The 27-year-old star has been playing piano and guitar since childhood, and even performed in her church choir. In 2012, her father encouraged her to try out for YG Entertainment’s auditions for a new girl group. She came in first, and subsequently became a trainee at YG, before getting chosen to be a member of BLACKPINK four years later.

The group dropped their debut EP, Square Up, in 2016, and got their first Billboard chart hit when “Boombayah” topped the World Digital Song Sales chart, and “Whistle” followed at No. 2. Their first Hot 100 entry was “Dou-Du Dou-Du,” which peaked at No. 55. After a series of hits, their 2020 debut full-length project, The Album, topped the World Albums Chart and debuted at No. 2 on the all-genre Billboard 200, becoming the highest-charting album by a female K-pop act at the time. Their 2022 album, Born Pink, became their first leader on the Billboard 200.

Narrator:Feid is heading to Miami! Billboard’s Latin Music Week is returning to Miami Beach for its 35th year, and Feid will be joining the fun. But who is Feid? What’s his story? And how did he become the superstar that he is? This is Billboard Explains: Feid’s Journey to the Top.

Born in Medellín, Colombia, Feid’s relationship with music started in his childhood, when he learned to play the clarinet. He later abandoned the instrument and turned to his other passion: singing. He took singing classes and was a member of the children’s choir at his father’s work, La Universidad de Antioquia, before performing in front of friends in talent shows.

Fast forward to his 20s, where Feid decided to devote his career to reggaeton, and began songwriting for some of Latin’s biggest artists, like Alberto Stylee, Nicky Jam, Reykon and J Balvin. Soon, Feid became an in-demand songwriter and signed his first record deal with In-Tu Linea, a label under the Universal Music Latin Entertainment umbrella.

Feid went on to earn his first entry on a Billboard chart with his J Balvin collab “Que Raro,” which peaked at No. 26 on Latin Digital Song Sales in October 2016. He released his debut album, Así Como Suena, in 2017, featuring the track “Morena.” He followed that up with 2019’s 19, which landed him his first Latin Grammy nomination, featuring the song “FKU.” But it was his third album, Ferxxo (Vol. 1: M.O.R.), when Feid’s career went to a new level.

The Colombian singer-songwriter began his music journey in Medellín, learning the clarinet before focusing on singing. He joined a children’s choir and performed in talent shows. In his 20s, he became a sought-after songwriter for major Latin artists — he co-wrote J Balvin’s first global hit, “Ginza” (2015) — and signed with Universal Music Latin Entertainment. Feid released his debut album, Así Como Suena, in 2017, and by his third album, Ferxxo, Vol. 1: M.O.R. (2020), he had reached No. 1 on Latin Airplay.

His success continued with albums such as Feliz Cumpleaños Ferxxo Te Pirateamos el Álbum (2022), and Mor, No le Temas a la Oscuridad (2023), which peaked at No. 31 on the Billboard 200. To date, he holds eight No. 1 hits on Latin Airplay and 10 Latin Rhythm Airplay charts.

Ferxxo’s journey is highlighted as he prepares to appear at Billboard Latin Music Week in Miami on Monday, Oct. 14, on a panel called From Clubs to Stadiums featuring Feid, presented by Live Nation. Get your tickets here.

With his latest album, The Great American Bar Scene, just released, Billboard dives into Bryan’s journey on the Billboard charts. Bryan was born in Okinawa, Japan, but was raised in Oklahoma. He began writing songs in his teens, and enlisted in the U.S. Navy at age 17; he made music in his spare time while serving in the Navy, and finished serving at age 25. He started in music by uploading videos to YouTube in 2017.

Bryan’s first appearance on a Billboard chart was in 2020, when his second album, Elisabeth, landed on the Heatseekers Albums chart, while the set’s “Heading South” became his first entry on Billboard‘s Hot Rock and Alternative Songs chart, peaking at No. 27.

In May 2022, the success of Bryan’s songs “From Austin” and “Highway Boys” aided him in earning the No. 1 spot on Billboard‘s Emerging Artists chart. Another of his potent songs, “Something in the Orange,” became his first Billboard Hot 100 hit, peaking at No. 10 with 66 weeks on the chart. Since then, he’s amassed 42 Hot 100 entries, including a trio of top 10 hits on the chart, while his Kacey Musgraves collaboration “I Remember Everything” became both artists’ first Hot 100 chart-topper.

Bryan’s latest single, “Pink Skies,” peaked at No. 6 on the Hot 100, while he’s earned 21 top 10 hits on the Hot Rock and Alternative Songs chart to date, including his collaboration with The War and Treaty, “Hey Driver,” and “Sarah’s Place” featuring Noah Kahan.

Bryan’s genre-fluid style has earned him hits in multiple genre charts, including a dozen top 10 hits on the Hot Country Songs chart, including “East Side of Sorrow” and “28.”

He’s released a string of albums and EPs over the past few years, and made his Billboard 200 debut in June 2022 with his album American Heartbreak. In 2023, his self-titled album debuted at No. 1. In July 2024, he released The Great American Bar Scene, which reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200, and took the top spot on the Top Country Albums chart, the Top Rock and Alternative Albums chart and the Folk/Americana Albums chart.

Given Bryan’s prolific nature thus far, it seems likely that he will soon add to these Billboard stats with more music.
