Lil Wayne, Marshmello, and other entertainers were revealed to have abused pandemic grants numbering into the millions, instead using the funds to splurge on hotels, trips, and other offenses. Among those named in the new report, the Shuttered Venue Operators Grant funds were reportedly misused by Rae Sremmurd, Chris Brown, and more.
In a new report from Business Insider, it was revealed that Lil Wayne, Marshello, Chris Brown, and members of the Alice In Chains band all received funds from the pandemic-era Shuttered Venue Operators Grant (SVOG) meant to supplant the careers of working musicians and the venues they perform in while much of the nation and world contended with the rise of the COVID-19 virus.
Lil Wayne received $8.9 million in SVOG funds, spending $1.3 million on private chartered flights and over $450,000 on clothing and other miscellaneous items. The report also showed that the New Orleans star spent over $175,000 on expenses for a music festival related to his GKUA cannabis brand, and clothes for artists on his Young Money record label. Further, $15,000 in grant funds were used on flights and hotels for women with loose connections to the rapper’s touring operation, one of which was also reported to be an adult actress.
The SVOG was touted by members of Congress as a means to keep venues afloat and help keep musicians and their staff financially whole as touring was all but shut down for many during the height of the pandemic.
The outlet came to uncover that beyond Wayne, Chris Brown used his $10 million in SVOG grant funds to pay for a birthday party that approached $80,000 in costs. He also pocketed $5.1 million of the SVOG funds personally by way of his company, CBE Touring. Brown also used $24,000 of the grant to pay for a tour bus from the United States to Tulum, Mexico in 2020 for a monthlong stay for him and his team but did not perform in the resort town.
Other names mentioned in the Business Insider report include Marshmello, who received $9.9 million in SVOG funds and reportedly pocketed it all. Rae Sremmurd’s Sreem Touring was given $7.7 million, which was paid to Swae Lee and Slim Jxmmi.
Representatives for the artists in question declined to comment on the findings of the report. As for any ramifications, the government has gotten back some of the misused funds from Chris Brown. It wasn’t stated if officials would go after the other individuals named.

Ray J, we’re to take Vince Staples‘ word for it, might be one of the most important figures within the culture although that is an arguable point. However, Ray J’s cache in the game almost took a literal hit after he allegedly almost got into some fisticuffs with three of Diddy‘s children with Chris Brown reportedly breaking up the beef.
According to a TMZ report, Ray J was in attendance at Tara Electra’s Unruly Agency Halloween party last weekend with King Combs aka Christian Combs, Justin Combs, and Quincy Brown.
Sources speaking directly with the outlet say that when the party was over, Ray J was making his exit to to the parking lot with an entourage that included Amber Rose and his manager David Weintraub. However, Sean “Diddy” Combs’ sons allegedly stopped him in his tracks. Recent comments made by the “One Wish” singer regarding Diddy didn’t sit well with his sons and they allegedly surrounded him.
Of the three, Justin and King really wanted to get it on like Waingro in the parking lot but Chris Brown witnessed the argument from his vehicle then hopped out of his ride and helped settle things with Ray J’s manager.
Apparently, this isn’t the first time the Combs brothers tried to step to Ray’s business, and from the looks of things, it might not be the last.

Chris Brown will be at the center of a new documentary to be released later this month with a focus on some of the R&B singer’s legal troubles over the years. Via the Investigation Discovery channel, Chris Brown: A History of Violence was announced with a new accuser coming forward in a trailer for the documentary.
As reported by Variety, the ID channel is launching its third annual No Excuse for Abuse campaign with the release of the Chris Brown: A History of Violence documentary. ID also released the explosive Nickelodeon documentary, Quiet on Set.
The documentary will examine the legal issues attached to Brown, which naturally will zero in on the domestic violence incident between him and his then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009. Brown has also faced allegations of sexual assault, assault, and other charges.
More from Variety:
According to the logline, “Chris Brown: A History of Violence” will chart “Chris Brown’s past all the way back to his troubled childhood, explores the lasting impact of the cycle of abuse, and poses the question: how does a man with such a violent public record maintain his superstar status? With expert and cultural commentary layered throughout, the documentary provides thoughtful reflections into each survivor’s experience and the psychological destruction in the aftermath of their abuse.”
As revealed in the trailer, a new accuser, whose identity is hidden, comes forward with allegations against Brown. “I have not spoken about this matter publicly, but that’s the only way he can be stopped,” the accuser says in the trailer.
Chris Brown: A History of Violence will be released on October 27 with The View co-host Sunny Hostin taking the lead in a conversation regarding intimate partner violence following the documentary.

Regardless of how anyone feels about controversial R&B singer Chris Brown, it’s time for people to stop laboring under the delusion that his history of alleged violence against women and violent outbursts, in general, begin and end with Rihanna.Instances and allegations of violent behavior have followed him throughout his career, and now he’s facing yet another lawsuit related to yet another allegation.
This time, the “Under The Influence” singer has been hit with a $50 million suit filed by four plaintiffs who claim they were assaulted by Brown and his team backstage at one of his concerts last Friday.
From Variety:
Larry Parker, Joseph Lewis, Charles Bush and Da Marcus Powell filed the suit in Harris County, Texas today against Brown as well as his tour promoter Live Nation, Sinko Ceej, Hood Boss and Yella Beezy. In addition to the payment, the four plaintiffs are asking for a temporary restraining order against all defendants.
According to the complaint, which was first reported by TMZ and obtained by Variety, Brown and his crew severely beat the plaintiffs following the singer’s performance as part of his 11:11 Tour at Dickies Arena in Ft. Worth, Texas this past Friday. The four men were invited backstage after the set to meet Brown, who showed up 30 minutes later than anticipated.
Before leaving, Bush approached Brown to congratulate him on the show, prompting a member of the singer’s entourage to remind Brown that the two previously had issues. Brown allegedly said, “Oh yeah, we were. What’s up, n—a? I don’t forget shit.” The suit states that Brown and seven to 10 members of his entourage proceeded to assault Bush and punch him in the chest, and claims that Hood Boss picked up a chair and threw it at Bush’s head.
The suit goes on to claim that Brown and his crew turned their attention to Parker, who tried to escape down a staircase that led to a locked door. Upon instruction from Brown, Parker was allegedly punched in the face and chest and kicked in the head for over 10 minutes. The suit also states that Powell was punched in the shoulder, while Lewis was hit in the shoulder and chest. All plaintiffs were injured and are currently undergoing medical treatment.
“No one should have to endure what these clients endured,” the plaintiffs’ attorney, Tony Buzbee, said in a statement. “We will seek the maximum amount of damages allowed by law for this egregious conduct.”
Buzbee elaborated on his opinion of the case in a statement to Dallas Morning News, saying, “This is Texas. The people here don’t care how important or famous you think you are, you have an obligation to follow the laws and conduct yourself in an appropriate way. Unprovoked violence can’t and won’t be tolerated. We intend to seek all damages that the law allows against Brown and his cohorts.”
So far, neither Brown, Beezy nor Live Nation have made any public statements regarding the latest lawsuit, and they would have an uphill battle explaining how the “Look at Me Now” artist is, once again, innocent of the kind of allegations he just doesn’t seem to be able to stop getting subjected to.
Last October, a man named Abe Diaw, who claimed to have known Brown for at least seven years, filed a lawsuit against the 35-year-old, claiming he spotted Brown at TAPE nightclub in England and tried to give him a friendly hug, which Diaw said resulted in Brown smashing him over the head with a bottle of Don Julio 1942 tequila and then proceeding to beat on him with “crushing blows” to Diaw’s surprise and confusion.
Look, it should be noted that many of the allegations of violence against Brown have not been proven. Still, it’s hard to believe everybody is telling the same general lie about a perfectly innocent man who does happen to have several proven instances of violence attached to his name.
Just sayin’—it ain’t just about Rihanna.

Fat Joe reenergized the tired debate about whether Chris Brown is on the same level as the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson.
In a recent IG Live session, Joey Crack discussed Chris Brown and Michael Jackson. The Bronx rapper made the hottest of takes, claiming that the infamous Rihanna incident keeps Brown from being mentioned in the same breath as Jackson.
The Terror Squad general argued to those watching that it’s been 20 years since Brown physically assaulted his then-girlfriend Rihanna, claiming that it was time to let it go and that Breezy is the best singer/dancer/performer since Michael Jackson.
Fat Joe took things even further when he used disgraced R&B singer R. Kelly to prove his point, trying to make the tired and ridiculous separate the artist from their egregious actions argument.
Now, to his credit, Chris Brown has shut down the MJ comparisons while still paying homage to the “Thriller” singer. In a 2022 interview with Big Boy, he acknowledged that he draws inspiration from MJ heavily but has also added his own flair to his talent to pave his own path in the music industry.
Social Media Calls C A P on Fat Joe’s Chris Brown Hot Take
Fat Joe’s comments, of course, sparked debate, with many Breezy fans agreeing with him, while other fans of music claim Usher is above Brown, and MJ fans feel no one compares.
“We would still only call Michael Jackson Michael Jackson, actually. And, if we have to decide, Usher would be the only logical heir apparent. Hope this helps,” one person on X, formerly Twitter, wrote.
Apple Music’s Rap Life host Low Key added, “Does he have a ‘Confessions’….?,” referring to Usher’s iconic 2004 album.
He has a point.
The gallery below shows more reactions to Fat Joe caping for Chris Brown as a GOAT.

The issues between Quavo and Chris Brown morphed into the pair firing shots at one another on wax, and it appears that the beef is still ongoing if fan theories are correct. At a recent concert, Quavo was greeted by a smaller crowd than he usually draws and some believe Chris Brown may have something to do with the low turnout.
As captured by fans on TikTok, Quavo was recently performing in Bridgeport, Conn. and it didn’t look like the house was packed. One TikTok user speculated that Breezy had something to do with the low turnout by allegedly buying up ticket spots.
Another user’s TikTok video shows another angle from inside the Hartford Healthcare Amphitheater for Sacred Heart University’s spring concert last Friday (April 26).
From what can be seen in the second video, Huncho still gave the fans in attendance his attention and effort but it hasn’t come out why the venue, which holds over 5,700, was on the emptier side for the weekend concert.
As we’ve been documenting, the feud between Quavo and Chris Brown has been a long-brewing affair that culminated in a handful of diss tracks with the Migos rapper taking the last audio swipe with the track “Over Hoes & B*tches” featuring vocals from the late Takeoff. Brown dismissed the jab as “Google Raps” and looks to have moved on from the dustup.

Quavo and Chris Brown are embroiled in a beef that appears to be over their past dalliances with former lovers in common. Quavo, who took a shot from Chris Brown over the “Weakest Link” track fired back with a diss of his own, “Over Hoes & B*tches.”
The Migos rapper used an infamous image of Brown putting his hands around a woman’s neck, an incident that the singer claimed was friendly and not at all violent. Quavo superimposed his face over Brown’s face while placing the singer’s face on the woman who was choked.
“Over Hoes & B*tches” adds to the growing war of words that was ignited notably on Brown’s track “Freak” from his 11:11 (Deluxe) album. Huncho fired back with “Tender” which then sparked Breezy to respond with “Weakest Link” and now we arrive at “Over Hoes & B*tches.”
A common theme across the songs is references to Brown’s ex, Karrueche Tran, who was linked with his current rival although Tran denied that the pair dated after breaking up with Brown in 2015. The two also mentioned each other’s domestic violence allegations, including an incident involving Saweetie, whom Brown claims he slept with while she dated the “Workin Me” rapper.
From “Over Hoes & B*tches”:
Lil’ boy wanna die ’bout some coochie? (Baow) You still f*cked up ’bout Karrueche? (Damn)
You tried to beat up Teyana (No cap), but Usher wouldn’t let you do it (Usher)
The cocaine got him, your honor (White), bipolar disorder, no wonder
You was the greatest, n*gga, you fumbled, goin’ out sad, I’m watchin’ you crumble (Uh)
Why they got Quavo out here goin’ back and forth with a singer that turned to a junkie?
Now we got light skin versus brown skin, n*gga finna divide the country (Go)
N*gga, you ain’t been in the trenches (Trenches)
We stompin’ the yard, you know how that ended (Stomp)
Brown responded to the diss, referring to the lyrics as “Google Raps” before dismissing the attempt. No word yet if Brown will deliver a proper response.

Chris Brown and Quavo have a history of not being the best of friends and it appears that the pair are still on the path to war after this weekend. Chris Brown dropped a new track titled “Weakest Link” aimed at Quavo, with the late Takeoff having his name added to this feud.
From what we gathered, “Weakest Link” is a response to the track “Tender” and adds to the growing rift between the pair that has been ongoing for years according to reports.
On “Tender” Quavo rapped:
Wipin’ your nose with the tissue, not wipin’ no snot (Snot, whoo)Tell me, lil’ bro, what’s your issue? It’s over a thot (Thot)You said that it’s bigger than that (It’s big), but no, it is not (No, it is not)It’s ’cause I be diggin’ in that (Ya dig?), it got ’em hot (They got ’em hot)I’m givin’ respect (Sh*t), but I know you not (I know you not)Your b*tch on my neck (Your b*tch), your b*tch at the spot (Spot)
The streets are saying that the Migos artist is speaking about Brown’s ex, Karrueche Tran.
Brown, digging deep into his petty bag, fired back by suggesting he got familiar with Huncho’s ex, Saweetie:
Okay, let’s get down to the facts, p*ssy, I’m dripped in red (Okay)Don’t let this R&B sh*t fool you, n*ggas get ripped to shreds (Get back)Quavo talkin’ like he a thug, n*gga, you a bitch with dreads (You a b*tch)Can’t wait to see the day that you back up all of that sh*t you said (You on)What’s all that boss sh*t you talkin’? You ain’t no huncho, n*gga (You ain’t no huncho)You the weakest link out of your clique, let’s keep it a hundo, n*gga (One hundred)You f*cked my ex-ho, that’s cool, I don’t give no f*ck, lil’ n*gga (Still a b*tch)‘Cause I f*cked your ex when you were still with her, b*tch, I’m up, lil’ n*gga (I’m up)
We’ve got no opinion on who is winning this particular beef but fans observing are naturally calling out Brown’s violent past with women, while also adding that Quavo has similar stories of the same acts on his jacket.

Forever-embattled R&B legend Chris Brown just can’t seem to stay out of the news for allegedly doing something aggressive and/or violent out of anger. Now, a man has filed a lawsuit accusing the “Look At Me Now” singer of beating the hell out of him at a nightclub in London back in February, according to TMZ.
Abe Diaw, a man who is claiming to have known Brown for at least seven years, said he spotted the recording artist at TAPE nightclub in England and, when Diaw saw Chris come his way, he thought he was doing so to give him a hug, but instead, Brown smashed him over the head with a bottle of Don Julio 1942 tequila. The lawsuit claims Brown repeatedly beat Diaw over the head with “crushing blows” from the bottle.
From TMZ:
The guy claims he was knocked unconscious but says that didn’t stop Chris from continuing the attack … he says CB ruthlessly stomped on him as he lay passed out on the club floor.
In the docs, Diaw claims he had to be hospitalized as a result of his alleged injuries … which he says include cuts on his head and torn ligaments in his leg.
Chris’ accuser says there’s surveillance footage of the whole thing … and he says cops in London have the alleged beatdown video. Diaw claims he can identify Chris in the footage and claims CB is a fugitive in the United Kingdom as a result of the alleged incident.
It’s unclear what led up to the alleged confrontation. Even given Brown’s history of violent outbursts, it’s difficult to imagine he would just up and repeatedly beat a person over the head with a liquor bottle for no discernable reason while the unsuspecting victim was waiting for a greeting from a years-long friend. TMZ reported that the news site reached out to Brown’s representatives, but has not heard back from them.
At any rate, Diaw is suing for unspecified damages, and he claims he’s suffered emotional distress and trauma after enduring what he says might be permanent injuries.
An alleged fight between Chris Brown and Usher took place in Las Vegas. Morgan Wallen’s ‘One Thing at a Time’ continues to lead the Billboard 200 albums chart as SEVENTEEN, Eslabon Armado, and Jack Harlow debut in the top 10 this week.
