Red Bull Dance Your Style, the all-styles dance competition returns to the dance floor this year via four regional qualifier events that start next month in the United States. This year, the global contest will host the World Final in India later this year.
Dance Your Style will host regional qualifiers in Chicago, Memphis, Boston, and Los Angeles before hosting the National Final in Atlanta. As always, the all-styles competition means just that as all dance styles will get a platform including breaking, house, footwork, popping, turfing, and more. How the dance competition stands out is that instead of planned routines, the competitors do their best to outdo each other while trying to win over the crowd, who stand as the judges in place of a panel before advancing to the next round.

One of the beautiful things about Dance Your Style is the fact dancers from all manner of backgrounds join together and show up for one another despite the competitive nature of the event. As 2022 USA champion David “The Crown” Stalter shares, this is an event for the community and a chance of a lifetime.
“Red Bull Dance Your Style is an essential platform for the dance community. It takes dance battles to the next level, giving dancers of any background a space to show off their unique style and connect with other artists from around the world. It’s a genuine celebration of different cultures,” The Crown shared in a statement. “It also allows the audience to appreciate the improvisational nature of battling and makes them feel like they are part of the experience through crowd voting.”
After the National Final in Atlanta, the winners from each of the various global competitions around the world will face off at the World Final in Mumbai, India in November. We’ll share the full schedule of United States qualifier events, along with ways to find out more about the competition below.
Hip-Hop Wired has attended some past events and we strongly suggest you check out the competition in your respective regions if possible. There is nothing in the world quite like it. To the dancers, we wish you all the best.

Breaking Out: An Artist & Discovery Platform contains multiple endeavors, and its first one launched Monday, while others will be announced in the coming months. Honda Hot 16 is a unique freestyle competition where Raedio and Honda are in search for the next breakout star.

“Partnering with Honda to discover new talent will redefine how audiences engage with artists and music experiences,” said Clarissa Reformina, Raedio senior vp of strategy, in an emailed statement. “This collaboration is aligned with Raedio’s mission to serve creators first with new platforms and produce culturally relevant music, digital content and podcasts.”

Artists can text “HONDA HOT 16” to 310-356-9895 to learn how to upload their freestyle in order to be considered in the competition, or they can visit theraedio.com/raedioxhonda. Artists can then download the #HondaHot16 beat provided by Raedio, record their best 16 bars over it and submit it. The top three winners of the 16-bar competition will be announced on March 1, 2023.

The first-place winner will receive an all-expenses paid trip to Los Angeles in the spring and the opportunity to be the opening performer for a very special headlining act at the Roxy Theater. The second and third place winners will have the chance to win a one-on-one meeting with a Raedio executive, studio time with an engineer, Bluetooth audio devices and cash gift cards.

The competition series was also launched to help expand Honda’s music programming, which includes the Civic Tour that has provided more than five million fans with exclusive, interactive concert experiences and Honda Stage partnership with Billboard that brings music’s up-and-coming stars to the stage and their stories to life.

“Honda’s collaboration with Raedio advances our commitment to helping artists on the rise by providing them with a platform to pursue their dreams,” added Phil Hruska, senior marketing manager at Honda. “This latest Honda music initiative also enables us to build new relationships with young, multicultural customers and introduce them to fun-to-drive Honda vehicles.”

Apple TV+ will boot scoot into the reality music competition space on March 24 with the launch of My Kind of Country. The series will feature country stars Jimmie Allen, Mickey Guyton and masked crooner Orville Peck as scouts who will search the world to find the next big country star. In addition, executive producers actress Reese Witherspoon and singer Kacey Musgraves will be featured in the series.

The show was described in Friday’s (Jan. 13) release as, “a fresh take on a competition series, breaking down barriers in country music by providing an extraordinary opportunity to diverse and innovative artists from around the world.” The three A-list scouts will choose a roster of up-and-coming artists, who they will invite to Nashville to showcase their sounds for the panel in a chance to win a once-in-a-lifetime shot at stardom.

The winner of the eight-episode series will receive what is described as a “life-changing prize” from Apple Music that will include “unprecedented support and exposure on the platform.”

In addition to Witherspoon and Musgraves, the show’s other executive producers include Hello Sunshine’s Sara Rea and Lauren Neustadter; Sandbox Entertainment’s Jason Owen; Emmy-nominated showrunner Izzie Pick Ibarra (The Masked Singer, Dancing With the Stars); and Done + Dusted’s Katy Mullan (The Disney Family Singalong, The Little Mermaid Live!). Emmy-winner Adam Blackstone (Justin Timberlake, Alicia Keys, Faith Hill) is the series’ music director.
