Billboard Photo Gallery
With 2024 in the books, Billboard is celebrating another year of music coverage — much of which has been accompanied by original photography capturing some of the moment’s biggest artists, producers and industry game-changers. Among those pictures are Billboard‘s incredible lineup of cover stars this year, from Olivia Rodrigo to Megan Thee Stallion, Sexyy Red, Usher, New Jeans, Tyla, Lainey Wilson, Camila Cabello, RIIZE, St. Vincent, Ty Dolla $ign, Charli XCX, Latto, Christian Nodal, A$AP Rocky, Playboi Carti, J Balvin, Shaboozey, LISA, PartyNextDoor, Young Miko, Tyler, the Creator and more. Those musicians and countless others were celebrated across Billboard‘s editorial packages this year – including genre, Power 100, sports, Women in Music, AAPI, Country Power Players, Latin Women in Music, Pride, R&B/Hip-Hop Power Players, Latin Power Players, the Grammys and touring – for which they gave introspective interviews and inspired content available in print and online throughout 2024 for readers to pore over.
Still more stars attended Billboard events — such as Women in Music and the Billboard Music Awards — in addition to external festivals and celebrations, where Billboard cameras were often on site to immortalize music history as it was being made. Other subjects who posed for Billboard’s lenes were the Red Clay Strays, Kylie Minogue, Linda Martell, Myles Smith, Teddy Swims, Justice, Tems, Dasha, KATSEYE, Victoria Monét, Brent Faiyaz, Julien Baker and Jack Antonoff, as well as executives and business pros such as Elliot Grainge, Rachelle Jean-Louis, Ollie Zhang, Tyler Arnold and John Branca.
From people to places and events, Billboard had lots to photograph in 2024. Keep reading to see some of the best photography of 2024 below.

Billie Eilish celebrated her 23rd birthday a day early on Tuesday night (Dec. 17) when her Hit Me Hard and Soft tour made its way to the Kia Forum in Los Angeles. Since Taylor Swift kicked off The Eras Tour on March 17, 2023, the global trek has dominated the touring industry and given fans endless moments of joy, from surprise guests (from openers like Gracie Abrams to a certain NFL star named Travis Kelce) to rerelease announcements — Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) and 1989 (Taylor’s Version) — and so much more. As Swift said of the tour’s impending end during a June stop in Liverpool, England: “[It] feels so far away from now, but then again, it feels like we just played our first show on this tour because you have made this so much fun for us.”
And yet, on Dec. 8, 2024, the outing did indeed come to a close, after 149 shows that spanned five continents. While the night included no major surprises, she did, of course, sprinkle some special moments for fans throughout the set, especially during the acoustic surprise song “era” of the show.
For her final surprise song of the tour, Swift performed a mashup of “Long Live” and “New Year’s Day” with an added bit of “The Manuscript,” singing: “I re-read the manuscript, but the story isn’t mine anymore.”
And yet, it was a lyric from “Long Live” that mustered up the most emotion, as Swift sang: “It was the end of an era, but the start of an age,” cleverly changing the words from the recording, on which she says “end of a decade.”
And while there really was no way to sum up such an experience into words, Swift tried her best, saying earlier in the show while she introduced “All Too Well”: “The lasting legacy of this tour is that you’ve created such a space of joy and togetherness and love…. You’re why this is so special, and you supporting me for as long as you have is why I get to take these lovely walks down memory lane every single night — because you’ve cared about every era of my entire life that I’ve been making music.”

Once again, it’s Queen Bey’s world, we’re just living in it.Beyoncé made history on Friday (Nov. 8) when she landed 11 2025 Grammy Award nominations, setting a one-year record for nods for a woman artist. The Cowboy Carter star had previously shared the title with Lauryn Hill, who earned 10 noms in 1999; Bey got 10 as well in 2010.
She wasn’t alone in racking up multiple nominations, with Charli XCX, Billie Eilish, Kendrick Lamar and Post Malone tied for second place with seven nods and Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan and Taylor Swift tied for third place with six nominations.
Records fell all over the place, with Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department marking her seventh album of the year nomination, helping her break a tie with Barbra Streisand for the woman with the most AOTY nods. Beyoncé also made history when Cowboy Carter got an AOTY bid, elevating the singer to the pole position on the list of Black artists with the most AOTY nominations as a lead artist; she was formerly tied with Kanye West and Kendrick Lamar on that list.
Bey has been up for the night’s top prize four other times, but to date has never won the award. In addition, Cowboy Carter has officially become the most Grammy-nominated album of all time, surpassing previous record-holders Michael Jackson’s Thriller and husband Jay-Z’s The Blueprint 3, which both earned 10 noms; her earlier albums Renaissance and Lemonade both earned nine AOTY nominations.
Lamar’s diss track “Not Like Us” snagged record and song of the year nominations, putting the Compton MC in a tie with Jay-Z for the most noms in each of those categories by a rapper. Roan and Carpenter both racked up nominations in each of the Big Four categories – album, record and song of the year and best new artist – marking the third time in Grammy history that two artists have achieved that quadfecta in the same year.
Eilish ran up her fifth record of the year nomination for “Birds of a Feather,” making the singer the first artist in Grammy history to roll up five record of the year nods before turning 23; Eilish will turn that age on Dec. 18. Grammy darling Swift got her record-extending eighth song of the year nomination for co-writing the Tortured Poets single “Fortnight,” a category she has yet to win in. Swift co-wrote “Fortnight” with Jack Antonoff and Post Malone, whose nomination marks his second in that category.
“Fortnight” is also up for record of the year, with Posty scoring additional attention in best pop duo/group performance for his Cowboy Carter duet with Bey on “Levii’s Jeans,” as well as best country duo/group performance for his smash single “I Had Some Help” with Morgan Wallen, which also got a nod for best country song.
Charli XCX might celebrate her Brat summer next year thanks to a record of the year nomination for her single “360,” as well as AOTY notices for Brat and best pop solo performance for “Apple,” among other noms.
For the full list of this year’s nominees, click here. The 67th annual Grammy Awards will take place on Feb. 2 at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. Below, find the artists who have the most 2025 Grammy nominations.
In October, NewJeans starred in the first edition of Billboard Artist, a new series of collectible art books produced by Billboard Korea. The inaugural edition tells the girl group’s story through a visual lens, showcasing the members’ style and fashion while incorporating interview highlights as well. NewJeans was honored as Group of the Year at Billboard’s 2024 Women in Music awards show.Billboard Korea launched in August with a star-studded event in Seoul — the K-Power 100 — bringing together the leaders of all of South Korea’s major music companies and featuring performances by some of the region’s most exciting talent. Billboard Artist, an initiative led by Billboard Korea creative director Woo Lee, is available for purchase on Weverse and through various other retailers.
Below, Lee explains all about the new print series.
What is Billboard Artist?
Billboard Artist is a large-format, unbound visual art book designed for people to enjoy each page like a poster. This unique book showcases the inspiration and impact of musicians through photography, art, essays, and illustrations. Unlike traditional magazines, which have a limited life, Billboard Artist is a timeless collectible, featuring content in English and Korean. It is also available in select bookstores worldwide.
Why did you launch Billboard Artist?
In a pre-smartphone era, magazine titles like Hero, Muse, and Icon portrayed stars as distant, untouchable figures. The world once craved stars who exuded perfection and mystique — think of David Bowie or Prince. But now, stars openly share details of their everyday lives — who they travel with, what books they read, the ideologies they hold — making them more relatable to the public. Musicians express their creativity across multiple realms beyond music, including fashion, visual arts, documentaries, and acting. Their multifaceted creativity serves as a major source of inspiration for all of us. We wanted to capture this in a tangible art book that showcases their diverse artistry and impact.
Describe the way you work with artists to create these books.
We choose an act and use their sound, history, personality and aesthetic as a source of inspiration, while also drawing from social issues, history, politics, humanities, science or mythology of significance to the artists. This might result in a fashion collaboration, an essay or poetry collaboration with a writer, a visual art collaboration with a digital artist, a beauty portrait with beauty and scent, or a short film produced with a videographer. All of this is developed freely and flexibly in conversations with the featured artists — their participation and creativity is key to the process.
Will Billboard Artist exclusively feature K-pop musicians because it’s produced by Billboard Korea?
No. Billboard Artist does not limit its scope by nationality, language, or territory. Billboard’s 130-year legacy of credibility and influence has always transcended borders. But there’s a reason why this project began with Billboard Korea. The Korean music industry prizes powerful storytelling, visual impact and fan engagement, and has a symbiotic relationship with the fashion and beauty sectors. That unique Korean perspective informs our vision.
Why was NewJeans chosen for the first edition?
The first question for us is always: “Who is the most talked-about musician right now?” We wanted to feature an artist who resonates in the present while evoking the past and inspiring thoughts of the future. NewJeans was the perfect choice because their music, fashion, and aesthetics blend ’80s nostalgia with a modern, forward-looking appeal. This 56-page art book captures the group’s charm, fusing elements of 1980s Italian youth culture, traditional Korean hanok houses, and the symbolism of birds in contemporary art into a poetic visual narrative.
How often will new editions of Billboard Artist be released?
Unlike a magazine, Billboard Artist doesn’t follow a fixed release schedule. When an artist is selected, there could be two editions in a month or just one in two months. For this year, a single edition will be released as a year-end treat, with more editions planned for 2025.
Where can people currently purchase the NewJeans edition?
Online pre-orders have closed, and we’re now in the second print run. Starting in mid-November, it will also be available at select bookstores. Updates will be posted on Billboard Korea’s Instagram.
A version of this story appears in the Oct. 26, 2024, issue of Billboard.
At most huge pop tours, there’s a moment when shrieking fans reach a true fever pitch — when the lights dim right before the show begins, or when the intro to the artist’s biggest hit kicks in, or during the break before the encore. All of those happened at Olivia Rodrigo’s first arena tour — […]
