Highly Suspect is back at No. 1 on Billboard‘s Mainstream Rock Airplay chart, as “Natural Born Killer” slashes its way to the top of the Oct. 29-dated survey.

The group adds its third No. 1 on the ranking. It last ruled with “16,” for four weeks in 2019, after “My Name Is Human” reigned for eight weeks in 2016.

In between “16” and “Killer,” the band appeared on the chart with two tracks, “These Days” (No. 10 peak) and “Canals” (No. 40), both in 2020.

The band boasts seven Mainstream Rock Airplay top 10s, dating to its arrival with “Lydia” (No. 4, 2015). In addition to its aforementioned No. 1s, the band also reached No. 5 with “Bloodfeather” in 2016 and No. 2 with “Little One” in 2017. The band formed in 2009 on in Massachusetts.

Concurrently, “Killer” places at No. 19 on Alternative Airplay, after reaching No. 16 earlier in October. It’s the band’s second-highest-ranking song on the tally, following “16,” which peaked at No. 15. Between “16” and “Killer,” “Days” reached the list at No. 39.

On the all-rock-format, audience-based Rock & Alternative Airplay chart, the song lifts 8-7, a new best, with 2.9 million audience impressions, up 7%, in the week ending Oct. 23, according to Luminate.

“Killer” is the lead single from The Midnight Demon Club, Highly Suspect’s fourth studio album and the follow-up to 2019’s MCID. The former has earned 13,000 equivalent album units since release in September. The new set is the group’s first on FRKST/Roadrunner/3EE.

On Oct. 28, 2017, Kane Brown‘s “What Ifs,” featuring Lauren Alaina, topped Billboard‘s Country Airplay chart. Brown co-wrote the song with Matt McGinn and Jordan Schmidt, and Dann Huff produced it.
The single marked Brown’s first of eight Country Airplay leaders and Alaina’s second of three. It was released from Brown’s introductory LP that arrived at the Top Country Albums summit, becoming his first of two No. 1 sets.

The same week it crowned Country Airplay, “What Ifs” began a five-week command on Billboard‘s streaming-, airplay- and sales-based Hot Country Songs chart. It dethroned Sam Hunt’s “Body Like a Back Road,” which had logged a then-record 34-week domination.

“All I can say is, 34 weeks, Sam Hunt? Damn. I’m happy to get in there,” Brown told Billboard upon learning of his achievement.

Brown, now 29, and Alaina, 28, are both from Georgia and were childhood friends, having met at Lakeview Middle School in Fort Oglethorpe, Ga., in a choir class.

Brown’s latest single, “Thank God,” with Katelyn Brown, his wife, rises 19-18 on the latest, Oct. 29-dated Country Airplay chart. The duet is from his new album, Different Man, which launched at its No. 2 best on Top Country Albums in September, becoming his sixth top 10 set.

Alaina, who finished as the runner-up to Scotty McCreery on American Idol in 2011, most recently led Country Airplay as featured, with Devin Dawson, on Hardy’s “One Beer,” which the threesome hoisted to No. 1 in December 2020.

This May, Alaina hopped on stage during a Brown concert in Chattanooga, Tenn., near where they grew up. The pair performed “What Ifs.”

Taylor Swift is the queen of Australia’s music charts, as Midnights (via Universal) darts to No. 1 with the biggest volume week of any album in five years.
Midnights bows atop the latest ARIA Chart, with more combined sales than any title since Swift released Reputation, also No. 1 back in 2017. It’s her 10th No. 1 ARIA Album.

With Midnights setting the albums chart alight, records tumble. Swift enjoys a record-setting haul on the national singles survey, capturing nine of the top 10 positions, led by “Anti-Hero” at No. 1, with “Lavender Haze” and “Snow On The Beach,” featuring Lana Del Rey, respectively completing the top 3.

According to Universal Music Australia, Midnights is the most-streamed album in a week in ARIA history, and the biggest-ever vinyl sales debut, shifting over 10,000 vinyl units in week one.

The song that ruins TayTay’s chance at a top 10 sweep is Sam Smith and Kim Petras’ former leader “Unholy” (Capitol/Universal), which dips 1-7 on the ARIA Singles Chart. With the exception of Smith and Petras’ collaboration, Swift locks down every ARIA chart position from No. 1 through to No. 14. Remarkably, she’s in possession of the only debuts on the latest singles frame — 13 of them.

“Anti-Hero” is Swift’s ninth No. 1 ARIA Single, and fourth in the past two years, most recently with “All Too Well (Taylor’s Version)” in 2021.

The U.S. pop star is shortlisted for the fan-voted best international artist category at the 2022 ARIA Awards, having won the pointed trophy in 2019 and 2021.

Parking at No. 2 on the ARIA Albums Chart, published Oct. 28, is Arctic Monkeys’ The Car (Domino Recordings/EMI). Though the Sheffield, England alternative rock band misses out on the crown, Alex Turner and Co. keep alive a streak that has seen all seven studio albums placed in the top 5, with three reaching the zenith.

Meanwhile, Australia’s pop royalty Kylie Minogue returns to the chart with Impossible Princess, which enjoys the reissue treatment for its 25th anniversary through Warner Music. Impossible Princess drops in at No. 3.

The top five is completed by two new classical crossover albums, Andrea, Matteo and Virginia Bocelli’s A Family Christmas (Decca/Universal), and Anthony Callea’s Forty Love (BMG), respectively.

Also new to the top 10 this week is Architects‘ tenth album Classic Symptoms of a Broken Spirit (Epitaph Record/RKT), at No. 8. The British metalcore band will support the album in these parts with a national tour in February 2023.

Duelo returns to the No. 1 spot for the first time in a decade and a half on Billboard’s Regional Mexican Airplay chart (dated Oct. 29) with its latest single “24 Siete.” The song marks the norteño group’s first visit to the summit since 2007. It also represents a new achievement for the group’s label La Bonita Music, winning its first leader among a collection of 16 entries.

“Everything we have been reaping, working hard these years, tours in Mexico and the United States and the truth, this new No. 1 caught us by surprise,” Oscar Iván Treviño, one of founding members of the group, told Billboard.

“24 Siete” was released Aug. 11 via La Bonita Music. It ascends to the top in its ninth week following a 19% gain in audience impressions, to 5.8 million, earned in the U.S. in the week ending Oct. 23, according to Luminate.

With its ascent, “24 Siete” becomes Duelo’s fourth champ dating back to the one-week ruler “Te Compro” in 2006. In between, the Monterrey-bred group nabbed two other one-week champs in 2007: “Un Idiota Como Yo” and “Olvidame Tú.”

As for “24 Siete,” Treviño adds, “We composed the song with the best intentions in the world. Doing the song and recording our new album No Digas No, well, it’s been exciting. It is important to always maintain that curiosity and that passion for music, doing what you love.” “24 Siete” is the second single from No Digas No, which hasn’t entered the charts yet.

Further, with the new champ, La Bonita Music claims its first No. 1 in the 28-year-old history of the Regional Mexican Airplay chart. It previously reached a No. 3 high also through a Duelo song, “Puño de Diamantes,” in July 2013.

Elsewhere, “24” steps into the upper region on the all-genre Latin Airplay chart with a 15-9 jump. The lift gifts the group its first top 10 in almost a decade, since “Puño de Diamantes” peaked at No. 8 in its 13th week in 2013.

Katy Nichole and Big Daddy Weave‘s “God Is in This Story” ascends to No. 1 on Billboard’s Christian Airplay chart dated Oct. 29.
In the tracking week ending Oct. 23, the collaboration gained by 1% to 7.2 million audience impressions, according to Luminate.

The song, which the 22-year-old Nichole, from Mesa, Ariz., co-wrote with Ethan Hulse and Jeff Pardo, is from her forthcoming first full-length.

It marks the second straight career-opening leader on the list for Nichole and the seventh No. 1 for Big Daddy Weave.

Nichole follows her rookie hit “In Jesus Name (God of Possible),” which dominated Christian Airplay for nine weeks beginning in April. She becomes the second solo woman to lead with her first two entries, after Anne Wilson led for six weeks beginning in August 2021 with her debut hit “My Jesus” and followed with “I Still Believe in Christmas,” which led for a week in the 2021-22 holiday season.

Big Daddy Weave tops Christian Airplay for the first time since “I Know” reigned for three weeks in April-May 2020. Its latest leader is also its milestone 20th top 10, and first since “All Things New” peaked at No. 9 in September 2021.

With seven No. 1s, Big Daddy Weave ties Third Day for eighth place among all acts for the most since Christian Airplay began in 2003. MercyMe leads with 17.

“God Is in This Story” concurrently leads the streaming-, airplay- and sales-based Hot Christian Songs chart for a third week, after it first topped the Oct. 15-dated ranking.

Franklin Ties Record as ‘Kingdom’ Reigns

Maverick City Music and Kirk Franklin’s “Kingdom,” featuring Naomi Raine and Chandler Moore, reaches the Gospel Airplay summit. The song increased by 3% in plays in the tracking week.

Maverick City Music, Raine and Moore each earn their second leader on the list, after the triumvirate led with “Jireh” for two weeks beginning in March.

Meanwhile, Franklin achieves his record-tying ninth Gospel Airplay No. 1, and first since “Strong God” ruled for two weeks in December 2020. He matches Tamela Mann for the most leaders since the chart launched in March 2005. (James Fortune & FIYA follow with eight No. 1s.)

Franklin began his run of leaders with “Looking for You,” which dominated for 18 weeks starting in November 2005.

David Guetta and Bebe Rexha ascend to No. 1 on Billboard‘s Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart (dated Oct. 29) with “I’m Good (Blue).” Guetta gets his record-tying 12th No. 1, matching Calvin Harris and Rihanna for the most dating to the chart’s August 2003 inception. Rexha achieves her first leader on the list.

“Good” is scoring core-dance airplay on KMVQ-HD2 San Francisco, SiriusXM’s BPM and KNHC (C89.5) Seattle, among other stations. (The Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart measures radio airplay on a select group of full-time dance stations, along with plays during mix shows on around 70 top 40-formatted reporters.)

Here’s a look at Guetta’s dozen dominations on Dance/Mix Show Airplay:

Title, Artists, Year (weeks at No. 1, if more than one)

“The World Is Mine,” feat. JD Davis, 2007 (two)“Love Is Gone,” with Chris Willis, 2007“When Love Takes Over,” feat. Kelly Rowland, 2009 (nine)“Sexy Chick,” featuring Akon, 2009 (six)“Gettin’ Over You,” with Chris Willis, feat. Fergie & LMFAO, 2010 (two)“Without You,” feat. Usher, 2011 (two)“Turn Me On,” feat. Nicki Minaj, 2012 (three)“Stay (Don’t Go Away),” feat. RAYE, 2019“Let’s Love,” with SIA, 2020“Bed,” with Joel Corry x RAYE, 2021 (three)“Heartbreak Anthem,” with Galantis & Little Mix, 2021“I’m Good (Blue),” with Bebe Rexha, 2022

“Good,” which interpolates Eiffel 65’s classic “Blue (Da Ba Dee),” a No. 6 Billboard Hot 100 hit in 2000, also leads the multi-metric Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart (for a fifth week), Dance/Electronic Streaming Songs (sixth) and Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales (also sixth). “Good” garnered 26.8 million all-format radio airplay audience impressions, 11.5 million official streams, and 7,000 downloads sold in the U.S. Oct. 14-20, according to Luminate.

The song concurrently pushes to a new No. 13 Hot 100 high. On Pop Airplay, its hits the top 10 (11-10), becoming Guetta’s seventh top 10 (and first since 2015) and Rexha’s fifth (and first since 2018).

Speaking of the Hot 100, the chart’s new No. 1, Sam Smith and Kim Petras’ “Unholy,” surges to the Dance/Mix Show Airplay top 10 (22-10). Smith’s seventh top 10 and Petras’ second, the collab is drawing significant core-dance airplay on SiriusXM’s Diplo’s Revolution, among other outlets, thanks to Disclosure’s remix.

“Unholy” is only the third song to reach the Dance/Mix Show Airplay top 10 in just two frames this year, joining Diplo and Miguel’s “Don’t Forget My Love” (12-3, in March) and Drake’s “Massive” (17-9, July).

On the multi-metric Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart, Oliver Tree and Robin Schulz’s “Miss You” also rises in its second week (10-7), earning top Streaming Gainer honors. The track, whose profile has been boosted by TikTok, tallied 5.1 million streams, up 174%. Concurrently, “Miss” lifts 5-4 on Dance/Electronic Streaming Songs, marking Oliver Tree’s first top 10 and Schulz’s third.

Further on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs, Farruko flies in with “Viaje,” the chart’s leading debut (No. 23). Starting with 942,000 streams, his latest Latin-EDM crossover follows three consecutive top 10s (which upped his career total to four): “Nazareno” (No. 7, this June); “El Incomprendido,” with Victor Cardenas and DJ Adoni (No. 4, October 2021); and “Pepas” (No. 1 for nine weeks, beginning in August 2021).

Plus, Tove Lo and SG Lewis team on two Hot Dance/Electronic Songs debuts: “Call On Me” ( No. 27) and “Pineapple Slice” (No. 48). Tove Lo’s 10thand 11th appearances and Lewis’ 11th and 12th, the former starts with 836,000 streams and the latter with 484,000. Both cuts are from Tove Lo’s Dirt Femme, which debuts on Independent Albums (No. 24) and the Billboard 200 (No. 153), among other surveys.

Beach Weather‘s “Sex, Drugs, Etc.” was originally released in 2016, and now it’s No. 1 on Billboard‘s Alternative Airplay chart dated Oct. 29, 2022.

The track scored TikTok virality beginning earlier this year, leading to its servicing to radio and eventual chart run.

“Sex” is Beach Weather’s first Alternative Airplay No. 1, in the Massachusetts band’s first trip to the chart. The act is the second to rule with an initial entry in 2022, following BoyWithUke, whose “Toxic” led for a week in July. Like “Sex,” “Toxic” also went viral on TikTok.

“We never thought ‘Sex, Drugs, Etc.’ would be the song people gravitate to,” Beach Weather frontman Nick Santino, from Braintree, Mass., said in a release. “I can relate to the meaning of it personally. It’s about having anxiety. I don’t really go out. I’m not a big party guy. I’m the opposite; I’m a homebody. It’s amazing to see a lot of listeners identify with it.”

Concurrently, “Sex” bullets at its No. 6 high on the all-rock-format, audience-based Rock & Alternative Airplay chart with 3 million audience impressions, up 6%, according to Luminate.

While it initially appeared on Alternative Airplay in August, “Sex” debuted on the multi-metric Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart in July at No. 43; it’s since risen to No. 17, where it spends a second frame on the latest list. In addition to its radio airplay, the song drew 3.8 million official U.S. streams in the Oct. 14-20 tracking week, up 2%. The song also ranks at its highs of No. 12 on Hot Alternative Songs and at No. 15 on Hot Rock Songs.

“Sex” was first released on Beach Weather’s 2016 six-song collection Chit Chat. The band had not since released new material until this August, when it premiered the song “Unlovable.”

Backstreet Boys debut at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Holiday Albums chart with the group’s first seasonal effort, A Very Backstreet Christmas. The set launches atop the list dated Oct. 29 with 20,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending Oct. 20, according to Luminate.
Also bowing the Oct. 29-dated chart: Reba’s The Ultimate Christmas Collection (No. 14), the Country Christmas Greatest Hits compilation (No. 24), Selah’s At This Table: A Christmas Album (No. 26), the Now That’s What I Call a Wonderful Christmas compilation (No. 31) and Jim Brickman’s A Very Merry Christmas (No. 32).

The seasonal Top Holiday Albums chart returned to Billboard’s weekly chart menu for the current season with the Oct. 22-dated chart. That week, the top debut was Lindsey Stirling’s Snow Waltz at No. 2, while the soundtrack to Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas spent a 12th nonconsecutive week atop the list. Top Holiday Albums will continue to be published on a weekly basis through January of 2023, when it will dash away until the next holiday season. (The chart generally returns every October.)

The Top Holiday Albums chart ranks the 50 most popular seasonal albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units. Units comprise album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Each units equals one album sales, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album. DJ Khaled captures his seventh No. 1 on Billboard’s Rhythmic Airplay chart with “Staying Alive,” featuring Drake and Lil Baby, which rises to the top on the list dated Oct. 29. The single climbs from No. 3 following a 7% gain in weekly plays to become the most-played song at U.S. monitored rhythmic radio in the week ending Oct. 23, according to Luminate.

The new champ secures DJ Khaled a seventh No. 1 and comes more than two years since his last. Notably, the incumbent also marks the third-such leading collaboration between DJ Khaled and Drake. Here’s a look at the hitmaking producer’s chart-topping collection on Rhythmic Airplay:

“For Free,” featuring Drake, three weeks at No. 1, beginning Aug. 27, 2016“Shining,” featuring Beyoncé & Jay-Z, one, May 13, 2017“I’m the One,” featuring Justin Bieber, Quavo, Chance the Rapper & Lil Wayne, four, July 1, 2017“Wild Thoughts,” featuring Rihanna & Bryson Tiller, eight, Aug. 5, 2017“No Brainer,” featuring Justin Bieber, Quavo & Chance the Rapper, one, Oct. 6, 2018“Popstar,” featuring Drake, one, Sept. 19, 2020“Staying Alive,” featuring Drake & Lil Baby, one (to date), Oct. 29, 2022

Featured act Lil Baby earns his fourth Rhythmic Airplay No. 1 with “Alive.” His first visit to the summit occurred in 2019 with “Close Friends,” which ruled for one week that July. The last week of that year, he achieved his second champ, “Leave Em Alone,” alongside Layton Greene, City Girls and PnB Rock, which logged three weeks on top. In December 2020, he began a five-week reign as he and DaBaby featured on Pop Smoke’s “For the Night.”

Drake, meanwhile, continues to lap the competition as he adds a record-extending 36th Rhythmic Airplay No. 1 to his ledger. He last led just three weeks ago, with “Jimmy Cooks,” featuring 21 Savage, which slips 2-4 on the current chart. (More Drake and 21 Savage collaborations are just days away, with the duo announcing a new album, Her Loss, arriving Friday, Nov. 4 after a one-week delay).

Thanks to “Alive,” Drake ensures his fifth straight year with at least three No. 1s on the Rhythmic Airplay chart. Along with “Cooks” and “Alive,” he reached the top via he and Tems’ supporting turn on Future’s “Wait for U,” a one-week No. 1 in July.

Shakira returns to Billboard’s Tropical Airplay chart as her latest single “Monotonía,” with Ozuna, breaks into the top 10 on the Oct. 29-dated list. It’s her first appearance on this chart since 2017.
“Monotonía” was released via Sony Music Latin on Oct. 19 and bows at No. 8 on Tropical Airplay with five days of airplay. It starts with 2.8 million in audience impressions earned during the tracking week Oct. 17-23, according to Luminate.

“Monotonía” marks Shakira’s first chart appearance and top 10 effort since “Déjà Vu” with Prince Royce closed its 42-week frame in the top 10 on December 2017. Out of those, the track took over atop the tally for 11 consecutive weeks (April-July 2017). Ozuna, meanwhile, reached a No. 3 high earlier in the year with “Señor Juez,” with Anthony Santos (Feb. 19-dated ranking).

Back to Shakira, she continues to hold the third-most top 10s among female acts on Tropical Airplay, trailing Olga Tañon’s 28 top 10s and India’s 25. Here’s a recap of the women with the most top 10s since the list launched in 1994:

28, Olga Tañón25, India20, Shakira16, Giselle16, Gloria Estefan11, Paulina Rubio11, Thalia

Elsewhere, “Monotonía” arrives at No. 25 on the Hot Latin Songs chart. For its first week on the multimetric ranking, the song registered 3.1 million official U.S. streams in the week ending Oct. 20. Sales, too, push the song to a top 30 start. Despite its only one day of activity, the song sold 2,000 downloads, yielding a No. 1 debut on Latin Digital Song Sales.

Further, “Monotonía” launches at No. 36 on the all-genre Latin Airplay chart. With a total of 63 entries on his career chart history, Ozuna extends his second-most appearances rank just behind Daddy Yankee’s 80 entries.
