Donald Trump has suffered a series of legal setbacks, including one that finds the former president and business mogul along with his codefendants on the hook for a $464 million fine. Trump has until March 25 to satisfy his debt or provide a bond in the full amount, which could lead to seizures of some of his business holdings and has prompted users on X to get the #trumpisbroke hashtag trending.
Donald Trump, 77, was recently ordered by New York Judge Arthur Engoron to pay a $355 million fine after it was ruled that Trump filed financial statements that failed to show the true value of his properties and other holdings in the civil fraud case. With interest, Trump owes $455 million overall and is appealing the decision according to a report from Courthouse News Service.
If Trump is unable to secure a cash bond for monies owed or satisfies the debut, New York Attorney General Letitia James says that her office will consider seizing properties owned by Trump.
Trump’s legal team has submitted a request to pay a $100 million bond in a bid to appeal the decision, with his side also mentioning that their client might have to sell off some real estate assets to pay the fine. New York Supreme Court Associate Justice Anil Singh denied the $100 million bond offer and expects Trump to pay the full amount he owes.
In the filing of the appeal, Trump’s lawyer wrote, “The exorbitant and punitive amount of the judgment coupled with an unlawful and unconstitutional blanket prohibition on lending transactions would make it impossible to secure and post a complete bond.”
As a result of legal happenings this week, some online are assuming that Donald Trump is broke thus sparking the hashtag. Further, Trump is in the middle of vying for the GOP’s nomination for this year’s presidential race where he remains a frontrunner.
Check out the comments from the #trumpisbroke hashtag below.

Drake is getting blasted on X, formerly Twitter, for showing online support for the currently incarcerated Tory Lanez. In an Instagram Story post, Drake calls for the freedom of Tory Lanez which has sparked a barrage of online criticism.
Drake, 37, shared an image of Tory Lanez to his Story feed with the words under the photo reading “3 You,” which many assume to be suggesting freedom for Lanez. Lanez, 31, was found guilty in 2022 of felony assault for shooting and injuring Megan Thee Stallion. In August of 2023, Lanez was officially sentenced to 10 years behind bars in connection to the matter.
Several Hip-Hop figures and fans on social media seemed to side with Lanez during his legal ordeal with Megan Thee Stallion, with many believing that the shooting incident never took place among other unproven yet heavily discussed theories.
There have also been shots taken via songs towards Megan Thee Stallion, including a perceived shot from Drake on the song “Circo Loco” from his joint album with 21 Savage, Her Loss. However, 21 Savage claims that the Canadian superstar was not pointing his verse in that direction.
Despite that clarification from the Atlanta rapper, some believe that Drizzy holds some manner of animosity towards women rappers and that his support of Tory Lanez qualifies those assumptions. We’ve got reactions from X below.

Mea Culpa, the latest film from Tyler Perry, was released to Netflix over the weekend starring Kelly Rowland in the lead role alongside co-star Trevante Rhodes. While the film catapulted to the top of the streamer’s Top 10 listings for movies, fans on X are handing in mixed reactions.
Mea Culpa follows the tale of Mea Harper (Rowland), a criminal defense attorney who begins representing artist Zyair Malloy (Rhodes) who is accused of killing his girlfriend. Without delving too much into the plot, Mea and her husband Kal Hawthorne (Sean Sagar) are going through some relationship issues involving another woman.
Amid her troubles at home, Mea takes on Zyair as a client, who is being prosecuted by her brother-in-law, District Attorney Raw Hawthorne, the brother of her husband. Zyair, using his charm, begins to seduce Mea and all hell breaks loose from there according to what we see in the trailer for the film.
Tyler Perry joined forces with Netflix as a content partner back in October of last year and the multiyear deal will see not only movies from the celebrated director and screenwriter but also several series as well.
The issue that some online have with Mea Culpa is some of the plot twists within the film, and others have been critical of Rowland’s acting skills. Others are also saying that it’s time that Perry allows someone else to handle his scripts, a common refrain from detractors of his work.

Cam Newton might not be slinging footballs on the gridiron these days but that doesn’t mean the 2015 NFL MVP hasn’t kept himself in good shape. A video surfaced of the free-agent quarterback getting into a bit of a brawl but what was most impressive is that his hat never left his head nor did he seem that bothered.
Cam Newtown, 34, was in Atlanta for a 7-on-7 football event over the weekend as reported by Deadline with the former Carolina Panthers and New England Patriots star in town with his C1N 7v7 squad. According to reports and accounts online, a group of individuals appear to shove the still-physically imposing Newton around. It hasn’t been confirmed but it appears the potential assailants were from Top Shelf Performance, a group that had teams playing in the inaugural We Ball Sports 7v7 tournament.
The video shows Newton, decked out in an elaborate hat, standing tall above the group as the fight moved from inside a pop-up tent to another area. Newtown and his hat held their own against the group before a security guard and other individuals came through and pushed the throng back as tempers settled.
Details are scant and Newton nor anyone from the We Ball Sports side has offered a public statement regarding the incident.
On X, formerly Twitter, the video of the incident has gone viral with many remarking on the sheer size of Cam Newton and noting with good humor that his hat was just as unbothered as he was. We’ve got the best of the reactions from X below.

Kid Rock, the former struggle rapper turned struggle rocker, has shown and proven to have deep ties to MAGA and all things Donald Trump, and now Jason Aldean is roped into the nonsense. The pair, in a show of faux solidarity with Trump, were thought to be skipping New York during a make-believe joint tour because of a satire news site but some MAGA nutballs took the bait.
Kid Rock, 53, fresh off sneaking in Bud Lights when he thinks the cameras aren’t looking, and Jason Aldean both saw their names trending due in part to an article from political news satire site, The Dunning-Kruger Times, which has fooled some of the MAGA faithful before by mocking their blind allegiance to Donald Trump.
From The Dunning-Kruger Times:
“We support 45,” the tour’s website announced, “Therefore, we won’t be bringing the tour to the state that has treated him so poorly.”
The tour was set to play more than a dozen dates in New York, adding untold millions to local economies and giving patriotic Americans living in a liberal nightmare the chance to have a night to themselves.
MAGA goofball Brigitte Gabriel wrote of the fake news on X (formerly Twitter), “Kid Rock and Jason Aldean have responded to New York’s extreme attack on President Trump by REMOVING the state from their “You Can’t Cancel America Tour. This is a BIG DEAL and a sign of the silent majority rising again!”
Gabriel wasn’t the only one who took the news as facts, with folks reacting to the news on both sides not realizing the true nature of The Dunning-Kruger Times and their satirical bent that would remind some of The Onion and other related publications.
Check out the reactions from all sides below.

Benzino found himself back in the conversation on the heels of the still-brewing feud he’s been engaged in for years with Eminem and he elaborated on the beef in a recent stop on the set of Drink Champs. During the chat, Benzino appears to have an emotional breakdown behind his ongoing battle with Eminem, causing some to believe he was intoxicated during the moment.
Benzino, reportedly 58, and Eminem, 51, have been throwing verbal jabs at one another over the years with Slim Shady starting this year’s salvo on “Doomsday Pt. 2” from Lyrical Lemonade’s All Is Yellow compilation album. On that track, Em took shots at the Boston music executive and his daughter, rapper Coi Leray.
Shortly after, Benzino returned fire with “Rap Elvis” and has been goading Em to verbally retaliate but nothing has occurred thus far. However, during his Drink Champs chat with N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN, ‘Zino comes clean and says that he doesn’t really have a true issue with Eminem and would even welcome a chat, something he’s expressed before.
“I don’t have nothing against Eminem. He can rap but I care about us more. I don’t want to talk about it no more,” He said. “My daughter came to industry figuring ‘I gotta be cool with Eminem because everybody is against my dad.’”
For those who witnessed the moment in question, some have voiced concern for Benzino while others are hoping the two will finally move on beyond their issues and have that long-awaited face-to-face conversation.

Vince Staples has long established himself as not only a talented musician but also one of the wittiest minds in entertainment. Vince Staples is currently basking in the early positive chatter around his new Netflix series, The Vince Staples Show, with some saying this could be the start of an epic series run for the rapper.
Vince Staples, 30, has long been considered one of the brightest minds both in music and other forms of media due to his sharp intellect, command of language, and ability to remain deadpan during the humorous retellings of his life. The Vince Staples Show, in that regard, is a direct look into the mind of Staples, which puts him in a variety of zany situations that he somehow navigates through his mental savvy and the fact that he’s a famous figure.
Kenya Barris of Black-ish fame serves as one of the executive producers for the show alongside Corey Smyth and showrunner Maurice Williams. The writing room gets a boost from Staples himself, Williams as mentioned earlier, Winter Coleman, and Crystal Jenkins.
The Vince Staples Show follows Staples around his hometown “The Beach” which we can safely assume is based in his native Long Beach, Calif. His character is semi-famous but still very connected to street life and adjacently finds Staples in the middle of some surreal moments that only could work in this medium.
Stapes isn’t new to acting as he’s made an appearance on the hit sitcom Abbott Elementary, along with other roles over the years. Fans of Abbott Elementary should get a kick out of Staples’ show during a key moment.
On X, formerly Twitter, Vince Staples had his name trending with fans celebrating the genius of the program while noting that he also is urging folks to demand a second season of the show. Based on this reaction, that appears to be in the bag.

Nicole Fegan, a defense attorney whose client was connected to the Young Stoner Life list of codefendants, was arrested on unrelated gang charges on Friday (Feb. 16) in Georgia. Fegan, who has several videos online of her discussing her career and connection to clients, is facing multiple gang-related charges that is not connected to the YSL matter despite the chatter online.
The arrest of Nicole Fegan is a fast-developing story so we’ll try to pack in as much as we know currently. Fegan was charged back in February of last year after making contact with the suspect of a Sept. 27, 2022 shooting case that left one man dead.
As local outlet WSB-TV reports, Fegan was arrested for contacting the male suspect in the aforementioned shooting, which contained two victims, in Northwest Atlanta. Fegan was arrested in Gwinnett County and will be transported to Fulton County based on warrants that highlighted she was facing charges of participating in criminal street gang activity and criminal solicitation to commit the offense of tampering with evidence.
Police told WSB-TV that Fegan contacted the suspect by phone but was not part of their legal team thus sparking the warrants for arrest. Fegan alerted the man that there were warrants out for his arrest and that she found out about the warrants during a hearing while instructing the suspect to rid himself of his phone so he couldn’t be tracked digitally.
Fegan did not represent Young Thug in the YSL RICO case. Her client, Tenquarius Mender, had his case split from the wider YSL trial. That said, the arrest of Fegan has caused a stir online with some believing it will have some impact on the YSL RICO trial.
On X, formerly Twitter, the reactions have been pouring in. We’ve got them listed below.
