Sean “Diddy” Combs is for all intents and purposes, cooked—but it isn’t going to stop him from trying to save his career. The Bad Boy mogul issued a statement apologizing for assaulting Cassie in 2016 (though he never mentions her name), after footage of the brutal beating in a hotel hallway was shared by CNN on Friday, May 17.
Diddy was seen dragging, punching and kicking his then-girlfriend Cassie at the InterContinental Hotel in Los Angeles (now closed) for seemingly trying to leave. By now most are aware that Cassie sued Diddy in late 2023, accusing him of sex trafficking, amongst other heinous allegations, but the lawsuit was quickly settled a day later.
On late Sunday morning (May 19), with a caption of “I’m truly sorry,” Diddy issued a video apology on his @diddy Instagram account.
“It’s so difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life, but sometimes you gotta do that,” said Diddy. “I was f*cked up. I mean I hit rock bottom, but I make no excuses. My behavior on that video is inexcusable.”
He added, “I take full responsibility for my actions in that video. I’m disgusted. I was disgusted then when I did it, I’m disgusted now. I went and I sought out professional help, going to therapy, going to rehab. I had to ask God for his mercy and grace. I’m so sorry, but I’m committed to be a better man each and every day.”
Diddy concluded his statement by saying, “I’m so sorry, but I’m committed to being a better man everyday. I’m not asking for forgiveness, I’m truly sorry.
It goes without saying that social media is also disgusted. Most, don’t think the sincerity is there and they’re noting the receipts that back their reluctance to buy what Diddy is selling.
For example, an initial statement where he denied everything back in December 2023, is still up.

Sean “Diddy” Combs has a lot of explaining to do. In hotel surveillance footage obtained by CNN, a man who allegedly looks like Diddy is seen hitting, kicking and dragging who is reportedly Cassie Ventura in a hotel hallway.
Trigger Warning.
According to CNN, the footage is from 2016. What is seen in the video reportedly lines up with what Cassie recounted in her initial lawsuit against Diddy in late 2023, where she accused him of years of domestic violence and sexual assault. Diddy infamously quickly settled the case a day after the lawsuit was filed.

The footage, compiled from multiple camera angles dated March 5, 2016, appears to show the rapper, producer and business mogul during an incident that, according to Ventura’s complaint, occurred at the now-closed InterContinental Hotel in Century City, Los Angeles. CNN verified the location based on publicly available photos of the former hotel’s interior.
In the video, Ventura exits a hotel room and walks to a bank of elevators. Combs, holding a towel around his waist, runs down a hall after Ventura. He grabs her by the back of the neck and throws her to the floor. Still holding his towel closed with one hand, he then turns to kick her, the video shows.
As Ventura is on the ground, Combs retrieves a purse and suitcase from the floor near the elevators. He turns around and kicks Ventura again as she lies motionless on the floor. About four seconds transpire between the two kicks, according to the video. He then briefly drags Ventura by her sweatshirt toward a room before walking away.
But the altercation doesn’t stop there.
Ventura is then seen slowly standing up. She gathers items from the floor and moves to pick up a phone on the hallway wall near the elevators. Combs, still in a towel and socks, returns. A mirror directly across from the security camera shows Combs appearing to shove Ventura.
Seconds later, he sits down on a chair, grabs an object off a table and forcefully throws it toward Ventura. Combs is seen walking away, then turns toward Ventura once again when an elevator door opens and someone appears to exit.
The incident reportedly occurred at the since-shuttered InterContinental Hotel in Los Angeles. Cassie has reportedly declined to comment about the release of the footage.

It’s been weeks since Diddy was getting all the slander on the internet after authorities raided his property following all kinds of shocking accusations and though things have since died down on social media, the case continues to move forward.
According to People, the alleged drug mule that was employed by P. Diddy has cut a deal with the feds and will cooperate in the investigation in return for some leniency as he faces prison time for his alleged participation in Diddy’s drama. In return for his cooperation, 25-year-old Branden Paul will be entered into a drug diversion program, but more importantly, for him, will avoid jail time for his marijuana and cocaine possession arrest this past March.
Paul’s attorney, Brian Bieber told People that with his client’s cooperation and the completion of the drug program, “the case against him will be dismissed in its entirety.”
While that may seem like a slap on the wrist for someone who was transporting booger sugar for a multi-million dollar music mogul, this is apparently a standard offer for non-violent defendants with no priors.

Paul had previously been named in a civil sexual assault lawsuit filed by Combs’ former producer and videographer Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones, in which Jones alleged Paul was Combs’ “mule” who “acquires” and “distributes” his “drugs and guns.”
Despite the arrest, he did not appear to be connected to the “I’ll Be Missing You” artist, 54.
Attorney Bieber said in a statement to PEOPLE on March 27, “We do not plan on trying this case in the media — all issues will be dealt with in court.”
The Miami-Dade police department had no comment on the matter.
In April, Paul was charged with felony cocaine possession. However, according to court documents, Paul’s additional felony charge for marijuana-laced candy were dropped.
One has to wonder what kind of tea Paul is serving up to investigators to help himself get out of this jam and if Diddy’s worried about what could come from this.
Just a few days ago Diddy took to his Instagram page with a post that simply said “time tells truth.”
Seems confident he’ll eventually be cleared of any accusations. We wonder if he’s still as confident after learning about Brendan Paul’s plea deal.

Music producer Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones, one of numerous alleged victims who have accused Sean “Diddy” Combs of acts of sexual violence and other abuses, has dropped multiple high-profile defendants from a lawsuit he filed against the Bad Boy mogul in February.
According to Hip Hop DX, the list of defendants in Jones’ lawsuit initially included Universal Music Group and its chairman Sir Lucian Grainge, who the suit alleged “aided and abetted” Diddy in his alleged sexual abuse. But those names have been withdrawn from the filing and the claims against them and against Motown Recordings have been dismissed with prejudice, meaning claims against them cannot be refiled.
Jones’ legal representation was pretty vague on why Grainge and the two music companies were dropped from the suit, although the now-former defendants had all filed motions to have their cases dismissed.
“All of the claims against Grainge, Motown and UMG Recordings (the ‘UMG Defendants’) in the [second amended complaint] are lacking in any legally cognizable basis,” the filing read. “Every claim is premised on the untenable strict liability theory that when one enters into a commercial contract, the payor under that contract becomes liable for anything that the recipient of payment does with the payment.” Apparently, Jones’ attorneys eventually agreed.

Lil Rod’s attorney Tyrone Blackburn said in a sworn declaration filed in court: “Based on my examination of all of the papers submitted in support of both motions to dismiss, which addressed the issues I had, I have concluded that there is no legal basis for the claims and allegations that were made against the UMG Defendants.”
He added: “As such, I have determined that the proper course of action is for all of the claims and all of the allegations to be withdrawn immediately.”
It’s worth noting that UMG has also petitioned to be removed from a lawsuit filed by another Diddy accuser identified as Jane Doe, and that filing also appears to make the core argument that the company isn’t responsible for anything Diddy did, if he did it.
“The Complaint’s allegations, if true, are certainly disturbing,” the filing read. “Plaintiff makes no allegation supporting vicarious liability for battery or assault (nor could she).
“Plaintiff’s NIED [negligent infliction of emotional distress] claim also fails because she has not alleged any duty owed to her by UMGR, and nowhere in Plaintiff’s Complaint does she allege that UMGR’s conduct was extreme and outrageous, as she is required to do as a matter of legal sufficiency,” it continued.
As much as Diddy has been trying to play it cool online, there is no hiding the fact that he is drowning in scandals, legal woes and professional uncertainty, and one can imagine there will be more people close to him who will either need to jump ship or sink right along with him.

Diddy is fighting to keep his name clean. He has asked a judge to dismiss Jane Doe’s claims that he and two other men sexually assaulted her.
US Weekly is reporting that the esteemed record producer has filed a motion to get a 2023 lawsuit dismissed. On Friday, May 10, TMZ obtained the documents where Puff’s legal team call out that this is the victim’s “second attempt to state an entirely false and hideous claim against the Combs Defendants.” The paperwork states she missed her window of time to properly file the lawsuit as per the Adult Survivors Act. (The unidentified woman says that she was sex trafficked and gang raped back in 2008 when she was only 17-years-old.)
Additionally, Diddy’s lawyer mentions that lawsuit should be tossed out due to her inability to provide specifics. “Plaintiff cannot allege what day or time of year the alleged incident occurred, yet purports to miraculously recall the most prurient details with specificity. Accordingly, this case should be dismissed now, with prejudice, to protect the Combs Defendants from further reputational injury and before more party and judicial resources are squandered,” the filing read.
On Dec. 6, 2023 Diddy refuted these allegations via social media. “ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. For the last couple of weeks, I have sat silently and watched people try to assassinate my character, destroy my reputation and my legacy,” he wrote on Instagram. “Sickening allegations have been made against me by individuals looking for a quick payday. Let me be absolutely clear: I did not do any of the awful things being alleged. I will fight for my name, my family and for the truth.”
Former Bad Boy Entertainment executive Harve Pierre is also named in the lawsuit; he has also denied the allegations.
Sean “Diddy” Combs on Friday (May 10) asked a federal judge to dismiss a lawsuit alleging that he and two co-defendants raped a 17-year-old girl in a New York recording studio in 2003, saying it was a “false and hideous claim” that was filed too late under the law.
The legal move is the latest piece of pushback from the 54-year-old hip-hop mogul and his legal team after he was subjected to several similar lawsuits and a subsequent criminal sex-trafficking investigation.
“Mr. Combs and his companies categorically deny Plaintiff’s decades-old tale against them, which has caused incalculable damage to their reputations and business standing before any evidence has been presented,” says the filing, which also names Combs-owned corporations as defendants. “Plaintiff cannot allege what day or time of year the alleged incident occurred, but miraculously remembers other salacious details, despite her alleged incapacitated condition.”

The lawsuit was filed in December and amended in March by the woman who now lives in Canada whose name wasn’t disclosed in the court filing. She said she was in 11th grade at a high school in a Detroit suburb in 2003, when Harve Pierre, then the president of Combs’ Bad Boy Entertainment record label, flew her to New York on a private jet and took her to a recording studio, where she was given drugs and alcohol until she was incapable of consenting to sex. Then, the lawsuit said, Pierre, Combs and a man she didn’t know took turns raping her.
The lawsuit included photographs of the woman sitting on Combs’ lap that she said were taken on the night in question.
The defense filing asks that the case be “dismissed now, with prejudice” — meaning it cannot be refiled — “to protect the Combs Defendants from further reputational injury and before more party and judicial resources are squandered.”
At this early stage in the lawsuit, the arguments are procedural rather than on the facts of the case.
Some of the lawsuits filed against Combs involve decades-old allegations and are among the more than 3,700 legal claims filed under New York’s Adult Survivors Act, which temporarily suspended certain legal deadlines to give sexual assault victims a last opportunity to sue over abuse that happened years or even decades ago.
The new deadlines established by that law expired, but the suit Combs filed the motion against Friday was brought under a different law, New York City’s Victims of Gender-Motivated Violence Protection Law. That city law also allows accusers to file civil complaints involving sexual assault claims after the statute of limitations has run out.
But Combs’ motion argues that suit was filed too late, because the city law is preempted by the state law, whose provisions mean the lawsuit needed to be filed by August of 2021 to be timely.
“New York state law trumps New York City law, without exception,” the filing says.
The amended version of the lawsuit filed in March sought to address some of these issues, but Combs’ attorneys argue that it didn’t go far enough. The judge has ruled the woman will need to reveal her name if the lawsuit moves forward after this challenge.
The Associated Press does not typically name people who say they have been sexually abused, unless they come forward publicly, as some of Combs’ accusers have done.
Friday’s defense filing also criticizes the suit for including “a bolded, legally irrelevant ‘trigger warning’ calculated to focus attention on its salacious and depraved allegations.”
The public airing of allegations against Combs began with a November lawsuit by the singer Cassie, his former protege and girlfriend, containing allegations of beatings, rape and other abuse between 2005 and 2018. The suit, filed by Douglas Wigdor, the same attorney who filed the suit being challenged Friday, was settled the day after it was filed. Combs denied the allegations through his lawyer before the settlement.
More lawsuits against Combs were filed in the following months. Then on March 25, Homeland Security Investigations served search warrants on his homes in Los Angeles and Miami in a sex-trafficking investigation. His lawyer called it “a gross use of military-level force.” The investigation is continuing. Combs has not been charged.
Last month, Combs filed a motion to dismiss a suit filed by Joi Dickerson, who said she was a 19-year-old college student when Combs drugged her and sexually assaulted her.
Wigdor did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the new filing. He said in a statement in December that the “depravity of these abhorrent acts has, not surprisingly, scarred our client for life.”

50 Cent is now suing his ex, Daphne Joy claiming that she defamed him with comments made in a post on social media.
According to reports, 50 Cent has filed a defamation lawsuit against his ex-girlfriend, Daphne Joy. In the documents of the filing, the rapper and entertainment mogul said that Joy “falsely and publicly” accused him of “rape and physical abuse” during their relationship. 50 Cent also claims that she made a “purposeful attempt to, on information and belief, destroy his personal and business reputation, harm Jackson’s commercial and business interests, negatively affect his custody case, and prevent him from seeing his minor son.”
50 Cent and Daphne Joy were together from 2011 to 2013, and their son Sire is now 12. The 48-year-old rapper referred to Daphne Joy’s Instagram post on March 28, where she scolded 50 Cent over his joking about her being mentioned in a lawsuit against Diddy as a “sex worker” and said, “Let’s put the real focus on your true evil actions of raping me and physically abusing me.” 50 Cent, aka Curtis Jackson, said the post has attained over 22,000 likes and threatened to harm his reputation and business. “The Defamatory Post contains false and malicious statements of fact that expose Jackson to hatred, contempt, or aversion, or induce an evil or unsavory opinion of Jackson, in the minds of the public,” the court documents continue, referring to the post’s intent to ”impact the custody case”. 50 Cent is also seeking monetary damages of $1 million.
He also attached a letter that was previously sent on April 2 to Daphne Joy, whose last name is Narvaez, demanding she remove the post. He claims that in response, her lawyers submitted a request from Daphne Joy for millions of dollars in addition to dropping his petition for sole custody of their son, Sire. The documents call the move “clearly extortive.”. Neither party has responded to press inquiries about the lawsuit.

Diddy is seemingly letting the world know he is keeping his head up regardless of all the scandals involving his name. He recently posted a video alluding to him enduring all his legal troubles.
As reported by Digital Music News, the embattled music mogul has kept a very low profile ever since he was accused of multiple acts of sexual misconduct and more. On Saturday, May 4, he posted a video that opens up with a camera shot moving down a white hallway as audio of Bishop TD Jakes saying “not hysterical, not frantic, not anxious, not fretful…but steady in the storm” plays. It then transitions into footage of Diddy hugging an unidentified individual and joining a prayer circle with his family. The closing scene shows The Love Album: Off the Grid rapper at the beach while it is raining hard, with his arms raised to the sky; it appears he is embracing the moment regardless of the harsh winds.
Though he doesn’t speak in the video, it is safe to assume the inclement weather is symbolic of all the legal issues he has been facing. On April 26, Diddy’s legal team filed a motion requesting that a sexual assault claim be dismissed because it was “brought under statutes that did not exist at the time the alleged misconduct occurred.” The victim, Joi Dickerson-Neal, claims Diddy drugged her and filmed their romantic encounter then later showed it to one of his friends. In essence, her claim was filed nearly 30 years after she says the incident occurred, and the New York State Revenge Porn Law was not passed until 2019.

Russell Simmons has not made many public statements after being accused of sexual assault and other crimes during his time as a record company executive. Now residing in Bali, Indonesia, the former Def Jam Recordings mogul took to social media to defend Sean “Diddy” Combs, who is also facing a bevy of sexual assault charges, and urged fans to “see the good in things.”
Taking to Instagram, Russell Simmons, 66, opened up his video by mentioning that there have always been issues in rap but likened the skirmishes to pro wrestling. However, Simmons notes that the way that Kendrick Lamar and Drake are going after each other, while exciting, could eventually lead to gunplay.
“When you tear someone down or you watch someone tear someone down, try not to get so excited. I know it’s fun to watch for some people,” Simmons says, warning that the cycle isn’t healthy over time.
He added, “If I had a nickel for every nasty meme sent to me by people whose lives were enhanced and built by Sean Combs, it’s like, it seems a bit hypocritical since the only reason you have a life is because you worked for him, or he gave you a job or lifted you up somehow.”
The overarching message from Simmons is that the current state of beef and the tearing down of Diddy has created a situation where fans are more invested in the downfall of entertainers than in bettering themselves.
“You may think it’s, you know, entertaining. Some of the memes are funny, right? But, we gotta look up, train our minds to see the good in things and not the negative,” Simmons shared.

Diddy has been nominated in three categories at the upcoming BET Awards, despite dealing with controversy over sexual abuse allegations.
According to reports, the first round of voting for artists to receive nominations at the 2024 BET Awards has begun – and embattled music mogul and artist Diddy is listed on the ballot multiple times. The categories include his recent The Love Album: Off the Grid, for Album of The Year, and the track “Closer To God” with Teyana Taylor from the album is in consideration for Song of The Year. He’s also apparently nominated for Video of the Year for his guest appearance in the video for “Creepin”, a song done by Metro Boomin with 21 Savage and The Weeknd. The first round of voting is set to conclude on Tuesday (May 7). Studios, record labels, and managers can submit award nominations, with some categories allowing voters to write in nominees.
The Love Album qualifies for nominations since it was released on September 15, 2023. The album didn’t receive broad acclaim, but it was notable due to the amount of high-profile guests who appeared on it such as Justin Bieber, The Weeknd, Mary J. Blige, Herb Alpert, John Legend, and Burna Boy. Two months after its release, Diddy aka Sean Combs would find himself in swarming legal trouble just a week after earning two Grammy Award nominations after ex-partner and singer on his label Cassie Ventura filed a sexual abuse lawsuit against him. (The album would lose to SOS, by SZA.) Diddy would settle the suit with Ventura shortly afterward but it was a harbinger of things to come.
Diddy is now dealing with multiple lawsuits from different victims, including one where he and former Bad Boy Records president Harve Pierre and a third man were accused of transporting a then 17-year-old from Michigan to New Jersey and then a New York studio where she was sexually assaulted. The mogul also saw his homes in Miami and Los Angeles raided by Homeland Security in line with a federal investigation of allegations of sexual trafficking that have been levied against Diddy and his 26-year-old son Christian. Representatives for Diddy declined to answer questions.
