceted meaning of “swing” in both music and life. The song is produced by Eliot El Mago D Oz and DJ Buddha.

“Working with Luis Figueroa, Moa Rivera, and Luis Vazquez has been an incredible experience,” said Alicea in a statement. “Their passion for music and dedication to pushing boundaries aligns perfectly with my own artistic vision. Together, we’ve reimagined ‘El Swing’ in a way that pays homage to its roots while paving the way for its future.”

This project is a continuation of Alicea’s homage to the style’s rich heritage, as seen in his 2023 debut album Yo, where he boldly reimagined Marc Anthony’s iconic 2004 album cover for Valió La Pena. His debut album also placed three songs on the Tropical Airplay chart.

Last year, the artist signed an exclusive booking agreement with Loud and Live.

Moreover, his recognition as the only salsa artist on Billboard‘s Latin Artists to Watch in 2024 testifies his role as a pivotal figure in the genre’s evolution. Alicea’s upcoming album arrives March 15.
