Dame Dash has become what he used to despise: a chatty patty. The former “cakeaholic” now explains why he was doing his iconic dice roll dance moves in R. Kelly’s “Fiesta (Remix)” video even though he dated the late singer, one of the disgraced musician’s victims, Aaliyah.
The former CEO of Roc-A-Fella Records opened up about his appearance in the R. Kelly music video alongside his former business partner, JAY-Z, in a recent episode of his American Nu Network podcast on YouTube.
During the episode, he answered a question from Baller Alert about his appearance in the R. Kelly/JAY-Z video despite famously dating Aaliyah and knowing her past with the jailed singer/songwriter.
He reveals that he spoke with Aaliyah, expressing that he didn’t want to be in the videos, but she said she didn’t want to start any trouble.
Per XXL:
“When Jay was proceeding to still do business with R. Kelly, I went back and told Aaliyah, like, ‘Yo, they’re still doing projects. They got singles together. They are shooting videos. I don’t want to go to the videos. I don’t want to have any parts of it,” Dame says at the 38:55 mark of the video below. “And what she told me was that, ‘I don’t want to start any trouble that would probably trigger more attention on it. I just want to heal. I just want to leave this alone and get as far away from it as possible. I don’t want to hear about it. I’m really happy with our relationship in this moment and where it’s going. Just don’t be in any scene with him and don’t take any pictures with him.’”
“So, you can ask anybody that was on the set,” he continues. “I stood in the trailer. When it came time to do the shoot, I did my shots with Jay or whoever. I was not in one scene with R. Kelly. And you never seen me in a picture with R. Kelly. At least after I met Aaliyah.”
We see.
In the episode, he also discussed Jaguar Wright’s outrageous claims about JAY-Z and more. If you have time to waste, you can’t watch the episode in its entirety below.

It looks like interest in purchasing Dame Dash’s stake in Roc-A-Fella Records might actually pick up. The State of New York has gotten involved in the situation and refuted Jay-Z’s claims that the crown jewel of Roc-A-Fella Records catalogue, Reasonable Doubt, would revert back to him in a mere seven years.
According to TMZ, the City of New York has taken issue with Jay-Z’s attempt to “sabotage” the auction of Dame Dash’s stake in Roc-A-Fella Records by suggesting it won’t be worth as much without his debut album come 2031 and says that Reasonable Doubt will actually be a part of the iconic label for the next 74 years. With many potential buyers shying away from purchasing Dame’s portion of Roc-A-Fella after Jay-Z’s legal claim to the album, this new piece of news is sure to garner that much more interest in the upcoming auction for Dame’s piece of the pie.
Taking to social media to reveal the new information, Dame Dash broke down what the State of New York said about the situation and how they feel the auction price could now be 10 times higher than its current value given Reasonable Doubt will be part of the catalogue for basically another 100 years.
And while that’s all good and dandy for whoever ends up with the winning bid, that may not be the best of news for Dame Dash himself, as the city really intervened to get what they’re owed by the former co-founder of Roc-A-Fella Records.
Per TMZ:
The City’s Dept. of Social Services has a vested interest in this case because the money Dame makes off the auction will pay off his massive $193,000 child support debt. He also owes the state several million in back taxes.
According to the docs, Jay’s ultimately damaged the city’s interest in getting the highest possible bid in the auction — but Roc-A-Fella Records fired back Monday, through attorney Alex Spiro, saying Jay himself never issued any public statements … and the media simply ran with his termination notice and comments from his “legal team.”
RAF now says the issue of whether the termination notice reverts the rights back to Jay-Z is “woefully unripe” — insisting “this is not the appropriate time, forum, or case” to address these issues.
When the state wants the money they’re owed, they will do whatever it takes to get their coin.
Now that it’s seemingly official that Roc-A-Fella Records is a gold mine with Jay-Z’s debut album remaining with the label for another century, it’ll be interesting to see what the winning bid ends up being and who’ll be the new co-owner of the label.
We wouldn’t be surprised if it was Jay-Z himself. Just sayin’.

Dame Dash isn’t ducking any joke smoke. Harlem’s very own has addressed his recent viral mishap by pulling out his fake chomped on Instagram.
The mogul had an interesting week, last week. During an Instagram Live Dame Dash started responding to 50 Cent’s commentary from his recent visit to the Million Dollaz Worth Of Game the top row of his teeth fell out. It seemed that this took him by total surprise as he quickly handed his phone to his wife. While the mishap happened within the blink of an eye the moment soon went viral prompting him to explain on another Instagram Live session.
“First of all, sh*t is not dentures. These are my grills,” he explained as he showed the camera the fake teeth. “What happened was I have to go get implants put in ’cause I have implants. And I got them 20 years ago, and every 20 years, you got to switch them out. So I have to do surgery—pause—oral.” He then went on to poke fun of himself saying “my diamond grills popped out because that’s what happens when you’re broke.” The joke is a reference to an interview where the former Roc-A-Fella Records founder admitted to being broke.
You can see the former Cake-A-Holic reveal his missing teeth and discuss his streaming platform below.

Dame Dash was slated to auction off his stake in Roc-A-Fella Records this Thursday (August 29), but it appears the Harlem native will maintain his one-third ownership for a bit longer. A judge ruled on Tuesday (August 27) that the auction will be delayed until next month with the price of the stake doubling to cover Dame Dash’s tax debts and child support payments.
Billboard obtained court documents that Dame Dash will not hold the auction today after U.S. District Court Judge Robert W. Lehrburger ruled on Tuesday to grant a motion that moved the timeline of the auction from August 29 to September 21. The value of Dash’s 33.3 percent Roc-A-Fella Records stake was speculated to fetch millions according to some observers and now the starting price will be higher than previously shared.
As the outlet reports, the extension was granted to determine who gets paid first from the auction proceeds. One of the bigger line items for Dash was to pay off a $823,000 judgment after a civil lawsuit filed by film producer Josh Webber over a business partnership that went awry. Further, New York City says that Dash owes $193,000 in back child support, and the state of New York says a portion of the sale should go toward paying down Dash’s $8.7 million tax debt.
Webber’s attorney, Chris Brown, filed the motion to extend the date of the sale to officially sort out the order of repayment. The asking bid for the Roc-A-Fella Records stake was previously $1.2 million but now the asking price sits at $3 million at minimum. New York City will collect its child support payments first, then $1.7 million will go to Dash’s back taxes, and Webber will be paid third in line.
Dash has been on record saying that he will grant the buyer of the stake a bespoke Roc-A-Fella chain from the label’s heyday that would probably demand a hefty fee on the open market. It isn’t known if Dash is still offering the deal.

The auction of Damon Anthony “Dame” Dash’s stake in Roc-A-Fella Records now has a new twist as New York State claims he owes them millions in back taxes.
The legal battle over mogul Dame Dash’s share in Jay-Z’s Roc-A-Fella Records has another added twist, as a motion was filed in a federal court in Manhattan by New York’s Department of Taxation & Finance on Wednesday (August 21). According to reports, the motion was for the department to legally intervene in proceedings leading up to an auction of Dash’s share in the record label that will be conducted by the United States Marshalls Service in a Manhattan hotel on August 29. They claim that Dash owes $8.7 million in back taxes and penalties on income that he earned between 2005 and 2018.
“To date, the Department has been unsuccessful in its efforts to collect the unpaid New York State tax debt owed by Dash,” wrote attorneys for the state in the filing. “Intervening in this matter may be the Department’s only opportunity to collect some of the unpaid taxes Dash owes to New York.” The motion adds more complexity to the situation, as the share held by Dash (which totals 33.3% interest) is being auctioned off to fulfill a judgment in a lawsuit won by film producer Josh Webber. Webber sued Dash over a failed movie partnership and was granted $823,000.
However, the New York City’s Department of Social Services will receive the first share of proceeds from the auction as Dash owes $145, 096 in unpaid child support.
The tax department made it clear that its filing was not to supersede the social services department, but it also said that it had a lien against Dash’s Roc-A-Fella proceeds for over a decade. Jay-Z and Kareem “Biggs” Burke had tried to stop the auction from proceeding but were denied in February.
The opening bid of the auction will begin at $1.2 million, and Dash will receive any monies after the judgments are fulfilled, with his lawyer Natraj Bhushan claiming they “expect a robust auction with bids entering the several millions if not higher.” What is clear is that Mr. Damon Dash is allergic to responsibility,” Webber’s attorney Chris Brown stated in an interview. “I’m more interested in learning if New York State will file tax evasion charges against him or if he will be arrested at the upcoming auction. That is what I want to find out. Just my opinion.”

It’s no secret that Dame Dash has been strapped for cash for a while now, and though he’s not bankrupt broke, the man certainly isn’t balling out of control like he was during Roc-A-Fella’s heyday.
With a court forcing him to sell his 33.3% share of Roc-A-Fella Records to satisfy his outstanding debt, Dame Dash decided to take the time to explain to everyone why he’s been hard on cash. Yesterday, Dame took to Instagram to inform everyone on how it’s gotten to this point, and truth be told, it’s pretty understandable. No, he didn’t blow all his dough on fancy cars, cribs or more jewelry, but he did blow a decent amount on his dreams.
In his IG Live, Dame explained that his pockets began thinning out when he started “investing” in ventures that he wanted to see grow into fruition. Though he didn’t specify what kind of investments he made, it’s obvious at this point that they just didn’t work out or give him a return on his investment.
“Somebody asked me how I got so broke. Um, investing in my dreams. You know, when you’re investing in your dreams and you dream big, you’re always gon’ be broke. You’ll have a lot of sh*t, but I don’t have no money for nobody else if that’s what you call broke. That’s what it is. Either way, I’ma get with y’all. Stay tuned. I’m curious to see how it all rolls out.”
Call us crazy, but we really hope things work out for Dame.
The post comes a day after Dame Dash took to Instagram to offer an OG iced out Roc-A-Fella chain to the first person to put down $10 million on his share of the iconic record label. With a judge ordering Dame to pay film director Josh Webber a cool $800,000, Dame has to part ways with the label he, Jay-Z and Kareem Burke founded in 1994.
While many would jump at the chance to purchase his stake in the label, Jay-Z put everyone on notice that the crown jewel of Roc-A-Fella Records’ catalogue, Reasonable Doubt, would ultimately be reverted to him in just seven years, 2031. With the starting bid of Dame’s share of the label beginning at $1.2 million, will anybody be willing to put much more than that on the label knowing its biggest asset will be gone in a matter of years? Guess we’re going to find out.
Check out Dame’s post below, and let us know your thoughts on his situation in the comments section.

Recently, it was reported that a court-ordered Dame Dash‘s share of Roc-A-Fella records to be auctioned off to satisfy his mounting debt. Now, Jay-Z is hitting potential bidders with a “Buyer Beware” notice as his debut album, Reasonable Doubt, is the crown jewel of Dash’s stake in the record label.
According to TMZ, Jay-Z is taking legal action regarding the auction of Dame Dash’s 33.3% ownership of Roc-A-Fella Records, which will begin with a starting bid of $1.2 million. While we assumed Jay-Z would just participate in the auction and put up whatever amount of money is needed to get back the majority of his old record label, it seems like he’s going a different route and letting potential buyers know that Reasonable Doubt will be his in just a few years regardless of who ends up with Dame Dash’s share of the label.
Per TMZ:
While Roc-A-Fella currently holds the copyright on the record and all its tracks … Jay’s attorneys have now filed notice that those rights will revert to one Shawn Carter/”Jay-Z” in 2031.
Even though Jay and Dame ain’t exactly vibing these days, this legal move isn’t about revenge, it’s just biz — the rights would have gone back to Jay 35 years after the record was released, anyway. His lawyers have just filed the paperwork to make it official.
So, what does this mean for the August 29 auction? Whoever ends up winning Dame’s shares — minimum bid is $1.2 million — will enjoy one-third of all “Reasonable Doubt” revenues … but only for about the next 6 years and change. Then it’s all Jay’s.
Well, that certainly won’t sit well with anyone bidding on Roc-A-Fella’s illustrious catalog.
How will this affect the auction remains to be seen but putting down more than $1.2 million on something that’s going to have its biggest asset removed in six years doesn’t seem like a sound investment. Just saying.

Just a week ago it was reported that Dame Dash was about to sell his stake in Jay-Z’s classic debut album, Reasonable Doubt. But now, it seems like Dash will be forced to sell much more than he originally intended.
According to TMZ, a court has just ruled that Dame Dash will have to sell his entire share of Roc-A-Fella Records as his money woes continue to pile up. According to the report, Dash will have his 33.3% in the iconic record label auctioned off by a U.S. Marshall on Aug. 29. For serious bidders who plan on getting in on the action, they’ll have to send an email to attorney Christopher Brown in order to register for the upcoming event.
Naturally, the biggest gem here is Dash’s share of Reasonable Doubt. With rumors having swirled that Jay-Z had been trying to get that back from Dame for a while now, we wouldn’t be surprised if a representative for Hova ends up with the winning bid for Dame’s share of Roc-A-Fella Records.
TMZ reports:
Brown, as you may know, represents film director Josh Webber, who secured an $800K-plus civil judgment against Dash for copyright infringement and defamation two years ago.
Webber and Muddy Water Pictures produced “Dear Frank” and filed suit against Dash after claiming he went around and told people he owned the rights to the movie even after he was dropped from the project.
The court docs specify the purpose of the auction is to collect on the judgment. The docs also note Jay Z’s album “Reasonable Doubt” is the biggest asset Roc-A-Fella owns.
It will be quite the pricey entrance fee for anyone interested in the auction as the starting bid will be $1.2 million, with the winning bid having to put down 20% of the final tally as soon as the auction ends. We all know that’s pocket change to someone like Jay. Just sayin’.

It seems Dame Dash is very serious about letting his share of Reasonable Doubt go. He announced it is for sale.
As reported by HotNewHip-Hop, the Harlem, New York, native recently took to social media to let the world know that his piece of Jay-Z’s debut is available for a price. On Friday, July 19, he posted the album artwork with a rather undiplomatic caption stating he is taking offers. “This sh*t is for sale 1/3 … only real inquiries only,” he wrote. The second photograph on the Instagram post is a visual of Jay-Z, Damon Dash and Kareem “Biggs” Burke from the project’s original CD booklet.
Naturally, the post quickly went viral and received over 10,000 comments within 24 hours. Lupe Fiasco left a comment, which has since been deleted, urging Drake to buy it. “@champagnepapi will keep it safe for generations to come. This is grail and influenced an innumerable amount of rappers to see it peddle such a lack of grace genuinely hurts my feelings a little bit.” Lupe went on to recommend that Dash hold on to his share saying, “Or just keep the s**t OG you should be infinitely proud of this. Without it there is no me as I am and I’m sure other MCs will agree.”
This is not the first time the former Cakeaholic has tried to sell his 33% ownership in the 1996 effort. During an appearance on the Veuit podcast, Dash revealed that Jay-Z offered him $1.5 million dollars for his stake but he told his former partner no. Earlier this year, Cam’ron and Mase alluded to buying Dame’s share, but the transaction was never confirmed.
Last month, he reached out to Kendrick Lamar via IG after he unearthed an old social post from K Dot from 2010. “I’m sorry, Reasonable Doubt is better than Illmatic…. #youcanunfollowmenow” it read to which Dame posted, “@kendricklamar my 3rd is for sale if you want to buy it.” Kendrick never publicly responded to Dame Dash’s offer.

Dame Dash will have to seek new legal representation. His lawyers have served him resignation papers due to unpaid fees.
HotNewHipHop is reporting that the Harlem, New York, native’s debts continue to increase. Last week, Felton T. Newell and Justin H. Sanders, Esqs., of Sanders Roberts LLP formally abandoned their positions as the lawyers on record for the media mogul. The reasons they cited included “breach of contractual obligations to the firm” and claimed Dame Dash “failed to fulfill their financial obligations under their retainer agreement, resulting in the firm initiating an enforcement action against them.”
The firm was representing Dame Dash in his court battle against Monique Bunn. Back in 2023, the photographer claimed he sexually assaulted her but he was eventually cleared of any wrong doing. According to documents obtained by HipHopDX, she has since requested that the case be reopened citing the jury did not understand the gravity of the damages she suffered. Bunn also states that she was not compensated for her work and that Dame Dash.
“The evidence at trial – which was uncontroverted – established that each photo was worth $1,500, which should have resulted in a verdict for at least $384,750,000,” the 285-page document read. “It is well known that professional photographers earn much of their income through licensing their portfolio of photographs, and Defendants’ actions destroyed Ms. Bunn’s economic prospects. The jury ignored the valuation evidence and awarded zero to Ms. Bunn.”
Dame Dash has yet to formally respond to the matter. You can read through the lawyer’s notice of resignation below.
