With their signature party style, the trio, currently comprised of Nelson Zapata, Kid G, and Paolo Tondo, took over the stage wearing bright jackets in shades of red, blue, and yellow, while an entourage of colorful dancers accompanied them as they chanted their iconic “No pares, sigue, sigue” (“Don’t stop, keep going, keep going.”)
This year, Proyecto Uno celebrates 35 years of musical career in which they have given away hits such as “Brinca”, “Latinos” and “Otro Nivel”, fusing tropical genres with hip-hop, house and techno, creating a hybrid sound that has left an indelible mark on Latin music.

Before the artists took the stage at the 2024 Billboard Latin Music Awards, which aired on Sunday (Oct. 20), they walked the red carpet and shared with Billboard anecdotes and moments that you didn’t see on television. Show-stopping performances by Prince Royce and Gabito Ballesteros, who took the stage to sing “Cosas de la Peda” – which won tropical song of the year – and Gloria Trevi and Maria Becerra – who joined forces for “Borracha” – made the 2024 Billboard Latin Music Awards one for the books.Special awards honorees, Pepe Aguilar, J Balvin and Alejandro Sanz, each gave emotional speeches as they accepted their respective honors. Aguilar was inducted into the Billboard Hall of Fame, and said: “The way to remain relevant has been through my passion for my music and by reinventing when it was necessary. And that’s been possible thanks to the people who’ve been by my side. An artist is as good as the team that surrounds him.”
Meanwhile, Balvin who was bestowed the Spirit of Hope Award spoke on the significance of this recognition. “I’ve always liked to help my people quietly, because those are the awards that one carries forever,” he expressed. “These awards come and go, but the awards of the soul, helping a friend, serving others, those are the ones that are most worthwhile.” Sanz didn’t perform but did take the stage to share special words with fans and fellow hitmakers when accepted the Lifetime Achievement Award. “I want to dedicate to my colleagues who do music, because there was a time when making music in Spanish wasn’t easy. Feel proud for what has been achieved.”
Besides the big winners of the night, it was Lupillo Rivera that perhaps made a massive statement with his outfit choice. The regional Mexican artist wore a t-shirt with Diddy’s face and a big, red X over it. It’s a shirt he designed himself in hopes of getting a very specific message across.
“I wore this shirt because I don’t like people playing with the dreams, feelings, and desires of people who are just starting out in the entertainment world,” Rivera told Billboard Español. “There are a lot of things like that in this world and we have to put a stop to it. I don’t support anything this man does at all, and the truth is that it’s something that shouldn’t happen.”
The ceremony may be a wrap but we’re reliving some of the highlights from the show, which broadcast Sunday (Oct. 20) on Telemundo, and hosted by actors Carmen Villalobos and Danilo Carrera,

Chencho Corleone was present, and in action, at the 2024 Billboard Latin Music Awards that aired Sunday (Oct. 20) via Telemundo.
Following performances by Fuerza Regida, Pepe Aguilar, Gloria Trevi & Maria Becerra, and Yandel, to name a few, the Puerto Rican artist brought his urban-cumbia fusion to center stage with “Lo Caro y Lo Bueno”—a song about a woman who’s independent and enjoys the finer things in life.
Wearing an oversized buttoned shirt, matching trousers, and large sunglasses, Corleone was joined by a group of sensual dancers while he sang: “She likes the expensive and the good / she likes the party, the rumba, and rakata.”

“Lo Caro y Lo Bueno” forms part of Corleone’s debut studio album SOLO that he released five years after parting ways from popular early 2000s reggaetón duo Plan B. Home to 18 songs, the set stays faithful to Chencho’s characteristic vocals and futuristic perreos such as “Menta,” “Good Times” and “District.” In addition to experimenting with cumbia in “Lo Caro y Lo Bueno,” Corleone also has an electronic track called “Himalaya.”
The 2024 Billboard Latin Music Awards, hosted by actors Carmen Villalobos and Danilo Carrera, celebrates the most outstanding talent in Latin music. This year’s edition brings together an all-star lineup spanning a variety of genres and generations including J Balvin, Fuerza Regida, Kali Uchis, Xavi, Grupo Niche, Prince Royce, Proyecto Uno, and many more.

As he performed, Xavi was joined by his three guitarists who shredded right from the start, and a troupe of female dancers channeling a fun, cowgirl aesthetic with short shorts and braided pigtails, while their male counterparts periodically lifted them during the energetic performance. His set took place about a week after the release of his debut album Next.
“La Diabla” emerged as an unexpected phenomenon at the start of 2024, catapulting the then-unknown solo teen artist to fame. The captivating track, which tells the tale of a perilous romance, features a gripping requinto riff and the 20-year-old’s powerful vocals. It swiftly climbed the charts to become the second-longest reigning song on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart of 2024, dominating for 14 weeks beginning with the Jan. 6 issue.
