The Buffalo Bills issued a statement on the condition of Damar Hamlin, citing doctors who state that he’s improving remarkably since suffering cardiac arrest during a game on Monday night (Jan.3rd).

Days after suffering cardiac arrest on the field during the Monday Night Football game against the Cincinnati Bengals on ESPN, Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin is beginning to awaken in his recovery. Doctors at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center also announced that Hamlin was beginning to move his hands and feet.

Dr. Timothy Pritts addressed the media along with his colleague, Dr. William Knight IV on Thursday (Jan. 5th). They confirmed that Hamlin was unable to speak, but was able to communicate by writing. Dr. Pritts said that Hamlin wrote a note asking who won the game on Monday night. “The answer is yes, Damar, you won. You won the game of life,” Pritts stated. He continued by saying that the 24-year-old, who was sedated and intubated upon his arrival at the hospital, had also shown some more positive signs by moving his head although they were unable to analyze his speech due to the breathing tube.
Dr. Knight credited the swift response of medical personnel on the field after Hamlin’s cardiac arrest as a factor in his neurological improvement, saying that a physician was by his side within a minute of his collapse.  “When we talk about neurologically intact, it’s a very gross term of big motor movements and following commands,” Knight said. Dr. Pritts continued: “So, we know that it’s not only that the lights are on, we know that he’s home. And that it appears all cylinders are firing within his brain.”
Dr. Pritts did state that Hamlin is still considered critically ill even with the marked improvements, cautioning that there are many phases to his recovery ahead of him. Their aim is to get him home and observe how he recovers. The medical team didn’t offer any more insight into what caused Hamlin to suffer cardiac arrest during the game. Dr. Knight also stated that it was too early to estimate whether Hamlin could return to football after a process of rehabilitation.

That improvement continued on Friday morning (Jan. 6th) as the Bills issued another statement through social media saying that Hamlin’s breathing tube was removed successfully overnight.

To make the process a little easier, we put together some of the better options for Monday Night Football and other NFL games. Read on for a schedule of upcoming MNF games, plus ways to watch and stream live and on-demand (with and without cable).

Monday Night Football: Games, Dates & Time

Monday Night Football began on Sept. 9 and will continue into January 2023. ESPN enlisted the help of DJ Marshmello to remix the MNF theme song.

So far, this year’s MNF matchups have featured the Denver Broncos vs. Seattle Seahawks, Tennessee Titans vs. Buffalo Bills, Minnesota Vikings vs. Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys vs. NY Giants, and the Los Angeles Rams vs. San Francisco 49ers.

The Bears will play the Patriots on Monday, followed by the Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns on Oct. 31. Most of the aforementioned games will broadcast on ESPN, EPSN2 and ESPN Deportes, but a couple of the scheduled games will air on ABC as well. See the full 2022 MNF schedule here.
How to Watch Monday Night Football Without Cable

Gone are the days of simply switching channels to catch all of your favorite NFL games, and it can be hard to keep track of which games are streaming on which platforms. For example, Prime Video is the streaming home for Thursday Night Football, while Sunday Night Football games are available on NBC and Peacock, and some Monday Night Football games will simulcast on ESPN+.

That said, while there are different ways to watch football games from your TV, phone, laptop or computer, the price will vary depending on which platform that you choose.

With ESPN+, you’ll get access to football and more for $9.99 a month (or $13.99 a month to bundle with Disney+ and Hulu). Watch the NFL, college football, soccer, MLB, NBA, NHL, UFC 279, PGA Tour, Top Rank, PLL Playoffs, Premiere League, La Liga, cricket and other sporting events on ESPN+. You can also binge dozens of sports series and TV shows, and original content such as PPV fights, and the entire 30 for 30 series, which includes The Captain, Tom Brady: Man in the Arena, Al Davis vs. The NFL, Vick, Be Like Water, Breakaway, More Than An Athlete with Michael Strahan, and Our Time Baylor Basketball.

ESPN+

$9.99/month

The Rams and 49ers game streamed live on ESPN+, but Monday’s Bears vs. Patriots game will broadcast on ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPN Deportes. The game will begin at 8:15 p.m. ET/5:15 p.m. PT. Monday Night Countdown pre-game coverage will begin at 6 p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT.
Other Ways to Watch Monday Night Football Without Cable

There are several other affordable options to watch sports and more. For example, FuboTV, Vidgo, Direct TV Stream and Sling TV start at around $20-$70 for live and on-demand streaming, including ESPN and other sports channels, in addition to DVR recording.

Fubo Pro

$69.99/month after 7-day free trial

You’ll get a free trial with Direct TV Stream and Fubo TV, which means that you can watch football games for free for up to a week. You can also watch games on YouTube TV and NFL+, the latter of which starts at $4.99/month (or $39.99/year) after a 7-day free trial. With NFL+, football fans can watch or listen to games live and on-demand, plus enjoy recaps and more.

NFL+

$4.99/month after free 7-day trial

Another money-saving option: Hulu + Live TV is $69.99 a month for 75+ channels in edition to ESPN+, Hulu and Disney+, and DVR storage.

Want to stream from outside of the U.S.? With ExpressVPN you can access ESPN+, Hulu, and other streaming platforms.

When Is UFC 280?

UFC 280 prelims will take place Saturday (Oct. 22) at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi at 2 p.m. ET/11 a.m. PT. The main card PPV fight will only be available on ESPN+.

UFC 280 prelims begin at 10 a.m. ET/7 a.m. PT on ESPNews, ESPN+ and UFC Fight Pass.

What Makes UFC 280 a Must Watch?

The match between former lightweight champion, Oliveira and Makhachev is one of the year’s most anticipated UFC fights, as it will determine a new chapter for both fighters.

UFC 280 is the first fight for Oliveira since he was stripped of the lightweight title and disqualified for being underweight at UFC 274 in May. If Oliveira wins the title back, he will likely go on to fight Alex Volkanovski, who is a backup fighter for the UFC 280 main card event after doctors cleared him to fight following a hand injury over the summer.

Makhachev might be the underdog at UFC 280, but don’t count him out just yet. Keep reading for details on how the two fighters match up.

Oliveira vs. Makhachev: How They Match Up

Brazil’s Oliveira is favored to win among betters; however, Russia’s Makhachev will prove to be a tough competitor, as he has won 10 consecutive bouts since the only loss of his MMA career to Adriano Martins at UFC 192 in 2015.

Oliveira, meanwhile, is just as impressive. He has won 11 fights in a row, with 10 via stoppage. Oliveira beat Michael Chandler, Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje in succession via stoppage.

Oliveira, 33, and Makhachev, 31, are also in a close race when it comes to measurements. Both are 5-foot-10-inches and 155 pounds. However, Oliveira has a slightly larger reach of 74 inches compared to Makhachev’s 70.
