Mustard continued his 2024 victory lap by trolling Drake during his 2024 Camp Flog Gnaw set on Sunday (Nov. 17) in Los Angeles.
The West Coast superproducer played the first few seconds of âCrew Loveâ off Drakeâs Take Care before making a smooth transition into Future, Metro Boomin and Kendrick Lamarâs âLike Thatâ to zing the 6 God. âSike,â he said while firing up the Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hit, which drew a roar from the Dodger Stadium crowd.
âThis is hate on another level,â one fan wrote to X. Another chimed in, âI canât lie that switch up was insane!â
Of course, Mustard kicked off his set with Kendrick Lamarâs Drake diss. Before the instrumental from the chart-topping hit began, the DJâs backdrop was filled with dialogue from the horror movie The Sixth Sense. That ended up switching to a mural honoring L.A. legends such as the late Nipsey Hussle as well as Kobe Bryant.

âWhen I was growing up, I watched 2Pac, âCalifornia Love,â Dr. Dre, Snoop, the Death Row days,â Mustard told Billboard over the summer of his involvement in the Drake-Kendrick feud. âItâs like being a part of that again, but in this day and age.â
It should be noted that the Camp Flog Gnaw festival crowd booed Drake off the stage when he was a surprise guest performer in 2019, as the audience hoped to see Frank Ocean instead.
While Mustard linked up with Drake to produce YGâs âWho Do You Loveâ back in 2014, donât expect to see the duo work together again. âI donât think I want to make a song with that dude,â Mustard told The Los Angeles Times of Drake in August. âHeâs a strange guy.â
Just days later, a petty Drake fired back by including footage of a 2014 phone call with YG and Mustard showing their appreciation for the 6 God working with them as part of Drizzyâs 100 Gigs drop.
Itâs been a banner year for Mustard, who is nominated for producer of the year, non-classical at the 2025 Grammy Awards. In addition to producing âNot Like Us,â he also released his Faith of a Mustard Seed album in July, which reached No. 50 on the Billboard 200.

Tyler, The Creator took a well-deserved victory lap and brought festival-goers along for a joyful ride down memory lane on Saturday (Nov. 16) when he headlined the first night of Camp Flog Gnaw at his Los Angeles hometownâs Dodger Stadium.
The ambient sounds of a shipping dock â deep-toned ship horns, squawking seagulls and crashing waves â play before Tyler marches onto the stage and incites âChromakooooooopiaâ chants from the crowd. A single green light highlights the masked and military uniform-donning headliner standing atop a âChromakopiaâ shipping container. Tyler introduced the albumâs aesthetic exactly one month ago on Oct. 16, when he released the âSt. Chromaâ video. And already, heâs created another definitive character in the Tyler Cinematic Universe, where commitment to world-building is paramount for every one of his projects.
He forges ahead to the next three songs off CHROMAKOPIAâs track list. âThe biggest out the city after Kenny, thatâs a fact now,â he reaffirms on the subsequent track âRah Tah Tah.â Kendrick Lamar and Baby Keem, who were billed as The Hillbillies, headlined the first night of Camp Flog Gnaw just last year. Tyler isnât typically one to do the honors given the fact that itâs his festival (and he already rewards himself with the most performance time out of any other artist on the lineup). Giving other luminaries the primetime slot is a courtesy, but this yearâs different because Tyler gradually ascends into a higher echelon of stardom with each album.

Heâs reached cult icon status without having a definitive âhit,â and now heâs earned his first three Billboard Hot 100 top 10s with an album that was released on an off-cycle Monday but has become Tylerâs biggest album to date. His star continues to burn even brighter, but the overexposure proves it can sometimes be destructive. âNoidâ feels particularly poignant given his recent heated encounter with paparazzi as he was leaving the GQ Men of the Year party on Thursday night.
âNo cameras out, please, I wanna eat in peace/ Donât wanna take pictures with you nâas or biâes,â he spits on the second verse with an extra splatter of vitriol.
But Tyler doesnât marinate in the sour feeling. Over the instrumental outro of âDarling I,â he pauses to prematurely celebrate his albumâs three-week No. 1 streak on the Billboard 200. âThank all you motherfâkers for supporting me, man, for real. To do that, at my 10th carnival in my fâing city, whatâre we talking about?! I donât even have no heartfelt message. Iâm really filled with so much love and joy,â Tyler beams. âWe did the new shâ, yâall clearly know it and like it. So if you donât mind, Iâmma go through my old shâ real fast.â
Tyler takes it back to last year with âWUSYANAME,â âLUMBERJACKâ and âDOGTOOTHâ from his Grammy-winning album Call Me If You Get Lost before rewinding all the way back to 2011 with âSheâ and âYonkersâ from his Goblin LP and splicing in cuts from 2013âs Wolf, 2017âs Flower Boy and 2019âs IGOR. He asks the audience to take over Playboi Cartiâs verse on âEARFQUAKEâ because âthis nâa in Vegasâ headlining ComplexCon, but heâs slated to close out the second and final night of Camp Flog Gnaw on Sunday (Nov. 17).
âI wanted to build a place where nâas could just come and just be, and itâs beautiful to see that yâall have been rocking with me for real. All this sât really be starting from my notebook. Itâs fâing crazy, bruh! Nâas is really three weeks No. 1, and Iâm like, âWhat the fâ going on? This is crazy!’â he says. âThis is a test run âcause all the songs are so new. The first four went great, could I continue to do some new sâ?â
He shushes the festival-goersâ affirmative response so they can pick up the introductory whistle of his Hot 100 top 10 hit âSticky,â where B-roll of step teams and marching bands complement the songâs cheerful energy. But Sexyy Redâs surprise appearance cranks it up a thousandfold. Tyler gasses her up while she twerks for the crowd, and he even throws it back and earns a satisfactory smack from her.
They match each otherâs freak as well as the same IDGAF energy of their viral booty-popping, middle-finger-flinging photo. âI love you, girl. Sheâs so sweet,â Tyler sings her praises as she heads off the stage and repeats the âItâs gettinâ sticky!â hook. But the raunchy rapper canât deliver more fitting final words than âHe was sucking up on my coochie, yâall.â
Tyler invites more CHROMAKOPIA guests like ScHoolboy Q for âThought I Was Deadâ and the âmotherfâking swamp princessâ Doechii and âmy motherfâing brotherâ Daniel Caesar for âBalloon.â âThis nâa helped me with this album, I get emotional when I see this nâa âcause he came through for me for CHROMAKOPIA,â Tyler says of Caesar, who performed on the main stage just right before him and is featured on âSt. Chromaâ and âTake Your Mask Off.â It took a village to make his latest masterpiece, but he built an even bigger one right before his eyes.

Camp Flog Gnaw will return to LAâs Dodger Stadium this year from Nov. 16-17 for its 10-year anniversary, the festival announced on Monday (June 24). Even though Tyler, the Creatorâs annual music festival and carnival was founded in 2012, it wasnât held from 2020-2022 due to the pandemic and finally resumed in 2023. âWe started […]
After four years, Tyler, the Creatorâs Camp Flog Gnaw made its long-awaited return to Los Angelesâ Dodger Stadium over the weekend (Nov. 11 & 12). The part-festival, part-carnival experience last occurred in 2019, making headlines when surprise performer Drake was booed offstage after heavy speculation that the reclusive Frank Ocean would appear. Tyler addressed the incident Saturday night (Nov. 11) during […]
In May, Baby Keem and Kendrick Lamar reintroduced themselves as âThe Hillbillies,â a quirky pair of big flexers (âOne-hundred and fifty grams of protein,â Dot raps in the duoâs eponymous single) and even bigger spenders who show off their lavish lifestyles and Lamarâs embossed python square toe 3-inch heel cowboy boots in âThe Hillbilliesâ music video. But the opening shot at L.A.âs Dodger Stadium and goofy cameo from Tyler, the Creator â who confirmed Camp Flog Gnaw would officially return this year for the first time since the pandemic at the end of the clip â foreshadowed Saturday night (Nov. 11), where Lamar and Keem took over Flog Gnaw night oneâs headliner slot hillbilly style, of course.
[embedded content]
But Keem started off the evening with a surprise: He debuted the trailer for The Melodic Blue short film, starring him, Amandla Stenberg, Shakira JaâNai Paye and more, that will premiere Dec. 5 on Amazon Prime Video. But the lead actor let âSavior â Interludeâ play out like a movieâs beginning credits while sitting on the hood of an old-school black car, Lamar lounging in the front seat before shooting the sâ with his baby cousin in the black-and-white video that was projected on the stageâs middle screen.
After Lamar officially introduced himself as âthe OG Hillbillyâ in a Beverly Hillbillies-inspired accent, the bombastic beginning horns of âFamily Tiesâ activated the audience, with fans shaking off any exhaustion theyâd sustained throughout the day. Despite the contradictory opulence of his hillbilly aesthetic, Lamar opted for a vintage brown sports jacket, white jersey, ripped jeans and Timberland boots with small square-frame glasses. Heâs already claimed the rap throne a long time ago â and heâs certainly looked the part before, from sitting on an actual throne in his 2015 âKing Kuntaâ music video to wearing a crown of [Tiffany & Co. diamond-encrusted] thorns at 2022 Glastonbury Festival. But his current attire represented humble beginnings that can get flipped on their head.
But no amount of money in the world could buy the happiness experienced during the family reunion, which even projected the âFamily Tiesâ cover art â an old photo of Lamar, Keem and their unidentifiable relatives â onto the Camp Stage. Yet during Saturday nightâs performance, the passionate festival-goers found themselves in the picture instead. Lamar spoke to his younger fans, some of whom he estimated were 9 or 10-years-old when they first discovered him, and guided them through his biggest hits from his 2012 album good kid, m.A.A.d city, his 2017 album DAMN. and all the essentials in between. If his music raised these kids, then Lamarâs family was far more extensive than any photo could ever show.
But his relationship with Keem is different because itâs inside their DNA. With everyone flinging their arms in the air with reckless abandon, Lamarâs rousing performance of âAlrightâ was more than just a tough act to follow â the set couldâve very finished right then and there. But in between songs, he pleaded with his cousin (whom he endearingly referred to as ânephewâ earlier) to save him from the âsââ music thatâs being put out lately. Keem stepped up to the plate and offered a smorgasbord of his own hits, including his 2019 sleeper hit âOrange Soda,â his TikTok-fueled cut âLost Soulsâ from his 2021 debut album, The Melodic Blue, and his stirring feature on Kanye Westâs âPraise Godâ from Donda.
And what better way to finish off their performance than with the live debut of âThe Hillbilliesâ â which earned a 2024 Grammy nomination for best rap performance just the day before the festival â and having Tyler run back his music video cameo. Shuffling across the stage, the festivalâs chief curator felt like The Hillbilliesâ long-lost cousin, his eccentric mannerisms being on par with those of Lamar and Keemâs as the trio entertained the audience with their shenanigans. Watching two rap titans and one incredibly promising rising star run around the stage felt like watching three kids run around the neighborhood playground. Flog Gnaw is Tylerâs personal playground after all, where imagination is limitless. Fans mightâve usually referred to Keem as âTwo-Phone Baby Keemâ and Lamar as âDot,â âOklamaâ or any one of his other notorious nicknames, but for that night, they were The Hillbillies.
