Calibre 50 extends its record for the most No. 1s on Billboard’s Regional Mexican Airplay chart as “Vengo de Verla” crowns the tally dated Nov. 4. The single advances from No. 5 in its 10th week with 7.8 million audience impressions, up 19%, earned during the tracking week ending Oct. 26, according to Luminate. It […]

Beéle checks off a career milestone this week as he bags his first No. 1 on a Billboard chart with “Vagabundo,” a co-billed song with Sebastian Yatra and Manuel Turizo. The song rises 7-1 to crown the Latin Airplay chart dated Sept. 2.  “Vagabundo” climbs with 34% gain in audience impressions, to 9.2 million, earned in the U.S. in […]

Yahritza y Su Esencia crosses off its first Billboard airplay No. 1 as “Frágil” with Grupo Frontera lifts 3-1 to crown the Regional Mexican Airplay chart (dated Aug. 12). The song becomes the Martinez siblings’ maiden No. 1 on any airplay ranking.

“Thank you very much with all our heart,” Yahritza tells Billboard. “The truth is that it is a blessing and it’s all thanks to our audience. We knew the song would be very special from the moment we started working on it with the Frontera guys, and we’re very pleased that everybody has connected so much with it. We are excited to sing it on our tour that launches Aug. 15.”

“Frágil” ejects Alejandro Fernández’s “No Es Que Me Quiera Ir” from the lead thanks to a 28% increase in audience impressions, to 8.4 million, earned in the U.S. during the tracking week ending Aug. 3, according to Luminate. (“Que Me Quiera” dips to No. 3 with a 16% cut, to 7.41 million.)

Yahritza y Su Esencia feted its first radio entry when “Frágil” debuted at No. 38 on Regional Mexican Airplay on July 1. The song made its way across multiple Billboard charts prior to its radio debut, including cracking the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 82 (May 6) for a later No. 69 peak. Let’s look at its rankings:

Peak Position, Chart, Peak Date

No. 2, Latin Airplay, Aug. 12

No. 3, Latin Digital Song Sales, April 22

No. 10, Hot Latin Songs, April Aug. 5

No. 11, Latin Streaming Songs, May 27

No. 35, Billboard Global Excl. U.S., June 3

No. 37, Billboard Global 200, June 3

No. 69, Billboard Hot 100, May 27

“Frágil” is the first chart entry in 2023 by the Martinez sibling trio, who scored a No. 17 high on Hot Latin Songs through “Inseparables” with Iván Cornejo last October. Since then, the group — comprised of Yahritza (lead vocals and acoustic guitar), Armando (Mando; 12-string guitar) and Jairo (acoustic bass) — released four other tracks, none of which scored a Billboard entry. Those tunes faced a different recording process, attributable to a seven-month stay in Mexico City by big brother Mando, who had to relocate to his native country while his O-1 visa was being processed. During that time, the siblings connected via FaceTime to record and compose, notwithstanding a few trips by Yahritza and Jairo to ease the process.

“Frágil” is the first collaboration between the trio and Frontera, who secure its fourth No. 1, among seven straight top 10s on Regional Mexican Airplay, including the six-week champ “Que Vuelvas” with Carin León (Jan.-March)

“Working with our friends from Grupo Frontera was a lot of fun and an unforgettable experience,” Y Su Esencia adds. “We have a great relationship and thank God we can say that they are one of our best friends in the industry.”

Beyond its Regional Mexican Airplay No. 1, “Frágil” barely misses the top slot on the overall Latin Airplay chart, where the song climbs 8-2.

“Frágil” was composed by Yahritza Martinez, Edgar Barrera, Kevyn Cruz, and Luis Angel O’Neill Laureano.

Yng Lvcas captures his second top 10 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart as his latest EP, Six Jewels 23, arrives at No. 5 on the June 10-dated ranking. The set includes six tracks or “jewels”, as he named them, while “23” is a nod to his age.
Yng Lvcas launched his career in his native Guadalajara, Mexico by blending 21st century reggaetón and trap with hints of regional Mexican music such as electro cumbia. The top 10 debut of Six Jewels follows an international burst with the remix of “La Bebe,” with Peso Pluma, which placed both acts at No. 2 on Billboard global charts (Global Excl. U.S. on April 22 and Global 200 on June 22-dated lists).

On a national level, “La Bebe’s” remix reached No. 11 on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100 (chart dated May 6) and at No. 2 on the multi-metric Hot Latin Songs (April 15-dated survey).

The original version of “La Bebe” is the final track of his No. 3-peaking album debut LPM on Top Latin Albums (April 29-dated chart), his first entry on any Billboard albums chart.

Six Jewels 23, which also debuts at No. 3 on Latin Rhythm Albums, starts with 11,000 equivalent album units earned during the May 26-June 1 tracking week, according to Luminate. As has become the norm with new artists, the bulk of the album’s opening sum derives from streaming equivalent album units which equates to 16.9 million on-demand official streams in the U.S. for the songs on the album.

On the multi-metric Top Latin Albums chart, each unit equals one album sale, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album.

Six Jewels was released May 25 via Warner Latina. It’s the third regional Mexican album to launch in the top five on Top Latin Albums in 2023 so far, following Fuerza Regida’s Pa Que Hablen: I, also a No. 5 start in January, and Eslabon Armado’s Desvelado, a No. 1 debut on the May 3-dated list.

Six Jewels concurrently grants Yng Lvcas a higher start on the overall Billboard 200, at No. 92, besting the No. 142 start of LPM, which peaked at No. 57 four week after its debut (chart dated April 29).

Born Daniel Oswaldo Donlucas Martinez, the 23-year-old songwriter picked up the moniker Yng Lvcas in 2021 before releasing the eight-track EP Wup? Mixtape1 comprising all corridos (the set has not entered any Billboard chart).

Ke Personajes, Big One, and FMK’s “Un Finde: Big One Crossover #2” claims a fourth week at No. 1 on the Billboard Argentina Hot 100 chart (dated May 13). The song enters into a tie with Bizarrap and Shakira’s “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53” for the second-longest reign in 2023, trailing Big One’s own “En La Intimidad,” with Emilia and Callejero Fino, which dominated for seven consecutive weeks starting the Feb. 25-dated ranking.

BM’s “M.A (Mejores Amigos)” holds strong at No. 2, four weeks after it became his first No. 1 (chart dated April 15).

The Hot Shot Debut of the week goes to Emilia’s “Jagger” at No. 11. With the latter plus ”No_Se_Ve.Mp3,” with Ludmila, debuting at No. 41 this week, Emilia collates her 21st entry on the Argentina Hot 100 and joins the exclusive group of female artists with 21 entries or more: Maria Becerra has secured 39 entries, Karol G posts 30, Tini holds 29, while Nicki Nicole has claimed a total of 26 career entries.

Overall, Bad Bunny continues at the lead with a total of 58 chart entries.

Further, Duki’s “aPoLLo13” launches at No. 32. With the new entry, the Argentinian rapper adds a 40th entry to his account, the fourth-most after Bad Bunny’s 59 titles, J Balvin’s 49, and Bizarrap’s 43 chart appearances.

Khea and Tiago Pzk’s “Para Amarte a Ti” take the Greatest Gainer honor of the week as the song climbs 26 rankings, from No. 76 to No. 50.

Elsewhere, Mesita picks up his first entry as a soloist, unaccompanied by any other act, as “Dale Mecha” starts at No. 81.

The chart boasts six other debuts this week, starting with MYA and Rusherking’s “Mya Live P1: Chanel De Coco” at No. 84. Meanwhile, Lola Indigo and Quevedo’s “El Tonto” bows at No. 87; WOS’ “Descartable” joins at No. 89; Luck Ra and La Renga’s “Bebe Dame” debuts at No. 90; while La Joaqui’s “Cachorro” arrives at No. 97.

Lastly, thanks to the biographical Nexflix series El Amor Después del Amor, a classic of singer-songwriter Fito Páez makes its chart debut as “11 y 6” starts at No. 99. With the new arrival, Paez captures his fifth entry.

Prince Royce collects his 33rd top 10 on Billboard’s Tropical Airplay Chart as “Me EnRD” debuts at No. 9 on the May 6-dated survey. The song was released via Smiling Prince/Sony Music Latin on April 20, the same date the Dominican artist premiered it live at the eighth annual Latin American Music Awards in Las Vegas.

“Me EnRD” bows at No. 9 with 3.33 million audience impressions earned in the U.S. during its first tracking week ending April 27, according to Luminate. The romantic bachata is just the second song to start in the upper tier so far in 2023, after Marshmello and Manuelle Turizo’s “El Merengue” launched at No. 4 on the list dated March 18.

Among 36 career entries, “Me EnRD” gives Royce his 33rd top 10 on Tropical Airplay, and his fifth to debut in the region. At its No. 9 start, it’s his best debut since the 11-week champ “Déjà Vu,” with Shakira, launched at No. 2 in March 2017.

Royce’s 33 top 10s rank fifth on the all-time list, tied with Elvis Crespo, where Victor Manuelle still leads with 64 top 10s since the chart’s inception in 1994. Here’s the leaderboard:

64, Victor Manuelle55, Marc Anthony37, Gilberto Santa Rosa34, Daddy Yankee33, Elvis Crespo33, Prince Royce31, Jerry Rivera28, Olga Tanon28, Romeo Santos

Further, Royce’s “Me EnRD” marks his 20th top 10 without a collaborative act. It trails the No. 6-peaking “Otra Vez” (Feb. 11-dated list) also released as a soloist. On the current chart, the latter ranks at No. 11 for a second week.

Beyond its top 10 debut on Tropical Airplay, “Me EnRD” bows at No. 30 on the all-genre Latin Airplay tally, where singer-songwriter claims his 41st entry.

Marca Registrada unlocks its first top 10 achievement on Billboard’s Latin Airplay chart thanks to “Di Que Sí,” its first collab with Grupo Frontera, which climbs 12-5 on the ranking dated April 22.

“Di Que Sí” enters the top 10 in its fifth week with 8 million in audience impressions, an 18% gain, earned in the U.S. during the April 7-13 tracking week, according to Luminate.

As mentioned, the Culiacán, Sinaloans crack the top 10 barrier for the first time in 2023 and join five other acts who concurrently scored a first top 10 this year. Here’s the rundown:

Artist, Title, Collaborator, Date Arrived, Position

Baby Rasta, “Punto 40,” with Rauw Alejandro, Jan. 14, No. 9

Leandro Rios, “La Patrona,” with Edwin Luna y La Trakalosa de Monterrey, Jan. 28, No. 9

Fuerza Regida, “Bebe Dame,” with Grupo Frontera, March 25, No. 1

Marshmello, “El Merengue,” with Manuel Turizo, April 1, No. 8

Marca Registrada, “Di Que Si,” with Grupo Frontera, April 22, No. 5

Meanwhile, Mc Allen, Texas-based Grupo Frontera secures its fourth straight top 10 which launched with the No. 10-peaking “No Se Va” last December. The song also granted the five-member ensemble its first entry on the Billboard Hot 100 in October at No. 99, reaching its No. 57 high three weeks later (chart dated Oct. 22). It became then, the fifth regional Mexican song to enter Hot 100 since the list launched in 1958.

Further, “Di Que Sí” nearly misses the top on Regional Mexican Airplay this week, as the song rises to the runner-up slot after two weeks at No. 6.

Elsewhere, “Di” climbs to 19-15 on the multimetric Hot Latin Songs chart. The increase secures the track the week’s Greatest Gainer/Airplay honors, while streaming activity also assists its climb. The song generated 4.4 million U.S. clicks during the same period. The list blends airplay, streaming data, and digital sales.

Mexico’s latest trap and reggaetón interpreter, Yng Lvcas, makes his first visit to a Billboard albums chart with LPM as the set debuts at No. 8 on the Top Latin Albums chart (dated April 8).
“It’s something else, thank you!” Yng Lvcas tells Billboard. “First off, without my team and all those who listen and press play, none of this would be possible. I am beyond happy. What’s next? All great things. Onward and forward. We are not crabs; we just move forward.”

LPM starts in the upper region mainly supported by streaming activity, largely powered by a recently released remix of the set’s “La Bebe,” with corridos tumbados newcomer Peso Pluma, which arrived on March 17, while its official video dropped March 23. The album was released in 2021 independently, but has surged in recent weeks following the growth of “La Bebe,” which has flourished on TikTok with over a half-million videos on the platform. (All versions of the song are combined into a singular listing on Billboard‘s chart; TikTok activity does not contribute directly to the charts.)

“Working with el flaco is another thing,” Lvcas adds. “My respect for him and his team, and hopefully, just like this collab, we get to work on more tunes with Peso. This is basically my favorite one.”

During the March 23-30 tracking week, the eight-track album generated 9,000 equivalent album units, according to Luminate. That sum equates to 13.77 million official on-demand streams of the album’s songs — with 98% of that sum from “La Bebe,” mostly from the remix.

On the multimetric Top Latin Albums chart as measured in equivalent album units, each unit equals one album sale, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album.

The 23-year-old singer-songwriter scores his first top 10 on any Billboard albums ranking on his first try. He made his chart debut with “La Bebe” debuting at No. 38 on Hot Latin Songs (chart dated Feb. 25) with 2 million official streams.

Lvcas’ first top 10 album arrives shortly after he joined the Warner Latina family of artists. “Aside from ‘La Bebe’ there are two other tracks that have marked me, like ‘Déjame,’ which was dedicated to a girl, and ‘Pégame’ which is slowly escalating. It’s amazing how the numbers are growing…”

Alongside the album’s entrance on Top Latin Albums, “La Bebe” makes progress on Hot Latin Songs. It pushes 11-3 on the multimetric tally with nearly 14 million official streams, up 101%, from the week prior. The sum generates a No. 14 debut on the overall Streaming Songs chart and pushes 7-2 on Latin Streaming Songs, the highest ranking for Lvcas on any Billboard list.

“The complete recording process took around 15 days,” Lvcas recalls. “On Dec. 10, a spark ignited me to release a reggaetón album because I didn’t have one in platforms. Everything happened fast; I went into the studio with the tracks I had already written. I edited everything, including the covers artwork. Everything was released at once and in the heat of the moment, how we say in Mexico.”

Sales also contribute to “La Bebe’s” rise as it sold 1,000 downloads during the same period yielding a No. 4 peak on Latin Digital Song Sales.

Over on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100 chart, “La Bebe” rallies 77-34, taking the Greatest Gainer/Streaming honors of the week.

Elsewhere, LPM generates enough activity to earn a No. 142 debut on the overall Billboard 200 chart.

Emilia, Big One and Callejero Fino’s “En La Intimidad” rules the Billboard Argentina Hot 100 chart (dated March 18) for a fourth week. It joins Bizarrap and Shakira’s “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53” as the only other title to crown the ranking for at least four weeks in 2023.
Karol G and Shakira’s “TQG” holds steady at No. 2 for a third week, encompassing its entire run on the chart. TINI’s “Cupido” rebounds 4-3, while BM’s “M. A. (Mejores Amigos)” climbs 5-4 for a new peak after it held strong at No. 5 for a four consecutive weeks. Plus, Lil Cake and Migrantes also make progress as “Mercho,” featuring Nico Valdi, rises to its No. 5 high.

Argentinian Ecko earns his first top 10 on the 100-deep tally as “Te Escapas De Mis Brazos,” his partnership with Callejero Fino and El Perro, ascends 14-10. The rapper had reached a No. 37 high with first entry “Matatan,” with Cazzu, Brray, Alan Gómez, Kaleb Di Masi and Dj Tao, in March 2022. While Fino ups his top 10 career count to five, El Perro secures his second top 10.

The week’s Greatest Gainer honors goes to Ke Personajes’ “Pobre Corazón,” featuring Onda Sabanera, which rallies 54-16. It’s the highest ranking for the Colombian cumbia ensemble, while Argentinian Ke Personajes reached No. 1 through their featuring turn on Luka Ra’s “Ya No Vuelvas,” which also features La K’onga, in February.

Nicki Nicole’s “No Voy a Llorar :’)” takes the Hot Shot Debut of the week, at No. 36. It’s her highest start since “Ya Me Fui,” with Bizarrap and Duki, opened at No. 15 in July 2021.

Elsewhere, seven other songs debut this week, starting with Wisin, Emilia and Lyanno’s “Tu Recuerdo” at No. 63. La Planta, Bm and Alejo Isakk’s “Discoteca,” featuring Locura Mix, follows at No. 72.  Plus, Puerto Rican trap artist Young Miko achieves her first entry with “Lisa” at No. 74. Meanwhile, Mambo Kingz and DJ Luian make their comeback after almost four years with “Más Rica Que Ayer,” with Anuel AA, at No. 75.

Further, Mya and Cali y El Dandee’s “Legendaria” bows at No. 78. Lolo OG, Callejero Fino, and Alejo Isakk’s “Azote (remix)” debuts at No. 84. And lastly, Milo J scores his third entry with “Morning” at No. 97.

Argentinian Tini checks off two career milestones with her first top 10 and first entry on any Billboard albums chart as Cupido, her fourth studio album, debuts at No. 8 on the Latin Pop Albums chart dated March 4.
Cupido, released on Feb. 16 through Hollywood/5020 Records, starts with 2,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending Feb. 23, according to Luminate.

Streaming powers most of Cupido’s opening sum. The 2,000 streaming-equivalent album units equal to 3 million official on-demand streams of the album’s songs in the tracking week. On Latin Pop Albums, one unit equals to one album sale, 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams for a song on the album.

Cupido concurrently opens at No. 45 on Top Latin Albums.

Notably, Tini becomes the first Argentinian act to debut in the top 10 on Latin Pop Albums since the late tango bandoneonist and composer Miguel Calo secured his first and only entry with the No. 8 high Siguen Los Exitos de La Orquesta de Miguel Calo in Sept. 2016. Moreover, Tini becomes the first Argentinian woman to claim a top 10 debut since Soledad scored a No. 9 entry with the collaborative set Raiz, with Lila Downs and Nina Pastori, in 2014.

Cupido was preceded by two songs on Latin Pop Airplay: “Maldita Foto,” with Manuel Turizo, peaked at No. 15 in Oct. 2021, while “La Loto,” with Becky G and Anitta, earned Tini her first top 10 on the ranking.

Further, “Miénteme,” with Maria Becerra, “La Loto,” with Becky G and Anitta, and the album’s title track “Cupido,” secured entires on the Billboard Global 200 chart. Plus, all three titles plus “Bar,” with L-Gante, and “La Triple T,” also earned Tini career entries on the Global Excl. U.S. chart (all below the top 50).

While Cupido may be Tini’s first entry and top 10 on any U.S. Billboard albums chart, the 25-year-old already landed multiple chart toppers and top 10s on the songs side with 29 career entries on the Billboard Argentina Hot 100, including three No. 1s and 14 top 10s. “Bar,” with L-Gante, the album’s third single dominated for seven consecutive weeks there in 2021.
