The Holiday 100 chart ranks the top seasonal songs of all eras via the same formula used for the Billboard Hot 100, blending streaming, airplay and sales data, and runs during the holiday season (December-January). The Holiday 100 Songwriters and Producers charts will run during the same seasonal period as the Holiday 100.
Billboard’s weekly songwriter and producer charts are based on total points accrued by a songwriter and producer, respectively, for each attributed song that appears on a specific chart. The Holiday 100 Songwriters and Producers charts join Billboard’s 26 other songwriter and producer rankings, covering all “Hot”-named genre charts. These encompass the Hot 100 and the country, R&B/hip-hop, R&B, rap, rock & alternative, rock, alternative, hard rock, Latin, Christian, gospel and dance/electronic genres.
On the inaugural Holiday 100 Songwriters chart, Johnny Marks (who died in 1985 at age 75) rules thanks to seven songwriting credits on the Holiday 100. His seven placements encompass multiple recordings of “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” (which leads his haul at No. 2), “A Holly Jolly Christmas” and “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.”
Here’s a look at all seven of Marks’ songwriting credits on the latest Holiday 100:
Rank, Artist Billing, Title (co-writers in addition to Marks)No. 2, Brenda Lee, “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree”No. 4, Burl Ives, “A Holly Jolly Christmas”No. 17, Gene Autry, “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer”No. 27, Chuck Berry, “Run Rudolph Run” (Marvin Brodie)No. 40, Burl Ives, “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer”No. 44, Michael Bublé, “Holly Jolly Christmas”No. 82, LeAnn Rimes, “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree”
Thanks to holiday hits annually re-entering the Hot 100, Marks has also topped the all-genre Hot 100 Songwriters chart in each of the past three years, dating to the launch of Billboard’s songwriter and producer charts in 2019.
Rounding out the top five on Holiday 100 Songwriters, Meredith Willson places at No. 2, thanks to four charting versions of “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas”; George Michael follows at No. 3, thanks to Wham!’s “Last Christmas”; Irving Berlin ranks at No. 4, via “White Christmas” and “Happy Holiday/The Holiday Season”; and Mariah Carey starts at No. 5 powered by “All I Want for Christmas Is You.”
Lee Gillette (who died in 1981 at age 68) leads the inaugural Holiday 100 Producers chart, thanks to six production credits on the Holiday 100, led by Nat King Cole’s “The Christmas Song (Merry Christmas to You)” at No. 7 and Dean Martin’s “Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow” at No. 9.
Here’s a look at Gillette’s six production credits on the latest Holiday 100:
Rank, Artist Billing, Title (co-producers in addition to Gillette)No. 7, Nat King Cole, “The Christmas Song (Merry Christmas to You)”No. 9, Dean Martin, “Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow”No. 18, Nat King Cole, “Deck the Halls”No. 48, Dean Martin, “Baby, It’s Cold Outside”No. 55, Nat King Cole, “O Come All Ye Faithful”No. 91, Nat King Cole, “Joy to the World”
Rounding out the top five of Holiday 100 Producers, Owen Bradley is No. 2 (“Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree,” “Jingle Bell Rock”); Robert Mersey, No. 3 (“It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year,” “Happy Holiday/The Holiday Season,” “Silver Bells,” “Do You Hear What I Hear?” “The First Noel”); Phil Spector, No. 4 (“Sleigh Ride,” “Christmas [Baby Please Come Home],” “Happy Xmas [Was Is Over],” “Winter Wonderland”); and David Foster, No. 5 (multiple covers recorded by Michael Bublé).
Santa’s elves work hard, but Ariana Grande and Kelly Clarkson work harder. On Friday (Dec. 2), the two singers and former Voice coaches released a live recording of their holiday duet “Santa, Can’t You Hear Me,” originally performed last year during Clarkson’s NBC Christmas special.
The new live version of “Santa, Can’t You Hear Me” serves as a follow up to the studio recording featured on Clarkson’s album When Christmas Comes Around…, released in October 2021. Peaking at No. 22 on the Billboard 200, the project marked the three-time Grammy winner’s second holiday record, following 2013’s Wrapped In Red.
The December after When Christmas Comes Around… dropped, Clarkson invited Grande to perform the track with her during her NBC holiday music special, fittingly titled Kelly Clarkson Presents: When Christmas Comes Around. Amy Poehler, Leslie Odom Jr., Jay Leno, Melissa McCarthy and Brett Eldredge were also featured guests on the program, which included several musical performances from the “Stronger” singer.
The audio from this performance is what now serves as the new live edition of “Santa, Can’t You Hear Me.” During the duet last year, Grande and Clarkson wore stunning white and purple gowns, respectively, and sang joyfully together while supported by a shimmering orchestra of string musicians, backup singers, percussionists and brass.

The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade has been an iconic holiday event for more than 90 years, and in recent memory, it has brought some of music’s shining stars and up-and-coming acts along for the float- and balloon-filled ride.
Ahead of the 2022 parade, which features Gloria Estefan, Fitz & the Tantrums, Ziggy Marley, Joss Stone, Jordin Sparks and Betty Who, take a trip down memory lane with some big-name artists who (you may have forgotten) once graced a Thanksgiving float.
Every year at the end of November, Americans gather around tables short and long with family and friends to enjoy a meal with those for which they are most thankful. We take note of our blessings and privileges — and make more happy memories to be grateful for in the future.
Of course, that spirit of thankfulness shouldn’t come only once a year. We should always take stock of all we have to appreciate every morning and every night, and if you need some musical motivation to get you in the grateful mood, we have some suggestions.
There are so many people you can be thankful for. You can be grateful to a romantic partner who saw the best in you even when you didn’t believe in yourself; a long-time friend who’s always had your back; a family member who deserves a bit of praise and a reminder that they made you who you are; or even an ex-lover or enemy whose tough words helped you become all the stronger for having survived them.
Whoever you have in mind, there’s something on this list to dedicate to the people who shaped you that’s worth singing out loud in the shower, in the car and all over town.
From Ariana Grande to Alanis Morissette, Celine Dion to Ozuna, FKA Twigs, Backstreet Boys and DJ Khaled, these 20 songs will have you singing “thank you, thank you, thank you.” (And yes, that last bit is a hint about a certain song by Natalie Merchant.)
‘Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house, not a creature was stirring — not even a “quiz mouse.” Camila Cabello has been going viral for the, well, untraditional way she pronounced the word “Christmas” in her cover of “I’ll Be Home for Christmas,” and now she’s joining in on the fun.

Cabello posted a TikTok Monday night (Nov. 21), making fun of herself by acting out a hilarious skit. In one frame, she plays her own voice coach, and tells herself: “We’re just going to practice some phrasing.”
“I’ll be home for Christmas,” she sings, before asking the second Camila to try it for herself.
“I’ll be home for Quismois,” repeats the second Camila.
“Me before recording my version of I’ll be home for christmas (quismois),” she captioned the video, which earned 8.5 million views and 1.5 million likes in just 14 hours.
The “Bam Bam” singer’s TikTok comes after a flurry of other posts on social media making fun of her “Quismois” pronunciation — or “Quiz Mice,” as some like to spell it — that began after a video of Cabello performing her Mariachi version of “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” last year began circulating online. She originally released the track with Amazon Music in 2021, and this year announced that it would be made available on all platforms (and yes, she says “Christmas” like that in the official recording, too).
The joke snowballed as more and more people hopped onto the trend of making “Quismois” memes of their own. One TikToker made a video dancing to Cabello’s cover, and wrote: “Pov the quiz mice when they find out Camilla Cabello will be home for them.”
Another joked that “CAMILLA CABELLO WILL BE HOME FOR QUIZNOS THIS YEAR.”

As usual, the Christmas in Rockefeller Center special is set to have an all-star lineup of major performers including Alicia Keys, Jimmie Allen, Andrea Bocelli along with Matteo Bocelli and Virginia Bocelli, David Foster and Katharine McPhee, Brett Eldredge, Mickey Guyton, the Muppets of Sesame Street, Dan + Shay, The Shindellas, Louis York and more.
Additionally, Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani will perform their festive, romantic duet, “You Make It Feel Like Christmas,” at the 90th annual event. “This is one of those things you grew up hearing about,” Stefani told Today. “I was from Los Angeles, so I never went to New York when I was a little girl. So it’s even a bigger deal for me to be here and be part of this.”
The Christmas in Rockefeller Center special, hosted by Today‘s Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb, Al Roker and Craig Melvin, airs on Nov. 30 starting at 8 p.m. ET on NBC. After the ceremony, the tree will be lit in Rockefeller Center in New York City every day from 6 a.m. to 12 a.m.

Christmas is right around the corner, and Amazon Music is helping fans get into the spirit early. On Thursday (Nov. 10), the music streaming service announced that Lizzo, Kane Brown, Givēon and Lauren Spencer Smith are among the artists who are covering beloved holiday songs exclusively for Amazon Music leading up to the most wonderful time of year.
Lizzo will be taking on Stevie Wonder’s “Someday at Christmas,” while Brown will take a crack at the Elvis Presley classic “Blue Christmas.” Givēon will tackle “The First Noel,” while Smith will do a special version of Wham!’s signature holiday hit “Last Christmas.”
“I chose to cover ‘Someday at Christmas’ not just because it’s a classic, but because it’s a reminder to us that almost 60 years later, we are still fighting for peace, compassion, and equality,” Lizzo said in a statement. “A friendly reminder to spread love and kindness this holiday season.”
Of his choice to cover Presley, Brown said, “We have Christmas music playing at our house all throughout the season, and this year I’m excited that my daughters will get to hear my voice on one of the most timeless classics made famous by the legendary Elvis Presley. I hope my version puts everyone in the holiday spirit.”
Additional artists who are part of this year’s Amazon Music holiday covers include Stormzy, dvsn, Maisie Peters and more. While some of the covers are currently available to stream on Amazon music, more will be rolled out through the holiday season. See the full list of original holiday tracks from Amazon Music below.
