Hot Ones
BLACKPINKâs ROSĂ was almost taken down by the spicy wings on Hot Ones, but not before she could deliver a final message to someone very important in her life â her dog Hank.
Appearing on an episode posted Thursday (Nov. 7), the singer found her body turning against her as the seriesâ famously intense hot sauces got increasingly spicy. Her nose started running, she couldnât help but let out several screams of anguish and she furiously struggled to quell the pain with ice cream and ice cubes before joking that the wings were âgoing to kill me.â
After coming to that realization, ROSĂ looked into the camera and shared some heartfelt âlast wordsâ with her beloved canine, whom, she explained earlier in the video, was named after actor Tom Hanks. âHank, I love you so much,â she said as off-camera violins swelled and a photo of the dog appeared onscreen. âI hope I survive this, but if I donât ever see you again, I love you â just know that.â

Of course, the New Zealand native did make it out of the Sean Evans-hosted series alive, but not before admitting: âThis is hurting my ego ⌠I thought Iâd be better.â Elsewhere in the clip, ROSĂ spoke about her âraw and honestâ upcoming debut solo album rosie and explained what unites her and BLACKPINK bandmates JENNIE, JISOO and LISA.
âThe one thing thatâs so strong about BLACKPINK is the fact that each one of us, we want such big things for ourselves and we work so hard everyday,â she said on the latter subject. âIâve never seen someone thatâs just like, âI just want to rest.â Even if weâve said that before, I donât think anyone means that. BLACKPINK is really hardworking.â
Ahead of rosieâs Dec. 6 release date, ROSĂ and Bruno Mars dropped a single titled âAPT.â in October. The track has since spent two weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200 and peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100.
As the star explained to Evans, âAPT.â was inspired by a Korean drinking game of the same name. âItâs one of many drinking games, but that seemed to be the one that all my friends in the studio were like vibing to,â ROSĂ said on Hot Ones. âI was like, âHuh, this is interestingâ ⌠I was really lucky enough to have Bruno jump on it. Craziest experience of my life.â

In her Hot Ones episode teaser clips that dropped Nov. 6, ROSĂ didnât hold back on her love for spice â though she wondered just how far she could go with the âWings of Death.â âI like spicy food,â she said, adding, âBut I donât know if I like spicy spicy.â

As the heat began to kick in, she joked, âBy the way, my tongue is built differently. Itâs built different.â Built different.â
Asked about the inspiration behind her new single âAPT.â featuring Bruno Mars, ROSĂ explained it was rooted in a playful cultural moment. âAPTâ is a tribute to a traditional Korean drinking game called âaparteuâ (or âapartmentâ in English), and itâs also the first single from her anticipated debut album, Rosie, set for release on Dec. 6.
âItâs a Korean drinking game APT, one, two, three, four, five, six,â she said. âWhoever gets the top takes the shot.â
Shifting to her craft, she also discussed her vocal technique, explaining the difference between chest and head voice. âIâve set the key too high,â she laughed, adding, âThatâs the difference, I guess, right?â
ROSĂâs latest hit is taking the music world by storm, smashing records left and right. The catchy tune has been dominating charts globally. In a massive debut, âAPT.â soared to the top spot on both Billboard Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. charts, and held its crown for two straight weeks.
Down Under, ROSĂâs Aussie fans have shown their love in spades. âAPT.â rocketed to No. 1 on the ARIA Singles Chart, making her the first solo female K-pop artist to conquer the Aussie charts. Not only that, but sheâs kept the top spot warm for multiple weeks â a feat not seen since PSYâs âGangnam Styleâ back in 2012.
In a recent PAPER Magazine interview, she discussed how online criticism inspired one of the albumâs most personal tracks, stating, âI realised how vulnerable and addicted I was to this [online] world and that craving for feeling like I wanted to be loved and understood.â
Born in Auckland and raised in Melbourne, ROSĂ moved to South Korea at 15 to pursue music, eventually joining BLACKPINK. The groupâs debut studio album The Album skyrocketed to No. 2 on the Billboard 200, the highest ever for a K-pop girl group. Born Pink dropped and made history as the first album by a female Korean act to hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
ROSĂ has also seen previous success as a solo artist. Her 2021 single âOn the Groundâ was the first song by a Korean solo artist to top both Billboard Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. charts. She has also ranked No. 79 on Billboardâs Artist 100 chart.

When host Sean Evans asked him about his teenage years âjamming outâ with soon-to-be fellow superstars like Timbaland, Missy Elliott, the Clipse and more, Williams that it felt like âkids having fun.â
He continued, âWe didnât know where it was going to end up. Thatâs the thing, falling in love with the process. Itâs not necessarily the âthere,â itâs the âgetting there,â itâs the âgoing,â itâs the process, itâs the journey.â
Later on in the interview, Evans listed off some of Williams collaborators, and challenged him to share his first thought about them in the studio. With Daft Punk, Williams noted that being in the studio with a ârobotâ is âeuphoric, because youâre around two absolute masters.â

Beck, Williams says, is âone of the most eclectic people with one of the deepest mental libraries of all kinds of records,â calling him a âwalking almanac.â He wrapped up by calling N.O.R.E. âso funny, bombastic with the energy he wants to evoke when heâs making a song.â
Beyond releasing his biographical Lego film, Piece by Piece, on Oct. 11, itâs gearing up to be an exciting next few months for Williams. The star will serve as a co-chair for the 2025 Met Gala among a group of Black men including Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky and honorary chair LeBron James.
This yearâs theme is âSuperfine: Tailoring Black Style,â which draws inspiration from Monica L. Millerâs 2009 book, Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity.
Williamsâ Something in the Water festival will also return in April 2025 after being postponed last month. âDearest Virginia, I love you with all my heart,â he wrote in a statement at the time. âNobody loves you more than I do. Virginia doesnât deserve better, Virginia deserves THE BEST. So SOMETHING IN THE WATER has to match that. It just isnât ready yet.â

Slipknotâs Corey Taylor isnât afraid of a heated disagreement with other rockers â but spicy hot wings are a different story.
On the latest episode of Hot Ones Versus posted Tuesday (Oct. 1), the frontman battled tastebud-burning chicken wings with bandmate Shawn Crahan, aka Clown â and yes, both musicians wore their signature spooky masks while chowing down. At one point, Taylor avoided having to take a spice-loaded bite by ranking three of his famous feuds with opponents Limp Bizkit, MGK (formerly Machine Gun Kelly) and Nickelback.
âIf I was going to say it with that ugly ego⌠at the top, I would put Limp Bizkit,â he began of the two bandsâ name-calling spat in the 2000s. âMy issues truly werenât even with Limp Bizkit, they were with Fred [Durst]. It was just about what Fred represented at the time, the things that were being said and the people in the band that were actually saying stuff about us.â

âI would put MGK in the middle,â Taylor continued of the âMy Exâs Best Friendâ musician, with whom he traded jabs throughout 2021. âBefore the beef, I did have respect for him and I liked his music. We butted heads ego-wise and creatively because of a song he and Travis [Barker] invited me to be on. Him and I are very similar, and I hope heâs figuring sât out.â

Finally, the âUnsaintedâ singer ranked his mutual trash-talking with Nickelbackâs Chad Kroeger in 2017 last. âHonestly, theyâre just a musical echo,â he said. âItâs just the same thing.â
âThereâs some stuff of theirs that I like,â Taylor added, making Crahan scoff.
Throughout the episode, Crahan also criticized the getups of other mask-wearing musicians â Daft Punk, Gwar and Marshmello â and revealed that his favorite âpop princessâ is Britney Spears. âReal deal,â the percussionist said of the âToxicâ singer. âSheâs a legend.â
Plus, the duo enjoyed a spontaneous 25th birthday party for their bandâs debut album Slipknot â which reached No. 51 on the Billboard 200 in 2000 â complete with a piĂąata. The group recently wrapped up the North American leg of its anniversary tour in September, and theyâre set to perform in Latin America and Europe later this year.

Whether itâs breakups or spicy wings, SZA isnât letting anything bug her â for the most part.
On the latest episode of First We Feastâs Hot Ones posted Thursday (Sept. 26), the Grammy winner opened up about her music, career and relationships in between bites of spicy wings, all while wearing alien-like prosthetics and a pair of antennae. âIâm just tired of being not a bug,â she explained of her costume choice.
While talking to host Sean Evans about which songs make her the most emotional to perform, SZA replied, ââNobody Gets Meâ because my ex-fiancĂŠ hates me so much, and itâs so unfortunate.â
âEvery time I sing it, itâs like, âDamn, what the fâk?’â she continued, adding that she also gets in her feels while singing Ctrl tracks âNormal Girl,â â20 Somethingâ and âDrew Barrymore,â which she says reminds her of seeing âthe boy you like ⌠fâkinâ on some other girlâ at a house party.
SZA has been open in the past about how her relationship with her ex has inspired her music, particularly âNobody Gets Me.â âThis particular song in entirety is a story about my ex-fiancĂŠ and how we went through all these arguments, and we broke up,â she told Hot 97 in December 2022. âI just felt like I was gonna be doomed to be in hell for the rest of my life because nobody understood me the way he did, and nobody motivated me the way he did.â

While speaking to Evans, who brought up when SZA told Billboard in 2023 that the success of her hit âKill Billâ âpissed [her] offâ because it was âsuper easyâ to write, the R&B star opened up about how she finds the music industry confusing because of how unpredictable it can be. âI never know whatâs happening,â she said on Hot Ones. âI be like, âI thought you liked this.â Then theyâre like, âNo, stupid, we hate this.’â
âItâs abusive, but itâs also very fulfilling and validating,â she added. âThe toxic [relationships] are the most fun.â
The interview comes ahead of SZAâs highly anticipated third album Lana, which will follow her critically acclaimed sophomore record SOS. The 2022 LP ruled at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 for 10 weeks, marking her first album to top the chart.
After sweating through increasingly spicy wings that led her to question Evansâ âsinister and insidiousâ intentions for the show, the âSnoozeâ singer gave a candid response when asked at the end of the episode to give fans a life update. âIâm going through a breakup, itâs hot as fâk,â she said.

Ariana Grande has complicated relationships with hot sauce and some of her old songs, but she powered through both on the latest episode of Hot Ones.
Appearing on the seriesâ season finale Thursday (Aug. 8), the pop star began by asking host Sean Evans for his expert opinion. âWhere do you think Iâll sit on the scale from DJ Khaled to Lorde?â she asked. âI do my homework.â
Grande went on to barely break a sweat while eating the spicy vegan wings, save for an inaudible burp here and there. She kept her composure even as the Scoville levels increased, but at one point she admitted, âI think Iâm learning that I donât like hot sauce.â
The Grammy winner also answered questions about her Billboard 200-topping new album, Eternal Sunshine, working with Max Martin and doing stunts on the set of the Wicked films, the first of which arrives this November. âThere was lots of bubble singing, which was very high up, and I wasnât harnessed â I was just kind of there,â she revealed. âI had a lot of stunty singing, but nothing compares to Cynthia Erivo.â

âWatching Cynthia in her harness with a broom, a hat, wig, corset, dress â the whole thing â flipping upside down, flying around the set, singing âDefying Gravityâ every take like itâs nothing ⌠just the most phenomenal thing Iâve ever seen,â Grande, who plays Glinda opposite Erivoâs Elphaba, continued. âWe had to do some really insane and beautiful things for this film.â
The âWe Canât Be Friendsâ vocalist went on to open up about the âdisheartening and disappointingâ experience of having her unreleased music leak online. âIt sucks,â she put it plainly. âAnd I am constantly trying to get to the bottom of like how people get stuff ⌠that is very frustrating and feels very dehumanizing, and then the other side is like but Iâm so grateful to be an artist that people care about and my fans want more of me so theyâre going to these extremes to steal and break in.â
Toward the end of the episode, Evans asked Grande whether sheâs tired of performing any of her old songs. The Victorious alum has been releasing music for more than a decade at this point, with nine of her songs reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 since her debut record, Yours Truly, dropped in 2013.
âThatâs a natural thing that all artists can relate to,â she replied. âThere was a time when it was hard for me to feel that same gratitude that I do now for certain songs and for the music ⌠becoming a pop star is insane at 19 or 20, and I think that experience was sort of married to some of the songs a little bit. Or some of the songs that are more emotional, the experience that inspired them can be married to the music. But with time and therapy, we sort of are able to re-embrace, so I feel just really proud and grateful and happy when i hear them, where as I used to maybe hear it and cry.â

Sabrina Carpenter is no stranger to spiciness in her lyrics, but in her chicken wings? She doesnât fare quite as well. Â
On the latest episode of First We Feastâs Hot Ones Thursday (July 11), the 25-year-old pop star answered questions about her skyrocketing career while eating hot chicken wings with host Sean Evans, and trying not to succumb to spice overload. Before the Scoville levels got too overwhelming, Carpenter addressed complaints about her Billboard Hot 100 top five hit âEspresso,â the main hook of which earned a barrage of memes when the track first dropped in April thanks to its slightly clunky syntax: âThatâs that me espresso.âÂ
âSo much of what I like is the punchline,â the singer told Evans. âIf people donât know the punchline, itâs like, waste. Thatâs how I feel about âme espresso.â Iâve heard a lot of people that were like, âShe shouldâve said, Thatâs that blonde espresso, duh.â And Iâm like, âWell, yes. That is another song as well that deserves its spot in the world, but this one for me ⌠âme espressoâ just felt like the right thing to say, and it rhymes with the line before it.âÂ
âI just think itâs so funny,â she continued, shrugging. âMaybe everyoneâs right.âÂ

The âPlease Please Pleaseâ artist also opened up about how the success of her Emails I Canât Send single âNonsenseâ â which she almost always performs with an NSFW improvised outro tacked on at the end â has given her confidence before putting her love of The Beatles to work in a round of trivia. It was shortly after Evans asked Carpenter about her affinity for covering other artistsâ songs during her live shows, however, that things started getting a little dicey.Â
âThat was so crazy ⌠You just want to scream,â she exclaimed, exhaling heavy sighs while trying not to yell. She tried to hold it in, but just a few seconds later, she let out a loud, pained, âOh my god!â Â
âItâs really, really hot,â she added with tears in her eyes. âOh my god, oh my god, oh my god. Has anyone ever sued you?âÂ
The episode comes about a month and a half ahead of Carpenterâs sixth studio album, Short Nâ Sweet, which drops Aug. 23. âNotice I didnât call it Short Nâ Spicy because I like sweet things better,â she quipped through tears at the very end of the interview.Â

MGK goes head-to-head with his friend and fellow musician Trippie Redd in the new episode, which turns the traditional Hot Ones interview show into a competition by making celebs eat increasingly hot wings every time they refuse to answer their rivalâs spicy questions.
In one question, Redd brings up MGKâs offer to pay Travis Kelce $1 million if heâll leave the Kansas City Chiefs to come play for his hometown Cleveland Browns football team. âBurn that bridge by saying three mean things about Taylor Swift,â the rapper dares Kelly, invoking the name of Kelceâs pop-superstar girlfriend.

âLadies and gentlemen, you have got to be out of your motherfâing mind if you think I want any smoke with that fanbase,â MGK says with a knowing smile. âAlso, Taylor is a saint and very nice to me, and Travis is my bro.â
âKiss her feet while youâre at it,â Redd teases his buddy, who responds: âSheâs very, very nice!â
Kelly (real name: Colson Baker) has known Kelce since their high school days as crosstown sports rivals growing up in the suburbs of Cleveland, Ohio. In addition to dodging the Swift question, MGK also answered his critics who thought the $1 million offer to Kelce was low. âI said I would give him $1 million spending money on top of whatever the NFL [gives him]. Iâm not the fâing NFL, so I obviously donât have to pay him $30 million or $40 million, whatever. I said Iâll give you a bonus.â
As Kelly eats his hot wings as punishment for skipping the question, he shows off his Swift knowledge, singing to himself, âTrouble, trouble, trouble,â from her 2012 Red single âI Knew You Were Trouble,â which peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100.
In addition to their Ohio connection, Kelly also performed at Travisâ inaugural Kelce Jam festival in Bonner Springs, Kansas, last April. Lil Wayne, 2 Chainz and Diplo will headline the 2024 event on May 18. And in February, after Kelce won the Super Bowl with the Chiefs, he and Swift took a photo with Kelly and his partner Megan Fox at a post-game party.

Spicy wings can be la tortura. Shakira found that out for herself when joining Sean Evans on his Hot Ones web series Thursday (April 4), where the pop star fought her way through painfully hot sauces while opening up about her older music â including what makes her cringe when listening to it now.
When asked by Evans which aspects of her earlier songs make her âwinceâ now that sheâs nearly 30 years into her career, Shakira replied, âso many things.â âI think I used to overdo the cries in my voice,â she continued, before replicating her old style: ââLo de lo de lo deâ â itâs too much. I think I was exaggerated. Too much, Shakira.â
âI noticed that after my pregnancies, my voice got thicker, more rounded, more full,â she added. âMy choices are more mature. I have evolved as a woman, as a person. My intellect has evolved.â

Soon afterward, the âShe Wolfâ singer tasted a hot sauce that was so intense, she had to submerge her tongue in a glass of milk for several seconds. âI feel like Iâm going to throw up,â she said, her eyes intermittently welling up with tears.
Luckily, she rallied, going on to reveal which of her songs sheâs most likely to hear fans shout at her in public: âHips Donât Lie.â
ââShakira! Do your hips lie?’â she mimicked. âIâm like, âI have other songs, you know.’â
The new episode comes a couple weeks after the superstar dropped her new album Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran, which recently debuted at No. 13 on the Billboard 200 and No. 1 on the Top Latin Albums chart. It features collaborations with Cardi B, Bizarrap, Rauw Alejandro, Karol G and more.
