Chris Rockâs monologue for SNL jabbed at multiple figures in the news, including Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and the CEO of UnitedHealthcare who was killed in midtown Manhattan.
Last Saturdayâs (Dec. 14) episode of Saturday Night Live was hosted by veteran comedian Chris Rock. His opening monologue wasted no time in going after multiple people prominent in todayâs news but started off with a playful jab at show director Lorne Michaels for â25 great years of Saturday Night Live!â (The show is currently celebrating 50 years on the air.) Rock was a former cast member on the show from 1990 to 1993 and has hosted SNL three times in 1996, 2014, and 2020. He took a shot at Diddy first by bemoaning having to walk by a pack of âbaby oil-sniffing dogs.â
He continued by talking about the capture of Luigi Mangione, the suspected shooter of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in midtown Manhattan earlier this month. âI really feel sorry for the family,â Rock began. âEverybodyâs fixated on how good-looking this guy looks. If he looked like Jonah Hill, no one would care. Theyâd already given him the chair already â heâd be dead. But he actually killed a man â a man with a family, a man with kids. I have condolences. This is a real person, you know? But you also got to go, âYou know, sometimes drug dealers get shot.ââ
The Top Five actor also made sure to roast President-elect Donald Trump and his base of supporters by calling out the history of past American presidents and his proposed plans for mass deportation of undocumented immigrants. âMenendez brothers are getting out of jail â just in time to get deported. Trump is going to deport their ass, you murdering Mexicans!â he quipped before taking aim at tech billionaire Elon Musk. âHeâs working with the number one African American in the world. The richest African American in the world: Elon Musk. Thatâs right. He is African American. Elonâs got more kids than the Cleveland Browns. Thatâs right. Nobody knows how to get rid of people like a South African.â
Check out the entire monologue above.
Gracie Abrams and Heidi Gardner are big fans of Chris Rock in an unexpected way. Rock is set to host Saturday Night Live this weekend, with Abrams as the musical guest. In a new promo for the episode released on Thursday (Dec. 12), Gardner tells the comedian that he stars in both her and Abramsâ […]

Lifelong fans of Everybody Hate Chris rejoice: the show is returning, but it will look and sound slightly different.
Variety exclusively reports the 2000s hit comedic sitcom Everybody Hates Chris, which is loosely based on the childhood of comedian/actor Chris Rock, is coming to Comedy Central, but this time as a cartoon.
The website also notes that Terry Crews, Tichina Arnold, and Chris Rock will all reprise their roles in the animated show, but other OGs, Tyler James Williams, Imani Hakim, and Vincent Martella, will not be involved, and understandably so, they are much older now.
Fans will be happy to know that Rock, who served as an executive producer and the hilarious narrator in the live-action sitcom, will do the same for the animated series.
âIâm very excited to introduce the world to another funny side of my childhood,â Rock said.
Arnold and Crews will also reprise their roles as young Chrisâ parents, Julius and Rochelle.
A description of Julius on Variety describes him as âa gentle giant with a relentless work ethic, and cheap. He grew up dirt poor, so he knows the cost of everything down to the penny. He works two jobs to support the family, and on his days off, he takes on a third job.â
As for Rochelle, she âis smart, strong-willed, and has a nurturing spirit, but she can also be hot-headed, especially when it comes to her kids. She tolerates zero nonsense, so she quits more jobs in a month than most people do in a lifetime.â
Both characters went to gain cult status in pop culture because of their approach to parenting, especially Julius, for being so notoriously cheap.
The New Cast Members
As mentioned earlier, the new show will feature new cast members in the roles of young Chris, his siblings, and his best friend.
Per Variety:
Tim Johnson Jr. (âSaturdaysâ) will play young Chris, âa nerd who wants to be cool but heâs outshined by his younger brother, tortured by his little sister, and foiled by his cheapskate dad.â Ozioma Akagha (âDelilahâ) will voice Tonya, âChrisâ feisty baby sister, with the face of an angel and the heart of a demon, who gets along with her middle brother Drew but leaps at any chance to get Chris in trouble.â Terrence Little Gardenhigh (âDanger Forceâ) is the voice âDrew,â the âgolden child of the family who is the epitome of Black Excellence: handsome, athletic, a ladies man, taller and cooler than his older brother Chris.â Gunnar Sizemore (âKung Fu Pandaâ) will play Greg, Chrisâs only friend at school âwho is girl-obsessed, status conscious and raised by a single dad.âÂ
Thankfully, you donât have to wait too long to watch Everybody Hates Chris; it will premiere on Comedy Central later this year and also on Paramount+.
We just hope it wonât be another Good Times situation.

Stephen A. Smith offered his viewpoints on Will Smith just as the celebrated actor is enjoying some success due to the latest film in the Bad Boys franchise going number over the weekend. Stephen A. Smith, using his podcast platform, believes that Will Smith should address the Black community regarding the slapping incident involving Chris Rock at the Oscars, although it appears the community in question still loves The Fresh Prince.
Via an X reply from The Art of Dialogue page, a clip of Stephen A. Smith went wide with the host opening the clip saying that forgiveness aside, Will owes the Black community an explanation. Smith did go on to add that he doesnât harbor any hatred towards the Philadelphia native and even said that conversations with Charlie Mack, a longtime friend of the rapper and actor, helped him see the light.
That said, Smith is committed to the idea that enough wasnât done to ease the minds of the community and that Chris Rock is owed more than what heâs received. As most would know, apologies have long been issued for the Oscars slap, which were inspired by Rock making jokes about Jada Pinkett-Smithâs appearance.
It has been a long climb back to glory for Smith after largely staying out of the public eye before resurfacing and allowing himself to provide content and entertainment to his legion of fans. Alongside Martin Lawrence, the success of Bad Boys: Ride or Die has inspired some people to say it deserves the same sequel-heavy treatment as the Fast & Furious franchise.
Check out the video from Stephen A. Smith regarding the Chris Rock Oscars incident, along with reaction to this latest clip and more, below.

A Martin Luther King Jr. biopic directed by Chris Rock? Yes, this is actually happening.
Spotted on Variety, the victim of Will Smithâs mighty hand, Chris Rock, is in final talks to team up with Steven Spielberg to bring us a new film focusing on the life of civil rights icon Martin Luther King Jr.Â
The website reports that Rock will serve as a director while Spielberg will be onboard as an executive producer on the upcoming film.
The film will be back by Universal Pictures and will pull all its information from Jonathan Eigâs biography âKing: A Life,â which the film studio has already optioned.
Per Variety:
Eigâs book has been called the definitive biography of the late civil rights icon. It uses new FBI information and hundreds of interviews to paint a portrayal of King as a âcourageous but emotionally troubled individual who demanded peaceful protest while grappling with his own frailties and a government that hunted him.â Since itâs early in the development process, casting has not been announced.
This will not be the first time Rock will sit in the directorâs chair for a film. His previous directing credits include 2014âs Top Five, also starring Rosario Dawson, 2003âs Head of State, and 2007âs I Think I Love My Wife.
If youâre itching to see Rock in front of the camera again, he will be starring alongside Colman Domingo in the upcoming Netflix film Rustin, which follows the man who was an advisor to MLK.
Earlier this year, Rock used a Netflix Live standup special, Chris Rock: Selective Outrage, to finally break his silence about the infamous slap moment and other topics.
Itâs good to see Chris Rock is out here working, but MLK biopic? Weâre not sure this is something we want to see him directing.

Chris Rock is done delivering hot takes. Oops, we mean jokes. No, heâs not talking about Jada Pinkett and Will Smith. He is now focusing on Donald Trump.
For those who have been under a rock or in their social bubble, the word on the street is that Donald Trump will be arrested. Well, the word came from the disgraced former president himself. The orange menace wrote on his sorry a** social media platform in all caps, âWILL BE ARRESTED ON TUESDAY OF NEXT WEEK,â sparking outrage from loyal MAGA clowns and hilarious AI-generated images of him either running from the law or getting cuffs put on him.
Anyway, Deadline reports that Rock decided to chime in on the matter while paying tribute to his good friend Adam Sandler during the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor at the Kennedy Center in DC on Sunday night. The comedian joked that if Trump gets arrested, it will âmake him more popular,â comparing him to the late rapper Tupac, who saw his album Me Against The World sell over 3 million copies while in jail.
Per Deadline:
Chris Rock noted the big news of the weekend: The potential arrest of Donald Trump in New York, as the former president has called on his supporters to protest.
âAre you guys really going to arrest Trump? Do you know that this is only going to make him more popular? It is like arresting Tupac. Heâs just going to sell more records. Are you stupid? He slept with a porn star and paid off someone so his wife wouldnât find out. Thatâs romantic.â
Will This Really Help or Hurt Trump?
Popular with who is the question? Rock is echoing an argument that some political talking heads are making, but is Trump finally paying for his crimes really going to energize a base of people already in bed with him?
We shall see.
Plus, there are Republicans who want Trump to go away and are looking for a new leader of the party who isnât a legal liability.
We still want to see him thrown in jail, and, plus, WE LOVE that its Black prosecutors leading the charge. Just saying.

August Alsina found himself mentioned in the news once again after Chris Rock took to the stage over the weekend in a new Netflix standup comedy special. During Rockâs set, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith were in the comedianâs crosshairs and while sources said Alsina found the jokes âfunny,â the singer denied the rumors and hasnât seen the special.
August Alsina, 30, and Pinkett Smith, 51, were previously engaged in what was framed as an âentanglementâ and exposed the world to the inner workings of the relationship between Smith and his wife in grand detail. While rumors of their union have persisted for years, the revelation went far past anyoneâs expectations.
Related Stories
Rockâs recent special, Selective Outrage, didnât primarily focus on his issues with Smith or Pinkett Smith directly but it was the elephant in the room during the entire special. According to sources speaking to the New York Post, Alsina had a nice chuckle at the expense of the Smiths.
From the New York Post:
âAugust watched the Netflix special and he laughed,â a source told The Post. âHe thought it was not only funny but truthful. That was the best part for him.â
However, a rep for August Alsina told Entertainment Tonight that the rumors their client watched the Rock special were false.
âMr. Alsina has not seen Chris Rockâs special at all, as heâs been busy on tour,â the rep continued.

Itâs been almost a year since the slap heard around the world, when Will Smith stormed the stage at the Oscars on March 27, 2022, to smack Chris Rock across the face on live television.
The tense moment occurred after Rock made an onstage joke about Smithâs wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, during the Academy Awards ceremony. âJada, I love you. G.I Jane 2, canât wait to see it,â the comedian said about her shaved head â which, unbeknownst to Rock, is caused by the actressâ struggles with alopecia.
Pinkett Smith rolled her eyes in response, while Smith laughed. Shortly after, the King Richard actor ran up on stage to slap Rock, who attempted to continue his banter before Smith began shouting from his seat, âKeep my wifeâs name out your fâing mouth.â
In the year since then, Smith has issued a number of apologies, others who were present at the situation have spoken up about what went down and Chris Rock has make jokes about the incident throughout his comedy specials.
With the 2023 Oscars on the way, see below for a timeline of everything that has gone down between Smith and Rock since the slap.
March 27, 2022: Will Smith’s Acceptance Speech
Shortly after the incident, Smith won the best actor award for his portrayal of Venus and Serena Williamsâ dad Richard Williams in King Richard.Â
âRichard Williams was a fierce defender of his family,â Smith said during his acceptance speech, seeming to allude to the viral moment. He then mentioned some of his King Richard costars. âIn this time in my life, in this moment, I am overwhelmed by what God is calling on me to do and be in this world. Making this film, I got to protect Aunganue Ellis, who is one of the most strongest, most delicate people Iâve ever met. I got to protect Saniyya [Sidney] and Demi [Singleton], the two actresses who play Venus and Serena. Iâm being called on in my life to love people and to protect people and to be a river to my people.â
âNow I know to do what we do, you gotta be able to take abuse. You gotta be able to have people talk crazy about you. In this business you have to be able to have people disrespecting you. And you gotta smile and pretend thatâs OK,â he continued, becoming increasingly emotional, tears welling up in his eyes. âDenzel [Washington] said to me a few minutes ago, he said, âAt your highest moment, thatâs when the devil comes for you.ââ
Smith then delivered his mea culpa, though without mentioning Rock. âI want to apologize to the Academy, I want to apologize to my fellow nominees,â he said, continuing to tear up. âThis is a beautiful moment and Iâm not crying for winning an award. Itâs not about winning an award for me. Itâs about being able to shine a light on all of the people ⌠Art imitates life. I look like the crazy father just like they said ⌠just like they said about Richard Williams. Love will make you do crazy things.â
March 28, 2022: Chris Rock Declines to Press Charges
âLAPD investigative entities are aware of an incident between two individuals during the Academy Awards program,â the department said in a statement, NBC reported. âThe incident involved one individual slapping another. The individual involved has declined to file a police report. If the involved party desires a police report at a later date, LAPD will be available to complete an investigative report.â
NBC News reported that spokespeople for Rock did not return requests for comment, and that senior sources at the LAPD said officers typically donât take action in this kind of suspected misdemeanor battery investigation unless the victim wants to press charges or help fill out an incident report.
March 28, 2022: The Academy Releases Statement, Opens Formal Review
âThe Academy does not condone violence of any form,â the organization tweeted. âTonight we are delighted to celebrate our 94th Academy Awards winners, who deserve this moment of recognition from their peers and movie lovers around the world.â

Later, in a statement to Billboard, the organization shared, âThe Academy condemns the actions of Mr. Smith at last nightâs show. We have officially started a formal review around the incident and will explore further action and consequences in accordance with our Bylaws, Standards of Conduct and California law.â
March 28, 2022: Will Smith Issues an Apology
Smith shared a statement via Instagram, apologizing for his actions. âViolence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive. My behavior at last nightâs Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable. Jokes at my expense are a part of the job, but a joke about Jadaâs medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally,â Smith wrote in a lengthy message. âI would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness.â
He continued, âI would also like to apologize to the Academy, the producers of the show, all the attendees and everyone watching around the world. I would like to apologize to the Williams Family and my King Richard Family. I deeply regret that my behavior has stained what has been an otherwise gorgeous journey for all of us. I am a work in progress.â

March 29, 2022: Jada Pinkett Smith Calls For âSeason For HealingâÂ
Jada Pinkett Smith posted her own Instagram message amid the drama, declaring that âthis is a season for healing.â
âAnd Iâm here for it,â Pinkett Smith added in the post, which made no direct reference to the incident. See her post here.
March 29, 2022: Will Smith’s Mom Weighs In
Smithâs mother, Caroline Bright, shared her thoughts on the slap in an interview with Philadelphiaâs ABC affiliate 6abc, calling the experience a âfirstâ for her. â[Will] is a very even, people person. Thatâs the first time Iâve ever seen him go off. First time in his lifetime ⌠Iâve never seen him do that,â she said.
March 30, 2022: Chris Rock Breaks His Silence
The comedian spoke out publicly about the incident for the first time during his stand-up show in Boston. âHow was your weekend?â he asked the crowd, who began laughing, as reported by Variety. âI donât have a bunch of shâ about what happened, so if you came to hear that, I have a whole show I wrote before this weekend. Iâm still kind of processing what happened. So at some point, Iâll talk about that shâ. And it will be serious and funny.â
The audience then broke into a chant, shouting âFâ Will Smith,â which can be heard in the audio Variety posted on Instagram here.
April 1, 2022: Will Smith Resigns From The Academy
In a statement obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, Smith said he was heartbroken and would accept all consequences for his conduct.
âMy actions at the 94th Academy Awards presentation were shocking, painful, and inexcusable. The list of those I have hurt is long and includes Chris, his family, many of my dear friends and loved ones, all those in attendance, and global audiences at home,â Smith said in the statement. âI betrayed the trust of the Academy. I deprived other nominees and winners of their opportunity to celebrate and be celebrated for their extraordinary work. I am heartbroken. I want to put the focus back on those who deserve attention for their achievements and allow the Academy to get back to the incredible work it does to support creativity and artistry in film.â
Smithâs resignation means he can no longer vote for the Oscars â but he can still be nominated for future Academy Awards, attend future ceremonies and keep the statue he won.
âWe have received and accepted Mr. Will Smithâs immediate resignation from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences,â the Academy said in a statement. âWe will continue to move forward with our disciplinary proceedings against Mr. Smith for violations of the Academyâs Standards of Conduct, in advance of our next scheduled board meeting on April 18.â
April 3, 2022: ‘SNL’ Reenacts the Incident
In a later sketch in the episode, Jarrod Carmichael and Chris Redd poked fun at the slap. âSeat fillerâ Carmichael went up to Reddâs Smith, telling him he was such a fan of his and asked him for a selfie. In the background, voiceover can be heard of Rockâs G.I. Jane joke about Smithâs wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, who has a shaved head and has been open about her struggle with alopecia.
âI donât wanna sound corny, but youâre like my hero, man,â Carmichael told Reddâs Smith. âThis is the coolest man in my life. Iâm talking to Will Smith. Chris Rock just got up onstage.â
Reddâs Smith told Carmichael heâd be right back and went onstage to slap Rock, returning to his seat shortly after as if nothing was wrong.
âI like your tux, by the way,â Redd told Carmichael. âLook good, feel good,â he continued before turning his attention to the stage and shouting, âKeep my wifeâs name out your fâing mouth,â like Smith yelled at Rock at the Oscars on Sunday.
Watch it here.
April 4, 2022: Chris Rock’s Brother Kenny Weighs In
In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Kenny shared that he thinks Smithâs apology was nothing more than a PR move. âNo, I donât accept it because I donât think it was genuine,â he said. âI think his publicist and the people that work under him probably advised him to do that.â (Another of Rockâs other brothers, Tony, also said he does not accept Smithâs apology and said the entire fiasco was âfoul.â)
He continued, âI might have looked at it differently had he initially apologized when he got on the stage and cried and accepted the award, but he didnât, so, right there that tells me that it is something else.â
As for Smith remaining in the ceremony after slapping Rock, and later accepting the best actor award for his role in King Richard? Kenny (as well as other celebrities in attendance) believes that was a misstep on the Academyâs part.
âHe should have been escorted out of there,â he said. âI hold them accountable for that. He could have went up there and did anything you wanted to my brother. It could have been much worse than what he did.â Kenny added that Smith âbelittled my brother. He had no respect for him. ⌠In my opinion, he embarrassed himself by doing that and his legacy by doing that.â
April 8, 2022: Will Smith Banned From Attending Any Academy Events for 10Â Years
Smith will not be permitted to attend any Academy events or programs for the next 10 years in the wake of his conduct. That means Smith will not be allowed to present the award to 2023âs best actress winner, a time-honored tradition at the Oscars.
Academy president David Rubin and CEO Dawn Hudson released an âopen letter to our Academy familyâ about their decision, which you can read in full here.
April 23, 2022: Chris Rock’s Mom Speaks Out
Rose Rock, an author and motivational speaker, told WIS that the comedian is doing well but âstill processingâ the incident that led Smith to resign from the Academy. âI told someone, when Will slapped Chris, he slapped all of us, but he really slapped me,â she said. âWhen you hurt my child, you hurt me.â
When asked what she would say to Smith, Rose shared, âIÂ have no idea what I would say other than, âWhat in the world were you thinking?â Because you did a slap, but so many things could have happened. Chris could have stepped back and fallen. You really could have gotten taken out in handcuffs. You didnât think. You reacted to your wife giving you the side-eye, and you went up, and you made her day because she was bowled over laughing when it happened.â
She added that she didnât think the apology Smith posted to his Instagram account on the day after the ceremony felt genuine. âI feel really bad that he never apologized,â Rock said. âHis people wrote up a piece and said, âI apologize to Chris Rock,â but something like that is personal. You reach out.â
June 1, 2022: Jada Pinkett Smith Breaks Silence
On an episode of her Red Table Talk series, Pinkett Smith said, âMy deepest hope is that these two intelligent, capable men have an opportunity to heal, talk this out and reconcile.â
She added, âthe state of the world today, we need âem both. And we all actually need one another more than ever. Until then, Will and I are continuing to do what we have done for the last 28 years, and thatâs keep figuring out this thing called life together.â

July 28, 2022: Chris Rock Addresses Will Smith Slap During Stand-Up Show
On his Rock Hart Only Headliners Allowed tour stop with Kevin Hart at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, New Jersey, Rock reportedly made one of the most specific references to date addressing his feelings surrounding the slap.
âAnyone who says words hurt has never been punched in the face,â Rock, 57, said during his set, according to US Weekly, citing an unnamed eyewitness to the set. Rock also reportedly later referred to Smith â who has kept a low-to-no profile since the incident â as âSuge Smith,â seemingly a reference to the disgraced, currently imprisoned former Death Row Records CEO and strongman Marion âSugeâ Knight.
âIâm not a victim, motherfâker,â he added, saying he âshook that sât off and returned to work.â Now, donât get him wrong, Rock said, âyeah, that sât hurt, motherfâker. But I shook that sât off and went to work the next day⌠I donât go to the hospital for a papercut.â
July 29, 2022: Will Smith Issues Video Apology
Smith returned from his social media break with a video titled âitâs been a minuteâ to his YouTube page, answering questions regarding the Oscars incident and issue another apology to Rock, as well as Rockâs family.
While answering the question of why he did not take the opportunity to apologize for the slap during his acceptance speech after winning best actor, Smith said he was not in a clear state of mind. âI was fogged out by that point. It is all fuzzy. Iâve reached out to Chris and the message that came back is that, heâs not ready to talk. When he is, he will reach out. I will say to you, Chris, I apologize to you. My behavior was unacceptable and I am here whenever you are ready to talk,â he said.
Smith continued, âI want to apologize to Chrisâs mother. I saw an interview [she] did, and that was one of the things I just didnât realize. I wasnât thinking, but how many people got hurt in that moment. I want to apologize to Chrisâ mother, I want to apologize to Chrisâs family, specifically Tony Rock. We had a great relationship. Tony Rock was my man. This is probably irreparable. I spent the last three months replaying and understanding the nuance and complexity of what happened in that moment. Iâm not going to try to unpack all of that right now, but I can say to all of you, there is no part of me that thinks that was the right way to behave in that moment. No part of me that thinks that is the optimal way to handle a feeling of disrespect or insult.â

July 29, 2022: Will Smith Reflects on âHorrific Nightâ of Oscars Slap
During an appearance on The Daily Show With Trevor Noah this week, Smith called the situation a âhorrific night.â
While he added that there were ânuances and complexitiesâ to the moment, he âlost itâ during the ceremony. âAnd I guess what I would say, you just never know what somebody is going through,â he continued. âI was going through something that night. Not that that justifies my behavior at all.â
Smith noted that there âwas a rage that had been bottled for a really long time,â and that the most painful part of it all was that âI took my hard and made it hard for other people. I understood the idea where they say that hurt people hurt people.â Noah then pointed out how in Smithâs memoir, the actor shared that he grew up being afraid of conflict.
âIt was a lot of things,â Smith said in response. âIt was the little boy that watched his father beat up his mother, you know. All of that just bubbled up in that moment. Thatâs not who I want to be.â

February 14, 2023: Academy President Reflects on Response to the Slap
Academy President Janet Yang reiterated during the 2023 Oscars Nominees Luncheon that the organizationâs response to the 2022 ceremony was âinadequateâ and that âwe must act swiftly, compassionately and decisivelyâ on similar issues in the future.
âAs Iâm sure you all remember we experienced an unprecedented event at the Oscars,â Yang said. âWhat happened on stage was wholly unacceptable and the response from the organization was inadequate. We learned from this that the Academy must be fully transparent and accountable in our actions and particularly in times of crisis.â
âWe must act swiftly, compassionately and decisively for ourselves and for our industry. You should and can expect no less from us going forward,â she added. âWe are committed to maintaining the highest of standards while creating the changes we wish to see in our industry.â
March 5, 2023: Chris Rock Slams Will Smith in Netflix Comedy Special
During Netflixâs first live special Chris Rock: Selective Outrage!, the comedian finally addressed the smackdown at length â and didnât hold back, Smithâs marital issues (in which Pinkett Smith acknowledged a relationship with singer August Alsina).
âWill Smith practices selective outrage,â Rock told the audience. âOutrage because everybody knows what the fâ happened. Everybody that really knows, knows that I have nothing to do with that sâ. I didnât have any entanglements.â
He continued, âHis wife was fâing her sonâs friend. OK, now, I normally would not talk about this sâ, but for some reason, these nâ-s put that sâ on the internet. I have no idea why two talented people would do something that lowdown. What the fâ? And weâve all been cheated on. Everybody in here has been cheated on. None of us have ever been interviewed by the person that cheated on us on television.â
âShe hurt him way more than he hurt me. Everybody in the world called him a bâ-. I tried to call the motherfâer, I tried to call that man and give him my condolences, he didnât pick up for me.â He continued by listing all the people who called Smith a âbâ-â after that interview on Red Table Talk, including Charlamagne Tha God and The View. âEverybody called him a bâ-, and who did he hit? Me â a nâa he knows he could beat. That is some bâ- ass shit.â
Toward the end of the special, Rock admitted, âI loved Will Smith. My whole life, I loved Will Smith. I saw him open up for Run-D.M.C. ⌠He makes great movies. I have rooted for Will Smith my whole life,â Rock said. âAnd now I watch Emancipation just to see him get whooped.â
Rock used the last minute of Selective Outrage to answer why he didnât do anything back. ââCause I got parents,â Rock said. ââCause I was raised. And you know what my parents taught me? Donât fight in front of white people.â

You knew it was going to happen. During his Netflix life show on Saturday night (March 4), Chris Rock: Selective Outrage, in Baltimore, Chris Rock pretty much eviscerated Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith with all the pent-up slander he could muster, but itâs not being universally applauded.
By now you know the story, after a flippant joke Rock told about his wife during the 2022 Oscars ceremony, Smith proceeded to walk onto the stage and smack fire out of the comedian. There were apologies, suspensions, debates, more apologies, but Rock never really went in depth about the incident.
Until last night.
Rock had a whole set with some potent, and a-ight, jokes (we predict coming for Meghan Markle ainât gonna fly), but you knew most people were waiting to here what he had to say about that. And he didnât disappoint.
âI got smacked at the f*cking Oscars by this motherf*cker. And people like, did it hurt? It still hurts,â said Rock said. âI got âSummertimeâ ringing in my ears.â
But Rock saved the most fiery stuff for Jada, who he said âstarted this sh*t.â
âEverybody in here has been cheated on,â said Rock, referencing the Smithâs infamous Red Table Talk where they discussed Jadaâs entanglement with August Alsina. âNone of us have ever been interviewed by the person that cheated on us on television.â After mentioning how everyone was calling Smith a b*tch after that moment, Rock added, âEverybody, and whoâs he hit? Me. A ni**a he knows he could beat. That is some bitch ass sh*t.â
However, although he got his full roast on, there are people who donât think he did much to help the situation and are quite critical of his performance. For instance, he still called Pinkett-Smith out of her name and plenty of people are taking note of potential misogynoir.
Another recurring criticism is Rock telling people to be careful of what they say in front of white people, but he sure had know problem going in on Black people in front of them himself.
