The inaugural Evolution Festival in St. Louis, Missouri will bring rock, hip-hop, blues and country sounds to town on August 26-27 with headliners Brandi Carlile, the Black Keys, the Black Crowes, Brittany Howard and Ben Harper & the Innocent Criminals. The festival from producers Contemporary Presentations and the Just Listen Company — along with co-executive producers Steven Schankman and Joe Litvag — will feature more than a dozen performers taking the stage in Forest Park under the banner: “This is our town. This is our time. This is our EVOLUTION!”

Among the other acts on the bill are: Ice Cube, Morgan Wade, Cautious Clay, Michigander, Modern English, Nikki Lane, The Sugarhill Gang, The Nude Party, Smidley, Carriers, The Knuckles, Yard Eagle and Punk Lady Apple. The festival will take place in Forest Park at Langenberg Field and the Boathouse, located between the Muny (St. Louis Municipal Opera Theatre) and the Dwight Davis Tennis Center.
“St. Louis is home. My partner Joe and I are both born and raised here, and we’ve both always worked hard to create unforgettable live entertainment experiences here for our hometown community,” said co-exec producer Schankman. “We both agreed that there is something missing here, an event that will welcome everyone from our great city to come together to celebrate our diversity, inclusion, and to offer a renewed focus on our musical culture and the arts. Evolution Festival does just that, and this event will not only create long-lasting memories, but it will be a strong economic driver for the city, the region, and the state for years to come, as well.”
The fest will also focus on bourbon and BBQ, with pit masters “Phil the Grill” Johnson and James “Boatright’s BBQ” on hand for the weekend that will also feature award-winning BBQ from a number of national, regional and local chefs. A portion of proceeds will benefit Forest Park Forever, a non-profit conservancy helping to maintain and sustain Forest Park; the festival will also work with St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital through Music Gives to raise money and awareness for the fight against childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases.

Also confirmed on the bill is West Coast Get Down, St. Paul and The Broken Bones, Digable Planets, Poncho Sanchez, Aziza, Soul Rebels with Big Freedia, Samara Joy, Lionel Loueke and Gretchen Parlato, Boukman Eksperyans, Butcher Brown and many others.

Hosted by Arsenio Hall and presented by the Los Angeles Philharmonic Assn., the two-day fest celebrates its 43rd year at the Hollywood Bowl.
Sax virtuoso Kamasi Washington, winner of the inaugural 2016 American Music Prize for his triple-CD odyssey, The Epic, is co-curator of the fest alongside legendary keyboardist Herbie Hancock, the LA Phil’s creative chair for jazz.
“I was thrilled when the LA Phil asked me to co-curate this festival with Kamasi and explore his extraordinary artistic vision,” comments Hancock, a 14-time Grammy Award winner. “Our celebration this year includes so many artists—both emerging and established—at defining moments in their musical journeys.”
Together, “we hope to create community and connection through the music we make and leave audiences feeling uplifted and inspired.” Hancock won’t perform at the fest; his next LA Phil concert is Sunday, April 2 at Walt Disney Concert Hall.
Adds Washington said, “Herbie is one of the greatest musicians to ever live and I am so grateful to be working with him on this special show. Herbie and I have been working with the LA Phil team to create a one-of-a-kind experience that we hope will leave the audience with excitement, joy, life, soul and most of all great music.”

Wireless Festival announced its 2023 lineup Wednesday (Jan. 25), featuring headliners Travis Scott, Playboi Carti and D-Block Europe.
The three-day festival will be held at London’s Finsbury Park from July 7-9, 2023. The London summer festival will also feature emerging and established R&B and hip-hop acts such as Lil Uzi Vert, Metro Boomin, Latto, Ice Spice, Headie One, Bryson Tiller, Joey Bada$$, FLO, Mariah the Scientist, Lil Durk, Lil Tjay, Popcaan, Glorilla and many more, as not every name on the lineup has been revealed.
50 Cent is listed as the special guest, while DJ Target, Kenny Allstar, Nadia Jae, Remi Burgz, Seani B and Tiffany Calver are the festivities’ hosts.

He sold out both shows at London’s O2 arena and, shortly after, teased his upcoming studio album Utopia on social media. Carti is also expected to release an album this year, tentatively titled Music.

Afro Nation, the world’s biggest music festival focused on Afrobeats music, is coming to the continental U.S. for the first time this year. Afrobeats giants Burna Boy and Wizkid will headline its latest two-day festival in Miami in May.
Following the success of its 2022 Afro Nation festivals in Portugal, Puerto Rico and Ghana, the inaugural Afro Nation Miami 2023 will unite the African and Caribbean diaspora at LoanDepot Park on May 27 and 28, 2023.
The upcoming festival will celebrate and highlight the best in Afrobeats, reggae, dancehall, hip-hop, amapiano, soca and other Black-led musical genres. The first wave of performers who have been announced include Rema, Asake, Beenie Man, CKay, BNXN (formerly known as Buju), Dadju, Franglish, Black Sherif, Nelson Freitas, Gyakie and Nissi. Major League DJz and Uncle Waffles will headline the Piano People stage.
Tickets will go on sale starting, Friday at 1 p.m. ET at USA.AfroNation.com. Register at the site to gain access to the special presale.
In March of last year, 40,000 people attended Afro Nation Puerto Rico 2022, its first festival in North America that was headlined by Wizkid and Megan Thee Stallion. In that same month, Afro Nation partnered with Billboard to create the first-ever U.S. chart for Afrobeats music. The U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart ranks the 50 most popular Afrobeats songs in the country based on a weighted formula incorporating official streams on both subscription and ad-supported tiers of leading audio and video music services, plus download sales from top music retailers. Afro Nation recently produced its Ghana-based festival in December.
Afro Nation Portugal 2023 is also set to take place in Portimão from June 28-30, and its lineup has yet to be announced.

Chance The Rapper and Vic Mensa launched the inaugural edition of their Black Star Line festival in Accra, Ghana over the weekend with an all-star concert featuring sets from Erykah Badu, Dave Chappelle, T-Pain, Jeremih, Sarkodie, Tobe Nwigwe, Asakaa Boys and M.anifest.
According to a release, Friday night’s festival drew 52,000 fans to historic Black Star Square, the monument to Ghanians becoming the firs Sub-Saharan African country to free itself from colonialism in 1957. “The Black Star Line Festival is more than just a celebration of Black culture and music, it’s a chance for the Diaspora to come together as a community and remind ourselves of the power that lies within us,” Chance said in a statement. “It’s an opportunity to honor the legacy of those who came before us, and to inspire and uplift each other. It’s a historic event and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for the Black Star Line Festival.”
The festival’s title was inspired by civil rights leader Marcus Garvey’s Black Star Line, which was founded in 1919 and operated by Black people who helped link global shipping and tourism opportunities between America, the Caribbean and Africa.
The weekend of events included conversations with Mensa and Chance, skate sessions and other art and cultural gatherings around town, as well as the jam-packed concert that had the acts performing on a stage featuring a gigantic black star front and center.
Garvey also inspired Chance’s music video “ YAH Know, ” featuring King Promise, and his upcoming album Star Line Gallery, which is expected for release this year.

Welcome to Rockville announced the lineup for its 2023 festival on Wednesday (Dec. 14), including Slipknot, Tool, Avenged Sevenfold and Pantera.
Next year’s iteration of the hard rock festival will take place May 18 to May 21 at the Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Fla. Slipknot will headline the first day of the event with Rob Zombie, Queens of the Stone Age, Puscifer, Trivium, Bullet For My Valentine, Black Veil Brides and more are also on the roster.
Joining Avenged Sevenfold on day two will be Evanescence, Hardy, I Prevail, Motionless In White, Asking Alexandria and Sleeping with Sirens while Godsmack, Alice Cooper, Chevelle, Alter Bridge, Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Evening, Knocked Loose and others will hit the stage on day three ahead of Pantera’s headlining set.
Finally, Tool will round out the headliners on day four with Deftones, Incubus, The Mars Volta and Coheed & Cambria also on the slate.
“We are so excited to be bringing this fantastic lineup to Welcome to Rockville,” said festival producer Danny Wimmer in a statement. “Our fans have been wanting Pantera and along with one of Avenged Sevenfold’s first live shows in five years, crowd favorite Slipknot, AND one of the greatest rock bands of all time, Tool, we are delivering a jam-packed weekend to the ‘The World Center of Rock.’ Can’t wait to see everyone in May!”

SEVENTEEN Takes On the “Bloody Mary” Challenge
Before stepping onstage, SEVENTEEN’s Joshua, Mingyu and Dino chatted with Billboard‘s Tetris Kelly before flawlessly executing the dance challenge inspired by Netflix’s Wednesday, nailing the viral choreography to the tune of Lady Gaga‘s “Bloody Mary.” The clip even got reposted by Emma Myers, who plays Enid in the series.

One thing about the Free Nationals, is that they are masters of their craft. They certainly didn’t need any guests to make their set great, but adding India Shawn amplified the performance thanks to her effortlessly smooth vocal ability and charming stage presence. SEVENTEEN’s Entire Set
All thirteen members of SEVENTEEN took the stage too the sound of cheers from Carat, who had been waiting at the LA3C stage since doors opened to see their favorite guys — and they didn’t disappoint. From precisely synchronized dances and bursting onstage pyrotechnics to harmonized vocals and sleek outfits, the K-pop group kept the energy high with hits like “HOT,” “Left & Right” and “Aju Nice,” which they repeated six times due to audience demand.
Snoop Dogg’s “The Next Episode” Performance
While Snoop performed a slew of hits during his set, including “Drop It Like It’s Hot,” “All I Do Is Win,” “Nuthin’ But a ‘G’ Thang,” and “I Wanna Love You,” there’s nothing quite like hearing the King of LA perform his ultimate Dr. Dre collab, “The Next Episode,” at a Los Angeles festival celebrating everything abou the City of Angels.
Lil Baby’s Headlining Set
While Lil Baby stepped in for Megan Thee Stallion as the LA3C day one headliner, the rapper still brought the heat. The star pulled out all his top tracks, keeping the crowd just as pumped as he was with songs like “Drip Too Hard” and “Freestyle.”
The star-studded lineup for the 2023 Primavera Sound Festival was unveiled on Monday (Nov. 29), topped by Kendrick Lamar, Rosalía, Depeche Mode, Blur and Halsey. The event that will take place in both Barcelona (June 1-3) at Ciudad del Rock in Arganda Del Rey and Madrid (June 8-10) at the Parc Del Forum and also feature sets from Ghost, Darkside, Le Tigre, Turnstile, Sparks, Pusha T, Baby Keem, Skrillex, Bad Religion, The Mars Volta, Bad Gyal, Maneskin, St. Vince, the War on Drugs and many more.

In addition, the Pet Shop Boys will play Wednesday’s (May 31) free show with Jake Bugg, Confidence man and La Paloma. Other acts slated to take the stage include: Japanese Breakfast, PinkPanthress, Christine and the Queens, Arlo Parks, The Voidz, Alex G, Built to Spill, The Moldy Peaches, Bleachers, Julia Jacklin, Caroline Polachek, Maggie Rogers, My Morning Jacket, Tokischa, Death Grips and more.
One-day and multi-day tickets will go on sale on Thursday (Dec. 1) at 12 p.m CET; more information on tickets here. Festival organizers announced earlier this year that 2023’s event would take place in Barcelona and Madrid for the first time, saying that the cities will “mirror” each other on consecutive summer weekends.
“Look for yourself in the Primavera Sound 2023 line-up… and find yourself,” organizers said in a statement in describing the mirror-image lineups. “Because we assure you that you are there. After twenty editions, the festival is the mirror in which the community that will come from near and far to Barcelona and for the first time to Madrid next June looks at itself and recognizes itself, but after everything it has experienced, this reflection goes in two directions, marking the richest musical itinerary we can think of: Primavera Sound also looks for and finds itself in its own audience.”

Organizers for the Innings Festival announced the lineup for the fifth annual edition of the Tempe, Ariz.-based fest on Wednesday (Oct. 26), with Green Day and Eddie Vedder headlining.
The two-day festival will take place Feb. 25 and 26, 2023, at Tempe Beach and Tempe Arts Park. Other acts confirmed over the two dates include Weezer, The Black Crowes, The Offspring and The Pretty Reckless on Saturday and Marcus Mumford, The Revivalists, Mt. Joy and The Head and the Heart on Sunday.
Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness, The Glorious Sons, Paris Jackson, Annie DiRusso, Umphrey’s McGee, Magic City Hippies, Heartless Bastards and Hazel English will round out the 18 bands and artists participating in the baseball-themed festival. Additionally, Jake Peavy will host an “All-Star Baseball Jam” and Off the Mound featuring Ryan Dempster will will host an on-site talk show during the event. Numerous Major League Baseball stars will make appearances over the weekend like Randy Johnson, Dontrelle Willis, Grady Sizemore, Kevin Mitchell, Vince Coleman, Bret Boone, Vinny Castilla, Matt Williams, Edgar Martinez, Mike Cameron and more.
General admission, GA+, Platinum and VIP tickets for one or two days will go on sale Thursday (Oct. 27) at 10 a.m. PT on the festival’s official website. Hopeful attendees can also sign up for the official Innings Festival email list or SMS text alerts to get updates on the event.
Next year, Green Day is also confirmed to headline the second-ever When We Were Young Festival in Las Vegas alongside the newly reunited Blink-182. Vedder recently covered The Beatles’ cheeky cut “Her Majesty” with his Pearl Jam bandmates to honor the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.

Avril Lavigne is out, Death Cab is in. Organizers of Las Vegas’ When We Were Young festival announced on Tuesday (Oct. 25) that the third day of the all-star event on Saturday (Oct. 29) has lost the “Sk8er Boi” singer due to “unforeseen circumstances” and gained Death Cab For Cutie in her stead.
“We are excited to share that Death Cab for Cutie and Underoath have been added to Sat’s lineup,” organizers tweeted. “We had the best time on Sun with @AvrilLavigne. Due to unforeseen circumstances, she is unable to join us on Oct. 29th at WWWY. We will miss you Avril!”
Saturday’s show is technically the second day of WWWY, since organizers were forced to cancel last weekend’s opening day (Oct. 22) due to concerns over high winds. The nostalgic pop-punk fest at the Las Vegas Festival Grounds was scheduled to feature a massive lineup that included Paramore, My Chemical Romance, Taking Back Sunday, Lavigne, AFI and Jimmy Eat World.
Following strong ticket sales for the Oct. 22 edition, promoter Live Nation added dates with the same lineup on Sunday (Oct. 23) and this Saturday. Lavigne’s Sunday set was one of the highlights of WWWY, with the singer joined by All Time Low singer/guitarist Alex Gaskarth and lead guitarist Jack Barakat on a cover of Blink-182’s “All the Small Things.”
Green Day and Blink have already been announced as headliners for the Oct. 21, 2023 edition of WWWY, alongside 30 Seconds to Mars, Good Charlotte, The Offspring, All Time Low, Something Corporate, Yellowcard, Sum 41, Simple Plan, Pierce the Veil, Thrice, Plain White Tees, The Veronicas, The Ataris and more.
