While crime in New York City has always been an issue as of late things have been getting kind of wild and reckless in terms of the kind of crime that’s been engulfing the city that never sleeps.
According to The New York Daily News, the latest wildness comes from a group of women who decided to make some coin by sticking up some unsuspecting cab drivers in Manhattan and the Boogie Down Bronx just last week. The gun-toting trio pulled off their first robbery on November 20th when they ran up on a 60-year-old cab driver outside of Grand Central Station around 1am and relieved him of his cell phone (people still rob those?!) before hoping out and making a getaway.
But that wasn’t the end of their mini crime spree as the women decided to keep pressing their luck.
Per The New York Daily News:
About two hours later, the women took a cab up to the Fordham Heights section of the Bronx.
When a 59-year-old driver dropped the women off near the corner of Ryer Ave. and 180th St., they pulled out a gun and demanded he turn over his phone and wallet.
The robbers made off with his cell phone and $210 in cash, cops said.
Neither driver was hurt in the incidents.
Well, at least no one got hurt.
The women are still at large and police are asking the public to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS if they happen to run into these women. Thing is, they’ll probably stick you up for your cell phone if they see you pull it out. Just sayin.’

Sam Bankman-Fried, the founder of the FTX cryptocurrency exchange, was found guilty of the seven charges levied against him in the explosive fraud case. According to reports, Bankman-Fried could face over 100 years in prison if federal sentencing guidelines are followed and there is still another trial to come next year.
For five weeks, Sam Bankman-Fried, 31, stood trial at the Daniel Patrick Moynihan U.S. Courthouse in Manhattan, N.Y. and this past Thursday (November 2), the co-founder of FTX and Alameda Research heard the guilty verdict on fraud, conspiracy, and money laundering charges.
As reported by The Washington Post, Bankman-Fried was found guilty of two counts of wire fraud, four counts of conspiracy to commit fraud, and one count to commit money laundering. If all sentencing guidelines are followed, Bankman-Fried faces several decades in prison. Sentencing will take place on March 28.
“We respect the jury’s decision. But we are very disappointed with the result,” defense attorney Mark Cohen shared in a statement. “Mr. Bankman Fried maintains his innocence and will continue to vigorously fight the charges against him.”
According to prosecutors in the matter, Bankman-Fried allegedly swindled almost $10 billion from the victims of the fraud scheme as FTX was reportedly using customer contributions to fund Bankman-Fried’s lifestyle and purchases.
“The cryptocurrency industry might be new; players like Sam Bankman-Fried might be new. But this kind of fraud, this kind of corruption, is as old as time, and we have no patience for it,” U.S. Attorney Damian Williams said of the case.
Bankman-Friend is the son of Stanford University professors Joseph Bankman and Barbara Fried, both of whom attended the trial. Fried’s mother was said to be wrought with emotion after hearing the verdict against her son.
According to those who closely followed the case, the paper trail and testimony from former romantic partner and the former CEO of hedge fund Alameda Research, Caroline Ellison, along with accounts from former FTX executives, helped sink Bankman-Fried’s defense. But it appears that it was Bankman-Fried himself who didn’t fare well during intense cross-examination sessions.

Yung Bleu was arrested for battery of a woman after an alleged fight concerning child custody in Georgia.
According to reports, the rapper Yung Bleu was reportedly arrested after a confrontation with a young woman in an apparent custody dispute in Georgia on Sunday (October 15). Yung Bleu, aka Jeremy Biddle, was charged with misdemeanor battery.
The Hall County Sheriff’s Office told the press that officers had responded to a 911 call made from a home in Gainesville. Upon arrival, a woman there claimed that Yung Bleu had shown up at the home unannounced and declared that he would be taking the ten-year-old child living there back with him. It was then that she got into an argument with the rapper, who she alleges picked her up and threw her onto the ground, causing her to injure her right hip and shoulder. The woman refused to go to the hospital but was treated at the scene by EMS personnel.
The unidentified woman then told officers that Yung Bleu did take the child with him, but then he returned soon after before leaving again without the child. Shortly after that, the “You’re Mines Still” rapper spoke with the authorities and agreed to turn himself in. He was charged and booked into the Hall County Jail, obtaining his release a few days later after posting a $2,400 bond.
The news comes as rumors have swirled of a potential divorce between Yung Bleu and his wife, Tiemeria after she accused him of cheating. The rapper also pushed back against the allegations of assault in a now-deleted Instagram post, writing:
“I’m off this internet thing but I will take the time to tell all my ladies that may be a fan of Bleu. I cherish women and I’m completely innocent. Just no [sic] this about to be one of toughest times to be a fan of mines because ima about to go into another bracket as an OWNER and entrepreneur and people hate and you know! THEY. Hate that.”

Tekashi 6ix9ine was arrested in the Dominican Republic Sunday after the rapper, who suffered a beatdown at an LA Fitness in Florida earlier this year, allegedly dished out a beatdown of his own on music producers who were apparently in the company of his girlfriend.
According to TMZ, 6ix9ine, born Daniel Hernandez, was taken into custody Sunday night at the Hotel Balcones del Atlántico in Sánchez in the province of Samaná by La Vega prosecutor Aura Luv Garcia, who is leading the investigation into the case. Video footage circling around social media shows the chaotic scene that erupted when the “GOOBA” rapper arrived at the DR jail.
From TMZ:
Tekashi’s reportedly been accused of beating up music producers in the country with a handful of other men … after allegedly getting into it over his new girlfriend, Yailin.
Reports say Yailin was in the studio when 6ix9ine showed up with his crew — and the rapper was allegedly jealous of the producers spending time with his girl.Tekashi reportedly tried flying out of the country after the incident, but the charter company followed protocol and checked with immigration for any outstanding warrants — resulting in the rapper bailing on the plane idea.
This is 6ix9ine’s second arrest in the last few months as he was also arrested in Florida in August for skipping a court date.
It’s worth pointing out that someone who can’t stop getting into legal trouble and is known for snitching in order to get himself out of legal trouble should probably be steered clear from if one happens to be a friend of his who dabbles in illegal activity. Just saying.

Fans of the French rapper known as MHD are in shock as they’ve learn that the man who is credited with pioneering afro-trap has just been sentenced to 12 years in prison for a murder he is said to have committed in 2018.
According to The Guardian, the 29-year-old rapper, born Mohamed Sylla, along with five other co-defendants were sentenced to prison for the 2018 incident in which they were accused of ramming a young man with a car before getting out and stabbing him to death. With prison terms ranging from 10 to 18 years, prosecutors say the violence was the result of a gang dispute that turned deadly. Three other men involved in the case were acquitted, but those who were convicted have 10 days to appeal the sentencing.
The Guardian reports:
During MHD’s final statement to the court before it retired to consider its verdict after three weeks of proceedings, he again said he was innocent. “From the beginning, I have maintained my innocence in this case and I will continue to maintain my innocence,” he told the packed court.
On the night of 5 July 2018, 23-year-old Loic K was rammed by a black Mercedes and then beaten up and stabbed by around a dozen people in the French capital’s 10th arrondissement.
MHD, whose real name is Mohamed Sylla, denied having been at the scene, but a local resident filmed the incident from his window and the Mercedes was identified as belonging to MHD.
…
The car was found abandoned and burned out in a car park a day after the killing.
Witnesses reportedly pointed out MHD’s presence by describing his haircut and the Puma sweatshirt he was allegedly wearing. This is despite the rapper’s claims that he was not at the scene.
Though MHD’s family, friends and fans are no doubt broken up over this ruling, the lawyer for the victim’s family Juliette Chapelle, said that “a judicial truth emerged despite the law of silence.”
MHD for his part maintains his innocence and will more than likely appeal the sentence.

Looks like Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman’s son really is following in his father’s footsteps as Ovidio Guzman Lopez has just been extradited from Mexico to the U.S. to face justice in a court of law like his daddy did a few years ago.
According to Raw Story,

(The Mouse) was taken to the U.S. this past Friday (September 15) to face narcotics and drug trafficking charges linked to the explosive fentanyl crisis that’s led to numerous deaths over the past few years. Don’t expect any goons to travel to the U.S. and force authorities to release “El Raton” like they did in Mexico a few years back though. U.S. don’t play that ish.
Raw Story reports:

Garland hailed the extradition as “the most recent step in the Justice Department’s effort to attack every aspect of the cartel’s operations.”
“The Justice Department will continue to hold accountable those responsible for fueling the opioid epidemic that has devastated too many communities across the country.”
The White House also lauded the extradition as part of “ongoing cooperation” with Mexico, a sign the administration of President Joe Biden is eager to get past the friction with Mexico over antinarcotics efforts.
“We thank our Mexican counterparts for their partnership in working to safeguard our peoples from violent criminals,” said the statement by Homeland Security Advisor Liz Sherwood-Randall, released by the White House.
The news comes just after El Chapo’s wife was released after doing her own baby bid for partaking in her hubby’s business.
While Lopez will be facing drug trafficking charges in the U.S., the man also has a reputation for being extremely violent and calling for the murders of rivals, informants and even a popular Mexican singer who refused to sing at his wedding. Man, that’s just cold. Y’all know this man’s going to have the book thrown at him.
While we’re almost sure Lopez will be convicted and sentenced to life in prison like his father, we’re just wondering if they’ll actually end up in the same prison when it’s all said and done. Just sayin.’

Life is coming superfast at Desiigner. The struggle rapper has been ordered to register as sex offender due to his indecent exposure case.
As you might have heard, the “Panda” rapper was infamously arrested after he was spotted pleasuring himself on an international flight. Yeah, masturbating on a plane mid-flight is against the law. Reportedly, Desiigner, born Sidney Selby, exposed himself to a flight attendant on a flight back to the States back from Asia back in April 2023, and checked himself into a mental facility shortly after the incident.
Interestingly, or fortunately, Desiigner only received probation after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor charge of indecent exposure on an aircraft with a sentence of 2 year of probation and 120 hours of community service. But TMZ Hip Hop reports that the judge has ordered the Brooklyn native to register as a sex offender while more conditions of his probation include undergoing a psychiatric evaluation, not being allowed to own a firearm and ongoing drug testing.
Desiigner, who was once signed to G.O.O.D. Music and was part of XXL mag’s 2016 Freshman Class of up and coming rappers, pinned the incident on a bad cocktail of mental health drugs he had taken while performing internationally. The struggle is real.

A Bronx judge just threw out a gang of cases thanks to a narcotics police officer who has been accused of playing dirty in order to secure numerous drug busts.
According to Gothamist, a judge in the Boogie Down dismissed 67 cases that were linked to undercover narcotics detective Joseph Franco who was fired from the NYPD in 2020 for making false statements about his arrests. With the 67 cases thrown out, the courts in the Bronx have now thrown out 324 cases due to “potentially wrongful convictions.”
The Gothamist reports:
“Prosecutors had relied on evidence from someone with compromised credibility, and the district attorney cannot stand behind these convictions,” Bronx DA Darcel Clark said in a press release.
Neither the NYPD nor Franco’s attorney immediately responded to requests for comment.
The latest batch of dismissed cases involves people who were charged between 2011 and 2015, when Franco was a detective in the Bronx. Of the 67 convictions, 24 were for seventh-degree criminal possession of a substance — a low-level drug possession charge — and nine were for marijuana offenses that are no longer illegal in New York, according to the DA’s office. Others were for fourth-degree criminal facilitation — when someone helps another person to commit a crime — and for using drug paraphernalia.
Franco himself stood trial for perjury and misconduct earlier this year as prosecutors accused him of lying about drug sales he claimed to have witnessed on both police paperwork and in court. Armed with videos that they claim show it would have been impossible for Franco to have seen what he said he had witnessed, the DA’s office called him out in a court of law but Franco ultimately had the charges dismissed as prosecutors failed to give the defense all the evidence they had as is required by law.
“His lies were a poison that tainted any fair or legitimate case,” Assistant DA Samantha Dworken said during opening statements in January.
Franco’s defense attorney, Howard Evan Tanner, denied that the former detective lied and said any contradictions in his statements were unintentional.
“I think he was trying to do his job to the best of his ability,” Tanner said in court.
Of course you do, Mr. Tanner. Of course you do.

Residents in Pennsylvania are on high-alert as a convicted murderer remains on the loose six days after he escaped from police custody in a while Spider-Man-ish manner.
According to Raw Story, 34-year Brazilian national Danelo Cavalcante was able to escape the Chester County Prison this past August 31st when he was left alone and literally crab walked up two parallel walls before ultimately making it onto the roof where he then sprinted to freedom. While residents should be worried about having Cavalcante roaming the streets, you lowkey have to appreciate his athleticism and wonder what kind of calisthenics program this man was on to make such a daring escape.
Local schools have shut down and authorities are asking residents to lock their doors as the manhunt for Cavalcante continues. Danelo Cavalcante was recently sentenced to life in prison for stabbing his girlfriend to death, so naturally he’s considered a very dangerous individual.
Raw Story reports:
Bevins warned residents that Cavalcante was likely looking to burglarize their homes looking for food, clothes and other supplies.
“Cavalcante has clearly already obtained some clothing and unknown other supplies and we want to minimize any opportunity to obtain anything more,” Bevins said. “It is important that we keep pressure on him as we continue the hunt.”
Resident Joe Delahanty, 40, was stopped four times by officers on his way to work early Wednesday, including a state trooper asking him to open the trunk of his car as they looked for Cavalcante.
“This is the first time in nine years that I’ve felt the need to lock my house doors when leaving for work,” Delahanty told the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Keep those doors locked and make sure the chimney’s are well guarded too because this killer’s a climber.
Cavalcante was last seen on Monday night when he was captured by trail cameras at a botanical garden near Philadelphia. Police are offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the capture of the athletic murderer but until that hot tip comes in, authorities will be using drones, helicopters, night-vision goggles, and dogs to get their man.
