Jay-Z has dropped a legal complaint against a lawyer who represents a woman saying he assaulted her. The woman claims that when she was 13, both Jay-Z and Sean “Diddy” Combs assaulted her. Jay-Z has strongly denied these accusations from the start.
On February 4, Jay-Z’s lawyer, Alex Spiro, sent a letter to the judge, telling her they were pulling the complaint. The complaint was originally asking for punishment against the lawyer, Buzee, for filing a baseless claim. Jay-Z’s team asked to withdraw the request without prejudice, meaning they can bring it up again later if needed.
Buzbee and his team want to find out where Jay-Z was during a Video Music Awards after-party in 2000, the time the woman says she was assaulted. Meanwhile, Jay-Z is still pushing forward with an extortion lawsuit against Buzbee in California.
Jay Z’s team stated, “ “on behalf of Defendant Shawn Carter to respectfully request that Mr. Carter’s Motion for Sanctions pursuant to Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 11 be withdrawn at this time, without prejudice.” Even though Jay-Z pulled the complaint, it doesn’t mean he admits to anything. It’s just a move in the legal game, and Jay-Z is still saying the claims are false. The situation is still unfolding, and it’s unclear how it will end. But for now, this is just one part of a bigger legal battle that’s still ongoing.
More news to come as the story develops.

Tony Buzbee’s character is now again in question. Jay-Z has blasted the lawyer for not meeting his client prior to filing the lawsuit against him.
As per TMZ, Jay-Z’s legal team is taking umbrage with how Tony Buzbee goes about his business. In documents obtained by the celebrity gossip site Hov’s counsel call out that the controversial lawyer never met Jane Doe before filing a sexual assault claim against the rapper and Diddy. The new filing says the Texas-based attorney blatantly missed several “factual inconsistencies” in her story and much more.

“Initially, he deflected, saying Plaintiff’s ‘case was referred to [his] firm by another, who vetted it prior to sending it’ to him, and that his firm would ‘continue to vet her claims and collect corroborating data,” the documentation reads. “Now, he concedes that he did not even meet with Plaintiff before signing his name to the complaint, and fails to identify any evidence that corroborates anything his client alleged.”
Jay-Z’s lawyer also went on to question Buzbee’s business principles. “Mr. Carter seeks only to hold Mr. Buzbee to the ethical standards that constrain any responsible attorney who would solemnly sign his name to allegations in court.” TMZ contacted Tony about the suit against him to which he called “weak and desperate.” He also says that he not only interviewed Jane Doe prior to filing the rape lawsuit against Jay-Z and Diddy but four other lawyers did too.
Back in December an unidentified woman claimed that she was sexually assaulted by both moguls at an MTV Video Music Awards after-party back in 2000. During an interview with NBC News there were several inconsistencies in her responses related to the timing, her father picking her up and individuals she spoke to that day.

Jay-Z and his Roc Nation business have reportedly entered into a partnership with a South Korean company that will enable fans to invest in the music royalties of artists. The deal with Jay-Z, Roc Nation, and Musicow was mentioned late last year and is now in total fruition according to new reports.
As reported by Billboard, the partnership is framed as “the first Music Equity Service Provider in the United States” and will allow investors to earn while betting on music royalties and the like. The owners of the song rights will be able to trade royalty shares and they will be allowed to sell shares of those tracks.
As said by Roc Nation Vice Chairman, Jay Brown, “The music industry is evolving into a shared ecosystem where fans and creators can earn together. Our mission is not only to support and empower artists by providing the tools and services they need to build a better music ecosystem but also to give everyone access to the financial opportunities the music industry offers.”
Musicow CEO Woo Rhee added that partnering with the company is an “incredible opportunity to drive innovation and redefine the future of our industry. I’m confident that together, we have the vision, expertise, and enthusiasm to create transformative progress and unlock limitless potential.”
The Korea Economic Daily reported on this deal in November 2024, writing that Jay-Z was investing $5 million and would become the second-leading shareholder of the company.
The service is expected to launch in March of this year.

Jay-Z is not wasting any time in clearing his name. He has filed a new motion to dismiss the sexual assault lawsuit against him.
As spotted on Variety, the Brooklyn, N.Y., native has submitted another request to have a rape case terminated. Back in October, an unidentified woman filed a claim against Jay-Z and Diddy alleging the two raped her at a MTV Music Video Awards after party in 2000. As expected, the news of the allegation soon went viral to which the “Song Cry” rapper quickly responded with a written statement denying the claims. Jane Doe would go on to participate in an interview with NBC News and seemed to contradict her original statements detailed in the original filing.

Soon after Jay-Z’s legal representation filed a request to dismiss the claim. On Dec. 26, 2024, Judge Analisa Torres denied it and ruled that Jane Doe can move forward with her lawsuit anonymously. The judge has since granted Jay-Z permission to request for a dismissal. His lawyer, Alex Spiro, filed a new motion Wednesday (Jan. 8), and according to Variety, the new document cites a “series of inconsistencies in the woman’s account.” This new filing also asks that Tony Buzbee, the lawyer representing Jane Doe, be imposed with a fee for “alleging facts without a sufficient investigation or by failing to withdraw those allegations once it is clear that they are false or exceedingly unlikely to be true.”
The legal professional has responded via a formal statement to Variety saying, “They are dead wrong. We won’t be bullied or intimidated, ever.”

It seems Jay-Z will have to defend his name in a court of law. A judge has denied his request to dismiss a rape lawsuit against him.
As spotted on Vulture, the Brooklyn, N.Y., native did not receive favorable news regarding a recent legal filing against him. On Thursday (Dec. 26), Judge Analisa Torres ruled that Jane Doe can move forward with her lawsuit against Sean “Diddy” Combs and Jay-Z anonymously. While the accuser remains unidentified, the magistrate did say that Jane Doe might have to reveal her name in the future for the case to proceed.
According to the Associated Press, Judge Analisa Torres also expressed her disproval on how Jay-Z’s legal team have handled the complaint thus far. “Carter’s lawyer’s relentless filing of combative motions containing inflammatory language and ad hominem attacks is inappropriate, a waste of judicial resources, and a tactic unlikely to benefit his client. The Court will not fast-track the judicial process merely because counsel demands it,” the written order reads.
The “inflammatory language” is a direct reference to Alex Spiro’s–Jay-Z’s attorney–criticism of the plaintiff’s lawyer Tony Buzbee. In an exclusive statement to the Hollywood Reporter, the Texas-based mouthpiece commented on the judges denial to dismiss the case. “I don’t typically comment on court rulings. I will say that the coordinated and desperate efforts to attack me as counsel for alleged victims are falling flat.”
Back in October, a woman named Jane Doe filed a lawsuit against Diddy and Jay-Z claiming the two raped her at an event following the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards. She has since admitted that there were several inconsistencies with her original filing.

While Jay-Z remains mum about Dame Dash as the latter continues to dish his thoughts, opinions and memories about his heyday in the music industry, N.O.R.E., for one, has no problem responding. And one of his comments seems to have rubbed the thugged-out rapper the wrong way.
In one of Dame’s segments in his recent interview on The Art of The Dialogue, Dame touched on the rape accusations Jay-Z faced at the beginning of December and said that Jay would need the “white media” to give him cover, as culture-centered shows like N.O.R.E.’s Drink Champs and Charlamagne Tha God wouldn’t be able to keep Jay’s reputation afloat. “Drink Champs can’t get him out of this one and neither can Charlamagne ’cause those are the guys that hold him down no matter what he does,” Dame said. “So he got to get to People magazine and Entertainment Tonight right now ’cause they on his head.”
Taking issue with Dame’s take on Jay’s situation and insinuating that N.O.R.E. and Charlamagne are basically Jay-Z apologists, the “Superthug” rapper took to social media to give Dame his own two cents. He brought up how large he’s living these days, having to travel across seas on the regular while Dame’s days of international business trips are well behind him. Dame’s financial struggles have been on public display for quite some time.
“No one’s trying to disrespect you,” N.O.R.E. said. “We trying to show you love, but you keep coming at everybody. If you got beef with one person, you supposed to keep that beef with one person. You got beef with everybody around him…you became the Lame Dash. We don’t want to disrespect you, and I’m trying not to, as much as I can, because I actually respect the sh*t out of you, but you became the lame, chatty patty person that you said you against. Get ya life together. My number’s the same if you wanna work it out.”
Hip-Hop drama between men well into their 40s and 50s is weird, but yet, here we are.
We hope the two men can get on the horn and work out whatever issues there is between the two because the last thing Hip-Hop needs is two fully grown men going back and forth on social media. Just sayin’.
What do y’all think of this situation? Is N.O.R.E. right for feeling a way about Dame Dash’s comments, or is Dame in the right for sharing his opinions regardless of who he offends? Let us know in the comments section below.

Tony Buzbee, the high-profile attorney representing the alleged victims of Sean “Diddy” Combs and Jay-Z, is facing a heavy accusation himself. A woman has launched a lawsuit against Tony Buzbee alleging that the Texas lawyer gave her a sexually transmitted infection (STI).
As reported by TMZ, the lawsuit filed by Jane Doe in New York Superior Court claims that Tony Buzbee has been connected with her since 2018 after initially meeting online. Doe wrote in the filing that Buzbee interacted with her to the point of convincing her to go on a date and travel to his hometown of Houston for a night out.
Doe stated further in the filing that Buzbee booked a hotel room and laid on the charm before the pair engaged in intercourse. Doe claims that Bubzee failed to disclose his status and passed on the unnamed STI to her. The next day, Doe says she noticed pain around her groin area, and after an examination, the STI diagnosis was revealed. Doe says she contacted Buzbee, who allegedly apologized and appeared to note that he knew of his status before having sex with the woman.
Despite the diagnosis, Doe continued to date Buzbee despite feeling shame about the matter. She also claims that Buzbee used his power and influence to manipulate and control Doe on his terms and to keep his disease a secret from the public.
Buzbee told TMZ that the lawsuit from Jane Doe is a shakedown tactic connected to his pursuit of Combs, calling the claim “false, frivolous, laughable and ridiculous” and believes it will be dismissed.
Tony Buzbee was sued for assault in November for allegedly using a champagne flute as a weapon according to a former client of his.

Days after the woman accusing Jay-Z and Diddy of rape back in 2000 admitted that she may have misremembered crucial details about the incident, Jay-Z’s lawyer is pouncing on the admission and is filing a motion to have the lawsuit dismissed entirely.
According to Deadline, Jay’s legal representative, Alex Spiro, is looking to get his client off the hook as Jane Doe admitted that she was “guessing” specific details about the night in question and wrote a letter to the judge overseeing the case calling it all a “sham” of a lawsuit. While Jay-Z promised to fight the allegations in a court of justice and even implored Jane Doe’s attorney, Anthony Buzbee, to file a criminal suit instead of a civil one, it seems like it may not even come to that as Jane Doe has damaged her own case by the statements she made during her NBC interview last week.
Per Deadline:
“These stunning revelations make clear that the complaint filed by plaintiffs’ attorney, Anthony Buzbee, therefore had no factual basis whatsoever,” the Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan partner added. “Even Mr. Buzbee is walking back the complaint he put his name to – excusing these glaring inconsistencies by pointing the finger at the case being referred by another firm who allegedly vetted the story before sending to them. The heinous allegations against Mr. Carter are patently false.”
Leaning hard into his take-no-prisoners persona, Spiro also went for the jugular in his letter of late last week by questioning the ethics and jurisdictional rights of Houston-based Buzbee, who has filed dozens of suits against Combs and says he has over 100 clients with sexual assault allegations against the Bad Boy Records founder. “Mr. Buzbee thus appears to have strategically declined to seek admission in order to avoid sanctions for a complaint that he knew had no factual basis,” says the high-profile Spiro in the three-page correspondence to NYC-based Judge Analisa Torres.
While many Jay-Z haters rejoiced after the rape allegation took social media by storm just a few weeks ago, Jay was quick to deny the accusation and called the lawsuit an attempt at blackmail. Since then, Jane Doe’s story has seemingly fallen apart. Not only have many people said that Jay-Z and Diddy didn’t even hang out on the night in question, but the accuser’s own father (whom she said picked her up after the alleged incident) said he didn’t remember doing so that night.
Whether or not the case gets dismissed remains to be seen, but what is obvious is that Jay-Z and his lawyer are prepared to fight this accusation to the bitter end as Jay has promised Buzbee he wouldn’t get “one red penny” from his pockets over this lawsuit.

Jay-Z has responded to a Jane Doe who accused him and Sean “Diddy” Combs of raping her when she was 13 in 2000, this after the woman gave an exclusive interview acknowledging inconsistencies in her story. The woman contends that the assault did take place but said she made “mistakes” in delivering her account of the incident which prompted Jay-Z’s response.
NBC News exclusively spoke with Jane Doe, who now resides in Alabama, who retold her story regarding what she referred to as the “catastrophic event” that took place 24 years ago. Doe told the network that she “made some mistakes” and her attorney, Tony Buzbee, is attempting to vet her account via his resources.
Of note, Doe claimed that her father picked up up after the alleged assault that occurred after the 2000 MTV VMAs but the woman’s father says he has no recollection of doing so. The woman also said she spoke to a celebrity at the afterparty where the alleged assault took place but the celebrity revealed he was not in New York during the VMAs. Further, photos came forth showing Jay-Z and Diddy at a location that differed from the woman Doe detailed in her initial claim.|
In a statement from Jay-Z, the Brooklyn rapper and businessman continued his vocal critique of Buzbee, who he is accusing of treating the claim and lawsuit as a money grab.
“Today’s investigative report proves this ‘attorney’ Buzbee filed a false complaint against me in the pursuit of money and fame. This incident didn’t happen and yet he filed it in court and doubled down in the press. True justice is coming. We fight FROM victory, not FOR victory. This was over before it began. This 1-800 lawyer doesn’t realize it yet, but, soon,” the statement read.
Jay-Z’s attorney Alex Spiro added, “It is stunning that a lawyer would not only file such a serious complaint without proper vetting, but would make things worse by further peddling this false story in the press. We are asking the Court to dismiss this frivolous case today, and will take up the matter of additional discipline for Mr. Buzbee and all the lawyers that filed the complaint.”
Buzbee claims that Jane Doe’s case was a referral from another firm outside his own and said that Doe’s statements were vetted, according to an email he sent to NBC News.
