Many gamers have been wondering when, in a time when we have gotten some fire remakes, EA will spin the block and bring back Def Jam Vendetta. Hip-hop legend Ice-T shared a theory about why the game hasn’t come to fruition, and spoiler alert: there’s a good chance it won’t ever come back.
Ice-T spends much of his downtime when he’s not acting by picking up the sticks and is a playable character in Def Jam: Fight For NY.
He decided to chime in on Def Jam Vendetta being left in the vault and threw cold water on many gamers, hoping for the video game to return with his theory on the matter.
The game, which featured rappers like Ludacris, Snoop Dogg, even Joe Budden, and anyone involved in the Hip-Hop world, including Jacob The Jeweler, was as if they took wrestling video games like WCW/NWO Revenge and merged it with Street Fighter to deliver what many call one of greatest fighting games ever.

“So many people ask me why this game hasn’t been brought back for the newer consoles. Maybe because they’d have to pay for voice and music rights again. Maybe?” he wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
He continued, “Here’s the BIG problem.. I don’t think they paid ANY of us ANYTHING to be in that original game… I know I didn’t get any type of substantial money. It’s was a situation where you didn’t want to be left OUT of the game. Well….. Yesterday’s price is not Today’s price..!”
Notable gamer, streamer, and famous Blerd actor Khleo Thomas further explained why the game might never be remade.
The “Colors” crafter did point out that he did receive the bag for his voice work in GTA V and Gears of War.
Welp.
Def Jam Teased The Games Possible Return In 2020
Neither EA nor Def Jam have ever confirmed this to be the roadblock keeping the game from returning, but it seems plausible. Def Jam, under Kevin Liles’s leadership, hinted at bringing the game back in a tweet, writing: “#itsinthename Thinking I should bring back the series. How many of y’all would like to see this happen #DefJamEnterprises let me know.”
Def Jam even got people’s hope in August 2020 when they tweeted that fans wanted them to make another fighting game. The record label even said they would announce special news if their X account hits a million followers.
Nothing came of it.
If Def Jam Vendetta does come back, count as one of the many who will welcome the news, but we have zero faith that the game will make it onto next-gen systems.

Iconic Hip-Hop artists Ice-T and Public Enemy will be the headline acts at the National Celebration of Hip-Hop Festival this fall.
The festival event was announced on Wednesday (August 23). The veteran rappers who have helped shape Hip-Hop and popular culture overall were tabbed as headliners for the event, which will be held at West Potomac Park at the National Mall on October 6th and 7th. The concert in honor of Hip-Hop’s 50th anniversary will be completely free to the public.
“Hip Hop is beyond, not just a musical genre,” said Chuck D in a statement. “It’s a cultural movement that has dominated art, fashion, politics, poetry, academia, film, and every corner of the world for the past 50 years. This National Celebration brings it all together in one place for the people, by the people.”
“We are honored to continue to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Hip Hop against the backdrop of America’s Capitol with a free event for everyone. I can’t wait to get on stage and do our thing,” added Public Enemy co-d Flavor Flav in a statement.
Ice-T chimed in with his own statement, adding: “We are coming to the National Mall itself to bring you authentic Hip Hop for the 50th celebration!”
The festival features a star-studded lineup that includes Kurtis Blow, Kid ‘n Play, Soulsonic Force, Roxanne Shante, C.L. Smooth, Melle Mel and Scorpio, The Sugarhill Gang, Peter Gunz, DJ Kevie Kev Rockwell, Mad Skillz, MC Sha-Rock, Busy Bee, Joe Ski Love, Positive K along with other special guests to be named soon. DJ Hurricane will also be on hand to perform a tribute set to the Beastie Boys. The concert promises to be another fantastic event honoring the culture, as the F.O.R.C.E. Tour featuring LL Cool J and The Roots is currently ongoing, and the public is still buzzing over the HipHop50 Live concert event held at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx two weeks ago.
Pre-registration for tickets to the National Celebration of Hip-Hop has already begun. Those interested are advised that they are first come, first serve through the event’s website.

Decades after pissing off law enforcement with his classic cut “Cop Killer,” starring in cult classic movies like New Jack City, and ultimately becoming a fan favorite cop on the hit TV series, Law & Order: SVU, Ice-T has finally been given his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Over the weekend the OG Gangster rapper/actor was blessed with the honor of having his own star laid down on Hollywood Boulevard just a day after celebrating his 65th year on this earth. Joined by his wife, Coco, and their daughter, and some of his Law & Order cast mates at the ceremony, Ice-T accepted his star in true Ice-T form as he thanked his “haters” who motivated him to “be the best that I can be” and excel in his career.
He might’ve not killed Nino Brown, but he sure as hell killed that role in New Jack City. In an interview with Variety, Ice admitted that he never thought he’d end up amongst the legends on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and simply wanted to recognized as one of the best artists when he started his rap career in the late 80’s.
I would have told you that was impossible. When I started making records, I didn’t come into the music business thinking I would be a star. I was just seeing if I could get a fan base. I didn’t want to be the best rapper. I just wanted to be mentioned among the greats: LL Cool J, Run-DMC. Getting any “star” was way out of reach.
Well, he’s gotten his star and truth be told, it’s well deserved and long overdue. The man has been doing his thing since the 90’s and became a household name since then.
Check out Ice-T’s Hollywood Walk of Fame speech below and let us know your thoughts on him finally being cemented amongst the Hollywood legends in the comments section below.

Wait, Coco Austin is just now getting an OnlyFans? Apparently, Ice-T’s wife has just joined the platform and we’re going to bet it will be quite lucrative for her.
The legendary rapper’s voluptuous wife has never been shy about showing off her body, and now you’ll have to pay for premium access, outside her usual social handles.
Reports Page Six:
“Yes, I’m on OnlyFans now… You won’t be sorry.. ❤️,” she captioned an Instagram picture on Wednesday of her dressed in a floral-print robe while exposing the lower part of her butt.
The model, 43, then prompted her fans to click the link in her bio, which takes them directly to her OnlyFans account, where users can subscribe to see exclusive content from her for only $19.99 a month.
“I’m the OG Coco, the one who paved the way for curvy models,” Austin’s OnlyFans bio read. “I’ve continued to Model after 25 years, also along the way I transcended into acting, TV personality, Author, Entrepreneur and Boss Babe.”
Also, don’t get it twisted and start thinking that Coco is moving into the adult film industry or a similar endeavor.
Austin then issued a PSA to her prospective subscribers, telling them that this wasn’t a “porn page” but they will get “sexy hot content” that she “can’t post anywhere else 😉.”
Another bet we’re willing to take, Ice-T is being nothing but supportive.

Ice-T and his voluptuously wife attended the recent Grammy Awards but it seemed that an onlooker was the one who was in love with the Coco.
As per Page Six the Rap legend was in the house for the 65th Annual Grammy Awards. While the celebrity couple seemed to thoroughly enjoy all the festivities it was an off camera moment that truly tickled Ice Oscillator. While watching one of the performances the wife and husband looked on and so did another attendee. An unidentified gentleman sitting to the left of them was clearly stunned by Coco’s unique physique. So much so he did a double take when he really got a good glance at her.
The moment was caught on camera and eventually landed on the “Power” rapper’s radar. He reposted the clip to his social media channels. “Lol… I love how the white dude looked at me then took time to check Coco out,” the Law & Order: SVU star wrote. “I TOTALLY understand” he added. The post was pure comedy and several of his Rap peers, including Busta rhymes, left laughing emojis in the comments section. Some of his other followers claimed they weren’t surprised either and compliment on how stunning she looked.
Ice-T not only attended but he also participated in the historic tribute to Hip-Hop. Initially he declined the offer from Q-Questlove but ultimately was convinced when The Roots member told him “[He said], ‘You don’t want to be sitting at home watching this show, saying you should’ve been there,’”. You can watch the performance below.

Law & Order: SVU star Ice-T does not play when it comes to his 7-year-old daughter, Chanel. The rapper turned actor’s wife, Coco shared a video of Chanel dancing in Christmas pajamas alongside family with the caption, “She loves to joke.”
She added, “Gotta love family time,” the model, 43, wrote. “Chanel runs out in the middle to bust a move to make us laugh.”
However, Instagram users quickly criticized the footage with negative comments including, “Not a good look at all 😮,” one follower wrote, while another added, “SMH just whyyyy , this is not okay!,” according to Page Six.
However, Ice-T responded with an Instagram post of his own. He shared a photo that read, “Everybody is going to hate you anyway…so you might as well give them a reason.” He added a caption, “My advice is you go into 2023 with THIS attitude if you want to WIN.”
The couple, who has been married since 2002, have frequently defended their parenting choices. In an appearance on The Tamron Hall show in November, Coco told the talk show host, “I’m underneath a microscope all the time, and you don’t hear what good you do,” she explained. “You don’t hear the goodness, you just hear a lot of bad.”
She added that she has “put everything aside” for her daughter, adding, “I] want a little respect from people.”
In a video appearance on the show, Ice-T defended CoCo adding, “best mother Chanel that anyone could possibly imagine.”
Also in November, with appearances on 24 seasons off Law & Order: SVU—Ice T became the longest running actor in television history.
