Former Vice President Kamala Harris will be honored with the Chairman’s Award at the upcoming NAACP Image Awards.
The former vice president of the United States, Kamala Harris, will be honored with the prestigious Chairman’s Award at the 56th NAACP Image Awards taking place on Saturday (February 22). The award is given to individuals who “excel in public service and leverage their unique platforms to ignite and drive meaningful change.” Harris made history as the first woman, the first Black person, and the first South Asian person to serve as vice president with former President Joe Biden before accepting the nomination by the Democratic Party to run for president last summer, losing to Donald Trump in the November election. It will mark the first television appearance of the former vice president since leaving office last month.
“Vice President Kamala Harris is more than a leader – she is a force of change, driven by an unwavering passion to shape a brighter, more equitable future. It is with great honor that we present her with the Chairman’s Award at this year’s NAACP Image Awards, celebrating her relentless dedication to justice, equality, and the betterment of our society,” said Leon W. Russell, chair of the NAACP National Board of Directors in the press release. “Her legacy is built on courage, compassion, and a profound commitment to uplifting those who need it most. Her tireless advocacy for the most vulnerable among us has made her a beacon of hope and progress.”
BET CEO and President Scott Mills called it a “privilege” to bestow the award upon Harris, saying that she was deserving for “both her historic accomplishments and her incredible legacy of service to America and our community” during her career. “Her unwavering commitment to justice, equity, and progress has inspired millions, and her journey is a powerful testament to that which can be achieved through resilience, strength, and brilliance,” Mills said.
The 56th NAACP Image Awards will be held at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium and aired live on CBS and BET at 8 P.M. EST. Other notable honorees that will be in attendance are legendary comedian Dave Chappelle, who will receive the President’s Award at the ceremony, and the Wayans family – Keenen Ivory Wayans, Damon Wayans Sr., Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Kim Wayans and Damon Wayans Jr. – who will be inducted into the NAACP Image Awards Hall of Fame.

Dave Chappelle’s Saturday Night Live monologue caused a stir when he revealed that producers had told him he couldn’t talk about two hot-button topics: Gaza and transgender issues. For over 15 minutes, Chappelle delivered his usual edgy humor but hinted at the censorship behind the scenes. Known for his fearless approach to comedy, Chappelle’s never been one to hold back, but on SNL, there were limits.
When it comes to Gaza, Chappelle had already called the situation a “genocide,” a term that’s been super controversial, especially with mainstream media trying to avoid the heat. With so much tension around the issue, producers didn’t want to risk opening that can of worms on live TV.
In ‘The Closer’ (2021), Dave Chappelle got mad heat for his jokes about trans folks, which many saw as straight-up “punching down.” He talked about a trans woman friend of his, but the way he framed it rubbed people the wrong way. His comedy sparked a lot of noise, with folks calling him out for disrespecting a marginalized group. That drama made waves all over, even having shows like SNL hesitant. With all the backlash, the legendary comedian had to tone down his jokes, especially around trans and Gaza topics, just to avoid catching heat.
Dave Chappelle’s comedy is known for hitting hard and not caring who it offends. He tackles tough topics like race, gender, and social issues with no filter, often crossing lines that others wouldn’t dare. Some folks see it as crossing the line, but Chappelle argues his goal isn’t to hurt—it’s to make people think and start conversations.

Through an Instagram post, Bey revealed the first nine tour stops, including Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, London, Paris, Houston, Atlanta, Washington, D.C., and Las Vegas. The show kicks off April 28 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
Tickets went live on February 14 and are already selling fast. However, Ticketmaster and other resale sites like StubHub, Vivid Seats, Seat Geek and Gametime are offering plenty of opportunities to secure the perfect seat at a venue near you.

With RuPaul’s Drag Race bringing back their Rate-a-Queen system for season 17, Billboard decided to rate each of the new queens every week based on their performance. Below, we take a look at the iconic Snatch Game to see which queens nailed their celebrity impressions. Spoilers ahead for episode 7.
Even in a time when chaos reigns, some things are constants: the sky is blue; the grass is green; and the queens on RuPaul’s Drag Race will have to perform in the Snatch Game.
On Friday’s episode (aired Feb. 14) of Drag Race, the iconic challenge finally arrived as the 11 remaining queens were asked to deliver their best celebrity impersonations in the Match Game riff. Some queens — namely Suzie Toot — were confident in their abilities to deliver on the task at hand. Others rightly feared the expectations of the show’s longest-standing challenge.
Before we go any further, let’s make one thing clear — of all the Drag Race challenges, Snatch Game is famously the hardest. Not only do you need to create a semi-accurate recreation of a beloved star, but you also need to stay in that character for an extended period of time, with no script, making RuPaul laugh while there is no audience there to let you know how you’re doing. As Jinkx Monsoon, a two-time Snatch Game winner, told Billboard after season 14’s disastrous iteration of the challenge: “It’s one of situations where two things can be true at once – yes, Snatch Game happens every season, but also it’s either in your skill set or it’s not, and I don’t think it should really be held against queens for whom this is not their thing.”
With that being said … this was not a successful Snatch Game. While a few queens managed to get their laughs here (more on them later), most of the contestants were either forgettable or catastrophically bad. The two worst performers of the bunch, Crystal Envy and Lana Ja’Rae, wound up in the bottom — but with a lot of these performances, any number of the other girls could have easily wound up in their shoes.
Yet when it came time for a lip sync to Selena Gomez’s “Hands to Myself,” both Crystal and Lana turned it back on, delivering one of the most high-octane face-offs of the season. Ultimately, the judges decided to give Lana another shot in the competition, sending former frontrunner Crystal Envy home.

At the SNL50 anniversary festivities over the weekend, a lot of beloved Saturday Night Live characters returned to the show for the first time in years — including Will Ferrell and Ana Gasteyer’s Marty and Bobbi Mohan-Culp, who performed a memorable rendition of Kendrick Lamar‘s “Not Like Us” during the concert special Friday (Feb. 14).
But in an interview with People published Monday (Feb. 17), the actress revealed that she and her duet partner weren’t initially certain whether they should incorporate the Billboard Hot 100-topping Drake diss track into the skit. “We went back and forth,” Gasteyer told the publication.

“We were like … it’s song of the year, obviously,” she continued, referring to Dot’s recent song and record of the year wins for “Not Like Us” at the 2025 Grammys. “The thing about the Culps is they’re just trying to stay current and they want to reach their students where they are. So, song of the year.”
The fictional married couple indeed got the crowd laughing as Ferrell performed Lamar’s famous rap nearly word for word while Gasteyer sang its repeating four-note string hook opera-style. During the sketch, the Culps also put their own spins on songs by Doechii, Britney Spears, Megan Thee Stallion, Chappell Roan and more.
After finishing “Not Like Us,” the Elf star asked the crowd in character, “Are Kenny Lamar and Drake Graham in the house, by the way? Maybe you two can hug it out tonight in the name of love and fellowship.”
“We always kind of start with the premise, which is Valentine’s Day and love, and then naturally, because of the feuding, it was sort of like, you have to have the contrast,” Gasteyer added of the cover. “So, it was just fun to write, and ridiculous.”
The concert kicked off a weekend full of 50th-anniversary celebrations for Saturday Night Live, with the musical show also featuring performances from Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, Ms. Lauryn Hill with Wyclef Jean, the Backstreet Boys and more. Two days later, SNL hosted a red carpet and live special, which saw Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Bill Murray, Rachel Dratch, Tom Hanks, Adam Sandler and more all-stars return to the 30 Rock stage for skits and music, and included appearances from musicians such as Bad Bunny and Sabrina Carpenter.
Of sliding right back into her iconic character alongside Ferrell, Gasteyer told People, “It is just the most comfortable, familiar — I wish I had better words to describe it.”
The CoComelon: Sing-A-Long Live Tour, a fresh production featuring the characters of CoComelon that made its debut in South Africa in late 2024, will make its way across North America beginning in spring 2025, Round Room Live and Moonbug Entertainment announced on Tuesday (Feb. 18).

The cast and crew will kick off CoComelon’s musical journey in the U.S. and Canada with an April 24 opening date in Roanoke, Virginia, and by June 29 will end up in Louisville, Kentucky.
