Keefe D’s opportunity to defend his name has been set. His murder trial has been scheduled for next summer.

KTNV Las Vegas is reporting that the Compton, California native will get his day in court. On Tuesday, November 7 Clark County Judge Carli Kearney hosted a hearing and scheduled the murder trial to commence on June 3, 2024. The man born Keith Duane Davis faces charges relating to the murder of Tupac Shakur. On Thursday, November 2 Davis pled not guilty to the crime even though he has conducted several interviews where he admitted to being in the vehicle that fatally shot the “All Eyez On Me” rapper.

During an 2018 interview with BET he gave further details behind that tragic evening. “When we pulled up, I was in the front seat,” Davis said. When asked by the interviewer “Who shot Tupac?” he responded “Going to keep it for the code of the streets,” Davis said. “It just came from the backseat, bro.” He also spoke about the incident in his memoir Compton Street Legend. “Tupac made an erratic move and began to reach down beneath his seat,” Keefe wrote in the book. “It was the first and only time in my life that I could relate to the police command, ‘Keep your hands where I can see them.’ Instead, Pac pulled out a strap, and that’s when the fireworks started. One of my guys from the back seat grabbed the Glock and started bustin’ back.”
Keefe D will not face the death penalty if convicted.

Keffe D appeared in court this week at a Nevada Court. He has formally plead not guilty to the murder of Tupac Shakur.

The Associated Press is reporting that the former Southside Crip gang member plans to fight for his freedom. On Thursday, November 2 he appeared in shackles before Clark County District Court Judge Tierra Jones. When asked the magistrate asked his plea the 60-year-old born Duane Keith Davis responded “not guilty”. The judge stated the court will not be seeking the death penalty and also confirmed that Compton, California native will be represented by public defenders Robert Arroyo and Charles Cano.

On September 29 Davits was arrested outside of his home in Las Vegas on murder charges regarding Tupac Shakur’s death. Two months prior local authorities conducted a search at his residence relating to the case. The indictment claims that Keffe D obtained a gun from an associate and provided the weapon to one of his crew members while riding the white Cadillac sedan that opened fire on Tupac Shakur on September 7, 1996.
While the murder was never officially solved former Los Angeles Detective Greg Kading released Murder Rap in 2011. The book follows how a task force that he lead worked the cold case and eventually revealed that Keffe D admitted to his role in Tupac’s murder. Years later Davis would release his own book and participate in various online interviews detailing his role in the infamous crime. Keffe alleged that his nephew Orlando “Baby Lane” Anderson was the triggerman; the same individual Tupac and the Death Row Records entourage attacked at the MGM Grand Hotel.

Now that authorities have arrested and indicted Keffe D for his alleged role in the murder of Tupac Shakur, many are wondering who will be cooperating with prosecutors against him. Well, you can count Suge Knight out.

According to TMZ, the former head of Death Row Records and Tupac’s closest confidant at the time of his death doesn’t plan on giving authorities any help in their case against Keffe D as he still abides by the code of the streets. Even though Knight was in the car with Tupac at the time of the shooting, he doesn’t plan on giving police any kind of information and even suggests that they’ve got the wrong guy.
TMZ reports:

TMZ spoke exclusively with the Death Row Records founder on Monday … and he insists cops and prosecutors are barking up the wrong tree with their arrest of Davis. Even further, he refutes the long-held belief Davis’ late nephew, Orlando Anderson, was the shooter.
He also said prosecutors can forget about getting him on the stand during Davis’ murder trial. In a nutshell, Suge says he’s not ratting out anyone. Keep in mind, of the 6 people involved in the shooting — 4 were in the shooter’s car — Suge and Davis are the only 2 still alive.
Looks like Suge is ready to take whatever he knows about the shooting to his grave.
Though Keffe D’s done numerous interviews putting himself at the scene of the crime and insinuating that he played a role in the shooting, Knight doesn’t believe neither he nor Orlando Anderson killed Tupac.
Crazy world we live in, right?
