After rocking the stage at HBCU Night during the Atlanta Hawks game, David Banner chopped it up with Hip-Hop Wired in a real talk interview.
The Mississippi rapper touched on Ja Rule’s comments from the latest “I Got Questions” episode, where Ja spoke about DMX’s unique emotional connection with his fans while performing. Banner agreed, saying it’s always been important for him to connect with his fans too. He pointed out that he’s probably taken pics with most of his supporters over the years, stressing how crucial it is to show love back to the people who support you.
With the 17th anniversary of his hit “Get Like Me” featuring Chris Brown coming up in March, Banner got a bit sentimental. He admitted that the first feeling he gets when thinking about the milestone is sadness, especially when he reflects on how much time has passed since he and Chris Brown have been in touch.
He also reminded everyone that he was the first rapper to show the world that getting a Chris Brown feature was possible. As proud as he is of Chris becoming a grown man and a father, Banner couldn’t help but express how much he misses his “little brother.” It’s clear that despite the distance, their bond runs deep, and the love is still there.
