Sometimes it rains, sometimes it pours. For Cynthia Erivo, it’s pouring, in spectacular fashion.

The award-winning actress, singer, and producer is, of course, reprising her role as Elphaba in Wicked: For Good, the sequel to 2024 feature film Wicked, which raked in nearly $750 million at the worldwide box office, the best showing ever an adaptation for a Broadway musical.

That’s for starters. The Nigerian-British star penned the newly-published autobiography “Simply More,” she’s the cover star on Britain’s GQ, and her voice is still “missing in action,” the fallout from all the promo, the extensive singing and the airmiles put in for Wicked: For Good, which arrives Friday, Nov. 21 in theaters.

Erivo stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday night (Nov. 19) for a quiet chat about her busy schedule.

For her work on stage and screen, Erivo has won a Tony, Emmy and this week she landed two Grammy Award nominations for Wicked: one for “Defying Gravity” (with Ariana Grande) in the best pop duo/group performance category, and another for “Be Okay” in the best arrangement, instrumental or a cappella category.

“I didn’t even know we could be nominated for that,” she told Fallon. “I didn’t know we could be eligible.”

Fallon also coaxed Erivo into ranking her favorite songs from Wicked, a project not far removed from being asked to choose your favorite kids, she remarked. And she discussed the origins of that meme (it’s a story of a lost hat, with a happy ending) and recreated it for the moment.

Universal‘s Wicked: For Good should provide a Thanksgiving feast, somewhere in the order of $120 million-plus domestically and upwards of $200 million worldwide, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

With those numbers, Jon M. Chu’s film would bank the best start for a Broadway musical adaptation ever. By trying to manage expectations, the studio has suggested anything around $115 million in North America would be huge result.

You never quite know when — or how — your 15 minutes will come along. Just ask Scott Kelly, a regular chap who became an Internet sensation this week when his resume blew up at a Jonas Brothers concert.

During the JoBros’ show Sunday, Nov. 9 at KeyBank Center in Buffalo, NY, a recruitment consultant was busted reviewing an apparent candidate’s resume, as Nick, Joe and Kevin Jonas performed on stage.

TikTok user Jen captured the moment and shared it with the caption, “Scott Kelly, your resume was being reviewed at a Jonas Brothers concert tonight. Good luck.”

The video has clocked more than 7.8 million views, and the siblings got in on the fun. “Bro,” Joe wrote in the comments section, “Scott Kelly was there for me plenty of times. Hired.”  Kevin weighed in, “I’m one of Scott Kelly’s references,” and Nick chimed, “Scott Kelly’s work ethic and critical thinking inspired me to write the line ‘red dress.’”

That viral clip has been converted into a real-life situation, thanks to late-night TV.

The brothers were seated guests for Thursday night’s episode of NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, when Kelly was brought on set to answer the question on everyone’s mind. Did he get the job?

The answer isn’t quite so simple.

Kelly, wearing a suit, appropriate for an interview or a one-off interview beamed out to millions of households, admitted, “it’s been an interesting week.”

Kelly, a veteran, didn’t initially have a TikTok account. But he does now, after he was alerted to his insta-fame through buddies and a flood of emails.

“I never actually applied from a job,” he explained. Instead, his qualifications were studied by a local business that goes out of way to hire veteran talent, whose transition from military to civilian life, explains Kelly, can be “very challenging”.

Kelly had a confession to make, which he held until the very end of the segment. “I had never heard of you before this,” he told the brothers. “It’s true. My wife had to tell me. I didn’t have Disney Channel growing up. I didn’t know.” After his interesting week, Kelly is “a huge fanboy now.”

The pop trio stopped by Studio 6B at 30 Rockefeller Center ahead of the release at midnight of A Very Jonas Christmas’ Movie Soundtrack, the companion to their Disney+ film, A Very Jonas Christmas Movie.

The brothers’ 20th anniversary JONAS20: Greetings From Your Hometown Tour continues Friday night, Nov. 14 at CTMohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT, and they’ll ring in the new year in Florida at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, for a show that will be livestreamed exclusively on Samsung TV Plus.

BTS’ Jin made a triumphant return to U.S. late-night television this week, delivering a stirring performance of his new single “Don’t Say You Love Me” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon (aired May 21).

The appearance marked Jin’s first U.S. promo stop since the release of his sophomore solo album Echo and comes just months after completing his mandatory military service in South Korea.

Taking the stage with signature poise, Jin performed the emotional ballad under soft, moody lighting, accompanied by a live band and backing vocalists. His warm yet melancholic tone filled the studio as he sang the reflective lyrics from “Don’t Say You Love Me,” a track that has quickly become a standout on Echo, which dropped last Friday (May 16).

Before the performance, Jin joined Fallon for a light-hearted interview segment that included a comedic role reversal, with Jin briefly acting as the show’s emcee.

When asked about his next chapter as a solo artist, Jin shared details about his upcoming Hi-Seokjin fan tour. “You might be expecting my vocal skills, but I hope you’re most excited to see my face up close,” he joked with a smile.

The Hi-Seokjin event series kicks off this Friday in New York City, where Jin will meet with 1,000 fans for an exclusive concert and fan interaction. He’ll then return to South Korea to play two sold-out shows in Goyang on May 28 and 29, with additional Asian dates expected to follow.

Echo has already topped the iTunes charts in over 60 countries and received early critical praise for its blend of tender ballads and experimental production.

“Don’t Say You Love Me” serves as the centerpiece of the project, showcasing Jin’s evolution as a solo vocalist and storyteller.

Jin previously appeared on The Tonight Show in November 2024 to perform “Running Wild,” a track from his debut solo EP. His return signals a strong re-entry into the global spotlight as he prepares to embark on his first official fan tour, while BTS continue to pursue solo activities during their staggered enlistment period.
